Active One Construction - Improved value of our house

When shopping for replacement windows last year, we were equally concerned about window quality and…read moreinstallation to replace 20 double hung windows in our house. We compared Pella, Renewal by Anderson, and Marvin windows, and liked Marvin's "Infinity" fiberglass windows the best. On the Infinity website, we found 2 retailers that install Infinity windows in Canton, MI. Last fall, we decided to hire the retailer in Wixom to install half of our windows, and planned to have the other half done in the spring. We love the windows, but had several issues with the installation that did not meet our expectations with the Wixom company. Everything was resolved in the end, but for the remaining half of the windows, we decided to look into the other Infinity retailer- Active One Construction. The owner of Active One, Rocky, came to our house to give an estimate. He was professional and punctual. We decided to hire Active One and Rocky came back to take final measurements and make sure that everything was clear about what we wanted to order. We agreed on an installation date in May, but when the time came we were concerned about lots of rain that week and Rocky asked if we'd rather re-schedule the job. We were happy to have the opportunity to postpone installation, even though it meant waiting an extra 3 weeks until they completed other scheduled work. The 2-man team (one is Rocky's brother) from Active One has many years of window installation experience. They were very careful and did an excellent job. They set up scaffolding inside our 2-story foyer to replace 2 connected double hung windows above the front door with one large fixed window and had an extra installer come to assist with that. They matched the exterior aluminum cladding on the wooden window frames to look the same as the installation done last fall by the other company, applied caulk neatly, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards (removed all the old windows, trim, etc.). We were completely satisfied with the job from start to finish. Everything was done right, we appreciated their excellent customer service, and were glad we ended up switching companies to Active One.

Dominic did a complete inspection before telling us our options. He walked around on the roof and took photos. He did not try to talk us into any upgrades, but we decided since the roof was old, we'd ask for the shingles and any decking to be repaired. We decided we wanted the medium excellence option. We also asked for attic blown-in insulation, new gutters, and gutter shields. Dominic told us they'd put in some attic vents. In the end, they took it down to the rafters! As we had to be away when they started, Dominic was in touch with us on the phone or by email every step of the way, and answered every question. Roof Advance gave our little old house the boost it needed! It looks great, and, we have peace of mind knowing that we won't have to climb up to clean the gutters any more. They even gave us a senior discount, which we were not expecting. Their requested deposit wasn't a lot of money. They have an easy way to pay by e-check, or by credit card online. Highly recommended!

Their business is a well run machine, from the estimate process through scheduling to installation. The teamwork was impressive and they worked late to finish our job on time. We were trying very hard to be ready for the home to go on the real estate market in March. Neighborhood keep us abreast of the weather/schedule and came and did the job as soon as the weather allowed. They kept both the integrity of the roof and the need to meet a time deadline in mind and really helped us out. We are homeowners not roofing professionals, it was nice to know that they've been in Ann Arbor for so long, to know that they are well thought of in the community. We were able to trust them in their pricier advice. And for the scope of the work I feel the price was fair. A roof costs money, doing a roof the right way costs money but at least I know we paid a fair price for a job well done. They offer a long warranty and it's for the roof not for the owner so it transfers to new owners easily. And we know from conversations with multiple real estate agents that the warranty is solid! They were also happy to coordinate with our painter so he could do some painting work along side and in conjunction. This was a big help and made the whole process so much easier than having to do it in two separate steps! Our family highly recommends Neighborhood for all your roofing needs!
