I'm glad I opened it up before digging in. It hadslices of nasty pork in it. Uggggghhh. Maybe I should have been more specific but on the menu it was option and it listed the combo with pork. I've ordered takeout from this place at least a half a dozen or more times over the past 2.5 years and tbh it's been hit or miss. I always get the same thing, pho tai (thinly sliced rare steak that cooks when you add the hot broth) and sometimes when I'm not being good about calories a Boba tea. The pho itself is usually pretty good, the broth is not too salty or oily like some places, and the meat always seems fresh. At $11.50, it's decently and competitively priced for a medium bowl and they're generous with the basil/sprout/jalapeño add-ons. It's only a dollar more for a large pho if you can eat all that (it's a lot). The large version is really just a handful of extra noodles from what I can tell. Everything else looks the same size, etc. because I've tried both versions. A few things I don't like, hence the 3 stars, buried at the bottom: - That they only serve beef versions of pho. No chicken option. Not a huge complaint but personally try to limit beef & normally go for chicken. - The basil/sprout/jalapeño add-ons, though generous, maybe it's because it's the day I order which is usually end of the week, idk, but at least 50% of the time the basil & sprouts taste really sour/almost expired. - I've tried the Thai tea which is decent, but every single time that I've ordered one of the boba teas, there has never been any Boba in them, ever, and they taste kind of strange or chemically, unlike Boba milk I've ever had before so I'm not sure if it's a powder mix or different tea blend but if it was my place I'd definitely lower the price of the Boba teas by at least a dollar and state underneath on the menu something like, Boba drinks do not contain Boba because the menus as they are right now are wrong and misleading. I haven't tried anything else on the menu so I can only talk about those things. Recently gave this place a go again and to my surprise it went well. Ownership change was definite and they made changes to their menu. I enjoyed their Bun Reiu and rice plates . My son always gets their combination rice plate with pork chops , egg over rice and egg rolls. This time they seasoned and grilled it just right . Did not lack in portion or taste at all. This Viet girl knows Viet food and this place is hands down my go to spot. Viet Coffee: Yummy Boba: Great variety of Banh Mi: Authentic and tasty Beef Pho: Authentic Viet Papaya Shrimp Salad: Crispy and savory Viet Crepe - Banh Xeo: Variety of other authentic Viet dishes and soups like BBH and Bun Rieu: It's really hard to find a Viet spot that offers up more than just your standard beef Pho and rice plates, and though it can't compete with my San Jose favorites, it's tops in this area. First time here and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. It's hard to find a good curry soup around town (my fav spot is in SF on Ocean Ave IYKYK) but I've found an amazing chicken curry here at Saigon Bistro. I order mine with egg noodles and they don't skimp out on the fixings. So much egg noodle, 3 pieces of chicken, potatoes, bell peppers, and the most silky curry broth. It's not overly creamy or watered down, it's the perfect curry broth. Also had their pork banh mi, pork was perfectly seasoned, tender and right amount of fixings. It's served warm but bread still has a fresh crunch. Staff is attentive as soon as you walk in. Found my new spot for curry soup, and will continue to return to try more off their menu. read more

After living in Concord for 20 years, we finally discovered Saigon Bistro. We see it when we're in the area but we didn't think to try it. Our only go-to Vietnamese restaurant was Pho Lee Hoa Phat in Pleasant Hill which has very good Pho and rice dishes but we were craving for Banh Mi since we no longer drive daily to the San Jose area where we could get good Banh Mi. When we finally decided to try Saigon Bistro, we were happy to see Banh Mi in the menu. The Banh Mi, Pho and rice dishes are very good. Staff is very friendly and attentive and prices are very reasonable. We now have two go-to Vietnamese restaurants!! read more

A great place for excellent Pho or Banh Mi. I actually like Saigon Bistro a lot better then the other pho place at the same strip mall. Tastier. Soup is hotter. Has excellent Banh Mi. To go Vietnamese coffee is better and larger cup. Service is efficient and friendly. Ordering ahead on Yelp is always fast and a seamless experience. Oh, Time Flies. It has been a year since I leave a review geez. Let's Begin w/ a decent review c: Let's talk about the food because darn this place served the best Vietnamese soups, not completely authentic however they nailed it every single time. Forget about the dine in part, even for take out the BBH soups that I ordered through DoorDash yesterday was so good, the food quality and quantity was perfect. The Banh Mi this time were better than previous time I ordered because it wasn't dry, it has the crust crunch and enough toppings and pate/butter. I highly recommended viewers to try their Papaya Salad with Shrimp and Pork, the salad itself weren't soggy and has a perfect flavor to it. Even overnight, it still great. Review is for the Boba drinks. We ordered the Dirty Boba Brown Sugar and Avocado Smoothie The Dirty Boba sign outside is the reason we were interested and checked the place out. The drink is essentially Brown Sugar, but the creme brûlée top made it interesting. If it was only due to the Dirty Boba, I would give it 5 stars. However, 1 star off for the Avocado Smoothie - it had a very distinct weird flavor to it that I ended up not finishing it. Could have been just a 1 off mediocrity. Another star off for the confusing signs. The sign has it as Grand Opening for Oda Sushi. However, there's pictures of (Vietnamese) Banh Mi sandwiches. Based on reviews, it used to be called Saigon. Definitely an identity crisis that need to be marketed a little better. Also, its just ceiling fans inside - not ideal for hot hazy smoky summers we've been having in Concord. Will check out in door dining in the Fall or Winter when it's cooler and perfect for pho. read more

This time I got a Bahn-mi pork sandwich and yall, it is just as bomb as the rest of the food I've tried. I will say with this location, they are EXTREMELY SMART as hell for putting the veggies at the bottom of the sandwich because you literally are taking a bite with EVERYTHING inside it and then they add the pickle shredded vegies on top. I think placing the veggies at the bottom of the sandwich is such a GREAT IDEA so that they don't get everywhere and fall. I have a lot to explore with this place - YAAAAY! read more

Casual spot for dine-in but I did takeout recently. They seem to do a good dinner takeout business. First off, the Banh mi price is unbeatable in this economy. Less than $8. Portion sizes on the vermicelli bowl and papayas salad were also a pleasant surprise. Usually papaya salads are small and vermicelli bowls are more noodles than meat. This review is strictly for the boba. Right across from Fry's, what was formerly known as Saigon Bistro, Oda Sushi is now the "new" spot that offers both Japanese cuisine, but still has the Vietnamese cuisine offered here, as the old menu is still present, but they also have a new full menu for the Japanese cuisine side as well. Both menu have a lot of offerings on it, and price wise they're not too pricey compared to other eateries in the area. I will be back to try out the sushi here in the future, and possibly other dishes from the Japanese cuisine menu. However, today's review is not for the food, but for the drink. I would assume they still offer some of the Vietnamese style drinks still, but I was mainly interested in the boba menu. There's around 8-9 boba drinks that are immediately displayed across the TV screen above the front entrance stand. But the one that isn't displayed on there is the one I got today, which does have posters that can be seen from the outside advertising it, the Dirty Boba. The Dirty Boba is essentially a brown sugar boba. It comes in a fairly sized cup that is tall, though the skinnier type of cup, but is indeed tall to make up for the fact it's skinnier. The top of the drink is interesting, as it sort of has a creme brulee like thing going on for it, where there is a thick layer of cream like mixing that have been slightly torched. If you take a closer look at the cup when you get it, and stare at it just enough, you can see that like a half an inch of the top is just that cream. The cream itself was okay. I didn't really care for it by itself, and when I mixed it in with the drink a bit later, it didn't add anything. So while it looks nice, it doesn't feel like it adds anything to the drink. The drink itself was nice. If you like brown sugar boba drinks, then this is a good option for you in the area, as the other boba places in this immediate Concord/downtown area don't have quite the same quality of offering even if they did offer their own brown sugar. Definitely will give you plenty of milk and brown sugary tastes as you're drinking it down. The boba here is also nice. When I got the cup right when it came out, you can feel the bottom of the cup was quite warm indicating that the boba is fresh. The nice thing about the boba here is that the boba does have plenty of flavor to it. It's much sweeter than the other places where the boba doesn't really have any flavor to it at all. I'm not sure if this specific boba was just for the Dirty Boba, so I will have to check this again when I try another drink next time. The boba here is on the mushier side, but in a good way. It's mushy, but still has that QQ elsasticity to it of sorts, so it's not just breaking apart mushy. It's actually quite nice and one of my favorite parts from the drink today. Price wise, it's a bit on the pricier side, as there are plenty of other boba places that would be able to offer a drink for less, albeit, the quality may not necessarily be the same. Though, I didn't take quite as close of a look at the other boba drinks on the menu for price, so this may be specific to the Dirty Boba as I can see it might be more of a specialty drink to cause that higher cost. If you're a brown sugar boba fan, I would recommend giving Oda Sushi's Dirty Boba a try, and it was a pleasant surprise to be able to get a decent brown sugar boba in this area, as it's really one of the only places that does off it in this downtown/downtownish Concord area. read more

I had given this place 5 starts but I take it back! I have been buying dirty boba from them every couple weeks Or so and haven't had an issue until today! It doesn't matter if it's a one off, it's terrible!!! I called in my order, a pork ban mi sandwich and a dirty boba with extra brown sugar. I get there and the guy in there looks at me walks away, grabs some food and puts it on the table and starts walking away again and I told him I think that's mine and told him my name and what I ordered. He rang me up and I noticed my dirty boba was less brown than normal. No biggie, I assumed they forgot to add extra brown sugar. I paid and drive away. Half way back to work I insert my straw and take a sip. The sup has a few boba petals so I chew and comped on something hard and I got it out. It was a plastic piece like from a broken fork. I took everything out of my mouth and there were more plastic shards of plastic. I called the restaurant and the guy asked my name and repeated what I said but clearly he didn't understand. I asked for a manager. He said "no manager today" and hung up on me. I called back and asked why he hung up and he kept saying yes and then remained silent!!! What is this?!?!?! Terrible service. Why is there no manager or anyone that speaks English!?!?! I want the manager to call me and refund my money!!! I stopped by here cuz I had a pho craving today and I'm so happy I've found a good pho spot in the East Bay!!! Their prices are unbeatable- you get super high value for your money. My pho was loaded with meat and piping hot, just the way I love it. They gave me a ton of bean sprouts when I requested- not like Pho Huynh Hiep 6 Kevin's Noodle House who charged me $2 extra for 10 extra bean sprouts. This place beats Kevin's Noodle House by far, not even close. They even put mint in the spring rolls, a must need ingredient so many places in the East Bay leave out. I usually just order their banh mi, bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle) and papaya salad. Their bun bo hue was pretty authentic and served in big portion. They used the right type of noodles, which is the thick one. The banh mi was just ok, not too excellent and a bit more Americanized to my taste. Papaya salad was served with a lot of toppings and you should leave it soak in the sauce for a bit before eating since it'll taste way better. read more

Saigon Bistro is located in the Park N Shop closer to the old Fry's location. We wanted Vietnamese for dinner and ordered via Uber Eats. It has been over 4 years since we last had their food. I just remember the sandwiches being larger filled with more meat than pickled veggies. I do enjoy the pickled daikon and carrots but can you give me a little more meat? I'm assuming ownership has exchanged hands. The Grilled Pork w/Egg Roll Vermicelli tasted the same as I remember. I especially love the egg roll. That dish needs the egg roll for texture and crunch.
