My sons and I went diving with Manny. We're experienced divers that booked a dive on short notice. He remained in touch via cell, and gave great instructions on parking and finding the boat. We did a 2 tank dive outside the Waikiki channel (Sea Tiger and coral reef). Very relaxed guide throughout the dive.

Manny organizing and working the gear.

Kalana booked a Guided Discover Scuba diving session for me with Manny. How I felt: Understood/heard, safe with Manny I appreciate how extremely patient you were Manny, you have no idea! I'm grateful for you. It was definitely all worth it for me after seeing all the colorful fish and octopus! Manny made some magic underwater and I was able to see the most beautiful colorful fish an inch from my face!! Phenomenal experience Manny! Beyond the experience I was expecting! I even loved the octopus sighting! It was a great experience for me especially for it being my first time scuba diving. Manny brought 2-3 extra water swimsuits for me which I appreciated. Flippers and goggles included. Everyone was so helpful trying to help me get into my swimsuit as well as going in and out of the water with the tank. Everyone was quick to respond, I loved that. The thing that stood out the most to me was Manny's energy and responses towards me. Usually I'm a fly/run type of person when it comes to my first experiences and people tell me to take baby steps, but I was more to slow down for this diving session. As Manny was explaining the skills, I let him know that It does take some time for me to understand verbally as I am a visually learner. I told him my brain can't compute a lot at once. Lol He made me feel extremely understood and safe which were very important to me and made my first diving experience amazing. I felt he had a calming demeanor and he didn't try to rush me which actually helped me more than I admit to say. I'm going to be vulnerable and say that I was very transparent with him and used my words to make known that I had only one fear, "that I'd forget to breathe under water." I really do owe it to Manny who responded in a calm and understanding manner throughout my whole experience. I told Kalana, "if my experience was with someone else who was dismissive or otherwise, i probably wouldn't have gotten into the water." And that's why I tipped $40!! It also helped that I had Kalana cheering me on! Lol Manny's got a whole phenomenal hype crew! What I saw underwater with Manny was beyond amazing, 100% recommend him and his hype crew.

I joined the exploratory dive today and it was unbelievable! I've never been scuba diving before and I was slightly afraid and intimidated to do it but I didn't want to miss out an a beautiful opportunity to explore the life under sea in the vibrant blue ocean in Hawaii. I was blown away by this underwater tour, and this will be a memory I'll never forget. Manny and his crew made this experience so smooth, informative and comfortable; you cannot go to any other diving company.. he is unmatched! Thank you so much Manny!!!!!

My GF was freak out when she stepped into the water

I do not recommend for getting your PADI certified here. I would give zero stars if I could. First of all, instructor Manny seems only good at dealing with the "easy" students but loses patience very quickly with the "difficult" students. My girlfriend was freaking out when she stepped into the ocean and Manny pushed her into the water without waiting for her to calm down. At that time, I didn't even see she had her regulator in her mouth. It was too uncomfortable for my GF and she finally gave up that dive. What shocked me is Manny blamed her failure on not listening to the class and always looking for excuses rather than they did not establish mutual trust in the ocean environment. After my GF decided to give up the course given the unpleasant experiences, we asked for a reasonable refund for the remaining 2 boat dives which had not started. Manny firmly refused. He was quite rude at our discussion and blamed even more on my GF for her own faults. He yelled in front of my GF that everyone else in the class can do successfully and it was her problems that she couldn't. Horrible! My GF had a mental hurt. She said she would never do diving again. Other things I noticed about the poor practice for their certification course. 1. Confined water training was on the shallow beach rather than a swimming pool. First-time divers, especially people who are afraid of the ocean do not build up enough confidence in the confined water and are then directly taken to the ocean. 2. They push you to do everything fast, like marking checkboxes on PADI open water requirement cheat sheets but lacking practice. For example, the "out-of-air" rescue was just one time training without really consolidating the techniques; underwater navigation was taught very casually; no fish identification module which could help divers identify potential hazards. 4. Their boat goes out 2-3 trips a day as they want to have high throughput of their "certification production line". For 2 tank dive, they leave even less than 10 minutes in between. They try to make another trip to bring another group of students. Google "interval between each dive" to learn why this is bad practice. 5. I even saw them take a student directly to a boat dive without taking them to confined water sessions. This was completely against the PADI training procedure. 6. I went with them one dive trip. Before surfacing, they even skipped a 3 minute safety stop. Unbelievable! 7. I cannot see their respect for the ocean. They touched reefs, and played the octopus. Ironically, this is done by the instructor. Future travelers: if you do see this again, please speak up and report to PADI quality control. https://www.padi.com/consumer-protection

Dan was fantastic from start to finish, making everyone feel comfortable, safe, and welcome. One thing we especially appreciated was the small group size. It created a much more personal experience, allowed for individual attention, and made all of us feel relaxed. Dan did a great job balancing safety and fun, and he was wonderful with our teenagers. The diving was great (saw eels, turtles, rays, lots of fish) and the entire operation was professional, organized, and easy to work with start to finish.

What we got instead was poor dive management and a complete lack of professionalism. During the dive, I ran out of air, which is a serious and dangerous situation in scuba diving. The response from the guide was dismissive and poorly handled, which only made the situation worse. The most frustrating part of the entire experience was dealing with Gabe, the owner. He had absolutely no patience and was openly unprofessional, not just with us but in the way he interacted with others as well. There was no concern for how unsafe the situation was, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. For an activity where safety, trust, and professionalism are critical, this operation fell short on every level. We paid nearly $700 and walked away feeling stressed, unsafe, and completely disappointed. I would strongly caution newer or less experienced divers before booking here. This is not the kind of environment where you feel supported or safe.

We did the turtle tour on 5/13 at 8:30 in the morning. They teach everyone how to use the given gear, they antifog the goggles beforehand and sanitize all the gear well afterwards. They have snacks, water, and ginger ale. We saw two turtles within a couple arms lengths at the surface (you can't touch them but gosh they were so close!). We also saw about seven turtles chilling on the bottom. Tons of reef fish swimming so close to us too. The crew makes sure to point out turtles so you don't miss them. It was my first time in open water and the crew was welcoming from the start. They separate the groups so if you can't swim or are not great at swimming, you can stay back and hold onto a blue mat in the water where they teach you and help you feel comfortable in open water first. Even though I vomited afterwards (yes I took plenty of motion sickness medication ahead of time!), I highly recommend the experience. It's unlike anything else. The crew is so funny, they normalized not being able to swim well or motion sickness so you don't feel embarrassed. They get in the water with you (not all crews do!) and were super attentive, and encouraging. I felt safe enough that I was able to learn, get confident in the water and join the others and I still felt like I had plenty of great snorkeling time. Overall, GREAT company for actually seeing turtles! GREAT for inexperienced swimmers and people who get motion/sea sickness! If you're determined, you can still do it. The crew made me feel safe the entire time! You've got this, you only live once!

Whereas other shops wanted to charge me for a full on course, Captain Maddie set me up with her dive-master sister, Ashley. I hardly write reviews but their considerate and meticulous service made for an unforgettable experience. Many companies offer discover scuba lessons in Oahu so I called a few to understand the itinerary before making a decision. I spoke with Toby, he welcomed all questions and gave an honest glimpse of what the experience would be. He was also courteous enough to let me know that they might reschedule our reservation in case they don't have enough people to meet a minimum for the boat. This did happen but the company let me know this promptly well in advance and even followed up to remind me about completing e-learnings etc. Fast forward to the day of the scuba and my mother & I met with Toby and the captain on Diamond T II, their boat along ala moana. The captain did a quick lay down of the safety instructions and Toby walked us through the nuts and bolts of diving - key skills, sign language, etc. The crew split us into parties of two each. The sea was a little choppy and I was feeling a little sea sick so I asked the cap if I go jump in the water till the first pair finished their training and dive and he even gave me snorkeling gear!! This was a great way to kill time and also get a preview of the dive ahead. The cap also encouraged my mother to join me and despite her fear of water, she felt at ease in doing so. This half an hour was unexpectedly enjoyable as we were able to interact with some marine life and my mother felt more comfortable being in water. We then got into our gear, which was labeled, super clean and hygienic, and proceeded to do our training session with Toby in the water. This was the highlight of our experience as jumping in a water can be pretty daunting with heavy gear, especially if you run into tricky problems like water in the mask or your regulator. Despite my mother running into these frequently, Toby was incredibly patient and relentlessly made an effort to do her skill training without rushing her. Unfortunately, she was feeling pretty sea sick and also tired by her time in the water so she decided to pause but Toby and I carried on into the water. We spent a serious amount of time close to the ocean bed, Toby was alert yet let me free roam in the water so I gained some confidence too. I was surprised by how clear the water was and we saw plenty of fish, it was magical. On returning, I found out that my mother got sick on the boat so the cap helped her with a pair of goggles, some jelly, and light humor to alleviate her motion sickness. The crew was highly aware of most passengers feeling sick so they expedited our return to the waterfront. I fail to see how this experience could've been more enjoyable and how this crew could've been more considerate to first time divers. Thank you so much for this!!
