Pork yaki udon noodles and dynamite roll
    Emily T.

I love that this restaurant has Japanese, Thai, and Chinese options for when you want some of everything! The sushi rolls were all very good and would definitely order again. Our favorite was the Tsunami roll with white fish, tuna and salmon inside. I believe the menu we got on the door was Sakura Cafe III. We were surprised to see udon noodles as we love them but can hardly find them anywhere in the city! The pork was a little dry but the noodles were very good. We are used to drunken noodles being a bit spicier but I am sure many ppl will love them just like this. Great customer service, they even included an extra sushi roll for being a first time order. We are not used to such thoughtful service and will definitely be ordering again!

11/28: Called in delivery so the restaurant wouldn't pay the fees; their delivery fee is higher but all items ordered were priced lower than the online peddlers and worked out cheaper in my favor. The sui mono soup was basically broth, and that broth was very good! Don't underestimate a simply done yet complex tasting bowl of broth. The salad was fresh and the dressing was delish. Crabmeat wontons were typical. Side thought: why aren't Baltimore restaurants making fresh, in-house crabmeat wontons?!? And the sakura roll was good.

As you can see from my previous review, we did not have the best experience the first time. But tonight was absolutely amazing. I think we must've just caught them on an off day the last time. This time everything was perfect. The entire staff was kind, warm, welcoming, and helpful. Our waitress, Greeta, was absolutely amazing. And when I say amazing, I mean really stupendous. We got the chicken fingers for my youngest daughter, and they came with a marinara sauce. But of course she wanted ketchup. We asked Greeta if they had any ketchup and as it turns out, they did not. But Greeta went to another restaurant nearby and brought back some packets of ketchup. If that isn't going above and beyond, then I don't know what is. The food was absolutely stellar. We got a lot of things and shared them, but some favorites even amongst all the deliciousness were the whipped ricotta, the Caesar salad, the chicken marsala, the diver scallop entrée, and the tuna appetizer. The cocktails and wine were also fabulous. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars and now we can't wait to go back!

I recently went to Marta hoping for a great experience. I saw the chef was recently nominated for…read morethe 2026 James Beard Award: Mid-Atlantic. Whenever I see a local restaurant/chef nominated for such an award, I try to get there to see what it is all about. Unfortunately, my first visit was not good. It began with our seating. For this outing, I was with my wife. We arrived and were immediately seated at a small two-seated table directly in front of the main entrance. The restaurant was extremely busy, and the table we were seated at was basically at the crossroads of all the traffic. Also, the location was very cramped and made it hard to move. With that, the worse of the problems was actually being so close to the main entrance on a cold evening. The door was constantly opening and closing allowing blasts of frigid air each time. That made our seating exceptionally uncomfortable. I can sometimes look past bad seating, understanding that it is important to get as many people in so the restaurant can make money. Many times great food can make up for shortcomings in other parts of a restaurant. Moreover, amazing service can really make me forget about those seating issues. To start, we got the Arancini Funghi appetizer. To my concern, it seemed to come out exceptionally fast: about 4-minutes after we ordered. And wouldn't you know it, the arancini was frozen most of the way through. It took a decent amount of time for the server to return, he was very nice, and took the frozen appetizer away. It took over 10-minutes for a new one to come out. At that point I was agitated. When I tried the new arancini appetizer that was brought out, it was cooked well, but had almost zero flavor. Needless to say, I was done for the night. After another long break of waiting for the server, who was very attentive to a four-top a few tables away, came back, I told him to cancel my order. My wife did get hers. Now, back to the service. We went for long intervals without our server coming to see how we were doing or trying to actually remedy the situation. He was constantly focused on the four-top that I guess was going to be the better tip. I guess since I had canceled my main course, he knew the tip would not be as good. In any case, the service was lackluster for the whole evening. My wife got the Ricotta Cavatelli that came with lobster. To me, it looked too soupy. She said it was a little soupy but was good. Personally, I did not try it and was ready to go. In the end, we were also charged for the arancini appetizer that had to be re-fired. I was not happy about that. If a restaurant makes a mistake, the customer should not be charged for it even if they receive a re-fired replacement. Our server, even though very nice, was not very attentive to us and more worried about a four-top. The frozen arancini was frustrating. The re-fired replacement was flavorless. Our table was in a terrible location and we were constantly blasted by gusts of cold air the whole time. In the end, the experience was not good. Will I return to give Marta a second chance? Yes. I don't like writing negative reviews, but the experience was bad enough for me to write one. When I return, and the experience is much better, I will write a new positive review. Until then, 2 stars is all I can give.

My husband had the veggie omelet and really appreciated the kale swap for a traditional veggie omelet that would include spinach. We both cleaned our plates- portion size was perfect. My friend said I had to come here. We did. As soon as we stepped out of the Uber the adventure began. The building is so out dated but the entrance door held its charm. Neon lit Edgar portrait reading from a book his Annabel Lee. Complete with a bouquet of flowers. To the right more words of the writer surrounded with a few tables and chairs for those willing to chill in the cold. Inside was no different. Several crows, skulls everything you'd expect. And a well stocked bar. Many writings on the wall, articles, awards, etc all added to the vibe and theme. And of course dimly lit but you could still read the menu. We were guided to the back for our party of 5, in a corner away from everyone else. That made it easy for us to converse as we perused the menu exclaiming this and that of the dreadful names used and deathly ingredients mixed in. It definitely made it more appetizing. After working all day I was ready for a drink and settled on the To Isadore; gin, lavender syrup, lemon squeeze topped with segura cava. That hit the spot. Unfortunately, I had eaten quite a bit on this trip and forced myself to order the Chef Salad. Nothing more to say there. My wife, though, ordered the seafood lasagna. Never had that and it didn't sound like something I could get into. I was wrong. This is Baltimore. The seafood here is astounding. It was delicious and had to take a couple spoon fulls. My friend ordered the double beef patty burger. I was jealous until he offered me a bite. That was really good too, and juicy. If you're looking for an experience and are not too afraid you may want to visit Annabel's. I do recommend it and do insist coming after the sun has been well down.

It's so wonderful to come across genuine people who are funny and kind in this world. Our server and the owner were so fun and so funny and so nice. It truly felt like visiting a friends restaurant. The vibes are homey, almost feels like a library but not quite, very cozy very comfy. Food: Tomato Mozarella, this was my two fav things in one. Tomato and burrata/mozarella, and prosciutto and melon. Delicious. 10/10. Prawns: so good, so flavorful, and I typically am not a shrimp/prawn girl. Skirt Steak: this was such a juicy and moist (sorry) steak. I don't like chimmichurri (cannot spell that omg) but it was good! The fries were also a winner. Moroccan Hen: this felt like a cookout bbq to be honest but in the best way. It's super flavorful, very smoky, and SO juicy. Drinks: watermelon marg, orange espresso cocktail, and I cannot remember the blue drinks name but all delicious. I fear this is my fav espresso martini to date. Dessserts: the Poe's nest and the Ruby & Emerald. Delicious. No notes.

A few of us came early and got drinks at the speakeasy upstairs which I definitely recommend! It had a great drink menu and cool vibe. For actual dinner, the restaurant itself had an eclectic menu and swanky decor. The service was spotty. I had to ask for water refills 2x. Also for a group of 12, it took about 7 mins for everyone to be served food. Yes, this is a large party, so you must have several servers come bring the food when you're charging these prices. It should've been a seamless experience but we had several friends waiting on their food while others were halfway through. The food quality itself was hit or miss. The pork belly app was delicious! Crispy and tender. But the octopus was overly chewy and weird. We had 2 dishes with it and both were cooked like that, it wasn't good. The lobster poutine was delicious and went quick. Paella was okay - the shellfish was overcooked and seemingly dried up. Drinks were good and staff was friendly. Overall, there are a lot of kinks to work out. I'd like to come back but at the price point, I wish our experience was better and wish the food was more consistently good.

I actually found Union Hill while planning my friend's 40th birthday dinner from another state, and from the moment I reached out, everything just flowed. I inquired about hosting a dinner and one of the owners, Matt, got back to me within a day. From there, the planning felt effortless. He answered all my questions, stayed in communication, and really helped bring the whole vision together. We had close to 30 people for the dinner in one of their private dining areas, and when I say the staff was impeccable... they were ON IT. My friend had no idea where she was going, so this was a full surprise. Once we gave the staff the green light, they were ready and immediately started accommodating everyone. Everything just flowed from there. We did family-style appetizers, which I loved because everyone got to try a little bit of everything. Everything was flavorful and came out at the perfect pace. For my entrée, I had the salmon and it was so good. And listen... I hosted the whole thing, ate there that night, AND still had leftovers to take home. That's always a win. They were also super accommodating leading up to the event. I was able to drop off the cake and cake pops the evening before, and I was even able to decorate the private dining area, which made everything feel really personal. What could have easily been a stressful experience ended up feeling seamless. The restaurant atmosphere is beautiful. The private dining area worked perfectly for our group, and they even have an upstairs outdoor area as well as a downstairs outdoor space, which I didn't get to experience this time but definitely want to the next time I go back. I'm so grateful I came across Union Hill Kitchen & Craft Bar. It made such a special occasion even better.
