One of Tracy's hidden gems!! My cousin and I went here for the first time yesterday and I was surprised that there was a place like this in Tracy. They sell Morphe brushes, Becca cosmetics, Red Cherry eyelashes, etc. It's good to know they sell the Morphe brand here since brushes are usually sold out online, PLUS you have to pay for shipping costs and wait until it gets delivered. I hate waiting for things that I buy, so I'm glad this place has a lot of variety with brushes. I ended up buying a powder brush and a few eyelashes. It's such a cute little boutique, and the sales associates are very friendly. I asked them if they sell Koko eyelashes, but unfortunately at this time they don't. However, they are in the process of being authorized to sell it. So hopefully they get approved soon! When you purchase items from here, they bag your items in a brown paper bag with hot pink tissue paper, along with a sticker label of the shop. So cute!! This store has a good line up of make up brands. Gerard Cosmetics, MORPHE BRUSHES, theBALM cosmetics, & BECCA to name a few. The only downfall for me is its pretty far.. I'm from SanMateo, but i usually try to stop by on the way when I visit Family in sac.. The store is super cute. It's spacious also organized so it's easier to shop and roam around. Such a great place to get makeup! I love their morphie line..it's affordable and is an amazing line. I used to do makeup years ago and have a pretty good idea of quality and this line is up to par with: Makeup Forever, Urban Decay, Benefit, etc. To give you an idea of affordability, Morphie's concealer pallette is around $17, the same pallette with Makeup Forever would cost $48. Needless to say, I'm very happy with the Makeup Bar and very happy they are here. read more

Cute little place! I love the decor and set-up. If you like Morphe, you definitely need to go here! They have a wide variety (and I'm talking WIDE variety) of their brushes and palettes. Not a huge selection of stuff that I want, but I like to be able to get Morphe brushes and Luxie brushes in person without having to guess what I want online. They were out of RCMA powder and only had a few Morphe single shadows in stock, so that was disappointing. It's too far out of the way for me, so I probably won't be back. The draw for me is the makeup brushes because they have a good selection of those. There were 2 ladies working the cash wrap when I visited and both were very sweet and friendly. Shop is well kept and clean, and well set up for bridal and prom makeup applications. I don't have the need for hair and makeup services, so can't comment on those. Took my 22 year old daughter to check out this new business downtown on 3/18. What a disappointment. Walked in, looked around, stopped at several stations looking at brushes; NOT a Hello, NOT a Can we help you find anything (there were 2 ladies sitting together at a desk/counter). NOT a Welcome to The Make Up Bar, NOT a single acknowledgement that we were even there. My daughter & I were there for at least 5 minutes. Oh & we were the only potential customers at that time shopping. We won't be going back or recommending The Make-Up Bar to anyone. Customer Service is key to a successful business. I guess I'm indifferent. I like being able to pick up my fav morphe brushes and pallets as well as some of the other popular Instagram brands .. That being said the "all sales final" detours me from buying from them quite often. They are more expensive than buying the same products online which I don't mind so much as I get it now and don't have to pay for shipping. My family & I have been very loyal & happy customers since the day it opened almost a year ago. Cynthia is not only a friend of mine but a VERY talented makeup artist. My daughter has been to her for formals & senior photos a total of 4 times, & we already have 3 more future bookings with her. Every time my daughter walks out their doors, she looks the exact same coming home at midnight or so after the dances. It's amazing! My daughter walked into the makeup bar on 10/28 to make an appointment (for H/M a 2 hr appt) with Cynthia (the owner) for Girls Treat that took place on 11/12. She was given an 11AM apt time. One week before the event Cynthia asked if she could move my daughter to 1PM. That worked for us so we said, of course. Arrived at the makeup bar the day of the event at 12:50. My daughter didn't get into the chair until 1:35. While we were waiting I asked when Cynthia would take her since we were on a time limit. Cynthia then informed me there was an issue with the books and someone forgot to pencil in a girl. So now, they have changed my apt time, ran 35 minutes late and someone else is doing her hair and makeup. Cynthia confirmed with me that she would be the one working on my daughter that day. At this point I wasn't even upset, I felt fine with any of them. However, though she changed our apt time, got my daughter in the chair late and switched things around I received no apology. I still worked with them. In order to get my daughter to pics on time I had to run out to my house (in the country) to get her shoes/dress so she can get ready there. I come back at 2:55 and she was done.... it was a 2 hour slot. Second issue..her hair! I was speechless when I saw her hair. It didn't look anything like the pic that was shown to Danielle. I said; that is going to fall out. Danielle said well, she wanted it loose, I said " it's not going to work". She never even looked at me and started spraying the crap out of it and started working on someone else's hair. My daughter's hair is down to her butt so if you're the professional and someone shows you a style that you know will not work, you should suggest something else that will work. Within 30 minutes of us leaving there her hair fell out (mind you, Cynthia seen her hair the day she made the apt). Before I left the place I shared my concern with the co-owner (Roseanne) again, no apologies and still charged me $110. didn't offer to fix it, didn't offer anything. I text Cynthia once I got home and said we can chat on Monday because I knew she was busy, she didn't respond. I sent her pics on Monday, she never responded. I finally called her and she started off the conversation with "this is how I see it". Hmmm...really? I think you should find out your customers issue/concern and allow them to talk first. Cynthia was very argumentative and explained they didn't overbook but that some girls came in 15-20 minutes late which made them fall behind. So if that is the case then the girls that came in late should have had their time cut short, not my daughter, we were there on time. Technically they had 35 more minutes to spend with my daughter but didn't. They let her walk out of their establishment with this hair. I called Cynthia Monday, since she never responded and Cynthia talked over me and when all was said and done asked me what was it she could do for me. I said I would like half my money back since they did a half ass job, she said she couldn't do that and offered nothing else. The entire 10 minute conversation, she still never apologized. I will never give her business again. I wish I could post the pics of my daughter's hair. Also, this is my daughters 3rd GT and her hair and makeup was done by a person at Mira Bella who charged me $65 and her makeup looked beautiful and her hair stayed in (she was not working on 11/12 so we didn't use her this year). I posted my experience on FB with pictures once Cynthia chose not to apologize or do anything to make it right. After I posted on FB (she was informed) she posted the following on her page: "Before you start running your mouth, why not ask your kid if she changed her mind!? That might make a difference in the outcome! Just sayin......#dontcomeatmetwisted #itsalsocalledgetsomelayers". Danielle was shown one picture and Im not sure why they chose to say my daughter changed her mind. I'm guessing to make it someone else's fault and not theirs. My daughter knew exactly how she wanted her hair a week prior to the event. And if a hairstylist sees a pic that is not doable on your client's hair then say something. And since Cynthia seen my daughters hair 2 weeks prior she could have suggested some styles. She obviously knew she had layers since she posted it on fb in a hashtag. My daughter likes the make up at their establishment but we will not be shopping there or recommending this place. I see all the great reviews and im not sure why she chose this day to behave this way to me. GT is a pretty special day and she made it pretty stressful for us. my daughter looked beautiful anyway but with no thanks to The Makeup bar! read more

The place is nice and the type of makeup they have is also very nice the reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because when I went the lady that processed my transaction over charged me and didn't realize it until she had already swiped my card and according to her the system was not allowing her to cancel it and simply do it again so she said she had to charge it and then do a refund what type of crap system is that? Anyway I don't understand how you work there and you look at the total and not realize that there is something on there that I didn't buy before she swiped my card please pay attention! Anyways mistakes happen I guess sadly I will be back simply because of the products they carry but next time I'll stand there and make sure I don't get charged for something I didn't buy being the fact that it was my first time there and they made a mistake a discount on my next purchased would of been nice because of the inconvenience . read more
