A glass of Thai Iced Tea ($3.75) The iced tea was good...not overly sweet. They know how to make this tea. Was not too creamy so it was light and not thick. Is it possible to get a sweet vinaigrette? The salad dressing is awesome..sweet, but not over powering...it has to be the fish sauce...they must put it in the dressing. Colorful salad, with red and green bell peppers , cucumber, red onions and tomatoes...not just plain lettuce. The 2 thin pork chops...more like pork jerky The chops tasted like it was slightly air dried prior to hitting the grill. This imparted a "stiffer" texture to the pork, that grilling brought out the sweetness of the pork. The meat was not overcooked so it did not taste burnt, but had a hint of smoke. Really good. The spring rolls were a little bland but the peanut sauce fixed them up great. The banh mi was fantastic! Better than most I've had in Vietnam! Thin rice noodles with vegetables, chicken and fish sauce. The sauces are yummy. I stick to their special hot sauce; it's the red one, spicy and sweet at the same time. If you want a more fulfilling dish, get the Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken, but with spring rolls, order # 54 only $1.25 more. The management team is amazing along with the food. Great service, they take care of you from the moment you sit down. They are very quick with taking your order and your food comes out fairly quickly. Walked in for a weekday lunch. There was a good amount of people there. I was seated pretty quickly. I ordered the small Delux Pho. I love that there were 3 sizes and the small was just perfect for me since I get full easily. The broth was delicious. I only found 1 half of a meatball in my dish though, but there was enough meat in it. They also give you a good amount of noodles. I also ordered the spring roll which came out very crunchy and delicious. I ended up ordering taro boba tea to-go. Since this is one of my obsessions, I HAD to have it. They are actually one of the few that makes it like a shake and that's my favorite kind. A little bit undercooked on the tapioca pearls but it wasn't too bad. A small bowl is $9, large is $10, extra large is $12. This restaurant also has other meal options. Their chicken with rice is soooo good. We visited this place on June 15th for dinner. It was not a pleasant experience to say the least. Though the taste of the food was fine, the attitude of the manager was rude and terrible. This was the older gentleman with grey hair at the counter. He seated us at a table underneath which the floor had not been cleaned and there was trash/used napkin. I pointed it out to him in hoping he would have someone come to clean the floor, but he became indignant and told me that if I am so picky, I should just stay home. At first I thought he was joking, but he looked at me sternly and repeated what he just said to my face. Then he complained to another diner who sit at the next table about me being "picky." I cannot believe it. Since when a customer requesting the floor to be cleaned under the table is "picky"? Should the customer just sit in a trash dump to eat the food and be happy about it? Maybe the Public Health Department of East Hanover should audit this restaurant to make sure everything is in compliance with the codes. Ate at Saigon Pho again tonight. My 5-year-old demanded it because their spring rolls are her favorite food in the world. There are 5 or 6 things I love (pho, crispy noodles, short ribs, beef cubes, grilled chicken, spicy shrimp....) and tonight it was the beef cubes. The people who run it are awesome, the service is great, the food is great, and the prices are reasonable. It's also convenient (in the same strip mall as Best Buy - two other locations as well). The only saving grace at this establishment is the pho. The broth is light but very flavorful and just as tasty as I've had at other Vietnamese restaurants. They were skimpy with the noodles though and I really like my carbs when I'm hungry so it wasn't quite as satisfying. Nothing is better than devouring big heaps of noodles in a hot bath of broth so this still fell a bit short. The banh mi was ok but missing the pickled daikon. There were carrots but they were barely pickled at all. Overall, the banh mi was a a bit disappointing to my palate because it misses the sour pickled punch that I'm always used to. Lastly, we ordered the pork chop with shredded pork and pork pie. Unfortunately, we only ended up with an all pork plate. Not sure what happened but they might've ran out of the other two items. I had the grilled chicken pho which only came in Large size (10). My friend had regular pho in medium ($9). For a dollar difference, the portions differed hugely. I would definitely recommend anyone to pay a dollar more and get a large size. The Thai tea was classic and delicious. Overall, the pho and fried spring rolls were pretty good, which made me a bit perplexed about the low raring on Yelp. I would come back again when I have my craving for hot Vietnamese soups. 3 1/2 stars is exactly on point for Saigon Pho. Among all the phos I've had, this was a bit above average, but definitely not the best. The broth was a little light on flavor despite being prepared over 8 hours, and ended up being subsumed by the hot sauce I added. I got the Deluxe or the Special - whichever had the widest assortment of meats inside - and the meats were good but not amazing. There was definitely some of everything, from tendon and tripe to rare beef (cooked through very quickly by the soup) and meatballs. Unlike most phos I've had, this one somehow decrisped the bean sprouts so they blended into the soup better, so that was nice. The side bay leaf was very useful as well, re: flavor. Noting the other dishes: The quail appetizer was far better than other quail I've had, as far as taste (delicious sauce), although the meat was overcooked (the delicate wing was obliterated). The sweet potato/shrimp cake was tasty, but would be well served by having half the amount of sweet potato tempura underneath. There was just so much of it relative to the shrimp that it never came together as a dish. It was shrimp sitting on top of sweet potato fries. It did come with a nice sauce as well - the sauces are very well done here. The chicken with vegetables was a good portion, but the chicken tasted like it was precooked, stored, then reheated - it was dry and rubbery. That was by far the worst dish of the night, and everything other than the chicken was just fine. Finally, dessert. They aren't much on dessert, and I was missing the more traditional Vietnamese desserts that I've had elsewhere. The coffee flan was fine, but not really authentic. The sticky rice/banana was decent, but I've had better sticky rice before. It, too, was prepared long ago and then thawed to room temperature to serve. I'm waffling between 3 and 4 stars. Unfortunately, there's a really great Vietnamese place at 46 and New Road, so if I'm already traveling east, I would much rather eat there. That, and the inconsistent dishes (some fresh, some not) lead me to start off with a 3, albeit a strong 3. Since this is the one closest to my parents, I may end up eating here again, and this could easily jump up to a 4 as I try more dishes. read more

So my family has been coming here whenever we wanted a family gathering or is craving pho. There's parking lot in the front and a lot of seating inside (had a party up to 12 the last time i came here). They are very accomodating and the staff is super sweet (although when it gets busy, it can take a bit for them to get to you which was annoying but expected-especially if they don't have that many people working). Anyways, as soon as they sit you down, they give you water (if you don't like orange in your water, tell them as you sit down!! because i prefer lemon, not orange). The menu choices are plentiful and very decent pricing. A large pho is $10 and they give you so much you can probably share between two people if you have small stomachs and the meat dishes are cheaper than many places and good. I got the pork chop rice dish for only $9 and it's definitely filling. I definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area who's craving pho!! read more

I think this restaurant may have changed hands as the current management is far nicer than the previous owner. The food is about the same quality as before and the menu has been decreased in size and variety and thus, only a 4 star rating. Most of the standard Viet dishes are offered and you'll see Cha Gio (Spring rolls), Goi Cuon (summer rolls), several varieties of Pho, a varied offering of Bun (rice vermicelli dishes with chicken, pork, shrimp, beef, etc.) and rice dishes that will remind you more of Chinese than specifically Vietnamese dishes. You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes here and as others have mentioned, in the new pandemic world with its fascist over-reach and controls, tables are spaced miles apart and separated by dividers. This restaurant also has a very heavy and healthy take-out business and I was glad to see that as it leads me to believe they will succeed and be around for a long time to come. I generally visit this restaurant only when I am in the E. Hanover area and I live in Randolph and when I need a fix of Vietnamese food, I tend to look closer to home.
