This is a sleeper find of a great restaurant for takeout, great service, great food, or eat in. I was at the Florida Spine Institute (FSI) and walked 6 minutes to this takeout lunch while my husband got his treatment at FSI. Decent prices and fine food. Alright it's been a while since I've been to this place. I considering that is is super chilly this past week.... Eh who am I kidding if FREAKING COLD!! I wanted to get hot Vietnamese soup since this past weekend but never got to it. So today I surfed the Yelp and saw this soup " Spicy Lemon grass soup". OMG!!!! I think I found my new favorite Vietnamese soup. On the side it comes with rice noodles and cilantro, sliced onions, bean sprouts, jalapeño and lime. The broth it came with is deep reddish in color (almost maroon) that looks very spicy but it is not very spicy. There's a kick to it. It seems like they put just enough spice kick to it (my wifey thinks it is spicy, she can't take the heat). I like to have more spice in my soup so I added the spicy sauce it came with. There is a good amount of all beef meat slices and cubes in the soup. I would recommend this for those who likes Pho . Ps I was so eager to eat the soup that I forgot to take photo before I put it all together. I did get the completed product. :-) read more

We live the spring rolls to start, and we save the extra peanut sauce for our meals...it's that good! I like the pork chops, the beef Bahn Mi with extra veggies and no noodles (when I'm staying away from carbs) and the Spicy Lemongrass soup is SO good too!! This was our 2nd time here - both lunches, first time was great also (did not bother with a review) but this time we got the pork egg rolls and that put it over the top, probably one of the best asian food items we've had. We both had different noodle bowls this time and added the egg rolls. Not a lot of people in the restaurant at lunchtime but there were at least 10 "to-go" orders in bags near the front door, and a couple folks waiting inside for their to-go orders. My son & I chose Saigon Bowl based on Yelp reviews. I ordered the Spicy Lemongrass Soup. The server was very pleasant & our food came out fast. The bowl & serving seemed extra huge. And the accompanying plate of mint leaves, parsley leaves, basil leaves, sprouts, & lime was extra large as well. All combined each meal could easily serve 2. The broth was amazingly tasty & rich. There was ginger, lemongrass, beef, & I'm sure many other seasonings in the soup. The beef was good, but a few pieces had not been trimmed of chunks of fat. Still though it was a delicious meal. I enjoy food that immerses you into someone else's culture. This did just that. read more

Wow, probably the best Vietnamese food I had in the states. The spicy lemongrass soup is quite flavorful, especially if you eat the rice noodle with soup. What they provided on the side with the soup is also a bit different from your usual Vietnamese restaurant. Most restaurant I went to only provide mint/pepper/bean sprout/lemon. They also do thinly sliced cabbage and cilantro which adds some additional flavor. The beef skewer was really really really tender and flavorful, has a bit of char which works well with lemongrass and ginger flavors. Fresh roll is well wrapped. Many fresh rolls I had in other restaurants would quickly fall apart after bite, and becomes very difficult to dip in the peanut sauce. The roll we had here doesn't fall apart at all and maintains the shape. The only complaint I have is the lychee water. We thought it's gonna be like lychee juice from what the waitress told me. But turns out it's just lychee flavor canned drink pour in a glass with ice. Well I guess we shouldn't expect 4 dollar drink to be actual lychee juice lol. Overall, absolutely recommend the restaurant. Food is phenomenal for the price. We plan to visit again before we leave town. read more

If I can give a negative star I would. Everything about our experience here was horrible. The service and especially the food was disgusting and it's definitely not authentic at all. We were a party of six so We ordered a couple of apps and we ordered 3 pho. 1 stir fried noodles. 1 pork chop rice dish and 1 vermicelli bowl. Each dish came out 15-20 mins apart so my husband was almost done w. His pho when another dish came out which is ridiculous. My daughter stir fried noodles was the last to come out and by then almost everyone was done eating and she did not like her dish, she literally took 2 bites. My cousin asked for only cucumbers and carrots for her vermicelli bowl (it came out with all the vegs she didn't want). Don't even let me started with the pho. It was like drinking water, it was bland and had no taste to it. Even when we tried to dress it up, it didn't do anything to the broth, it was horrible. 4.5 star rating? What? How? Why? Perhaps the Viet food scene in Tampa area is that bad that this place earns 4.5 stars, but the people of Tampa deserve way better pho. The pho broth here was nowhere near authentic and the meat it came with was poor quality. It was really bad. A new Vietnamese restaurant has opened. It's located just west of the intersection of Drew and Belcher in Clearwater. It's in a strip center on the south side of Drew. Over the years, there've been several different restaurants located here, however this ones the best! For starters, we ordered the Beef Skewers and the Green Papaya Salad while we looked over the rest of the menu. The skewers had a delicious glaze and were fork tender. The Papaya Salad was wonderful! I would definitely order both of those dishes again. For entrées, we ordered the Spicy Lemongrass Soup and the Grilled Shrimp Noodle Salad Bowl. I added on some grilled pork to the salad just because I was starving. The soup was awesome! It was spicy but it was very flavorful and was chocked full of tender beef. The Shrimp Noodle Salad was the best I have ever had. The shrimp were large and had a great spice and grilled flavor. They were perfectly cooked. The grilled pork was very tender and delicious. The service was friendly and speedy. The food was reasonably priced for what we ordered. I would order the exact same items again. The interior and restrooms were clean and tidy. Don't be deterred by the fact that they have just opened up because they do know how to cook some GREAT Vietnamese food! We stopped by on a Sunday for lunch. We came here for the first time right when restaurants started opening up again during the pandemic. We have since been back several times. The owner, Gracie, is always very friendly. I get the house special pho and it is absolutely delicious. Tastes very authentic to me. My wife has had the short ribs several times and loves that dish. The sweet and tangy sauce leaves you wanting more. Saigon has definitely become our go-to for pho and Vietnamese food. So glad they're close to our house! Pretty decent place! Menu options were typical of a Vietnamese restaurant. I came in mid-day on a weekday and it was quite empty. It's a very big space with a lot of booths which I liked. The service was very good! The waiter was very attentive and drinks and food came out very quickly, I hardly had to wait. The food itself was okay. I would've liked my soup a little spicier. I ordered bún bò hu because I was craving it but the broth ended up tasting slightly like bò kho. Not a bad taste but not what I expected. Regardless, it still hit the spot! I was a bachelor on this night, my bride visiting relatives up in Massachusetts, gave me the opportunity to try a new restaurant. I started off with two eggrolls, which came piping hot with its own dipping sauce. Very flavorful, and a great way to start off my meal. Next came the bang bang shrimp. Tempura fried shrimp with a mild and sweet sauce. Excellent!!! I'd like to get a bottle of this sauce to chug, it was so good. Spicy lemongrass soup, with beef flank and shank. In fact in a group of 6 none of us could finish our dinners. The staff was friendly and the cost with appetizers, drinks and meal came out to $18 a person. Not to bad for a night out. I enjoyed the fried egg roles but the fresh egg roles were different and good but I just preferred the traditional fried egg roles. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean.
