I had the absolute best experience diving with Dive Oahu today. My husband and I joined their two tank shallow reef dive charter, and it was easily one of the most welcoming and enjoyable dive trips I have ever been on. I have scuba dived all over the world, and the professionalism, kindness, and fun energy from this crew really stood out. My husband attempted to snorkel, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure he felt comfortable despite his fear of the water and worries about seasickness. A huge thank you to Patrick, who showed incredible patience, kindness, and the perfect bedside manner while helping him. It meant so much to us. I originally chose Dive Oahu because I met their team at a scuba diving convention and immediately fell in love with the generosity and positive vibes they brought to their booth. Every year they treated me like a long time friend. When I finally dove with them in person today, that same family atmosphere was there with every single staff member on the boat and in the shop. After this trip, I can honestly say Dive Oahu feels like family now. A special shoutout to Captain Adam for his incredible hospitality both at conventions and on the boat. He brings the perfect balance of professionalism, humor, and genuine friendliness that makes you feel welcome the moment you step aboard. I also want to recognize Jeff, who was teaching a Discover Scuba Diving course on the boat. Watching him work with his students was impressive. He was professional, attentive, and clearly passionate about helping new divers succeed. His humor and relaxed attitude made it feel like meeting a long lost friend. And of course thank you to Jacob (aka Sir Fabio), our scuba tour guide, who did an amazing job guiding us through the reefs. He found nudibranchs, eels, and some absolutely gigantic sea turtles, and made the dive both exciting and relaxed. From start to finish, the entire experience was fantastic. My husband and daughter went diving this morning. It was her first real dive after getting certified, and at the end of the first dive she was stung by a box jellyfish. This morning, my long-time shipmate and dive buddy Jack restarted our annual holiday dive. Dive Master Jeff (GMC, USN Ret.), and Cap'n Mike (11B, Airborn!, USA Vet.) took us out from Waianae Boat Harbor for a deep dive on the Mahi, and ordered up some Spotted Eagle Rays for a "Swim By". Our shallow dive along the Makaha Caverns included a crab the size of a football, an Octopus that tried to take Chief's wrist home, and a HUMONGOUS turtle! It was a GORGEOUS early winter day off Oahu's West Coast, with a moderate swell, and some Spinner Dolphins nearby. Only thing missing on the boat is a bar! Fantastic attention to safety and comfort. My husband (a divemaster with 55 years experience) and I dove with Dive Oahu on 8/8/25 on the 7am deep wreck & shallow reef dive. He picked this dive center having become acquainted with Brian at the annual Scuba Show in SoCal earlier this year. The dive, the crew (Captain Nacho, Jarred, and Rachel) and the boat did not disappoint. We were a small group of only 7 divers. Two divemasters leading our dive, broken into 2 groups, along with 2 additional divemasters (my husband & another gentleman). Everyone was very experienced and I was excited to remove the memory of some bad dives in the US Virgin Islands, dull, short, shallow, and lacking in reef life. They did all the important and appropriate safety briefings. Checked your gear, and asked if we wanted them to set up our rigs since we bring our own. They did switch out our tanks for the 2nd dive. Chatting with a fellow diver, diving solo, I learned he hadn't been on a dive in 15 years and was a little anxious (and we're going to be diving at 90 ft). Yikes! I take awhile to get down the rope because of my right ear and I always tell the divemaster that so they don't become alarmed. 28 years of diving hasn't made it any easier other than repetitive dives. I reminded him on the surface of the ear and I'll be slow going down, and mentioned the "other guy" hasn't dove in 15 years and is a bit anxious. He had no idea and appreciated it greatly so he watched him like a hawk. Turns out the dive didn't go so well for the "other guy" and he must have aborted the dive quickly. I tell you this because this is where the utmost professionalism comes in shortly. We finished an amazing dive with 5 HUGE turtles laying on the boat, right where the line brings you down, spotted eagle ray, and plenty of fish life. Back on the boat the divemasters had the diver, who couldn't make the dive, sitting there breathing on the regulator with his mask on. They told him to just keep breathing like that because it will be much easier for him on the 2nd dive having reacquainted himself with everything on his head and face. They checked on him throughout the trip to the next dive sight. I've never seen that done before. Very impressive. Everyone had a fantastic 2nd dive, and this diver got to take a lot of video, seeing 4 octopus's, school of huge puffer fish, large eels, and a gigantic conch. That diver couldn't have been happier with how he was treated, and so were all of us witnessing how they handled him. Enjoy your diving with them, you'll be in good hands. read more

Junky gear. Rented a paddleboard at the beach. The paddle was adjustable in length, but it would not lock in place. So I returned and explained the problem. Just tiny pull and the paddle falls apart. One finger should not be able to adjust a locked paddle. Anyway they gave me a different second paddle when requested, but surprise, the new one had the same problem! I suppose all their paddles are broken. read more

Dislike this place very much. Surf instruction was so-so, but many of the young staff members (who are hired perhaps to look pretty) are absolutely disinterested in customers and ought not be in this line of work. The chairs, which are rented out at rapacious rates, are rusty and broken -- the most uncomfortable $40 chairs I've ever paid to sit upon. We haven't tried their diving excursions, but their beach rentals are the pits. read more

We went on Aug 8th, 2024 on The Discover Scuba and my Girlfriend went on the two-tank certifying dive, She had a great dive with Adam. This was my first time doing scuba ever, it was amazing. I went to Turtles on Stress-Relief and my Instructor Colt was so knowledgeable and this guy made me feel super safe. I got so close to the Turtles, that had to be the closest in my life. On the 9th we went on the Fireworks cruise at night and the bottom of the boat was lit up, The Waikiki skyline at night was mesmerizing I also went to the Surf lessons on the 12th and Instructor Michael was great!! We will definitely be back and will be using Dive Oahu again. read more

My wife and I booked a two tank shallow reef dive with Dive Oahu and it was great! Our Captain, Nacho, was as competent as was he a character. He was assisted by Jacob, Jared, and Heather. We saw turtles, and octopus, and lots of fish and coral. The dive equipment was ok and the boat comfortable with snacks, drinks, and a marine head. We did leave the dock an hour late due to the other boat not being back on time. Wasn't an issue for us but if someone would've had plans later in the day, they would've been screwed. Amazing crew. We did the 2 tank reef dive today, and I was very nervous because it had been 7 years since my last dive. On top of that, I broke my hip last year and had hyper-extended both of my knees before this dive. The crew was outstanding. Jared was our dive guide. Signed up for 3 hour snorkeling trip! Horrible weather, took us out on a five boat, only 4 people! Viator charged us a price, they called made us pay $20 more! Great dive operator! Highly professional, fun and safe Captains, Instructors and Divemasters. They're boat is large, clean and well organized and they use excellent gear. My compliments to my Divemaster, Alex. He did a great job. As an instructor, myself, I was very impressed with way he managed our group. We had someone with ear issues, a new diver, and a self professed air hog. He managed 6 of us with all of our issues, kept us together and helped point out cool sites. I'd suggest allowing highly experienced divers buddy-up and dive without mixed Divemaster led groups or even running the occasional trip just for those divers. Please don't get scuba certified here!! I did my scuba certification here back in 2016 only to find out they never submitted my certification to PADI. My coursework and training have all expired now. I paid $400 back then and now I have to pay an additional $1000+ to get certified again now. For 2 weeks they gave me a run around, never answering my phone calls or questions. Everyone on staff was rude, impatient, and refused to help. I have receipts and video footage of the coursework which pains me now to watch. As consolation, they offered me a $50 refund or $400 towards dives but after my experience with them, I would not want to dive with their company and $50 is not enough for what I paid for. This nearly ruined my upcoming vacation as I had planned to dive again. My advice is to not rely on them for scuba certification. I am surely not the only one and there are probably others who are not aware just like me. If you have already dived with them, make sure you get dive logs signed and that your dives are reported to PADI within the week. They are obviously not checking on their instructors or work so make sure you check it yourself. Good luck. read more

Fantastic dive operation! I had a short visit to Honolulu and had booked with another company, but they canceled my reservation on short notice. Oahu it's able to book me on their evening/nighttime dive for the following day. The prices were very reasonable and included all equipment. All their loaner gear is top notch! Their guides were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. It was very clear to me that they put safety first. Absolutely expecting more & this could have been so much better. When I arrived the boat was well set up & Captain Amber introduced herself - she was great. There was little intro to equipment & while there was time for questions, I didn't have any until after the dives. In hindsight, I would like to know... Why did we spend most of our time chasing the guide? If you look at my photos you will notice the guide (Kyle) was not very close to the group most of the time and we were all swimming after him! Unfortunately I can't upload the video or you would see how hard we were kicking just to keep up. Diving is supposed to be effortless and relaxing over a reef. There was no current, no bad surge, and the conditions were actually very nice. Yet, I had no time to look at or in corals, or for small marine life. Once, we stopped for air checks & I spotted a rare endemic nudibranch, so I got the guides attention and pointed it out, he just swam off. It was at this point I recognized I was on my own to enjoy whatever I wanted, but unfortunately this was 10 minutes before the second dive ended, so beware! I would also ask, Why did the guide end our dives with more than half a tank of air, even on a 60ft max reef dive? I had 1700 and could have easily been left to explore the reef on my own. Why was our surface interval so short? Why was there no Nitrox? (I was told it was 'out' but I see other reviews now as if it's just flat out not an option) Good thing there was an instructor in training tailing us, or the day would have just been a real bummer compared to the excellent dive experiences I've had on Maui & Kauai. I would rate this company poor compared to my other experiences. I'm used to guides who show us the reef & when they don't want to take time to show us marine life 'on' that reef, they leave us alone until we run out of air so we can explore the reef on our own. We got nothing but a swim and half a tank of time in the water. Kyle, you're a nice guy and you seemed experienced when you presented the plan to everyone. You have the opportunity to make this so incredibly enjoyable for people, and make them want to book their next trip before they even leave. I was on Oahu for several days after and typically book diving every day until I need to quit to prepare to fly, but instead I decided not to book again because this was so incredibly bad. In all fairness you did show us one leaf scorpionfish... but one fish out of two dives? If this is how it's done on Oahu I won't be back. read more

Dive Oahu - Discovery dive off Waikiki - Snorkeling Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

They were able to fit two of us (certified divers) in on short notice over July 4 weekend when others were full, but experience wasn't great compared to other dive operators I've gone with in other locations. Meeting place is at the slip, where you can drop off gear and park. The "Anger Management" reportedly fits 15 divers, and they have 1 DM per 6 divers. Boat is reasonably well set up with plastic containers for each diver's dry items and a marine head, as well as drinks snd granola bars. Lots of tanks (but not that well secured; they kind of tipped once a weighted BCD was attached). They did a very thorough boat safety briefing as we headed out. Very short ride (10 min?) to first dive site (Sea Tiger wreck). In our group of 5 divers we had two inexperienced divers, so our DM spent a lot of time helping two of them, even needing to share air when one ran out during safety stop. There was only a 30 minute surface interval after the first dive to 95 feet, which felt really inadequate. The second dive (Nautilus) was only at about 35 feet, but there was terrible surge and very poor visibility (15'). Not sure why we didn't go to a different site once the DM who went to check it out pre-dive saw how terrible the conditions were. We basically spent the whole 45' dive swimming around the spots of reef and saw only a few fish getting whipped back and forth like we were. We went out a little after 7 and were back by 10. (I think they had another group going out at 10:30.) They do automatically include gear (even though we brought our own), so are accordingly pricier than other operators. No nitrox offered. I will probably look for another dive operator next time we're diving here. read more

Had a bit of a bad experience with a different dive outfit the day before, my buddy and i tried again with dive Oahu. 5 stars from start to finish for dive oahu. We arrived a bit early, the staff got us checked in and fitted with gear, no issues. The captain and dive masters were efficient and friendly loading us on the boat and conducting the safety briefings. Went on standard 2 dive tour, 1st dive was deep dive on an old ship, had a reef shark chilling on sand off the bow, 2nd was a shallower reef dive that had lots of sea life and turtles. I'm an experienced diver, former dive master and need no supervision, i always observe the various procedures and practices that staff do on a dive trip and the team and dive oahu all get top marks from me, for what it's worth. read more

After having a bad experience with another dive company the previous day, we were hoping Dive Oahu would be much better and they absolutely were. Everyone on the boat crew was nice and helpful. The boat itself was large and had plenty of room to sit or stand. They had a ton of drinks and snacks for us to use should we need it. We did a deep water wreck and shallow reef dive and our scuba lead for the day was Alex, who was incredibly patient and nice. He knew I was anxious since it was my first deep water dive, but he stuck with me and helped me to ultimately get to the wreck and see the most awesome turtles and wildlife I'd ever seen. The other diver James, who was in charge of photography that day, was also very nice and helpful. The entire crew showed that it was possible to have a great experience when diving, even when you're nervous or anxious. They're patient and helpful and want to make sure you have the best experience possible. I highly recommend this company when scuba diving in Oahu. read more

I had such an amazing time diving with this fantastic team! I was recommended to Dive Oahu by my best friend when I came to visit. I couldn't ask for a more professional, knowledgeable, and patient staff. It had been a few years since my last dive and I felt so safe with the safety checks and procedures everyone follows. My first day with them our captain, Matt took us to Cell Block C and Nautilus, around 40 feet. Thorner had an joyful, infectious attitude and Tiffany, our Dive Master was awesome! So much great sea life out there! My second day, Morgan was our Dive Master. She had so much passion and enthusiasm. She made sure we all had a great set of dives and was extremely professional. Our Captain that day was Lindsay, who did excellent work against some extra waves and had some fun convos about what we saw on our dives... moray eels, sharks, an eagle ray, and loads and loads of fish. After diving by with other companies on Oahu, this company was a breath of fresh air. To start off I already felt like a nuisance because I had a 15% off coupon I forgot to redeem when the appointment and payment were first made. They were super accommodating, and got that discount applied to my dive. I also had an issue with my gear, they luckily had the proper tool and made the adjustment to my regulator that I needed. We were in a group of certified divers and we went with Evan. Evan was great, the boat was spaced out and not overly crowded, they seem to really take safety seriously, captain was funny and even offered snacks and drinks which was really nice to have between dives.
