I like QQ Asian. There's easy parking since it's located in Livingston Town Center. I've both dined in and ordered takeout from here, and I haven't had any issues. The food has always been good. For takeout, they really pack your order well so there are no spills or damage. My husband's repeat orders from QQ Asian are the eggplant in garlic sauce, vegetable fried rice, and green beans. For an AAPI potluck at work, I brought in food from QQ Asian. I received a few compliments on their lo mein. I brought in a vegetable lo mein and a shrimp lo mein.

Braised Lions Head

QQ Asian recently came out with a Chinese menu that covers a variety of Chinese cuisines from Szechuan as to Northern. Braised pork, Braised Lions Head, Fried Pork chops, and Northern Chinese Potato Noodles were authentic! The Lions Head meatball portion size was probably more generous than any other I've ordered. The crust on the pork chop breading was perfect -- pork not too salty with just enough of the sweet-glaze sauce. The food took a little longer ~20 minutes to come out even though only 5-6 tables were seated. For the options nearby though, it's definitely still worth checking out the new dishes.

Chinese menu part 2

Wandered into this place and discovered that they have a secret Chinese menu with authentic dishes! Actually it's not really secret, they recently hired a new chef that does Szechuan and Northeastern Chinese cuisine, and haven't had a chance to officially update their menu. Szechuan is pretty prevalent in NJ these days, but NE Chinese cuisine is still a rarity, so we ordered from their NE Chinese menu. The food was pretty good. I would definitely go back and try their Szechuan dishes as well.

Sesame chicken

Decided to try the new place in town out. Rather annoyed that we gave the place a chance, get home, open the bag and have like no sauces and they didn't give us any rice with our dishes. It's so frustrating that then you have to then leave your hot meal to go back to the restaurant to get rice because you can't just fill up on a chicken meal with no rice. Not only that but if you're going to charge $15 for a meal around 35 total for two dinner dishes and spring rolls then you need to get the order right. Such a shame because now I know my husband won't ever want to again from here. Food wise, sesame chicken was average, sweet snd sour chicken wasn't overly fried and sauce was more water downed.

General Tso' chicken, this was really delicious
Lokai K.

This was my first time eating here. I had the lunch special General Tso' chicken. The portion was very good for a lunch special. Plus The ere was a soup on the side. I was really happy about that I really like that a lot most places give you less for the same price. The General Tso' chicken was really good nicely flavored and the chicken was tender. They didn't over cook it like other places do. I would definitely order this again. The only thing that was off was the soup. I got the wonton soup and it tasted like they just cleaned the on and left some of the residue of the soup in the pan them made the soup. Wonton soup, the broth was really bland and the wontons meat was not seasoned at all. It tasted like medicine. I wasn't a fan of that at all. I would not order the soup again.

Expensive for the portion size! And the chicken teriyaki was fairly tasteless. There are better Asian restaurants in Livingston.

The food and atmosphere was good. BYOB is a good option. Would recommend. Have been there twice, and so far so good.

From the wait staff to the bus staff, everyone was running around like crazy. The table next to us, I heard them ask for the manager because they messed up an order with an allergy associated with it. Not good. First things first.. we got out miso soup and my bowl had rice stuck to it on the outside. I thought it was weird but I brushed it off because it was just on the outside. House salad was fine. But one of the women bussing tables tried to bring us a second salad because they were clearly overworked and overly busy. I am currently disgusted because I got to the end of my drink and there was the same old rice at the bottom of my cup as there was on the outside of the miso soup bowl. The sushi was fine. I think it's becoming more noticeable that they drench their rolls in sauce to possibly hide the quality of the fish. I'm not saying it was fishy at all, but wow the sauce is so overwhelming. I got the Elizabeth roll and I had one piece - it had too much sauce so I took some off the top and thought it would fix it. Nope. The entire inside of the roll was so unpleasantly soft and tasted like sauce and mayo.. I am still nauseated thinking about that bite. I didn't taste any piece of fish. I am so so disappointed. The seafood pancake had very long strands of squid which were hard to chew through. Another time that I ordered the seafood pancake. Everything was chopped up in small bites and it was a much more pleasant experience. Lastly.. they bussed our table and left our half eaten food on the floor next to us because I guess they were so busy they forgot about it. It was very chaotic in there last night. They brought us the wrong mochi ad well. It seemed like they were focused on getting people tables instead of pushing out quality food. Very disappointing.

Last week, we went to Dozo for dinner during work week (it was also partly a celebration/treat-yo-self meal together). Our one favorite local sushi spots never quite returned to dine-in service after the pandemic, so we've been looking for a replacement. Dozo is a strong contender. Sushi was great. My vegetarian husband ordered AAC Roll, Sweet Potato Roll, Peanut Avocado Roll, and one of the specialty rolls - an Evergreen Roll. He was happy. I, because it's a new spot, went with a standard to try it out, so I ordered a Sushi Deluxe. Very good. Before our entrees, we got Age Tofu and Vegetarian Gyoza for appetizers. Pretty good. We didn't order this, but we saw that they have desserts as well as Ramune, which was cool to see on the menu. Kids love those Japanese sodas. (Who am I kidding? I love them and I'm a grown adult!) Dozo has friendly service, too. In short, we're fans, for sure. Recommended without hesitation!

Next visit I definitely want to be at the bar. The restaurant is small and intimate. Definitely lots of "regulars" with relationship with the owner/chef. He was very friendly to us from afar. I would love to be a regular, it's just too pricey for my weekly budget but definitely worth every penny. If you eat sushi in NJ you've got to try it.
