-Spring rolls -Chicken Pad Thai -Beef salad -Tom Yum -Ginger beef -Sticky Rice -Lots of Water This was what we ordered for lunch. Everything was amazing. Standouts were the pad thai and spring rolls. Service was great (we WERE the only ones in there, ) Hole in the wall. Metered street parking. CC accepted. I hate to say it, but I may never go back to Bangkok Chef now that I know this is right up the street. It's a few $ more, but this place is well worth it. read more

Yelp 31 days Challenge: 23 of 31 I love Thai food, and I don't really know "authentic" Thai, but I know what I like. I have had all sorts of dishes at Sala, and my favorites are the pad thai, spring rolls, crunchy rice (not sure what its called), and green curry. And they know how to make it THAI SPICY! Pu is so friendly; I had only been there once or twice and she remembered me. She also cooks all of the food so the quality is very consistent. Menu is reasonably priced and the service is quick. Thanks for the UYEs because I never would have stepped foot in the place! If you haven't visited yet, its a place worth discovering. Tips: Full bar, BYOB with corkage. Limited parking out back. Call Pu for the stall numbers. read more

This place proves that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Sala Thai is half amazing thai restaurant, half hostess bar. Don't let the skimpy dressed ladies put you off! The best thai food ever! Their chef was born and raised in Thailand and everything is amazingly tasty and fresh. Their spice level makes other Thai restaurants look pathetic. I can be a wimp when it comes to eating hot hot food. But I suffer through the spicy laab because you just HAVE to. They'll make it mild if you want but its better spicy. Their curries are delicious. Chicken laab is clearly the best thing on the menu. When they have shrimp the spicy tom yum soup is essential. Spring rolls are out of this world. Honestly everything is just authentically delicious. For me though the entertainment is like no other. I mean watching older white men oogling over the beautiful thai women is hilarious. Even more hilarious when I see them out in the world after. Check out Sala Thai for amazing food and drinks! read more

Pad Thai was better than PHUKET! Noodles were slightly thinner cut and it was well seasoned. Pretty big portion with lots of chicken. BUT, no fifth star for ambiance. It's a neighborhood bar, around the corner from Pali Safeway/Longs/Papa Johns. If you're just looking for a spot to get some decent Thai food, play darts/pool/jukebox - Sala Thai is winnahs! read more

This was the best Pad Thai I've had outside of Thailand. My curiosity built as my Yelp buddy Russel M. posted UYE gatherings there and reading great reviews. I've lived and worked downtown for several years and thought there must be a mistake....this place did not look like it excelled in food. I finally walked down for lunch with my boyfriend and ordered Tom Ka, the coconut soup (his favorite), Green Curry (my favorite) and Pad Thai (our favorite). The Pad Thai was out of this world. The only other time I've had Pad Thai this good was in Bangkok, Thailand. This is the real deal. Just the right combination of sweet, salty and tangy. Incidentally, I've gone back for take out and the Pad Thai wasn't as great, but still good. I'm still chasing that first high.... The green curry was the perfect consistency, not too thick or thin and the mild we ordered was the perfect balance (for us) of sweet and spicy. The Tom Ka had generous helpings of mushrooms and bamboo shoots. Almost too much, but we like to order it as a starter/appetizer, though it's filling enough to be a meal in itself. Again, great flavor. Slightly thicker than I'm used to, but that's only because it takes up more space in my stomach for all the other dishes I want to eat. Service was good, nothing to complain or boast about. The menu is a bit limited, but I prefer quality to quantity. They didn't have sticky rice even though it was on the menu. It seems like it would be seedy at night, but when we went for dinner the scene was very tame. A couple guys playing darts, nice friendly guys at the bar having a beer at the local neighborhood sports bar. There were a few "friendly" girls, but I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. All in all, from a food perspective, this is my favorite Thai place in Hawaii so far. Great food, good price point, the ambience not so great, but you get over it when you try the Pad Thai. read more

This place is legit. If you could get past the loud bar atmosphere and darts flying past your head :), you might be pleasantly surprised. All the curries are good and fresh. I especially like yellow and jungle curry, the first soup on the menu (their popular one), and minced beef. They even give lettuce instead of cabbage (yes!) Somehow between the drunk people being loud they manage to come to the table 4-5 times and ask if we need anything which is kind of nice. I like spicy food but this place makes a pretty spicy 'medium' on some of the dishes. In my opinion one of the best (if not the best so far) Thai food on the island. 365 Challenge: #17/365 read more

BEEF SALAD You wouldn't expect it, but Sala Thai Bar & Restaurant has incredibly delicious food. This is a Thai hostess bar / restaurant. Even if hostess bars aren't your cup of tea, you should go here for the food. I suggest the tangy Beef Salad. POLITE THAI GIRLS The girls here are very polite, unlike the usual rude K-bar girls I'm used to. NU'UANU This bar is located on Nuuanu Ave. close to Same Same, another Thai hostess / karaoke bar. BAR-HOPPER FRIENDLY I plan on visiting Sala Thai again on one of my next bar hopping adventures. Yelp 365 - #081/365 read more

First the good points. The food was good, fast, hot and moderately prices at $11.50 for a Garlic Chicken Stir fry and Coke. Now the bad points, I realize that entering a dark, empty bar and having to ask if they are open is a pretty good indication of things to come. I was surprised that the help was not friendlier, the cook bartender who helped me also fumbled a question and made a faux pas with the change. After I sat at the bar I ordered a Coke and asked for a lunch recommendation, the bartender replied "rice or noodles." Considering that it was an Asian restaurant that recommendation pretty much left it wide open, so I looked at the menu and ordered the Stir-fry garlic chicken with salad and rice. The bartender went to the kitchen and the bar back came to the bar got herself a grape Crush and sat at the opposite end of the bar. I asked her about the Thai song playing and we talked for about a minute. A man came in and asked for 'Pua,' The bartender asked him to stay for lunch and he declined saying that he was double parked. The food arrived about five minutes later and it was good the garlic added a nice-but-not-overpowering flavor and there was a peppery zip that is common in Thai cuisine. The bartender went away and I ate in silence, noticing that the bar was not the cleanest. Finally at the end the bartender asked me if I wanted anything more I said no and she said $11.50 so I gave her 3 $5 bills which she kept without offering any change. Taking a $3.50 tip on an $11.50 is pretty rude, especially when you have pretty much ignored the customer, but I doubt we'll ever cross paths again so all is well. read more

Okay, so I finally gave this place a try. I made sure I went when it was still daylight and people probably weren't THAT drunk yet. I won't lie, I was a little hesitant when I went. Everyone stopped to look as we walked in. We sat down and the waitress got us our menus. The wait was a little longer than I expected. But man! Was all the reviews CORRECT! Their food is awesome! Their green curry was the bomb!!!! A little spicier than I thought for a medium spiciness, but it was still great. My fiancé also quite enjoyed their fried chicken. It was really loud. The men that were drinking in there were also really loud. Not somewhere I want to be with just some of my girlfriends. But I won't know their food because it was great. The place is a little sketch, but I'm glad I gave their food a try. read more

Food: Spicy = DEFCON 5! Your nose will run, your heart will palpitate, your ears will bleed, you'll see the Virgin Mary in your rice bowl. The Good: I never order pad thai because bland does not interest me, but based on reviews here, I tried it and was not disappointed---tons of personality, and you can order extra chicken or beef for three bucks more. Green curry is as fantastic as everyone says it is. I had the good sense to order this one medium spicy, and it was just right. The Ungood: Don't bother with the beef salad, mostly gristle. I've had the pad thai with beef and chicken, and both times, the meat was dried out. Lost a star for this. One day, they only had beef and chicken, no pork, no shrimp. Another day, they only had shrimp, no beef, no pork, no chicken. Lost another star. Even so, I do love this place! The point of this place is remunerated female company and booze, not so much being a restaurant. I suspect that the whole point of the kitchen is for the female staff to feed themselves. No creepy human trafficking vibe that I could detect. I'm told it's female-owned. Service: They take credit cards. The lady bartender (owner?) went out of her way to make me feel at home. She brought a ton of napkins up front---which are essential if you are going to go spicy---kept the water glass full, made sure I understood the charges on the check, and checked in with me several times. The lady chef also came out to talk to me, concerned about my capacity for the spice level. When I asked her how late they stay open, she said usually 2AM, with the kitchen closing around 11PM, "but all the girls here know how to cook" she assured me. Atmosphere: I came on a Sunday afternoon, so there was no "hostess" action going on. It was your basic neighborhood sports bar without the nachos, and with friendly male regulars who act like they own the place. They cursed with abandon at the football game, so I would not bring a child here in the afternoon. I wouldn't hesitate to come back at night, I felt safe here, although I can see how the place would be off-putting to middle class white people. There is nothing upscale, "corporate", or shiny about the place, but I what I experienced was true hospitality. read more

First of all, Sala Thai isn't so much a family restaurant. It is a sports bar and a dive so if you have kids to bring with you, I wouldn't really recommend it. With that out of the way, this place is a complete hidden gem. Their Pad Thai is out of this world. The flavors are aromatic and a complete mix of cilantro, oyster sauce(I'm guessing), and the wok hey(wok breath) is tantalizing. Just make sure when they ask you about your spicy level, don't hesitate to put it a notch down. Their medium is quite spicy and rate as "high spice" on my level. I can't imagine how "Thai Spicy" would be. Sala Thai is one of those places that I want to keep coming back to order and next time I'm there, I'm going to definitely try their curries or Tom Ka. 100 Reviews, 1 Day 71/100 January 12, 2013 read more

Stopped by here on Friday for lunch. This spot was recommended by a friend who loves to eat and try new spots. I was not disappointed. My friend and I shared chicken pad thai, beef salad, papaya salad, green curry & rice. What really stood out was the pad thai. Great flavors but just as important, the noodles were not the ordinary ones I usually see. The noodles were thinner which was a nice change of pace. This establishment is a bar so it was kinda dark and uninviting from the outside; but the price & quality of the food made going here all worth it. I definitely will be back to eat, drink and sing karaoke. read more

This is my neighborhood bar, and I feel lucky. I've been frequenting this bar since it opened nearly 5 years ago and have known the owner for over 12 years. Also, my wife happens to be Thai and we both enjoy the food and atmosphere at Sala Thai. The food is usually very, very good here (but not always consistent, depending on who's cooking and range for 3 star cooking to 5 star cooking). They have all of the typical dishes you find in most Thai restaurants. Their curries are very good, as is their Pad Thai and Papaya salads. I'd also recommend their spring rolls and fried chicken. They often have specials or can sometimes cook off menu dishes. They often have harder to find Thai dishes. I highly recommend the Thai Sausage (Sai Ua) when available, it come with cilantro, basal, ginger, fried Thai chili peppers and cabbage. Also, the Kow Nam, which is a curried rice and seasoned ground meat based dish is exotic and intoxicating. And for their parties they often have Ka Nom Jin (Thai/Issan spaghetti). I've read several comments on this bar serving 'wannabe' Thai food and want to weigh in. There is nothing like being in Thailand and eating the most delicious foods from the street vendors, but you often do so at your own risk. And restaurants in America do modify their recipes some to favor the palates of the patrons. Sala Thai comes as close as any Thai restaurant in Hawaii to cooking dishes similar in taste to dishes you'd find in Thailand. As for the bar, the drink prices are typical. Sala Thai has a very friendly atmosphere. There are hostess, but they are polite, not pushy, like you find in Korean or Vietnamese bars. There is a pool table as well as darts, plus several large screen TVs to watch sporting events. I'd say that patrons usually out number the hostesses by 3 or 4 to 1, so only a minority of customer partake in hostess aspect of the bar. All in all, I enjoy this bar for everything it offers, food drinks and entertainment. I routinely recommend it to friends and visitors. read more

I love Thai food and Sala Thai has great food! It was literally so delicious. I ordered the Evil Red Curry, Thai hot and it was perfection! It was full of flavor and full of spice and I couldn't stop eating it. Besides the food being great, the service was good too. The waitress was very attentive and was always checking in on us. The price is just right too. They have a bar as well and they play good music. I liked the atmosphere a lot. This is a place that I'll likely visit more than once. I was a bit shocked that it's not a kitchen and rather a bar. At first, it didn't seem like I was in the right place but because I had made a phone order, I stepped in. In any case, you have to tell the bartender that you're here for food. I wasn't disappointed - I had red curry and fried Thai chicken. Good portion size and very yummy. It seemed like the curry was a little salty but I'd still go back...especially since they're open late. Perfect for your late night Thai cravings. read more

Hmm. I'm not sure what went wrong here. I ordered pad see ew and I was expecting a sweet, flat noodle dish with crisp, green veggies, slices of beef and a sweet shoyu sauce. Instead, what I got was a lot of crisp, green veggies, thick slices of beef, very little flat noodles, and a lot of SUPER SPICY red chili peppers chopped up and mixed into the noodles. Pad see ew is supposed to be sweet. Pad kee mao is supposed to be spicy. It was very strange eating spicy pad see ew! It wasn't bad but it's definitely not traditional thai food. read more

This place is a "drinky-drinky bar" slash restaurant. I guess that's why I liked it so much... two things that I love (drinks and thai food). The food here is a lot better than most other thai places here on the island. Our server "pooh" actually cooks the food here. We ordered to pad thai and green curry. Pad thai was more like the pad thai that I had made by some of my friends from Thailand (it didn't taste like BBQ or ketchup). And the green curry was spicy to my liking with lots of vegetables. Pooh was really nice and told us which stalls in the back of the building were available for us to park in (b/c if you park in the wrong stalls you can get towed). She even asked what our names were so she could try to remember it for the next time we come in (we'll see if she does remember next time we do go back... because we'll be going back). read more

This is where I go for karaoke. They have a "by artist" and "by song title" book each, and that is really good. Songs are only $1 and nobody makes fun of me , I mean you. They have pretty decent thai food as well, but it is not really a restaurant per se, although they have a good menu, and serve well up until midnight. Their food prices are competitive with restaurants, and their pad thai is much better than Bangkok Chef up the street on Nu'unanu, although the price are a little higher. I wasn't sure if it was a hostess bar until we walked in about six months ago, but it's just a nice neighborhood kind of place, nice goood size, booths, which I like and always some music (or karaoka) playing. So if you are in the neighborhood and are looking for a drink or two, a nice friendly ambience with locals, maybe want to belt out a song or two, don't hesitate to stop in here at all. it's safe and friendly. read more

"Let's just walk past the restaurant to see how bad it is and if its bad, we're walking straight past" says my husband. I determinedly held his hand and led him inside, despite the couple of older buzzed guys having a rowdy time out front. We never walked past. The food is pretty good. Pad thai had more flavor than the average Thai place and the Evil Jungle curry wasn't bad either. All in all prices and food were average for a normal Thai restaurant, despite the ambiance. They have bottled beers, a pool table. Satellite and kareoke.... (heh heh heh). Service was good. She refilled waters often and asked if we needed anything else. Not bad, not sure how I ultimately feel about this place, maybe if I'm dying for Thai food and Bangcock Chef is closed. read more

Yelpers...OMG! Seems there is a disparaging gap between good Thai food and wannabe Thai. Sala Thai is more in the Wannabe category. Came here for a Father's Day dinner with my favorite foodie friend. I kept telling him that this was the place to check out because it recently was the spot for a UYE lunch and some fairly good reviews made it seem like a place to check out. OK, here we decide to go. I didn't care that it was a drinkie drinkie place. I was treated very nicely and really didn't notice anything about that aspect of it. It was definitely loaded with male patrons, but I was welcomed nicely and felt rather comfortable. First, let's just say that it was easier to find what was NOT on the menu. No apps to speak of because everything was "sold out". No Summer Rolls, No Tod Mun, no Calamari. BOO!!! Here is what we did have: Papaya Salad- Definitely Laos style with Fish Paste. Not my favorite way to have it, but it was not too bad. Ordered Medium but came out mild. Green Curry with Shrimp--Oh my Eggplant, Batman! This rendition was rather salty and filled with nothing but shrimp and eggplant. I really dislike eggplant and can normally work around it since there are other veggies in the dish...not here, I guess. Sad Face. Ordered Medium, still came out mild. Serving size was good but the execution of the dish was a big fail! Pad Thai Shrimp- It seemed that Yelpers really liked the Pad Thai. Eww...It tasted more salty that sweet & tangy. I don't know if they used ketchup, but they sure did not use a tamarind base like most authentic Pad Thai's should have. If not for the super healthy serving of Shrimp, this would be a total fail as well. Tom Ka Shrimp- This was a biggest bowl of soup I have seen in any Thai Restaurant. It was lacking the spice and the citrus-y lemongrass and kaffir lime leaf flavors and aromas but again, the soup was filled with Shrimp! I love mushrooms and they do over compensate with the mushrooms, but I don't mind. Again, ordered Medium and they gave us mild! We did tell the server that my foodie friend was Thai, and not to worry about spice, but they totally missed the mark. Overall, Thai cuisine is a delicate balance of sweet, salty and tangy but this spot seemed to lean more on the salty...not sweet or tangy to really speak of. Makes for a sad visit when we leave with lots of leftovers that we know we wont bother eating at home. The fact that they have Stella is worth one additional star. read more

I made it over to Sala on a Sunday night. Unfortunately I didn't have the pleasure of being offered the chance to buy a girl a drinky. I went with three girls and they didn't even offer me to buy them a drinky. So...I really can't review that portion of the Sala Thai dining experience. The food? Hey, it's real Thai food. Delicious. We got a red curry dish, Thai basil stir fry, pad thai (we had a newbie with us), fish cakes, spring rolls, and tom yum soup. The curry was a bit flat and the thai basil was a bit salty but other than that everything was delicious. Actually, everyone was surprised by the pad thai. It really was the best dish. Ha, show's how much we know! Unfortunately I was only passing thru Hawaii so I doubt I'll have another chance to try this place out but if you do, get some pics of the "employees" for me! read more

I *know* Thai food -- from Thai co-workers, friends, and visits to the country. So I decided after reading all the rave reviews that I had to give this place a try. Bottom Line: This is far from the best Thai food I've ever had. Not even the best on Oahu. I tried the pad thai here -- I figured that how they handled the signature noodle dish of Thailand would be a good barometer for the rest of the menu. When the waitress asked me how spicy/hot I wanted it, I decided to be conservative -- if this place was as authentic as the reviews led me to believe, "hot" would be fierce. So I chose "medium." The pad thai used a much thinner noodle than usual, and it was on the "gloppy" side (noodles cooked way past al dente; lots of sauce). What's really odd is that I tasted NO chili pepper at all. None. No spice whatsoever. Still, everything my friend and I ate tasted fresh. The serving sizes were good. My friend's shrimp dish had more shrimp than you would expect. And the waitress (hostess, whatever) was very attentive and pleasant. So, overall -- OK. But, again, far from the best. read more

I really like their broth, I come here especially on days that I am feeling under the weather, always makes me feel better. The lemongrass broth is awesome and it grows on you. I ddint like it at first but now omg its delishious. After visiting Sala Thai on a friend's recommendation, it has quickly become my favorite place to hang out and enjoy Thai food. I had been by the location a number of times in the past, but never got a good sense of what type of restaurant/bar it was until I went in. My first impression was quickly surprised by the casual, comfortable atmosphere. Plus, the inside is larger than I expected and with a nice layout. I find the food to be delicous ethnic Thai cuisine, the staff to be terrific, pleasant patronage, great happy hour specials, and a fun place to hang out and enjoy darts, pool, karaoke or watch sports on several large-screen televisions. The location is convenient to Chinatown and a reasonable walk from the downtown business district. I've been here for lunch and in the evening. Lunch is a bit quieter and would make a great place to meet friends or business acquaintenances for a casual lunch. The evening is a great place to catch up with friends, or make new friends, for drinks and dinner and have some fun. Sala Thai is an all-round great place. A location I would recommend to friends, business associates and visitors when in the area. The staff certainly makes the visit very enjoyable... not to mention, one of the best smiles you'll ever see will be encountered here. read more

Sala is the best Thai I've found on island. The food rocks. The location is, well, sketchy. It's a hostess bar, so the crowd is diverse and, um, interesting. But the girls are nice and the food is hot and tasty. All of the items I've tried have been very flavorful and authentic. Curries are luscious. Pad Thai has that good seasoned wok flavor. The soups are wonderful. The salads are fresh. And they can make Thai specialties that aren't necessarily on the menu. They also carry some really good Thai beer in the BIG bottle! Parking is tight. Seating is available but minimal. Go for the food...better yet, call in your order. Highly recommended. read more

Easily my favorite find in Honolulu thus far (though I'm sure I've just scratched the surface). As an excellent no-frills dive bar that serves fantastic Thai food, Sala Thai combines some of my favorite things into one surprising and awesome establishment. I'm a Thai food snob and I think the food is fantastic. It also doesn't hurt that the food is cheap (by Hawaiian standards) with heaping portions. Incidentally, the menu to which Yelp links at present is out of date. The vegetarian page no longer exists outside of the internet but, not to worry fellow veggie/vegan friends, they are happy to vegify your order upon request and are plugged into needing to forgo the fish sauce. Always nice when that's not a hassle. The spicy mock duck does seem to be a thing of the past, however. My wife and I shared the Salathai curry (with tofu) and a pad thai. Both were excellent. I rarely order pad thai when I go out; so many places serve it bland and greasy and there are so many more exciting (in my opinion) Thai dishes to choose from. But after seeing how good our table-neighbors' pad thai looked, we decided to go for it and weren't disappointed; it reminded me of Bangkok. The Salathai curry (more obviously a dish I'd order regularly) was absolutely delicious. Their larb looked fantastic, too. The service was kind and friendly, as was the crowd of regulars. If I lived here, I suspect I would fast become a regular myself. read more

When I walked into Sala Thai it was like those moments in the movies when the music skips then stops and everybody looks at you. Read Yelper Joie Y.'s review for a really accurate description of Sala Thai. The atmosphere is "unique" but the staff do take care of you and were borderline sweet. We ordered a curry and the Thai Fried Chicken and both were pretty darn tasty; much more so that you'd expect from a hostess bar/restaurant. If you're in the mood for some yummy thai food, cold beers and a few games of pool then stop on by next time you're downtown. read more

I had read the Yelp reviews of Sala Thai, so I knew what I was getting into... or so I thought. I understood the neighborhood wasn't the best. I also know it doubles as a "drinky bar". However, all the reviews spoke highly of the food. So I convinced my lunch buddies from work to check it out with me. We were up for a lunchtime dining adventure. We were not disappointed. That's exactly what we got: a lunchtime dining adventure! Until we were eating our food, there were all kinds of alarm bells going off in our heads. We parked around the corner and walked down the shabby strip mall (that was built before strip malls existed). Most/all of the store fronts seemed rather dubious. Sala Thai was no exception! Standing at the door, I had a significant moment of doubt. It looked like the kind of place you might find Dog the Bounty Hunter, and he wouldn't be there for lunch. He'd be there on business! Regardless, we pushed through the door. We were greeted by a dark but clean bar with only a single barmaid in sight. This did not look like a place to get lunch and my doubt was reinforced. I asked the barmaid if they were serving lunch. She assured me they were and showed us to a table. Once we were seated, we were offered drinks and given menus. The selection was good and the prices were reasonable. Even though we were the only customers for lunch or otherwise, I was starting to feel a little better about Sala Thai. Jaeng the barmaid was friendly and answered all our questions. We placed our orders. There were a couple of setbacks: out of pork... out of tofu... no sticky rice. After a short wait, the dishes started coming out one at a time. We were eating family style so that was just fine. The Pad Thai with beef came first. It was rich with the flavor of lime and had generous amounts of thinly sliced real beef (unlike Taco Bell, apparently). It was good and our first indication that previous Yelp reviews were not complete madmen! The Sala Curry with chicken came next. It was delicious! I really enjoyed this dish. Last came the... well... I'm not sure what it was. Don't get me wrong; it was good. I'm just not sure it was what we intended to order. We expected a dish with green beans and chicken. We got a dish with eggplant and chicken. It could have been us, or Jaeng, or the cook that made the mistake. Either way, it looked and tasted good so we ate it without complaint. So, if you're looking for a lunchtime adventure and like Thai, go ahead and try Sala Thai. If you're feeling really adventuresome, try going for a late dinner. If you're just plain crazy and looking to make some real lasting memories, go for a late dinner and take your wife! read more

Yeah....it is that kind of place. If you have never been to that kind of place, you might not could tell, but I have and I can , and it is. Virgin cranberry cocktail for cute (at least one) Thai girl(s), no idea how much they cost (now). This was purely from observation, might of thought I was a liquor commissioner the way I kept looking around. Sorry if I made anyone uncomfortable, but I just passed my liquor exam (again) don't be to impressed as you all probably know, it's a piece of (cup)cake. Kind of cool, hadn't been to this sort of place, this time of night in quite a while. Mostly packed with occupied pool table, darts (gotta dust my Black Widows off), ESPN, UFC (Royce Gracie was the king last time I was in one of these) on the walls. Came for take out cause dude at Fort Street Cafe can't tell 6:15 from 7 o'clock. Twice in three weeks this has happened, damn, man, I don't care when you show up or when you leave, just post it and stick to it! Piece of paper, magic marker ("a felt pen" Pulp fiction fans), scotch tape, write it, tape to glass door, not six fingers in the air. I digress, went in grabbed open booth and ask to order take out with beer now, and was accommodated promptly. Wanted to order hot ( I can drink Tabasco) and was warned away, food (beef pad Thai, red chic curry, papaya salad and Tom Yam Kun) was sweet on brow and above lip hot, just like I like it, but beautiful wife and equally beautiful twin sister added Tabasco. What can I say, my girls like it hot. Three clean plates, three happy, and 'karai' palates, next... Cupcake wars. I might die tonight! Sugar intoxication, anyone? read more

Okay, so if you find parking, and find this little hole in the wall place... Don't be too thrown off guard by the duct taped booth seating or the dirty bathroom. This place has authentic Thai food! Holy moly, was it good and clean. Start with the lettuce wraps: crispy rice, lemongrass and ginger flavor. Next was papaya salad. Sweet and spicy and fresh! Summer rolls were delicious; a whole shrimp in each piece. Phad Thai, spicy with thick noodles. And the main entree was Thai basil with chicken. I wanted pork but they were out. It was not spicy at all, so for those who love Thai but not spice ( not sure how many options there may be) this is definitely the dish for you! I'm going back to try the Thom Yum soup. Cleanliness of establishment= 3, but food gets a 5! Overall 4 stars. read more

Nice staff but the food got us sick for several days. Ordered a drink and the ice cubes had black particles in them. This is a Dept of Health violation waiting to happen. read more
