I heard about this restaurant several times and finally got a chance to have dinner there this past weekend. The wonderful thing about it is that they take reservations and when you walk in to be seated, they have a table waiting for you. The restaurant itself is off the water with tons of yachts. Sitting down with a glass of wine and watching the sunset was absolutely marvelous, but not as exciting as the meal itself. We all had salads which was scrumptious. One of them was actually a watermelon salad that I had never tasted before, and gobbled the entire thing up. I ordered a pork chop Milanese that was so big and so delicious that I took 2/3 of it home to have for dinner the following evening. My husband has lobster tails and he said that they were really good. The portions are very large, and absolutely delicious. This definitely is my number 1 Favorite Pl. on the treasure coast. This is no doubt a beautiful fun location... however... we arrived a party of 7 with reservations, and they had banked on a table before us being finished so we could have that table...ps...there were other large tables that could have accommodated us. We were seated in the area where the band plays...LATE... that is the key here...we were delayed because of the delay with the table... so you guessed it... we were being served dinner while people were dancing and putting their drinks on our table. Look it is good food... but it is too expensive to be sitting in the middle of a dance floor. I would be remiss if I did not mention that it is a huge "meat market"... wow there were a lot of people there looking for a hookup.. how would we know? Wonderful selections on the menu. Food was excellent! It was nice to set outside. One of us had fish chips, another the Mahi Rachel sandwich, one a Grilled Mahi Sandwich with perfect sweet potatoes, and one a a Club Sandwich. All was perfect! The iced tea was brewed as I like and the mixed drink we got was great too! The only thing that would make it a 5 star is a friendly hostess. Also, no one knew we were seated without a server. We came to see the band and decided to eat there, too . Amazing cocktails, amazing food. We had the Pussers Pain Killer and it is the best! Baby Iceberg Wedge Salad and Skirt Steak were wonderful, cooked perfectly, full of flavor. Did I mention it is on the river? Great views of the water, nice breeze to keep us cool. Started off poorly. Had a reservation for outside upper patio under a heater and only got the outside part. I expressed my disappointment to the manager that seated our party of 8 who agreed to find portable heaters. He returned after a few minutes saying they were unable to bring heaters to the table. He then offered to reseat us under a heater after "moving some things around." We also enjoyed an excellent meal after all this and truly appreciate the effort made by the manager. read more

The most disappointing Thanksgiving meal I have ever had. Instead of fresh turkey they served some kind of processed meat that appeared like a thick cut cold cut. I can't even think of how they would consider such a thing, but it happened and I think they should be embarrassed. read more

Food was excellent Service was terrible. The server himself was as good as possible based on management and the kitchen. So, we had 4 people at a Thanksgiving 3:00 meal. The weather was terrific, the ambiance was outstanding. One person in our party ordered Pork Tenderloin and unfortunately, it came out rare. So, we sent the pork back and then proceeded to start our wait. After 12 minutes, nothing. We asked for a manager and it took her 10 minutes to get to us. She delivered a brand new Pork dish. You have to understand that we waited 25 minutes from when we asked for more heat. The other 3 of us were now finished eating and our meals were already packed. So now she is eating dby herself. I told the manager of how our meal was ruined and she responded by telling me that she wasn't going to charge us for the Pork. Really. Several items: 1. Waiter should have asked how she wanted it cooked. Not just order it medium, which he agreed came out rare. 2. It should NEVER take 25 minutes to reheat food 3. When I asked for a manager, it shouldn't take 10 minutes for her to come over 4. I still spent $250.00 for what turned out to be a very miserable experience 5. Just my opinion, but maybe offer drinks on the house or desert. Bottom Line: A manager could have controlled this entire event by being proactive with any disgruntled customer. Last evening my husband and I dined here. After a just an OK meal, our waiter brought our check for $133.00. When we placed our $100 gift card down along with a credit card, we were informed they were unable to accept our gift card, their "system was down." We are leaving this week and this was our only night to redeem this card. The manager was absolutely no help, asked us if we saw the sign. In a very crowded noisy place, no we did not see the sign, nor were we informed we couldn't redeem our card prior to dining. When my husband insisted we pay for the balance of the check plus the tip, rather than try to work with us, the manager threatened to call the police. We also had the paid receipt our son used to purchase it. No offer was made to accept the gift card and run it through whenever their system was back up. We were not about to put the entire bill plus tip on our credit card. My husband put cash on the table for our waiter's tip and we walked out. Third strike for Sailor's Return. Great food. Great drinks. Ate outdoors because of our puppy and was wonderful location with nice sunset. Took one star because only parking is valet only (they share parking lot with large marina), while free (except for tip), had to wait because many folks were leaving the same time. A bit pricey, but worth it. They charged $6 to split an entree, but added more asparagus and mashed potatoes. So worth it. And entree portions were still good. Would come again but not too soon because of pricing. read more

Great food and atmosphere. Only reason I gave a 4 star was because there was 2 employees arguing in front of the building when we arrived. Managers should have stepped in and stopped it. I checked in here four times so I keep coming back for a reason! The food is good, if somewhat pricey, but the view of the water and outdoor seating are the reason it can charge these prices. Lunch prices are more reasonable. Yesterday, we came for lunch with another couple. I had the special salad with poached pears, feta cheese and grilled chicken. It was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the Mahi tacos and although the waitress said it was fresh Mahi, my husband thought it was made from frozen fish. The fish was a little tough and dry. We both also ordered the seafood chowder, and although it came with large chunks of clams and seafood, I sent mine back. It was so thick and gooey, it was more like a pudding than soup. I've had much better. I do recommend this restaurant, especially if you can sit outside. And, I will return! read more

This place has been a favorite for us since it opened, but apparently there has been a change allowing for both food and service to slip. Time to find another waterfront restaurant that doesn't rely completely on atmosphere. Public parks in Stuart provide plenty of that. read more

Met some friends for a meal, all of our first time at the restaurant. Food was good, a bit on the pricey side, but I'd go again to eat....aside from one issue. I normally don't call out servers, but ours, Stephanie, was either having a bad evening or has an attitude. We weren't sure which through the entire meal. From start to finish we didn't appreciate her demeanor towards us as she came across as annoyed with us each and every time we talked to her or asked a question about the menu; to the point we felt she was rude throughout the meal. If we visit the restaurant again and she's our server. We'll either ask for a different server or go elsewhere. Again, food was good and we'd visit again for the food. But the server ruined the meal. read more

Fun atmosphere, good view, live band, food usually good. Have had a good time here 18 out of 20 times. Problems I've had is with some staff that act snooty. Saturday Feb 8th 7pm sat at a bar table. It was sticky and wet. I asked the barback behind the bar for a rag to wipe it down. He responded that I was rude because I didn't say please. I was shocked. So he hands me a rag & I wipe the table and give it back to him and said here's the filthy rag I had to wipe the table with. The tag was then almost black. The table was disgusting. A couple mins later the bartender came to us and said she heard what happened and she couldn't believe he talked like that. She apologized and said he shouldn't even be having interaction with the customers. She was great and attentive. I called Sun afternoon and spoke with a manager, think Kelly. I am sad to put this review. I have gone about 4 times since moving to Stuart and went last Monday, so disappointed. The wait was way too long especially for seafood.For their prices i expect fish dishes to be cooked.We ordered grouper and also scallops and neither were cooked.The manager should have done more than he did especially since we were all done eating except for my husband with who waited for someone to acknowledge us, he finally got up and got someones attention. One of our favorite restaurants: we go here often for lunch, and always sit outdoors, where we can watch the sailboats in the marina. The waitstaff are very attentive--they keep our drinks filled and check on us regularly. The food is standard Florida cuisine--lots of fish, steaks, sandwiches, salads--but the pleasant ambiance and excellent service make it one of our regular hangouts. read more

There was mediocre food with a pricey menu...when you are charging price points way above average,there should be some inspiration from the kitchen..this was sorely lacking. WOW - what a location and perfect for anyone from out of town that doesn't get to see the beauty of Florida all the time! We were a party of 4, for lunch on a cloudy Sunday afternoon in the middle of the holiday season. We were greeted promptly and sat on the beautiful deck overlooking the nearby marina. Service was top-notch and super friendly. The lunch specials were great and that French Dip sandwich was one of the best I have ever had!!! WOW!!! ( 2 weeks later, and YEP - still fresh in my mind how awesome it was!!) Rest of my table raved about the fresh fish tacos (Grouper) and the Eggplant Stack which apparently is a specialty of Sailor's Return!!! Stopped in on Memorial Day for lunch on our way home to Orlando. I had the blackened magi tacos, hubs had the burger. Both were seasoned to perfection and the temp in the mid rare burger was nailed! Awful! No other words can describe it. I have it a two because the view is lovely. Our server, Elizabeth, was rude and impatient. Not even finished with our appetizer and kept asking if we wanted to take it. When she told us the specials, she had about as much enthusiasm as a rock. Our food came out so fast, there is absolutely no way they cooked it from scratch! We all had fish. Three of us had the special and 1 had the tuna. The plate was hotter than the fish. The tuna was stringy and zero flavor. For the tuna having a "sear" on it, it was the coldest seared tuna ever received. When I complained to the server, she told me "well you should have told me earlier and I would have taken it off the bill" .... I hadn't even eaten 1/4 of it. She was so pushy to get us from our table, never refilled any water or tea, and was not happy when we didn't order dessert and were still sitting at our table. We finally got up and left because she was so awful. Let's talk about leaving.... valet brings our car around, the parking lot is packed and someone hits the back of our car. No manager came out. We took pictures and exchanged info with the other driver, who was in such a hurry that it is costing him a pretty penny to fix the massive damage to the back of our car. No apology or help from the staff. If you want a view, excellent, but don't expect exceptional food or service. What a disaster. read more

This was out 1st time dining here as friends we were with had suggested it because of the great location on the water & great food. I had the sunset steak and potato combo and my wife had the sunset short ribs. Our server Erin was awesome. She was professional, explaining how the sunset menu items worked and answered all our questions regarding the food we were going to order. The restaurant is on the water and that was perfect for us. Considering the COVID challenges, this place really handled everything that made us all feel safe. We need to support these restaurants and their employees. We came here during a visit with family and found out on BringFido that the patio is dog friendly. We had a great table overlooking the bay with a nice breeze and under some shade. My husband and his Aunt who are both from the New England area both had the special which was a lobster roll which they both said was the best that they ever had.
