Some logistics to know about: you can get validated parking at the Embassy Suites for $15 (4 hours). If you want free street parking, you'll need to come much earlier and give yourself extra time to get to check-in. Check-in itself is super easy annd it's inside the Outrigger near Monkeypod. The staff is genuinely kind and welcoming from the start. They give a quick safety talk and then walk you down to the boat You'll step into the water to board and you're not allowed to wear shoes, so honestly don't even bother bringing any. It's a catamaran with nets to sit on (my favorite spot) plus regular seating and plenty of space to move around. Unlimited drinks are included and the crew constantly checks in to see if you need anything. Both times I've gone we've seen whales, which feels so special! It is definitely choppy so if you get seasick easily this might not be your move. If you're a water baby though, you'll thoroughly enjoy this experience! It also gets windy, so bring a jacket. If you love being on the water, sunsets, and a fun but relaxed vibe, this is such a good option. Highly recommend!

However, the boat had to come back and get me off the top of the submarine and it was very embarrassing and once again, I cannot say enough about how well the staff handled it and didn't make me feel silly. or stupid at all. I even bought some of the photos to laugh about the incident later. We had already gotten the military discount, but they offered to refund my portion of the submarine ride, which I very much appreciated. I would recommend this company to all of my friends. My sons loved seeing the 9 sea turtles & Hawaiian wildlife.

Please note: zero amenities exist directly at the beach (no public restrooms, showers, lifeguards, or trash cans). Fortunately, some of the locals have placed trash bins near the beach entry ways. Parking is easily accessible if you don't mind walking. Parking directly on Mokulua Drive and Aalapapa Drive is permanently banned. Visitors typically park at Kailua Beach Park (about 0.8 miles away) and walk or bike over. We found parking on a side road a few blocks away (didn't get towed) and we stayed for several hours.

My wife and I chartered with Sail Blue Hawaii to truly experience sailing. Our Captain heard that we were not just interested in the more idyllic sunset cruse but truly looking for the wind and the waves. As the bow of the boat cut through the waves and we began to be powered by only the wind in our sails the experience was amazing. Realizing that we were truly enjoying our time our Captain felt free to really sail and the boat proudly responded to her commands. The boat seemed proud to show off truly sailing! With a little more wind in the forecast we watched other boats returning home under power, sails down as if in defeat. Ha! But our boat in her pride had sails up, no engine running, and we set off! Always within control we had full confidence in our Captain's proficiency and safety. Essentially Sail Blue Hawaii was willing to listen to what we wanted. If we had wanted a calm cruse and to fake it like the others. We would have been well taken care of. But we also were able to go out and really sail because we were heard and what we wanted was taken into account! Thank you so much!!! read more

What an amazing way to watch the sunset, see a different perspective of Diamond Head and the beautiful mountains of Oahu as the backdrop to Honolulu!!! Kaikiwi is a magnificent sailboat with an even more magnificent captain. Capt. Gaelyn took us on a very smooth sail around Waikiki to take in Diamond Head at one end of the island and back into the sunset at the other end. We enjoyed stories of her many sailing adventures (starting as a teenager), especially the ones where there were 2 crews crossing the Pacific. We were able to walk / sit all the way to the bow where we took some of our best photos. My nephew especially enjoyed this experience. Sailing in the Pacific Ocean with it's warm breeze, waves and every shade of blue, is a must for anyone who wants to thoroughly experience Hawaii. By the way, you can have an even more adventurous sail if you'd like. Capt. Gaelyn guided us towards a more smoother ride as we were enjoying the conversation and sunset. read more

Our adventure with Sail Blue Hawaii was absolutely amazing! What I loved about Captain Gaelyn was her calm and grounded presence, how much she taught us (both technicalities and hands-on/getting the feel for the art of sailing), her incredible sailing stories, and the beautiful adventure she took us on as we learned and shared stories. I had booked a 4 hr private lesson + sail to surprise my partner who has always wanted to sail. From the moment I reached out to inquire about what Captain Gaelyn offered, she was warm and so easy to work with. She gave us such a unique experience to both have an amazing experience of being out on the ocean in a sail boat as well as letting us learn at our own pace. My husband and I sailed for a half-day jaunt with Cpt Gaelyn on Kaikiwi. It was fun, peaceful, invigorating and all good things we hoped for. We could wander from bow to stern with three points of contact. Kaikiwi is well-maintained and clean so be respectful of this beautiful sailing vessel. My happy part was seeing one of my favorite places, the Doris Duke Estate Shangri-La from the water. Husband's happy time was taking the helm for a while. Both of us enjoyed not hearing traffic, not hearing sirens and loud motorcycles, and just chatting with Cpt Gaelyn as the waves lapped the sides of Kaikiwi. Cpt. Gaelyn is a true adventurer, wonderful company, and we're grateful for our time with her. We'll be back...every day is a good day to go sailing. read more

We sailed with Captain Gaelyn for six days leaving from Honolulu and visiting Molokai, Lanai and Maui on the way. All of us had the most amazing time. We visited some very beautiful, remote bays, amazing beaches, snorkelled with turtles and saw the islands from a different viewpoint. Kaikiwi, our home for the week, offered us everything we needed, despite the limited space on a boat, we all felt comfortable. We had lovely lunches and dinners on deck, all prepared by our Captain and Head Chef Gaelyn. She made us feel extremely welcome, helped us improve our sailing skills and became part of our family. Sailing with Captain Gaelyn on a sunset cruise was the best part of our trip to Hawaii. Captain Gaelyn was able to take us out just past Diamondhead before sailing back where we came to watch an unbelievable sunset. The boat was pristine and very comfortable, whether we were riding in the back by the wheel or up front on the top of the boat being sprayed by the ocean mist. This place is a scam! Run far far away!…read more Set up sailing lessons and certifications with these folks months ago. Came to Hawaii specifically to do these sailing certifications. Spent the last few months studying the books to pass the tests. When the week came for me to go sailing with Honolulu Sailing Company, I kept getting the emails about my upcoming reservation but no details about when to meet the captain at the marina. I tried calling, leaving voicemails, and emailing. No reply. On the day of my first lesson, I went down to the marina, no one around. No one else with boats around their slip knew anything. Tried going over to their office listed on their website and the suite number doesn't exist. Have filed a fraud claim with the credit card company. Time will tell if I get my several thousand dollars back for the lessons. Won't get my time back. Learn from my mistake and avoid this place at all costs.

The sailing was the best experience, they took us out towards diamond head and we had full sails, Ty was a great captain and sailed like a pro. We stopped to snorkel at spot where Johnny was able to guide us over to a area where numerous turtles were hanging out. I'd say about 10 turtles at the floor of the ocean and they came up about every 15 min. Johnny was extremely educated on the sea and told us not only a lot about the sea creatures but about the island and it's history. Great experience!

Within the first 2 hours on the water, the kids counted more than 40 whale sightings, which included mama whales and calves, lots of tail and fin slapping, and a couple of breaches. Snorkeling conditions weren't great, but we had plenty to do: the kids loved jumping off the boat, the raft with a pool in the middle, kayaks, and fishing for Ono. This trip was a reschedule because we were originally booked when the Lahaina fires occurred, but Jerry and everyone on his team were communicative and flexible with arranging new dates. This was a bit of a splurge for us, they only do private charters, but worth every penny because all 12 of us agree that this day of sailing was the highlight of our vacation.

The captain, Carlos, and his crew Ivan, Cameron, and Tommy were amazing and helpful. We saw some turtles, colorful fish, and finished with a sail back to the harbor. Definitely recommend this tour to anyone, especially those who have never snorkeled before.

The crew was professional & down to earth, which makes a huge difference in hospitality. They have coffee cruises in the morning and sunset cruises in the evening. Coffee is my thing so I went in the am. This boat is not big, so there were few people around which made the experience more intimate. Great job guys!

I was assured in the cancellation notice that I would receive a full refund, but those promises have not been kept. Despite multiple efforts, I still have not received my money back (~$650). It has been 49 days and counting. What is most frustrating isn't even the cancellation--things happen. It's the complete lack of accountability afterward. Multiple attempts to contact the business have been made. Emails have not been responded to and three voicemails have been left with no follow-up. I've even attempted contacted via their Instagram direct messages; no response has been given. Meanwhile they go about posting their luxury experience 'reels'. Failing to issue a refund is unacceptable and has left me questioning whether this business stands behind its commitments at all. Customers should not have to chase a business for money they are rightfully owed. Until this issue is resolved, I cannot recommend this business to anyone. Based on my experience, be prepared for poor communication, broken promises, and the possibility of having to fight to get your refund.
