I finally tried Salata and loved it!! So much I went for lunch two days in a row. I ordered a wrap on both days. The first day I had a whole wheat wrap with spinach, mushrooms, corn, green peppers, banana peppers, and mixed cheese. The second day I had the exact same thing minus corn and green peppers, but I added Parmesan cheese. I always get sauces on the side. Not a fan of too much sauce/juice on any of my food. (Which is actually a pretty decent discovery, cool) I had the spicy chipotle ranch for the first time and oh my gooodnesss. It's so delicious! Both times I got pita chips with my wraps. I had been getting their salads delivered for the past year so never entered into this visit. I can say the employees here will listen when you say you do not want a lot of dressing, cheese, etc. They will ask you when is enough rather than just adding what they assume is a "little". I've been to other locations that were just as busy as this and been completely ignored. I always get a large because it is only $1.50 more than a small. This isn't a cheap salad. You get to choose as many toppings as you'd like but when you get to he meat, it 1 tiny scoop and to get even a little more is an extra charge. I was extremely disappointed when Sweet Tomatoes went bankrupt. The Houston area lacks healthy dining options which is odd considering it's the restaurant capital of the world. I was pleasantly surprised to discover not only was it affordable, the salads were fresh and tasty. I ordered the regular sized salad with most of the veggie choices, tofu, a mini croissant, and the tomato dressing. If you choose protein, the plant based is $3 extra and animal based is $4. Came here a few days ago and the experience was not all the best. I told my wife to give it another chance and so we came last night. It didnt go all too well.... Firstly, i have to say the customer service was pretty good. No messing up on the toppings for the salad this go round, so ill give them that. Salad was pretty good too so 1 star for that. On to the bad... All of the tables were dirty. We had to look all around the place to actually find a clean table to sit at. No ice in the ice machine, so the drinks we bought had to be hot... So I like a good salad, and by good I mean one that's filling and not just something to feed to the deer. So that means load it up!! But it does not have to mean make it super unhealthy. Soooo the good news here is that there are a ton of topping options, all kinds o veggies, beets, eggs, nuts, berries, sprouts (yesss!!), and like 5 different kids of lettuce. So lots to choose from. Of course they have all kinds of meat options, different seasoned chicken options, some beef, and a tofu or something. Lots of options here. Maybe eight different dressings, and all are well marked as to if they're GF or V or something. So that's nice if you care for that sort of thing. You know they have the fun toppings too, all the things that make salads unhealthy if you want, gummy bears, warheads...no wait, that's not true! Ha! I was just seeing if you were still reading. But yea, no candy. Sorry. They do have soups and breads too. I just got a big salad (technically it was the small, but it was big enough for me to get full enough on), I like that they toss all your ingredients together in the bowl before serving it out to you, that always makes it more fun to eat. Love all the options and I would come back many times before I felt I had a good run of testing out all the combinations I'd care to. The place is clean too, and it does get busy, but they seem to move through folks pretty quick. The staff are nice enough though you'll get a fair mix of kind, and uninterested. My Husband and I have been here so many times and never had any issue. Due to covid, we order through the app for pickup. It's always ready when we get there and quick to go in and pick up. And five years later here I am reporting the same issue and review at this salata location on mason rd in katy. It's only this location that has a visible issue with my severe nut allergy. New employees not being trained appropriately, that when someone with a nut allergy orders their food they must change gloves and 1 person does their whole order to prevent cross contamination. Employees are still not educated on the severity of nut allergies so I won't be coming to this location anymore. It's truly alarming to feel turned away by an allergy I have no control over. The whole line comes to a complete halt instead of having one person finish my order, so then there's a line of upset customers also being rude to me. She then proceeded to begin refilling items with her nasty gloves and leaving the plastic refill containers (that everyone touches) in the containers of food. Okay, I really love salads & eat a giant salad almost every night for dinner at home. I wanted a similar meal while I was out & about one night and thought I'd check out Salata while I was in the area. This place was SO disappointing. This place is geared more towards the type of people who just like to say they eat salads but don't actually want to eat a salad-- i.e. those who consider Ranch the sixth major food group. I arrived and there was a terribly long line so I couldn't see the offerings at the salad bar. I hopped in line and once I finally got in sight of the actual offerings, I was disappointed in how mediocre the vegetables looked and considered leaving but decided to stick it out sine I'd already waited. Maybe my standards are too high because I'm comparing this to the likes of Sweetgreen or Chopt (other salad chains), but Salata reminded me more of a Pizza Hut salad bar than a modern, healthy alternative to traditional fast food. To start off, they don't offer arugula--it's 2019-- where's the arugula? The veggie options they had were fine, but I was looking for more adventurous options like sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts and less canned options like beans, corn, or black olives. Next, they are SO STINGY with their topping dispersal. I asked if I could get as many toppings as I wanted and the worker said "yes" but only put literally bits of each topping I asked for into the bowl. I would ask for more & again, he'd toss on one or two more small pieces. I'd like handfuls, or a full scoop. Or heck, even limit me to 5 toppings if that means giving me more of each. Don't say I can get anything & then act like you don't have enough to spare. The disappointment continued with the protein options. Each meat looked like it was either a nitrate-filled deli meat that they cut into cubes, or was already covered in some sort of sauce. If I wanted sauce on my proteins, I'd ask for it, but pre-applying the sauce doesn't allow me any flexibility. The lack of clean protein options was a turnoff for someone seeking out healthy options. Then it came time for the specialty toppings. Croutons, fried wonton strips, and pasta (??) are free to add, but quinoa was an additional $3!!! THREE DOLLARS FOR A TINY SCOOP OF QUINOA?!?! To add to the absurdity, a serving of avocado on your salad was only $1 extra. Literally how is quinoa, a cheap, bulk commodity, three times the price of avocado? And why upcharge the healthiest option while including fried wonton strips or pasta at no additional cost? Furthermore why are we putting pasta on salad?? The dressing options especially irked me. Most were cream-based sauces and a few were vinaigrettes. I ordered the ginger lime vinaigrette & it tasted fine, but when the employee poured the ladle of dressing on my salad, I could tell by the thick consistency that it was definitely made with some gross ingredients. I just looked up the ingredients in their dressings & the vinaigrettes contain canola oil, refined sugar, and sulfites. To top off the unhealthy experience, you're given a choice between a buttery croissant or pita chips to eat with your meal. To say I was disappointed with Salata would be an understatement. This place may have been cool back in 2010, but healthy eating has evolved and this place didn't catch up. Save your money and your time and go to Panera instead. read more

They have so many toppings to choose from and you can put literally anything in it. Salads come in small or large, and then you get the options of wraps as well. Yes, the prices are high. But it's not that much higher than other salads that you get elsewhere. Yes, you might be cringing when you see them scoop a tiny bit of topping into your salad. But trust me, a little goes a long way. As for the protein, I do think they should give you more than a few pieces if they're gonna charge that much extra. Do not get the shrimp! 5 little shrimps for $4 extra. Overall, it's a decent lunch place if you're wanting to eat healthy. Healthy means pricey. That's the reality we live in. read more

This is my 3rd time at Salata. I think what I like most is the ability to dress my salad up or down depending on my mood. Today I wanted lots of greens, veggies, and some protein to counter all of the rich food over the weekend. I work around the corner from this location and have literally never had to spend more than 5 minutes in line. They are generous with the toppings and have no problem giving more when asked. With the exception of the beans and olives, everything is very fresh. I do find the protein options somewhat limited...3 chicken options, smoked turkey, and crab with a k. So, I usually stick with the pesto chicken. I would come more often if there were more protein options to choose from. read more

At the very end after my food had been made, in front of my face the manager says "this is too much for a wrap", and proceeded to (in front of my face) send my food back to the beginning. I was already in a rush so now not only do I have to start back from the beginning but it was SUPER disrespectful for her to say "this is too much food" I didn't make the food I just told them what to put in it. I felt as though not only did she fat shame me, but she wasted my time. Then after having to get my food remade in a smaller portion she proceeded to give my original food made to an employee behind the counter. So I can't eat the food I chose, but someone else can.
