Sooo, I feel like everything here is really overpriced. They were selling halibut for almost $29 a pound, which is outrageous. It even had a really strong odor that most halibut does not normally have! I ended up spending $238 here and I got very little food. I've gotten more groceries before at other Safeways and have never paid that much before. It was incredibly disappointing. The fruit and vegetables were also over priced, which I found strange, because I was told fruit and vegetables were cheaper in the valley due to the shorter journey they make when taken off the farms. Not sure how they determine prices here but it definitely doesn't motivate me to want to come back. read more

I have been going to this Safeway for at least 20 years. It's always clean and well stocked. The checkers and workers are helpful and professional and always available. The prices are reasonable for groceries and good quality. My only complaint is that they do not have enough of a selection of organic fruits and vegetables. They do have a good amount just not enough for me and sometimes the organic stuff is already bagged and you can't just buy a few. That's my only complaint. Otherwise they are a great grocery store. I've never had any issue with anything. They quickly refunded an item if it's not fresh or not what I had expected. It's local and close so of course I want to support their business. read more

The store advertisements are a total rip off. You get the store card to take advantage of their card savings. However when you use it they still rip you off. Coke was advertised at 4 of the 12 packs for $12. I am a single senior so I don't need 4 packs. I bought one and they charged me $6.99. When I questioned it they said I had to buy 4 to get the sale price. Just another gimmick to rip off people. I also suspect that they have raised a number of prices during the pandemic because they know people don't have a choice and aren't paying attention right now. Being born and raised in Tracy, my family has always come to this Safeway since it's opening. I went in tonight to purchase a few things for my pup- she just got spayed. The cashier Sormeh (I'm prob spelling that incorrectly) was very nice. She even gave me some tips to help me out ( my first pup and first spaying). I asked her how I could thank her and she said it wasn't necessary but I insisted. She said I could let management know, and I said 'sure!'. I waited at customer service and knocked, no one came. Her lane was empty so of course, I looked to her to tell me where to go next since no one was there. Finally a lady came up, but when I mentioned how thankful I was, she made it seem as if I was a fraud and the cashier was just fishing for compliments. Very odd exchange when I was only trying to be thankful to the kind cashier. 5 stars for Sormeh and 1 off for Safeway team's iffy behavior. ++I did call in directly to my local Safeway. I went into Safeway to grab a few things on my lunch. Stopped at the Deli counter to get a sandwich made. What happened to Safeway? When did they get rude and unpleasant? Lady at the counter was helping one person in front of me, she was talking to her co workers more than working. She made a sandwich for the lady in front of me it took forever, first she ran out of pickle, went in the back to get some, then she came out and ran out of Tomato, went in the back to get some. This is lunch hour people, you should have all this ready! Someone came to help her when the line got longer and longer and that person was unpleasant as all hell. Went here yesterday to pump gas....was in the neighborhood. WTF!!!! I started my transaction and the pump cancelled it. Tried it one more time and the same happened!!! I KNOW it ain't my safeway card nor my credit card, yet the station was open. Everyone stood around not knowing the the crap happened, so I went to see the station employee, well wouldn't you know it..they were about to close the enitre station down. The pumps were going KOO KOO! And no one went to check what's going on. Uhhhh Duhhh!!! Gonna stand there and try to figure it out??? I am not that dumb few that just stands there. Whateva!! This is the "only" Safeway that serves the Tracy area, the store is basically a good serviceable store. But it could use a good cleaning, especially coming through the sliding glass doors in the entrance way, and the shopping carts are pretty dirty, & could also use a good hosing down too. Some of the customers that frequent this store are another story... I have stood in the self check-out lane, and have had an individual cut in line in front of me, and tell me he was there all the time...riiight?! And my fellow Safeway Shoppers...when "you" are backing out of a Parking Space, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY!!! It also does not help that this Shopping Center has several very busy establishments, and parking & leaving can be very difficult. I basically only frequent this Safeway when I "have" to pick up one, or two items, and regularly shop Brentwood, or Discovery Bay Safeway's. Excellent customer service today from Joshua in hot foods section. We approached the counter and there wasn't enough chicken for 2 buckets. He apologized and said he could have a fresh batch in 16 minutes. We did a little more shopping and came back about 15 minutes later. At that point the chicken counter was very busy but he still made us a priority because he knew we were waiting. We appreciate his effort and it made a great shopping experience. read more

I'll keep this short because who hasn't been to a Safeway. The lines are just too damn long. I usually only purchase a handful of items and head towards the self checkout lanes and even these lanes have quite a line. Compounding this problem is the fact that there is little space between the checkout lanes and the grocery aisles. Maneuvering yourself, let alone a shop cart, is nightmare anywhere near the checkout lanes. Poor store design? I think so... If I need to come here, I'm now shooting for non peak times. read more

Safeway has competitive gas prices so I come here often. However, sometimes I will avoid coming here because everyone in the city of Tracy comes here and it gets ridiculously crowded. On those days you typically will have 5 people ahead of you and the machines are sssoooo sssslllloooowww that you can count on a 30 minute wait. I wouldn't recommend trying to pump when it's crowded unless you have the patience of a saint. In my opinion, it's worth the extra few bucks to go to Chevron on those days. If you drive by and its clear, take the opportunity and get some cheap gas! Otherwise save your sanity. read more

The best prices I saw along 11th Street in Tracy was $3.32, and then I saw this spanking new Safeway Gas Station - with gas listed at $3.27. But when you give them your Safeway Card Number, they were supposed to deduct 3 cents more... but the price per gallon went to $3.17. (A ten cent discount.) read more

Safeway is Safeway for me. I shop like a guy and only get things I actually need; in and out. This Safeway looks just like the brand new one in my hometown of Milpitas. The ladies that work at the bakery have given me the best service I have ever received. I came in once for a Birthday cake order, and they were clearly closed or in the process of closing, but she still helped me. Extremely pleasant and helpful. On another occasion, I came in looking for an Apple Pie and didn't find it on the shelves. Before I even reached the bakery counter to ask, another female bakery employee asked me if I needed help. This is usually my to-go place for late night runs barely 5 min away from my place and open 24/7, personally I prefer Safeway for their liquor deals for members definitely a lot cheaper than liquor stores, considering you already haven't stocked up from Costco. Otherwise, usual commodities like milk, bread and egg does have its odd day requirements. The one thing I hate is even during normal evenings they have just one counter open with customers lining up with their huge home goods and the self-checkout is so damn tiring due to slow support staff and bad software. One crazy quirk in all Safeway : In self checkout you always have to press credit/debit button on the screen as well as the machine for doing the transaction, ideally in all other places if you select at one spot both will authorize once you swipe the card but SafeWay wants you to have a longer transaction ordeal. The store itself is nice - always clean and well stocked. And I don't experience the crowds here like I did in San Jose, which is awesome. Even so, we go out of our way to avoid shopping at this Safeway. Customer service here is lacking. I have yet to have someone in the deli actually pay attention to their customers. I waited at the sandwich end while TWO employees stood behind the counter in front of me, texting and chatting, completely ignoring me -- and the two people behind me. Even after an "excuse me" or two to get their attention. Another time, the employee "helping" us just couldn't seem to pay attention to what we were saying and started scooping up potato salad when we asked for a pound of sliced turkey. The checkers are hit or miss. Most of the time I'll get my total and the mumbled "do you need help out?" followed by the obligatory "you saved $X.XX today." Or, if you happen to donate to the cause of the month, they might actually look up and say thank you. I like that there's a Jamba Juice in the store, but I don't like how poorly staffed it is every time I've been in line. This last time, there were 2 people ahead of us and it took my husband 20 minutes to get our drinks (I left to go do the shopping). read more

i actually don't purchase any produce here. My main and only reason for coming here is for their sushi :) 9/10 times that i have purchased their sushi it is always fresh! It really depends on the time of day, the one time i got an okay assortment of sushi was already late in the evening and i guess the sushi chief stopped making them. Also their sushi is actually better than some of the sushi joints here in Tracy, (what a shocker). And their sandwiches are pretty good too. Ah, Safeway, another national grocery chain. The interior is nice and modern and has all the departments you would typically find at any grocery store...deli, bakery, meat and seafood, etc. This one also has a Jamba juice and Starbucks! So that means you can get your sugar and caffeine buzz while shopping for sugar and caffeine-laden products. What sets this location apart from other grocers like it is that they also have a gas station. Unfortunately, the people ruin the experience of filling up there. It is one mad traffic cluster (expletive deleted) to fuel up here. Add to that, my Safeway Club Card didn't always work with the scanners, so it did become frustrating at times. Sure, I may have saved three cents a gallon by using it, but was all the effort worthwhile? Not always, because I found that sometimes the lowest gas prices in Tracy...were at Arco. So much just to "save" a few cents! Thus, if you are looking for the least expensive gas in Tracy, either go here or go to Arco. But if you decide to go here (and depending on when you go, turns out to be the lowest price in town), watch out for the chaotic traffic clusters surrounding this area. read more

The store gets 5 stars, it's GORGEOUS! They almost everything I want, but I refuse to go there unless I have to. If I could find a time when it was empty I would go, but the parking lot is always PACKED. The clientele gets 0 stars! They'll run you over with their cart while drinking their Starbucks with one hand and talking loudly on their cell phone with the other. While living in Tracy, this was my go-to grocery store. They are conveniently open 24 hours a day, which is a big plus in my book. The manager usually says hello and asks me how I'm doing whenever she sees me, which is pretty often. They have a nice selection of gourmet cheeses. One time, I asked about a specific aged gruyere, and the lady took it to the back, opened it up, and cut me a sample to try. That's what I call customer service! They have a great policy; if they overcharge you for an item, you can take the item and receipt to customer service, they'll refund your $$ as well as give you the item free of charge. The cons: They have a bunch of boxes and stuff laying around at nighttime, so don't plan on navigating through the store easily. Minus 1 star because the bakery messed up on a special ordered birthday cake, and refused to do anything about it. Since then, the only cake I purchase from them is the Fruit Flan Cake w/ strawberries, kiwi, and mandarin orange- it's probably their only good cake. The blueberry muffins are great & come in a convenient 4 pack. For a grocery store bakery, their cornbread is moist and just the right amount of sweetness. Stay away from their Tiramisu, it's really dry and you can barely taste any espresso flavor. Ooh, they also have a Jamba Juice && Starbucks, which saves me from walking 20 steps to the other Starbucks that's in the same shopping center. read more

Safeway on 11th Street in Tracy, CA is one of the newer markets in town (+/- 10yrs) and still looks very nice from the street level as well as indoors. The selection of fruits and veggies are second to none but the meat dept can work on lowering their prices. Why 3 stars, Safeway is approx. 20% - 40% more than Save-Mart and 5% - 15% more than Raley's. Also, Location Location Location! Safeway only has 1 Location in Tracy, and are losing out to Raley's when it comes to servicing folks Southeast Tracy. If they had multiple locations with a better price point, I would give 5 stars but I know that it not how business works. I will continue my visits to Safeway as needed when I can't find the items at Raley's or Save-Mart. read more

Four stars instead of five for one reason only. You may have heard the old joke, "My other cart is a Safeway." It's for a reason. The everyday prices are high. But to balance that, they offer specials which you can find in their weekly mailings, or just look at their website and enter your zip code. Also, their $5 Fridays are good for additional savings. The store is clean, uncluttered, and well-staffed. It offers the best organic produce selection in town, and a wider variety of items than other stores... soft drinks, frozen entrees, ice cream, and cereals, for examples. Their meat and seafood departments dwarf the competition. And you can also find the occasional upscale Trader Joe's-type item that other supermarkets don't carry. A visit to Tracy's Safeway is a pleasant experience if you shop carefully, or don't really care about the prices. One thing that grinds my gears is the checker who squirts that horrible-smelling hand sanitizer on his/her hands, then touches the customer's items. Everything you take home will smell like that cheap perfume that's used to cover the smell of alcohol. And it doesn't go away. Ever. But I have to say that that is a problem in every store. So I use the self-checkout, inconvenient at first, but if I mastered it, you can too. read more

Good, quality, cheap gas, BUT DANG, everytime I need gas (twice a week), I have to wait in line, in my car for about 20 minutes, to reach the pump!
