Ed is an independent scuba instructor and guide, that charters dive boats for his students and customers. When I first moved to Oahu, I was in the habit of diving 3-6 days a week. So, I joined all the dive shop clubs and started on a journey of exploration to find my "tribe" of like-minded divers. It's been a few months now, and I can say that before I met Ed, I was extremely disappointed with the popular dive shops. More often than not, I was only getting 20 minutes or less in the water each dive (everyone comes up when the first person runs out of air). Additionally, I witnessed borderline "unsafe" practices and often found myself taking newer divers under my wing as their instructors neglected them. Needless to say, I was quite disheartened with the Oahu dive scene. Then I met Ed. He is a sweet older gentleman, with a plethora of knowledge and a very kind soul. I moved to Oahu for a few months at the beginning of 2021. I had just recently gotten my open water + advanced very and was looking forward to diving in Hawaii but still had very little experience and a lot of questions. After a lot of research, I talked to Ed from Oahu Travel Divers who gave me a wonderful deal that allowed me to dive often, with top notch gear, and knowledgeable divers. Booking every dive was easy and Ed is extremely organized and communicative. I enjoyed that the dive groups were typically smaller, so the dive masters on board were always ready to answer any questions and help with gear if need be. I never had any problems with the dive gear I rented and Ed always let me try different nice gear options to give me a feel of what I would like to buy for myself in the future. During the dives, Ed made sure everyone was safe but also made sure we maximized dive time as much as possible.
