Very impressed! I ordered on Yelp which went through GrubHub. I could check the order status on Yelp, which is pretty cool. My food was very good and fresh! The veggies still had a little crunch to them which is great. I asked for level 4 spice and boy ol' boy, my sinuses are now clear! I ordered chicken and added shrimp. I feel like I received a good amount of meat. My only complaint is my rice was very mushy and I'm sure it's because of the plastic container and drive time. I will stir fry the leftovers. I've heard so much about this place and how it's the best Thai in the area. I love food and can look past the old building and love a good hole in the wall type of place. Finally had a chance to get some takeout. Everyone I was in contact with was super nice. But this "meal" was $45. I ordered 2 things for pick up and spent that much money. Don't get me wrong there are places I'd go back to for that amount but they were blow my mind amazing meals (even as takeout). These were, okay. Typical Thai takeout, nothing to say it was "the best". So while the food was good it was not $20 per item good. There Chili paste was pretty generic as well, definitely not homemade. So if you're looking for regular Thai food, and don't care about price, this place will help a craving but not worth going out of your way for. read more

They are "managing" under the current situation. We got pick-up last Tuesday and it was just a bit off. Not bad, but not worth the $40 for 2 appetizers and 2 entrees (which it usually is, so not complaining about price). A bit less well constructed, a bit less flavorful, a bit less "fresh". Hidden gem!!! I tried their cashew chicken based on another visitor's review on Google and I also tried their Tom Kha Gai soup with chicken made with coconut milk. Both were so amazing! Everything sounded great. I rarely try new things, or I keep at least one item as what I know I like. Both the entree and the soup were new to me and equally full of flavor, a delightful place to find. The spice range is 1-4. I love Frank's Hot Sauce and jalapeños. My waitress said I'm a 2. She was right on. Hot enough to clear my sinuses and throughly heat me up on the inside, but not hot enough to make my eyes tear up. Perfect heat. For my kids, I'd keep it a zero. The parking is a bit small and there aren't many spots but the restaurant is not bad. It is located in a small town area that you wouldn't expect to have the most amazing Thai food. I first tried pad see ewe, when I was in San Antonio. This is the first place on this side of the river that has pad see ewe. Even more odd, is the fact that this is the first time that I have been here. I have been taking the boyfriend to try new places, since he moved to the area. The inside of the restaurant probably needs some updating. So, if you are the prissy type you will have to get past the aged building. This is by far the best thai place I have eaten at in the Belleville area. I read the reviews from fellow yelpers and decided to try the pad thai. It was AMAZING! The flavor is a sweet flavor if that is what you like. The server did not ask me how spicy i wanted it and i forgot to tell her. Usually, I get mild, next time i will try it with mild to give it that extra kick. If you want the peanuts you will have to ask for them. I also tried the crab rangoon as an appetizer and they had great flavor, although lacking the crab part. This place is good for kids, they have plenty of high chairs. There is also plenty of seating in what looks like a small hole in the wall type place. The decor is very thai and it seems that they have a thai festival there every year according to the flier on their door. The service was great, I went on a weeknight around 8pm and there was only one table in there with me. I'm only rating my takeout experience so can't speak to in house dining. Food was ready in the 20 minutes promised. Staff was polite and quick to serve upon my entry. Fried dumplings were devoured by my kids. I didn't get one but according to them they were amazing. So if their target audience is kids 11 and under they hit it! Tom Yum soup was ok. The soup had a good initial taste but there was a lingering sourness that was a bit off putting. Pad Kee Mao was very tasty. Good flavor of salty and sweet with a. Bit of heat. Noodles were al dente so they would not fall apart. Pork was nicely cooked, tender and juicy. Would recommend this dish again. Wife got pad Thai. This was just ok. A little oily and not as much flavor as other versions i have had, but still a good fix on Thai food. Kids got chicken fried rice and noodles too. They liked them all. Meh. My biggest gripe with this place is the portion size and stinginess of sides. When I ordered the pad Thai with tofu and vegetables it I only got 5-6 pieces of tofu and a few different pieces of mushroom, carrot, and broccoli. We had four dinners ordered on June 13, 2022. The service was fast and friendly when we picked up. The food is good not real spicey but good flavor. The reason I did not give a five is because their menu isn't quite clear. My hub had the M16 which has the term "Pad" in it so we assumed fried noodles were with it, but you need to add those as a side. The dishes like red curry do not come with rice like most places so you must add sides to them. Just ask when you are ordering because they are very nice and friendly. I asked for "Thai hot" because I heard the food wasn't very hot and it was fine but not very hot. Overall good place that we would use again but order wisely. read more

Wow.....what a surprise this place was. Yelp lead me to it for lunch last week. I almost didn't pull in due to the outside appearance. It isn't bad looking, but it does appear to be a house that has been converted into this establishment. I cannot remember the name, but I am pretty sure it was #11. Them dish came with 2 crab ragoons (they were so-so), steamed rice, and the awesome entree (@heat level 3). It was excellent! Portions were good, as was the service. Of the seven Thai restaurants in St. Clair and Monroe counties, I believe SalaThai is a very close second to Thai House in Columbia. The reason for that? It's a bit more expensive, but the food is almost as good. I am enough of a regular that they call me "Mr. Roger" when I come in for a meal. As others as pointed out, it is next door to a run-down strip mall. Don't let that put you off. The lunch crowd normally includes folks from nearby Scott Air Force Base. My experience in the metro-east is that folks stationed at Scott tend to pick chain restaurants over locally owned ones, so I think that's an endorsement of sorts. The interior of SalaThai is much nicer than the exterior, and I've always received good service. The large dining room is very capable of handling groups of 20 or more. My bicycle club regularly holds winter events at SalaThai, and most people are happy about it. read more

I couldn't believe there wasn't a review for Thip's Thai! Of course, it IS in Belleville...perhaps Belleville residents haven't discovered Yelp yet. Poor souls. I worked in Belleville for 9 months, and once I discovered Thip's (about 3 months in) I went at least once a week for their lunch specials which are affordable at $7-$8. Lunch specials come with 2 crab rangoon or one spring roll. Go with the spring roll. It comes with a delicious red dipping sauce. Their Pad Thai is the most distinctive - they don't use tomato paste like most other pad thai's, and it is fairly sweet. The chicken is top quality - no gristle. My friends also raved about the yellow curry. The venue isn't much to write home about - it has the appearance of a doublewide trailer-made-restaurant. But the service is top notch, and the owners are some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. When it came time for me to leave the area, they presented me with an employee polo with the Thip's logo on it. :) read more

The Curry was marked as spicy and it was - but not unbearably so for my palette. We shared a very special moment there, as my spouse got a job offer via phone during our meal. As a regular at Sala Thai, I really appreciate having them in our neighborhood. I love Thai food, and I love to cook it. But when I'm not in the mood to cook, or there's a dish that's beyond my abilities, I know I can go to Sala and get a great meal! Their food is fresh, service is good, and their prices are reasonable. I don't want to repeat what everyone else has said, but I do want to recommend the Pad Roum Mit. It's chock full of vegetables (carrots, green beans, sprouts, and broccoli to name a few) and comes with plenty of meat. I recommend getting it as a lunch special! I also enjoy their wonton soup (it's a big bowl of it!) and Pad See Ew (wide noodle stir fried with broccoli). read more

Sala Thai is a newer Belleville establishment, meaning it is less than ten-years-old. In a town whose residents aren't quick to embrace new places, I'm so glad this joint has stuck around. It used to be called Thip's Thai, but despite the new name, this is still the best place to go for Thai food in all of Belleville and it just may take in more territory than that. I love so many things about this place; it's hard to narrow it down to just one. One of the many things I love about Sala Thai is the ambiance. It's decorated beautifully, peaceful and clean. Another thing is the selection; I always find something new and tasty. Still another great thing is that guests can control how much spice they would like from just a tingle to flame-throwing goodness.
