Many days we just do "Happy Hours" for dinner. You know, find a good restaurant with a bar that has good happy hour offerings. Magic Oyster fit the criteria above so we thought we'd give it a try. When we arrived, the place was packed but we were lucky to grab two spots at the bar as a couple was just leaving. We ordered some drinks and oysters and had a great time. Oysters were delicious and the bar which was staffed with two great bartenders surrounded by a lively crowd. Then we ordered some more drinks and some more oysters. We will have to try the restaurant some day but know we will be back here for Happy Hour soon. read more

One of my favorite restaurants on Hutchinson Island! We grabbed a booth for four for a Saturday lunch and were quickly seated and served. I ordered a shrimp po boy while my boyfriend got the crunchy grouper sandwich. Seafood was fresh and as reasonably priced as it gets in South Florida. The ambiance is really cute too, like the inside of a cozy ship. The restaurant offers a wide variety of booth, bar, and table seating, as well as a shaded patio outback. We stopped in while visiting the area and were treated to an awesome meal in a relaxed atmosphere. My husband had the snapper almondine, which was tender, not greasy, and very flavorful. I had the stuffed shrimp, stuffed with a crab cake style filling that was mostly crab and very tasty. Our waitress Keianna was attentive and fun to chat with. Food was expensive for the content - a lot of the food was bland and not super flavorful. The summertini cocktail was not good. $32 for 5 ravioli - I feel like that's steep, especially when they were a little too Al dente.. The shrimp scampi was bland. The tuna nachos (tuna tartare) was actually good. The service took a little while - I think our waitress was overloaded with patrons. My chocolate martini was good. As far as the vibe, I've been here before so I knew what to expect, it's just pretty regular. For such a high review honestly I expected a little more bang for your buck. We've been here 3 times now and the first time was good - second time was okay, but our crab legs were super over done. And this time we had a little more issues. I have Celiac Disease and it is medically necessary that I eat a gluten free diet or become very sick. I told my server about my condition, ordered something off the menu that had a gluten free symbol next to it. (A salad for reference) For some reason my salad came out with a dinner roll on the side of the plate touching my salad. Completely unacceptable. That's like throwing some peanuts on the side of a nut allergy plate. Highly disappointed. Inflation seems to have affected most restaurants. Some of them even take advantage and raise their prices way above what would be considered understandable. The Magic Oyster could show these other places how to operate a restaurant serving excellent food at still very reasonable prices. Every time I eat there, I am extremely pleased with the food, service, atmosphere, and prices. No ripping off, no nickel-and-diming the patrons. I had the special lobster and shrimp, artichokes hearts in a light sauce over linguini. It was $32...which is probably the most expensive item on the menu. When I say that there was an abundance on lobster and shrimp, I mean it. As Joe Biden is fond of saying, "I'm not kidding!" Usually, when both are included the shrimp overtake the dish because it is the least expensive. Not here. Three of us had this dish...everyone was thrilled with the flavor and price. The fourth person had the Parmesan encrusted cod and he loved it. We had a great waitress...if she's reading this, we were the people who had the pineapple allergy issue! You were great! I have been here too many times to count as I live on the island. I have tried numerous dishes and have never had a complaint other than the pasta was overcooked once. The next time, I asked for Al dente and they did it. Many, many items on the menu. It's a great little gem on Hutchinson Island. Maybe I shouldn't talk it up so much. This place, conveniently right across from our hotel, was amazing. The fish spread was exceptional. The clam chowder was unbelievably amazing, the best I've had outside of New England. My beet salad wasn't the best only because there were huge chunks of onion throughout that was overbearing and the beets were still in large circles, not cut into bite size chunks which was weird. I don't honestly remember what my husband got but he thought it was very good. The key lime pie was not the slam dunk I expected but was decent. I would go back just for the clam chowder. read more

Food was decent. I went during happy hour to take advantage of specials. Was seated in main area and had to ask about happy hour specials and was told they weren't offered in main dining area. We had to move to the bar area. (This might be SOP in most restaurants, but I don't normally eat dinner at 4:30 like an 80 yr old). We on vacation there for a week and I planned to go there several times but two of the times I pulled up during regular business hours, they weren't open, one day it was a water leak, and a couple days later it was some electrical or equipment issues. Not the end of the world, there are several options in the area and ended up trying places further away from our condo. What a great place! We had a fun time here. Ambiance is very laid back with lots local people hanging out. Server was super attentive & friendly. This a full bar restaurant. Food was really good! We had fresh oysters which, at the time we visited was $1 per oyster so order as m at as you want!! We didn't order them on this visit, but they do also have Blue Point Oysters. Just FYI as they are hard to find in Florida! I had the horseradish encrusted grouper on garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. It was soooooo good!! What went well? EVERYTHING!!!! Sat at bar and got there between 3-5 for their GREAT price on oysters!!! We each had one dozen and they cleaner than clean served with horseradish and sauce, lemon it was a treat that was fresh and delicious. I had high hopes for this place. My brother wanted oysters, so we chose this spot. Overall the food was pretty good. The crab bombs and lobster & corn fritters were both very good. The oysters were tiny and not marked that way on the menu, so that was disappointing. The stuffed shrimp entree was pretty good, but had a weird bechamel I didn't care for. Again, the food was pretty good. I was very disappointed with the service. I believe she had 2-3 tables. We had dishes stacked on our table and empty drinks for at least 15 minutes. Stuffed Shrimp plate: Yellow Squash was water logged, cole slaw overly wet and stuffed shrimp felt like it came out the freezer to the microwave with some sauce that's been hanging out in an open container in the fridge for a week. Appetizer:Cheese tasting clam chowder??? 2nd Appetizer: Marinara sauce with water logged onions and bell peppers smeared on the plate before plopping down fried calamari for an extra cost. I'm not going to even start to expound on my husband's meal. I'm normally not a two star rater but this is by far my worst meal in Fort Pierce I've had up to date. Seafood Was in the area to meet some friends who were vacationing and we wanted to meet up for drinks / dinner. The Magic Oyster is a busy, medium sized seafood (primarily) restaurant / bar sitting on the corner of a strip mall just across from the ocean. The place gets hopping, mostly from proximity to all the hotels I would guess. I got there a little early so hit the bar for an adult beverage. Bartender was good but a little slow- to be fair it was busy to no real complaint there. Drink was made well and I managed to snag a barstool. Friends showed up and we ordered some more cocktails and headed outside to the table. Paying the bar tab took longer than usual as bartender was missing in the back for a few and the service bartender was slow to ring me up. Table outside was in a small courtyard kind of thing with a lot of nautical decor. Nice enough for sitting. Took a bit of time before someone actually showed up at the table. Menu is not huge but there seemed to be a lot of choices on there. I believe there was one entree special for the night as well. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was fine - nothing to wow you - but solid, 3-star food. I had a shrimp po-boy, which I know breaks my rules about not eating regional foods outside the region they come from, and I proved myself correct. Essentially a hotdog bun with lettuce, tomato / mayo, and some fried shrimp scattered over it. The shrimp were fried well at least, so I just ate those. Fries that came with it were decent. Friends ate their meals but again, no one was raving but it wasn't horrible. We started getting attacked by the evening flies and managed to order dessert. We opted for key lime pie and that was good but by then the flies were out in force and we had to get the hell inside in a hurry - we met waiter near front desk to settle up, that's hoe bad it got. We came here on a Friday night around 8 pm. It was really nice. The service was fast and friendly, the food was great and the restaurants decor was nice too. I had the bourbon glazed salmon and it was really good. The price for 2 was just over $60. Definitely will be back when I'm in town. read more

Great atmosphere and pleasant waitstaff. Most of the food was done very well, but perhaps there were some issues in the kitchen the night we ate there. Escargot appetizer had grit in it, so much that one had to be spit out. The main entrees were good, but lukewarm when brought out. The waitress was dismissive of the grit in the escargot and said "maybe it was the mushroom they were on top of" - but why would it matter what the cause of the sand/dirt was? read more

I'm writing this in hopes that the management will see and read it and correct some things. This used to be one of our favorites in the area, but the last few visits have not been anywhere up to the previous times. My wife and I both ordered the bisque, which apparently had been cooking for days, you could stand a spoon up in it, and it was salty beyond belief......didn't even taste like a bisque. My friend ordered the fish reuben, he reports that it was mostly soggy cole slaw with a very thin piece of fish, and was not happy with it. I had was supposed to be a crunchy fish sandwich, again like my friend's sandwich, it was just barely crunchy, mostly soggy, and pretty much tasteless. Sad to say, we have taken the Oyster off our good eats list. read more
