We had semi-private diving (only 4 divers) which was great. Dive guide Faith is so nice, asking for our experience, caring during the whole time. We had an amazing experience with this company. The boat and loading dock were easily accessible, which was a relief since we've had trouble with other companies in the past. The dive boat we went on was small, with only two other divers, which made it feel super intimate. We received a lot of help from the instructor, and of course, we couldn't forget the sweet, fresh-cut pineapple. The tiger wreck dive was beautiful and incredibly interesting. Our instructor, Ed, was incredibly helpful, friendly, and entertaining. However a quick note, our dive did end 30 mins early for whatever reason. read more

Great experience. I was with two friends. They were doing a Discover Scuba experience; I was doing my first open water dive in a decade, after taking a refresher course in a pool. We were met at the dock by our instructor. She had everything ready for us. I was using some of my own equipment, but they had everything we would need if we didn't have our own. On our first dive our dive master mainly worked with the new divers, checking in with me on occasion. This allowed me ample opportunity to get familiar we my new gear and practice some rusty skills. On the second dive she led us to a variety of sea life. Check out after the dive was painless. Our instructor even drove to our hotel to return a hat that I had left behind.​ read more

Actual score 4.5 stars. Had a good experience. I used them twice on this trip to Oahu. Boat is a bit small, but for,a dive boat, sorta normal. The dive masters and crew were nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. They do give you 2- aluminum 80s, unlike some other dive operations on the island which is nice. One of the really nice things (I'm not sure if this is normal, or just a coincidence of both of my trips), was they used 3 divemasters, and sorta divided people up by skill level. Really great. Beginners didn't hold up the more experienced divers, and the more experienced divers did t intimidate the beginners. Brought my own gear, so I can't comment on their equipment, but it looked in good shape. Just took off 0.5 star because they need to visit different sites. Both of my trips were to the Sea Tiger, and Secret Reef. Both are good sites, but would have liked options. Thanks for a good trip, see you next year. read more

What a great group of people. My guides for all my dives were either Bailey, Paige, Faith or Ed. They all were fantastic. Glenn and Demetrius were a lot of fun as the skippers. The dive spots were so cool. I really liked the Sea Tiger the best. Lots of shark and turtle to be seen. Deep pipe is an active reef full of sealife. If you are on Oahu. There were 5 divers on this excursion, including myself and my partner. One diver had recently bought new equipment, one had not dived since January, one had never dived before, and the two of us were recently certified. There were three dive guides on board and we felt very safe in their hands. The person who had never dived before had his own guide while the other two guides took turns accompanying the rest of us 4 on a little tour of the pip and reef at Kewalo Basin. They provided wetsuits and I was glad to wear them because it was a bit cold and necessary for me to be comfortable. Jon said he wasn't cold without one. The other lady didn't have one and said she was too cold to do her second dive. We saw eels, fish, turtles, and a Spanish Dancer. It was cool to get so much closer to the reef than on our snorkel tour. We were even graced by a monk seal saying hi 10 feet from our boat in between our dives. One of the guides said they were very rare and was quite surprised that the little guy came up to the boat. If you're into scuba diving, I would recommend this company. read more

We were referred to HDA by another dive shop that was busy, we lucked out big time! My wife and I are PADI advanced certified, but our kids (15 years old) are pretty much first time divers. Jake was amazing, super patient and extremely knowledgeable, as a parent I felt very safe leaving my kiddos with him. One of my kids previously refused to dive, but with Jake's shepherding he went down and thoroughly enjoyed himself! Their first dive was a practice one to help build their skills and confidence. My wife and I were paired with Lauren, whilst we were advanced certified it's been about 5 years since our last dive, so we were super rusty! Lauren could have made us feel inexperienced due to this, but instead she was amazing, like Jake she was also super experienced! At one point, my wife felt ill (emotional!) (a side effect from the antibiotics) and the team took great care of her until she was ready enough to go on our second dive. Our second dive was with the kids which was amazing. We loved sharing that first experience with them. I would thoroughly recommend HDA and I will ensure that next time I'm in Waikiki I book with them in advance - I recommend you do the same! P.S. I have a fear of the ocean and each of the instructors were very encouraging and supportive through the whole process and I'm really loving learning to scuba dive and have more dives scheduled with them. Dive itself was fine. Saw lots of turtles, fishes, eel and coral. Issue was with the dive guide. She didn't pay attention to us at all, but did point things out in the water. She was annoyed when asked for another layer because I was so cold. Her and the boat driver would talk smack about previous participants so I know they'll be complaining about me later. The 2 reef dives we did is only about 5-7 minutes from the dock. Probably will pick a different company next time. We did four dives at different places over two days. We saw turtles, sharks, eels, and octopi. So we had a great time while we got our check out work done. Everyone was helpful and supportive. Worst diving experience with unprofessional instructor. I almost died and this is what happened. Before the diving, I called the store and told them I did not dive for a while although I have the certificate and asked if I can go over the diving skills before the scuba diving. And they said yes. So I made an appointment on their website and paid extra for a private guide. And on the date of diving, I told the private guide( Keller?) I need to review the diving skills and be close to me during diving and treat this diving as an intro diving. But after jumping into the water, the guide just quickly reviewed several hand signals and then we went down... During the diving, I ascended and went to the surface, but the guide is a little away, and he used some time to notice where I was. He just stayed there and looked at me going up. After I came to the surface, he suddenly rushed to me and pushed me hard from my back. Then my regulator was dropped and he is still pushing me down...Bubbles are around me and I cannot see the regulator and I tried to find my alternative...swallowed water...almost drowned... After getting back to the boat, the guide told me there was a boat passing by, so he tried to push me down. But this cannot explain their unprofessional behaviors. Several reasons. 1. If one of the member ascends to the surface, the whole group should reunion on the surface, not at the bottom. (I paid extra for this private guide, so the whole group is only two divers) 2. If there was a boat passing by, an experienced guide should notice in advance. This guide just stayed there and waited me going to the surface...did not do anything to alert me about the boat. No danger hand signal, no knock. 3. There was no signal flag on the surface to notice other boats that there were divers. 4. The most dangerous part is pushing a diver down from back and when the regulator was dropped... I told what happened to my previous dive coach and he said this guide needs to reflect what's wrong and avoid the similar case. This guide needs to review the PADI Rescue Diver course and Divemaster courses. If this guide still doesn't work seriously... update： The reply from the store is nonsense. I did not go for the second dive and stay at boat quietly since I was still shocked and scared. My husband did not enjoy the dive and he also think this store is unprofessional. BTW, we have the video from our GoPro and record everything. Everyone who see this store reply will know how rude you are. Instead of apology, you are blaming a client rudely. They don't care about your life. AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

COVID procedures were in place, and I felt they made it very safe. Everyone had their own bench with plenty of space to maneuver. We wore masks most of the time we were on the boat. I completed the open water portion of my PADI certification with Caleb. It was a fantastic experience. They made it really easy to transfer my course and I felt that he took the time to explain/give advice on ways to improve my diving skills. We had great diving as well. Saw lots of cool creatures. He was amazing at spotting animals and showing me around. We saw turtles, whitetip reef sharks, nudibranchs, an assortment of tropical fish, octopi, eels, and even heard whale songs. For my second day, there was a family of non-certified beginners with us. The crew made sure I knew ahead of time and even offered to take me out on a different day to make sure I had a good experience. I decided to go that day anyway due to already having plans on the other days they offered. Caleb was excellent at explaining scuba to the family of beginners and checking in to make sure they felt comfortable and safe. He was patient with them and also made sure that I had a good time. Great place to go scuba diving! I originally tried booking with other companies but they had scheduling issues or did not allow GoPros, Hawaiian Diving Adventures was the only place that had both easy online reservations and allowed GoPros so it was a no brainer. I booked the beginners course which was about $170/person. We were running late due to traffic and trying to find parking and really appreciated that they waited for us. The whole crew was super friendly and awesome. I had a great scuba diving experience and we got to see some rare species. Overall highly recommend HDA! You'll have an amazing time. read more

All of them are highly skilled, very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. The students in these courses had diverse backgrounds, and the instructors tailored their advice to individual needs.
