The waiter came by and took orders. We started with the Spicy Shrimp Tower, a Caesar Salad, and a Sage Salad. We then went with Filet Mignon, Wild Salmon, Wife's Favorite Pasta, and Pork Saltimbocca. All the food was well prepared, presented and excellent. We ended with ice cream and cheesecake, which were very tasty. The service was great, the waiter was prompt, friendly, and professional. Lovely dinner. The restaurant has an older charm, dim lighting that gives a cozy romantic feel ,makes you want to get a bottle of red. The servers and waitstaff were all very friendly and polite. Nice dinner spot for date night and for groups! They don't take reservations, but we were able to walk in on a Saturday and get a table immediately. Groups trickled in and out through the evening. Sages came highly recommended on Reddit and yelp. We were in the area and decided to try it. It's a small place with a very homey feel. The food was excellent! Entrees run between $25-$35/per entree the smoked salmon linguini was excellent and had excellent flavor same with the pork saltbocca & the Caesar salad! The only thing we would probably skip next time is the bread for $4 short the bread was fresh & great it's unnecessary bc the entrees are so filling. I have had a problem finding an Italian restaurant that we've liked since moving to the Eastside. I'm not sure how I missed this gem living here so long. I've passed it many times but never paid close attention. I saw a glowing review and decided to check it out. The Ambiance is warm and cozy. Server was attentive and friendly. Food service was fast. Wife's favorite instantly became my wife's favorite. Penne, shitakes, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and basil and grilled chicken breast in Sages Pink sauce. Very good. I had the Smoked Salmon Linguine. We had to call over two of the more experienced waiters because the newer young waiter couldn't remember our order, despite reminding him a few times and kept approaching the table at awkward times, as if unsure when to check in. It felt strange, and honestly, I miss the old crew -- this used to be my go-to place. I'm glad Riccardo is still there; he's always so kind, professional, and truly tries his best. Sages is a quaint and cozy Italian restaurant. Every time my husband and I eat here they make us feel like family. It's a warm and welcoming place for a date night! My favorite item on the menu is the Wife's Favorite. It's creamy, flavorful and addicting! The Smoked Salmon Linguini is also delicious. The only downside was that the menu was mainly comprised of seafood. Most dishes were either salmon or lobster. I've definitely had better Italian cuisine, but I've also definitely had worst. SERVICE: Called in to reserve the night before. Pretty last minute considering the occasion. But we were still able to get one thankfully. With a reservation, we still had to wait almost 10 minutes and were sat at the table closest to the front door. I don't usually care much about seating, but definitely didn't enjoy the cold breezes from the door. Wait staff was very prompt and courteous, kept an eye on when we finished each meal so that the next wouldn't be too far after. PRICE: Now this one is harder to write about considering we came on a special night with a limited 3-course menu, compared to the regular menu on any other day. They don't have kids menu, and one of the waiters literally took the menu from me, when he saw the kid was trying to reach to the menu (I have a young toddler), and said that "I won't let it happen" (he assumed the kid would break the menu). We had 4 adults with a young toddler and they offered two copies of desert menu. He was impatient when I asked him if they have ice cream (for the kid). He didn't know all things they had and said "you didn't see the menu"? Unprofessional. With other details that I experienced at the restaurant. It tells that they have a clear race preference. Everything we ordered was pretty good but here is the reason why I cannot give the full five stars. - too salty in general. Especially the smoked salmon was too salty to eat. - heavy sauce. Compared to traditional Italian dishes this restaurant tends to use a bit of heavy sauce in general. I have been living here for 16 years and I did not know about this place. My family and I were craving for some Italian food and we de used to give this place a try. Everything we ate was delicious!!! I had the Lobster Ravioli and it was sooo good. Very buttery taste and yet smooth. My friend had the paste with sausage and it was super tasty as well. My husband had the filet mignon which was fantastic. We also had the spicy shrimp for appetizer and we all enjoyed it very much. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had nice seats there and the ambiance was good. After we paid and was about to leave I saw the waitress serving too beautiful places and I asked what those were. She told me it was the halibut. Sages to me is an old school Italian place clearly run by owners. The decor wasn't notable but on a Wednesday night the crowd was vibrant and you could tell there were regulars. The menu will have someone for everyone but there are notable absences in my opinion - no pizzas, no lasagna not even traditional spaghetti and meatballs. This is just an FYI in the event you have that picky eater in your group that just wants the classics. I opted for the chicken Gorgonzola which was tasty but with the cream was heavy - wasn't all that Italian to me. I enjoyed it - in fact ate every bit of it but probably wouldn't order it again. She ordered the lobster ravioli and that was a hit - had a hint of sweetness and tanginess - definitely would reorder that - used the leftover bread to soak up the sauce. We split the Greek salad to start and it was more of a tomato and cucumber salad with some olives and onions thrown in but I am not complaining - the tomato's were fresh and the dressing was so flavorful. Ordered a walnut cake to go and had that a few hours later and that was very light and airy - for those like me that require texture with their dessert - this is a hit - would order again. This is a really nice and cute restaurant! We ordered soups and salads first, which were tasty. Then I had the lemon herbed chicken and it was awesome! My hubby had salmon which was yummy. My in laws had pastas and loved them. Place is clean and comfortable. Service was impeccable. The four of us are all very different people, but our server took excellent care of all of us. I didn't have much room for dessert afterwards so I had a bite of my hubby's creme bulee and a sip of aged tawny port. Dining area is small and there is very limited outdoor seating. Menu: descriptive text on legal size paper. Service: staff are very attentive and keep your glasses full. Order at the table, check will be brought to you. Complimentary Bread and Butter: bread is served cold and is flavorless without the butter. The butter is ever so slightly lightly salted. Bruschetta: very crunchy and hard bread--almost like a thick cracker. The bruschetta was very refreshing and had a nice tang. I love the capers in there! Shrimp tower: 6 prawns stacked on one another. Smoke Salmon Linguine: a bit on the salty side for me but the flavor was delicious and the salmon proportion was generous--an even ratio of salmon and pasta so you're guaranteed to have salmon in every bite as opposed to some places that give you pasta with a sprinkle of salmon. The sauce is a cream sauce but it is not thick--it's more of a dressing with a light tang from the capers. Tiramisu: whoa, this is some strong stuff. The bottom sponge layer is absolute drenched in rum. You really taste the alcohol in this one. A bit strong for me but the sponge and the Mascarpone was great. read more
