Wonderful Experience 5/5 experience- did 10 dives with Ed. Ed certified our son years ago doing the ocean dives for junior open water (did the coursework and pool work in California), then later this trip July-August 2026 got certification for advanced open water and enriched air diver. Ed was very attentive and also we like going with Oahu Travel divers as they have a smaller boat and it is not like cow-herd diving which some other operators are. Also he dives with nitrox and that is included. Dives go out of Kewalo basin. We dove Sea Tiger a few times, end pipe, Blocks, Yo-257, Pinnacles and Tug Boat. The highlight was that we saw a whaleshark which was magical/ and haven't seen one before. Ed kept a close eye on my son and was safe, was a good instructor, my son (age 15 enjoyed his instruction and dives). Recommend him / Oahu Travel Divers if you are looking to do diving on South Shore (Kewalo basin) also he said he will be having access to Hawaii Kai boat as well if that interests anyone. Since we stay at Ko Olina, that is farther out so we opted for Kewalo Basin. Also we were allowed to dive our profile, for me was a 58 minute dive for one/ all the other divers were up on the boat I believe in our group except for Ed and I. He checks all the tanks before bringing to the boat to ensure we have full fills and also we checked the nitrox content. We brought our own gear so just needed tanks and weights. On the boat we never felt rushed to put on our gear and also we were not rushed out of the water, we ended the dives when we were appropriately low on air (?700 psi)/ doing 3 minute safety stop. read more

Had a great time diving with Ed and Oahu Travel Divers. This is very much a small group, small boat experience. Ed is very friendly and relaxed and equally as accommodating of very experienced divers and those who hadn't been diving in years and needed some refreshing. I really like that Ed equips all divers with a high quality dive computer and uses EAN32 (Nitrox) on all his dives, giving a quick Nitrox briefing for those who are not Nitrox certified. Ed is an independent scuba instructor and guide, that charters dive boats for his students and customers. When I first moved to Oahu, I was in the habit of diving 3-6 days a week. So, I joined all the dive shop clubs and started on a journey of exploration to find my "tribe" of like-minded divers. It's been a few months now, and I can say that before I met Ed, I was extremely disappointed with the popular dive shops. More often than not, I was only getting 20 minutes or less in the water each dive (everyone comes up when the first person runs out of air). Additionally, I witnessed borderline "unsafe" practices and often found myself taking newer divers under my wing as their instructors neglected them. Needless to say, I was quite disheartened with the Oahu dive scene. Then I met Ed. He is a sweet older gentleman, with a plethora of knowledge and a very kind soul. Ed normally has 6 or fewer people on his trips. Many of which are like me, very experienced, and desire longer dives (with Ed I often have 60-80 minute dives). I've witnessed him instructing others, and he is very attentive, thorough, and patient. I love that Ed truly seems to want to help people become better divers. I was in Oahu for a family vacation. I had called a number of dive shops before finding this gem. not only was the price amazing but the dive master let me use nitro which is 1000x better then anything else and all of the equipment was top of the line vs. the 1000th time usage gear that you get from every other dive shop. Went on two Nitrox dives with Ed this am. He's great. Easy to communicate with and all the equipment/boat is in good condition. The dives were wonderful. First dive was a wreck and the second a reef. I moved to Oahu for a few months at the beginning of 2021. I had just recently gotten my open water + advanced very and was looking forward to diving in Hawaii but still had very little experience and a lot of questions. I wasn't ready to buy my own gear and I was looking for a way to dive frequently, on a budget. After a lot of research, I talked to Ed from Oahu Travel Divers who gave me a wonderful deal that allowed me to dive often, with top notch gear, and knowledgeable divers. Booking every dive was easy and Ed is extremely organized and communicative. I enjoyed that the dive groups were typically smaller, so the dive masters on board were always ready to answer any questions and help with gear if need be. I never had any problems with the dive gear I rented and Ed always let me try different nice gear options to give me a feel of what I would like to buy for myself in the future. During the dives, Ed made sure everyone was safe but also made sure we maximized dive time as much as possible. I wanted the most immersive experience for my first time diving and Ed made sure that happened! He was extremely accommodating as we tried to find a weekend that worked. Once we were out diving he was a great instructor. Very patient and thorough.
