Parking: 5/5 - Personally did not have an issue parking here there were plenty of spots available at around 10:30/11. But there is another lot a further down the road. I prefer the one that i was at however I felt like the other lot going up to Lainkai was more for fisherman and kids. Location: 5/5 I had Lainkai Beach saved on my list so going to this one was a bit unexpected but they deliver the same views and even better that there's a restroom! Restroom was super clean too With that being said it was pretty windy which wasn't a problem but know that its blowin. The sand as well is that fine white sand which is super pretty but it sticks to you so if you're not a sand person...well...you're going to have to accept your textured fate. I wish I could've stayed here longer honestly. I love the fact that there's a foodland nearby to get some lunch and lounge here. We arrived around 11A, and both the parking lot and the beach were already slammed. We got lucky and snagged a parking stall just as someone was pulling out. Finding a spot on the sand took a little longer, but eventually we found a place to nestle. The water was beautiful. The waves were mostly soft rolling breaks with the occasional stronger set that could catch you off guard if you weren't paying attention. Overall, I think it's a great beach for inexperienced swimmers, but I probably wouldn't recommend it for families with toddlers who just want to wade near the shoreline. Those occasional waves have enough push to knock over the littles. One thing I appreciated was how well-maintained the restrooms were compared to some of the other beach parks around the island. They also have a foot rinse station just outside the bathrooms, which made it easy to rinse off the sand from our feet and slippahs before heading back to the car. Such a simple feature, but one I always appreciate. Would I come back? Absolutely. The soft white sand, beautiful warm water, and relaxed vibe make it easy to spend an entire afternoon here. Just come early if you want a fighting chance at parking.

If you are a photographer, Hoomaluhia is a must go. No charge to get in. Beautiful scenic views of the Koolau Mountains and other plants and fauna. If you drive the entire Garden it takes 20 minutes to get to the end on a nice paved road. Plenty of parking at different spots through out the garden and plenty of restroom. Most people park at the visitors center and walk through the gardens. Their are many types of native Hawaiian plants and greenery. Don't expect plenty of roses or flowers that bloom. I like how their are many placards that identify each plant. You can even download a bird guide online to identify the different birds you see. They also host many types of activities and programs for children throughout the month. Including paint workshops and musical events. You can't complain about this place. As mentioned earlier it's free to get in and an awesome place to tour visitors and much more.

On the day we visited, there was a local art show exhibiting some talented local artists' paintings. The weather was perfect, and we spent a little time exploring the beautiful grounds. There seems to be lots of events here, including fishing in the reservoir and meetings in the garden's headquarters. I wish I had had a full day to explore the Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens or lived closer to the park to visit more frequently. But even in the short time I had, I got a sense of things - the serenity and peace that envelopes you as you wander about and explore. I highly recommend a visit when you want some unwinding time. Until now, I can't believed I moved those big rocks and was able to used the same phone doing this l review here on Yelp. Kaiwi shoreline trail is a pretty easy hike to do mostly dirt and no shade along. My bald head got sunburned the next day coz the sun is shining so bright at that time and it was humid as well. But luckily it was a shoreline trail so at the end of it I was able to cool off myself in a small lagoon we found at the very tip of the hike. Having a huge boulders around helped us protected away from those raging enormous waves crashing on. So it was a sweet awesome spot for me and the fact that only me and my wife are the only human swimming on that spot. On the other side of the beach I've seen a group of folks diving and snorkeling so I guess it's the spot to go snorkeling too? I've seen couples and a family doing picnic here under the shade which give me the idea to come back and bring my poke from Foodland and some refreshments to cool us off next time. A tip from Yarman: Do not ever use your phone while in water coz Goddess Nāmaka might take it out of the blue. Next thing you know, your phone will slip down in between those big boulders and will end up grabbing a can grabber back home! LoL. It was an experienced I cannot ever forget. There's a few different pathways going toward the ocean, some people like to swim there but it's usually pretty rocky and dangerous waters here so I wouldn't recommend unless you're a strong swimmer. Popular for fishing too. No bathrooms or showers located here. P.S. it is rocky during the first part of the trail so I recommend wearing shoes so you don't twist an ankle or lose your slippa like I've seen others. Head up the paved hike. 2/3rds of the way up and the 3rd look out is the entrance to the tide-pools. Veer left once you enter and follow the directions markers. Some nice person has spray painted the way look for these to ensure you're going the correct way. There are some loose rocks so be careful. The view of the ocean is beautiful and the tide-pools get closer as you creep down. This is one of those hikes that stay with you and you will never forget. You will be swimming with the fish in the tide-pools as the ocean is splashing as you are safely tucked in the tide pool. This hike is truly magical.

Saw coconut island with hundreds of fish, then walked around sandbar, then saw about 20 turtles maybe more and then lunch stop at secret beach (or was it called island) and then past china mans hat. Very special excursion, away from tourists, and I plan on recommending this to all my mainland guests. Made me wish I had a boat but then again I don't know the first thing about maintenance, rules on boating (is that a verb) etc. will just have to make sure to become a regular patron of this business.

There are free parking lots throughout as well as public restrooms and picnic tables. It has crystal clear water and white sand; best of all, it's not as busy as other beaches in Hawaii. The one thing that annoyed us was the vast amount of birds flying around. You can see their footprints everywhere and there were many close to us. If we had food we would've most likely been bothered by them because there were so many. Fun fact: Kazuo Sakamaki, the first prisoner of war taken by U.S. forces during World War II, was captured on December 8 1941 on Waimanalo Beach.
