Salata has great salads one of things I like about them is that you can actually choose your ingredients and your price is usually based on what you choose. They have a large selection to choose from and a nice facility in which to enjoy them. There's one very close to my neighborhood about 2 miles from my home so it's the place that I may frequent more in the near future. I got so many toppings I almost forgot I had lettuce. I always go with the shrimp and avocado. Those cost extra, but they're worth it. I love that they have so many options. I'm allergic to most ranches and so I can never have ranch without looking at the ingredients first, but i love that they have like 10 different dressings I can have and I can mix it up. I like the smoked turkey, and the sun dried tomatoes, it's just sobering that makes it feel a bit special. The drinks are actually one of my husband's favorite parts, they have unsweetened tea options and he loves tea, but can't have sweet tea, but likes flavors. This was the first time I tried this place. I love the concept of going down the line and custom make your food. I ended up with a big salad for $10 because I didn't add any protein. I will be back. The reason for lower stars is because of the service, employees were not very enthusiastic when providing service, it's like they will do the minimum, hardly smiling or speaking more pleasant. Also, when adding the veggies and fruits to the bowl, why are they not using tongs or the little ladles half of the time? They used their gloved hand to grab and scoop! The problem with a lot of them is that the portions are small. Other issues include bad service or ingredients not being fresh. This location didn't really have any of those issues, but it also didn't blow me away, and the salad could have been even bigger (like our fave location at Richmond and Weslayan) maybe. Salata is still one of the best Salad Bars you'll ever eat at, unless you get a bad location or a bad crew or a bad day, because consistency definitely can be questionable at some locations more than others. The dressing that I like best is the fresh herb vinaigrette and we both like it which is unusual because we usually both don't get the same thing but here it's just that good that we do. I finally tried Salata and loved it!! So much I went for lunch two days in a row. I ordered a wrap on both days. The first day I had a whole wheat wrap with spinach, mushrooms, corn, green peppers, banana peppers, and mixed cheese. The second day I had the exact same thing minus corn and green peppers, but I added Parmesan cheese. I always get sauces on the side. Not a fan of too much sauce/juice on any of my food. (Which is actually a pretty decent discovery, cool) I had the spicy chipotle ranch for the first time and oh my gooodnesss. It's so delicious! Both times I got pita chips with my wraps. But yea, no candy. Sorry. They do have soups and breads too. And five years later here I am reporting the same issue and review at this salata location on mason rd in katy. It's only this location that has a visible issue with my severe nut allergy. New employees not being trained appropriately, that when someone with a nut allergy orders their food they must change gloves and 1 person does their whole order to prevent cross contamination. Employees are still not educated on the severity of nut allergies so I won't be coming to this location anymore. It's truly alarming to feel turned away by an allergy I have no control over. The whole line comes to a complete halt instead of having one person finish my order, so then there's a line of upset customers also being rude to me. They have so many toppings to choose from and you can put literally anything in it. Salads come in small or large, and then you get the options of wraps as well. Yes, the prices are high. But it's not that much higher than other salads that you get elsewhere. Yes, you might be cringing when you see them scoop a tiny bit of topping into your salad. But trust me, a little goes a long way. As for the protein, I do think they should give you more than a few pieces if they're gonna charge that much extra.
