Based on our communication I felt valued as a patron and decided to give the place another shot. I am glad I did. The difference between the previously mentioned massage and tonight's was night and day. Tonight's massage was firm enough, and done methodically. He had a good technique and worked on tense points in my muscles. Also, I really liked that he found the pressure points in my feet and pressed those. I was also informed that the masseuse that gave me the poorly reviewed massage is no longer working at the location. Sakura Foot Massage just popped up recently, and G found a coupon for an hour massage for $25. Turns out this is the grand opening special. $25 for an hour massage treatment is a pretty amazing value. You'd be hard-pressed to find such a deal in Beijing ;) It's sort of cattle-car style (9 or 11 chairs in the main area) but the atmosphere is pretty quiet and soothing. Calming music is playing, the lights are dim, and the fully-reclining chairs are very soft and comfortable. The chinese dudes who give the massages have hands strong enough to crush bricks, so if you choose "hard" for your massage be prepared! If you don't typically try massages because they're too expensive, get over here and try it while the deal lasts! read more

Let me start off by saying I have had a few massages at Sakura and have enjoyed the service very much but as a consumer I feel the need to warn anyone buying a gift card from them. I brought in a gift card that I had misplaced that was just over a year old yesterday. After some confusion I was put on the phone with the owner who told me there gift cards expire in a year. I told him I worked in the industry for years and California State law prohibits expiration dates, he told me that it was his business and it had nothing to do with the state. Then out of the kindness I guess of his heart he said that he would honor 50 percent of the value. Oh and by the way no where on the card did it say anything about it expiring. I have had two massages from this establishment. The first time was nice but nothing special. The lack of privacy issue others have mentioned can be a bit off putting but, the positive side of it is since there are male and female therapists it made it seem more legitimate and you can see the other customers being treated with respect. Both times (the first 2 yrs ago) my friend and I came together as a treat. Last time my friend was 8 months pregnant and they tailored her massage to be more relaxing and soothing. This time we both were VERY happy with our therapists and the quality of the massages given. For $30 we got the longer of the two foot and body massage specials. Cici, the lady that gave me my massage was amazing. I need deep tissue massages. I honestly was not expecting this massage to be as thorough as it was. I have paid a LOT more for deep tissue massage at other spa's and I was VERY pleasantly surprised when she went to work on the areas that always are an issue. My hips, back and neck were in dire need of some deep work. Cici got right in there and really did a great job. Keep in mind I think these therapist probably work at a minimum percentage for each service. Tipping generously is happily and gratefully accepted. These therapists are licensed and although English is not their primary language they definitely know what they are doing. If they do a good job, give them more than 20%, they definitely earned it. read more

I came to this place years ago when it first opened. I have irregularly visited many times whenever I come to town to see my family. While a $25 massage is pretty good, I can say that the quality and service is not as good as it used to be. Thus, my 2-star review of "I've experienced better" because that is true for Sakura! However, you get what you pay for, right? It isn't like you're spending $160 for an hour massage at a fancy hotel or day spa. For $25, you get a decent massage that is a blend between a massage, accupressure, chiropractic adjustment, and meat tenderizer. It can be quite satisfying and a little surprising if you aren't used to this style. The ambiance is dark and comfortable with smooth mood music playing. There are about half-dozen beds and ottomans that are covered with towels so that you're not laying in a previous client's space. It feels quite clean. You lay back with your feet in a bucket of hot, hot water while someone gets to work on your head. You're worked on from top to bottom, front and back, while clothed. I recommend wearing loose clothing, not tight jeans or anything. You can also get a room for $40 an hour where it's behind a curtain and you have more a more traditional massage experience where you'll be down to your underwear and are tastefully draped with a sheet or towel. But, as I said, it used to be better. When I used to go more frequently, the place was pretty busy. They had an attentive front desk employee who'd give you a clip board to fill out your information and your problem areas. There were always a decent number of staff on hand. They were always predictable, solid massages. Tonight, I went in for the first time in a couple of years and I'm going to have to agree with other unhappy reviews. I went in at 6pm and was the only person there but it took a few minutes before an employee came to the front. I had to pay upfront (they used to have you pay at the end) and I noticed a sign about how tips aren't mandatory but their employees rely on tips and they had suggestions about how much to give. Reading another review about how someone chased a client out to her car after she gave $5 for a tip and the owner responded on here, making a statement that employees live on the tips, makes me greatly question the business's integrity. If employees rely on tips, are they not getting paid an hourly wage? Isn't that illegal to pay employees only in tips? If employees are getting paid so poorly, that a 20% tip isn't enough ($5 of $25 is 20% which is more than acceptable in the service industry), then what's wrong here? Pay the employees more and make the massages $35? I don't know. It's weird. They also make a statement on another paper in the spa that they do not accept tips written on credit card slips, which I am suspicious over, as well. If tips are written on a credit card, those tips have to be claimed. That, plus the passive aggressive flyer about employees needing tips, plus the owner's response? That all has REALLY soured my opinion of this place. Anyway, I was the only one for a while. There were two employees I saw, including the woman at the front desk who ended up there. I'll give the short story -- my massage was interrupted no fewer than three times. She had to keep jumping up to attend to someone who came in plus answering the phone. I was more than annoyed after the second time it happened but I felt bad because maybe they were short staffed and she was stretched thin. I get it, it happens. But then I read reviews here from 2017 that say the same thing happened to them. I didn't get any extra time or any apology for the sudden interruptions. The masseuse was nice and the massage was okay, but not as good as it used to be. I felt very rushed as if she was trying to hurry through it. It wasn't very relaxing and not at all the quality experience like I've had years before. If I had written this review five years ago, it would be five stars. Not anymore. Oh, and the print-out they displayed from Yelp was an obviously old screen capture, showing their previous four-star average versus the (at the time of writing this) 3.5 stars they have now. What a shame. If only they listened to people's reviews and tried to bring it back to where it used to be, then I could recommend this place! But I can't in good conscience do that. read more

If you're lazy to get undressed and just need a quick fix, then this is the place for you. However, if you have a lot of tensions then, you may want to go else where. For the price, it isn't bad. I finally went because I wanted to try it out. Don't be mistaken by the price, I didn't want the foot massage, I only needed them to work on my upper back, shoulder, neck area, so the receptionist said that it would cost $50/hr. WTH?!! Why would that be more expensive?? But a whole body massage will cost $25/hr. Also, I got a staff that doesn't speak English. I am in search for a great masseuse or masseur because I have knots & have a lot of tensions since my parents moved in. I found 2 in Orange County, but the perfect masseuse from R&R Thai Spa is no longer in the country and the other one is a bit expensive. Overall, this place is a great entertainment if you have people coming into town or a place to go after your 3 hours shopping, but I wouldn't recommend for people who has long-term-knots-tensions-parents-moved-into-your-house-stress-problems. read more

My husband likes this place more then I do. He gets a lot of tention in his neck, and they always make him feel refreshed and new when we leave. They gave us a private room, which was nice. We get the 1 hour massage with hot stones. The things I don't like is they changed people on me, my girl got a phone call and it was not on vibrate, so she left and a man finished me up. The other thing is I found someone who did a fantastic job but she is no longer there. Why do they always leave? 2nd thing was I was quoted a price in Nov. 2014 so when I came in this time wanting the same thing they wanted to charge me more, but she said she would do the stones for free this time. I paid for 90min -$40 service at this location and right away the owner makes you pay first which is tacky in my opinion. Then the masseuse (female) seemed as though she didn't know what she was doing at all. I always get massages so I'm familiar with them. It really sucked overall here. Here's the best part, when I on my way out I realized I had no cash, so I asked if I could put it on my bill I already paid upon arrival. Came in for a full body massage and it hardly felt like a massage at all. They have good prices but that doesn't mean anything if the massage was terrible. The masseuse pretty much just ran hands over my body, there was no searching knots and relieving those knots. I actually feel worse after the massage. I don't know if the product they used is what made me itchy but I will not be coming back. Update: Manager called to apologize and offered a refund and another massage on the house. This place is like most of the foot massage places that are popping up in the IE. I have visited others so I am able to compare the pros and cons of each location. This place is 25 per hour if you want a 15 minute body massage and 45 minute foot massage but really? Who wants that? It is 35 dollars if you want more minutes spent massaging your body. The receptionist was nice and trying to sell gift cards and more. The massage was better because they will customize it to your preference. It is one large dimly lit room with several chairs.
