My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. That may not sound like saying much but it doesn't change the fact that this place is good. The spring rolls and pho are just like mom used to make. I'm serious as I'm of Vietnamese heritage. It is to that effect that my bias for pho in general probably comes in. It has always in a way made me feel at home and safe. But I digress, they have boba here but I've never tried it. As is the theme in Bakersfield Vietnamese restaurants the water is slow coming. I don't know what it is. Vietnam is a hot and humid country. You think in a land of plenty such as the US they'd be more than happy to spread and revel in the wealth. Or maybe they're stuck in ration mode. I loved everything about this place! Charming with high quality food. We both had versions of a wonton noodle soup. Delicious broth and quality ingredients. We shared spring rolls that tasted handmade with a sweet & sour sauce. Delicious too. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The decor - art on the walls, flowers on every table - was unique and beautiful. When I complimented the art the waitress showed me her favorite pieces and reminisced about how they reminded her of home. We finished with slushy boba drinks (strawberry and honeydew) that my daughter described as "the best boba I've ever tasted." I concur. You can't find better Pho in this town! For under $7 you can get a large bowl of Pho with all the fixings and a beverage. I'm glad I got turned onto this place several years back, it's amazing. They of course have other dishes, but I stick with the Beef Pho. I always like to start with some spring rolls before I enjoy the delicious Pho, they make for a perfect start to my meal because they are cheap and very tasty. We were greeted and seated right away in this very clean establishment. Service was great...food was even better. Both my mom and I enjoyed our seafood soup. I came here because the reviews were positive and this place had four starts, but I didn't like it at all. The beef and shrimp spring rolls were small and had lettuce inside that was old. For the price they're definitely not worth it. Pho Hut so far has the best spring rolls in Bakersfield. The condiment dish also had bean sprouts that were brown. The pho tai bowl was also too small for the price. I only took 4 scoops and It was done. The broth had beef residue, which is something I've never experienced at any other pho restaurant. Oh damn, this place is great! The Pho is amazing, as is the Rice Soup, but my favorite is the Beef Kabob with that slightly sweet sauce they give you to dip the meat in. The lunch special is the best deal by far, with soup, salad, a spring roll, and the entree with rice. The iced Vietnamese coffee is also great, but really it's all about the Beef Kabob. My friend and I finally stopped in for lunch today and WOW! We arrived early, so it wasn't crowded and the service was fast and precise. I ordered the pho with noodles, wontons, shrimp and beef. I added a touch of soy sauce and hot sauce for another level of flavor. It was the best I've had so far. My friend ordered from the lunch specials, chicken, fried rice and vegetables. She was very happy with her meal. We also ordered the spring rolls with shrimp and they were equally as good. I don't have much experience with Vietnamese food so take my review with a grain of salt. I saw this place where driving around Bakersfield and thought I'd stop in and try the food. I ordered the vermicelli combination bowl and it was super good, although next time I won't pour the whole bowl of sweet sauce on it (my bad.) You get a taste of all the main meats with some vermicelli noodles, bean sprouts, and lettuce. My girlfriend had the large beef noodle soup and damn was that a lot of delicious delicious soup, be prepared to take some home! (Or order a small lol). The broth is almost thick but full of flavour and really flavourful. For dessert we ordered the banana stick rice with mango and let me tell you, it was scrumptious. Good food, sweet waitstaff, but small portions. Heavy on the onions. The chow mein had almost no noodles in it, and they were vermicelli noodles, not typical chow mein noodles. The mushrooms in the snow pea and mushroom dish were reconstituted but hadn't been soaked in water long enough so the stems were very hard. The thai tea was way too sweet and the boba was overcooked. The egg rolls were just kinda weird. Overall the food was tasty, the filet minon was delicious and cooked perfectly. The veggies (other than the mushrooms) were fresh and the sauces were tasty. This is a great restaurant! I've dined in before but I generally do carryout here because it's convenient to do so. My usual dish is the Vietnamese Wonton soup, which is excellent. The broth is so tasty, and you can see the floating bits of roasted garlic mmmmmm! The wontons are excellent and they also include some shrimp and pork, plus the bean sprouts, basil, lime, jalapenos and hot sauce all on the side so you can add in exactly how much you want. The Shrimp Pho is excellent too. The dining are is pretty well sized, and there is ample parking outside. This is one of my two favorite spots for Pho here in town. read more

Every time I walk into this place it's the same. Nothing ever changes. The faces are the same, the stuff on the walls is the same, the channel on the TV is the same, I usually get seated at the same table...and I love it. My friend dragged me here years ago and I never thought about it, but I have the same experience every time. The food is good, the prices are great and the people there put up with us and our late-lunch argumentative conversation. Finally! I went to this restaurant and it is open. It seems when I have a craving for pho, Im too late and they are closed for the day. Went here on rainy day and the place pleasantly decorated with Vietnamese decor. Lady at the counter was pleasant. I ordered their small pho with rare steak, and a pork chop meal. Pho broth was fresh and good. I thought the noodle were a little overcooked but it didnt ruin the meal. Pork chop meal was tasty. Both dished were under $10, so it's definitely affordable meal. Talk about a bad experience. Out of three things my boyfriend, my mom and I ordered mine was the worst. I got the vegetable curry and I totally regret it. The veggies tasted like they were in the fridge WAY too long and they felt like it too. All floppy and wilted. No crunch no nothing. The rice and the curry sauce was the only thing I ate and I didn't even finish that. My moms dish was bland and not good. My boyfriend's dish was the only thing that was edible. The appetizers we ordered were ok but it tripped me out that they served it with hoisin sauce and not peanut sauce. All in all I did like it. The people are nice and I'm sure there are things on the menu that aren't horrible but I wouldn't really want to come back and find out. The place looks dated and for the most part gives off a depressed feeling. I would suggest you don't come here and save your money. The only reason I don't walk out and refuse to pay is because I hate being that guy. From now on I'm sticking to the pho hut. read more

This Vietnamese restaurant never seizes to amaze me. The wonderful flavors. We have been coming here since they opened many years ago. They only have takeout right now but the food is just as good as sit down. All the food was perfectly packaged and delicious as usual. I ordered spring rolls (yummy), Vietnamese crepes, curry noodle soup and the number 5 soup that has wontons, sliced pork and shrimp in a very flavorful chicken broth. Everything was spot on. I told the young lady I was taking it all back to Paso Robles where we moved 6 years ago. I crave this place and always come here when in town. The same young ladies work here, family owned and run. She told me how to heat everything up when I get home and both ladies remembered me even tho I haven't been here in a while. She also gave me 4 lovely tangerines to enjoy. I was so happy to know their business survived amid the Covid. Thank you Saigon for always staying the same and pleasing. Will always be my first choice when coming to Bakersfield. read more
