This Safeway was pretty big and had such a wide selection to choose from. I came by around the evening with my girl to get some healthy snacks and they had all sorts of wonderful fruit platters to choose from. Got to try the berry cup and some of the berries in it was more sour than sweet. Other than that, still affordable and good for late night snacking. read more

Cleanest safeway I have ever been in. Prices are good, shiny floors, it felt classy, and boy was this place busy. People were shopping for their monthly stuff, being the first week of the month, carts were overloaded and stuff was getting smashed, has nothing to do with Safeway, other than presenting items you want in a way, you have to have it. I wanted 3 items, left with 8. That says, I needed more, because it looked too good to leave in the store for someone else type of shopping. Beware of credit cards, leave it at home, or you will shop here, and that's a good thing for SafeWay! Good job guys! Keep this place neat and gorgeous. read more

My 1st four star for a Safeway simply because it's 24 hours lol. Seriously, back home, none of them are. Accidentally dropped in because was looking for a 'quick' place to drop by to buy fruits from the I-5 but from the GPS, it made it look like it was close but totally regretted it, so many twists and turns, easily a 10-min detour but I digress. The absolute worst customer service you'll experience! Not worth battling through the always long lines, since this location seems to go out of their way to be understaffed. It takes more time to drive somewhere else, but you should spend your money at a store that respects your business. Fred Meyer's, Trader Joe's, PCC, Saars Market are all nearby. Ok I've been here in seatac a year and I usually go to the store in the evening. This is literally the SLOWEST Grocery store I've EVER seen. It's typical for people to be cursing in line as it's ONE line for the entire store. If this was an isolated incident I'd care less but I feel like something needs to change. Usually 15-20 people waiting for ONE cashier. The cashier is taking abuse which isn't fair because it's not their fault at all. New management is needed here. I always leave thoroughly disgusted. I try to pick up items at gas stations as much as possible because of the incredibly slow service at this one location at SEATAC. Pathetic. Not understanding why so many negative reviews but, this is my "go to Safeway Store" and I love it. That's not to say that Fred Meyer has many of their prices beat hands down (especially produce), but I find Safeway's customer service is superb. Example: After shopping earlier in the day, I forgot a coupon item which expired today. Too tired to return, I called and asked if they would consider honoring it tomorrow; YES - they would! Thank you David!! Also, on occasion when an item is accidentally mis-rang, just bring your receipt back and explain. NO PROBLEM - quickly taken care of. Where is the manager? The floors are so dirty & sticky I have to take my shoes off & clean them be entering the house. The carts are rarely in the store, often locked & no help in sight to unlock - if one can be found. I usually take one from the parking lot. The trash bins are loaded to overflowing. This is one of the worst ones I've been in, it seems the employees don't even like it. Roxbury/28th Ave SW location is far better. read more

This is my neiborhood store and since the removal of the self check out lanes the wait times to checkout are atrocious. It's the only thing people talk about. During peak times 5-7pm there are closed lanes. Removing self checkout should have resulted in more clerks to assist shoppers. Not longer waits... Particularly for 2/3 items. read more

Zero Stars, if I could. This Safeway pisses me off so much, I'll be following up my review with a formal complaint to Safeway's corporate office. Once upon a time I remember this was a normal Safeway with hardly any issues, now every single time I go in there (which is a lot as this is the closest grocery store to my apartment) its a nightmare! They completely did away with the self-check out lanes in this store for whatever reason, the result is there is at least a 20 minute line at every check out counter! 20 minute MINIMUM wait time in line for every purchase you make, this includes the 2 express check out lines, the Customer service desk, the Starbucks line, and the deli counter (if your luckily enough to even get served). I've found a 20 min wait to be the case regardless of what time I've visited this 24 hour location. Yes, you can still expect to wait in a long line at 3am! I feel bad for the staff that works here, they are clearly overwhelmed and over worked, this place screams BAD MANAGEMENT at every turn. After contracting a horrible eye irritation, I went here with a friend to get some medicated eyedrops and about $20 worth of misc groceries. Wanted to be in and out of the store as I felt terrible. Lines were out of control as per usual. We waited 20 mins in line. As the cashier was ringing up the groceries, we noticed the price jump up to way more then we were expecting. We were asking the cashier as to why the bill was so high ($83) and what each item was costing, she seemed annoyed and was unhelpful saying 'I'm not sure you'll figure it out when you get the receipt'- pushing us into paying and moving us out of her line. As soon as we payed and stepped out of line I reviewed the receipt and realized 3 of the items we paid for, adding up to $40, were not even apart of our order! It seems the items were tossed to the side from the previous customer and the accidentally rung up with our stuff. So in order to process the return of these items we headed to the customer service counter where we waited in this line for an ADDITIONAL 45 minutes!!! 45 minutes in line, BEFORE being served- ridiculous. It seemed everything that could go wrong while we were waiting did go wrong. The computer systems crashed, only one employee working the growing line 10+ people deep. I was so upset that we had to wait in another long line just to correct something that the check out staff messed up in the first place. Now I've tried to forget and forgive this one incidence but this is not an isolated occurrence, EVERY time I come to this location I regret it! Don't even get me started on the sight of this place on Thanksgiving day! I have may my last trip to the Safeway and will refuse to spend my money here until things change. Bring back the self check out, properly staff the store to reduce wait times, and work on boosting overall employee moral. Safeway's employees are grumpy, inattentive and straight out in the way and I believe this is a direct reflection of management. BRING BACK THE SELF CHECK OUT ISLE! Ummmm, where do I even begin? This place is awful. Literally I have never left this place without saying, "that was horrible." Why would I continue to return, you ask? As per other reviewers have said, it's the only grocery store within a reasonable distance from where I live. I generally do my weekly grocery trips at Fred Meyer in burien (they are amazing there - no complaints whatsoever) but happen I need something throughout the week (like today - a propane refill), the lines and the service are downright appalling. This review is not about the Safeway stores, but it is about the Delivery service. DON'T BOTHER!! They are extremely inaccurate and chaotic. I was charged for the entire order but only received 10% of it. I had to call Safeway and sit on hold for over 15 minutes, ultimately I was told I'd have to wait another day or they could refund. This place is horrible and treated me horribly. I was in the neighborhood for an appt., and I stopped in to get a free birthday drink at their Starbucks with my Starbucks coupon. This was sent to me in the mail. The little birthday part says on the side that that is the coupoin part and I tore that part off and gave it to them, like one would a regular coupon. When I went up to the girl in the coffe store, (Regrettably, I did not get their names in my upset state, whichi iwll not do again.) she was SO RUDE and SO OFF PUTTING as she said I needed the entire postcard. She DID NOT greet me, DID NOT say hello, and then found a manager before I had a chance to complain, b/c she knew what I was about to do, and he sat there and sided with them. He was a complete jack... and has no concept of customer service and all and he told me while he looked me up and down in a degrading manner: "Ma'am, that is our policy." Well, I do not care if it is their policy to treat people badly, but I still should have gotten my drink. I also told him that as someone who works as a Top Customer Service Rep for a VERY big company, that I did not understand the treatment and that I was simply trying to redeem my birthday coupon, which is no skin off their back. And I told them there are some times when you break policy. He was HORRIBLE to me and said if I did not like it to go somewhere else. I am DISGUSTED that I was treated this way at a Starbucks of all places and I am angry and upset that I not only walked out of there angry, but I did not get what I came in there for and I as demeaned and degraded. read more

This location is 150 ft. off of my property and I will no longer shop here for anything again. Over the last year my husband and I had started to shop here strictly for the convenience, but that isn't happening anymore. Once again on Saturday morning we were served raw, undercooked and frozen food from the deli here. When I brought the issue up to the Manager on Duty Jason, he looked at me like well what would you like me to do about it. This is at least the 4th or 5th time we have had a major food safety issue with the store's deli. Over the summer when we picked up some fried chicken and potato salad to take to friends house, 2 of the pieces of chicken were raw in the middle and the salad smelled like it had been left under a heat lamp and the salad rotted at some point a couple days before. It's not just the deli that is an issue here. The produce department isn't any better. More often than not I would find rotten, moldy, or produce that was so bad, my finger would go right through it. There was one day I went through at least 50 English cucumbers for my guinea pigs before I finally found one that was acceptable and when I took the bad ones to the produce manager, he said nothing and took them right back out to the display area to sell them. The store management is the hand down worst I have ever dealt with too. I love when I would call to ask to speak to the store manager about and issue, and I would get told she is on Vacation, only to see her when I when I walk through the door. Talk about avoiding the issue. Store Management doesn't care nor does there corporate office who gave me the run around for 45 min this morning. What concerns me is that there are a lot of patron's to this location who don't speak English and have no way to communicate there frustrations about things like this. As far as the employee mentality of, "well we are union", that needs to stop. Begin union doesn't mean you can cut corners, serve raw food and be just another reason that the store is going down hill. I was glad I was able to notify someone at the health department about the food safety issues going on. Hopefully that gets the attention of someone at the corporate office that the current store management doesn't care about the customers or if they serve the public raw, frozen or undercooked food. read more

I come here a lot late nights to go grocery shopping because we are lazy to do it during the busy day. Its a regular safeway nothing of the WOW factor, you can find all the basic needs for a kitchen. The staff is okay, could be more helpful but I mean I come at night so all the staff is working a graveyard shift, meaning they dont really want to work with a lot of people. Wow , came in to buy a drink and I had to use the bathroom , I did and when I was done I went to wash my hands and there was no paper towels so I had to use toilet paper... I found a worker named Derek he was a black man and told him there was no paper towels left and he laughed in my face.. So I went to tell another worker and he acted like he dident know what to do.. So I went up and told the cashier and he said he would replace them. I dident need any right then and there I just wanted to let them know for the next person . This stores gets really no stars. It's no wonder you walk by and the staff are complaining. Two lanes open with lines going into many of the aisles. Completely unacceptable. I would say that waiting is a part of this but I waited shooing around in this store and an hour later, there is no change in lane openings. I'm all for bringing jobs to people but if you can't handle the loads, then bring back self service to help increase customer satisfaction...even if a little!!! read more

The manager must be located far away from the front of the store or maybe he (she) just doesn't care. When there's a surge at the checkout they don't open more registers they just let the lines grow until they crowd the isles. In the past, this location has been a great choice for groceries and random things you need in the night. The staff is friendly, the aisles stay clean, and most of the food is actually great. The service, unfortunately, has taken a nosedive dive since they removed the self checkout lines. Now, the lines are growing at the odd hours of the evening you need to get a few things. The clerks are great, but there's only so much two can do for a crowd of 20-30 people. Here's hoping management gets the hint. read more

Friend and I went to the deli for a sandwich and some Chinese. It took about 5 minutes for someone to approach me to get my order together. He was an older Asian man, and hardly spoke English. He continually ignored what I was saying and just put random food on my plate. It wasn't even the right meal plan either. I ended up leaving it on the counter. My friend stood at the sandwich area for over 10 minutes. All the employees made eye contact with us and continued to ignore us. There were two Caucasian girls that turned away when I tried to ask them if we could be helped, while rolling their eyes. When we asked for help a second time, we were told that they were "too busy, I'm not helping them" for us by another older Asian man. In the time we were standing there, everyone else around us was helped. Even the people that came after us. It was the rudest treatment I've ever received at a Safeway before. The Starbucks baristas are also snappy and have gotten my drink wrong every time I've tried going here. I won't be returning. Management needs to listen to customer complaints. This Safeway was actually remodeled just a few years ago and is fine. They have a good selection of most things, but not the yuppie items that one might find in Bellevue or Seattle. This is a working class Safeway in a working class grocery store. They do have a lot of good, pre-prepared items that are good, a Starbucks, a good bakery that makes great birthday cakes and breads, and a serviceable wine and beer selection. This neighborhood is very diverse and a trip on the weekend feels like a visit to the UN, so if you have some kind of hang-up about that you might want to stay in your lily white suburb. read more

i will never shop at this store again. since they removed the 4 self check lines earlier this year to expand the starbucks, service at this store has plummeted. there are never enough checkers and lines reach all the way to the back of the store. at all hours of the day or night service is horrible. i've asked passing employees where to find something simple (butter, maccaroni and cheese, etc) and been stared at with a blank look and told "i don't know" way too many times. yesterday i walked in at 5:00pm on the way home, i counted 27 people with full carts standing in line and one checker working. one. in what world is this acceptable customer service? the quality of service at this store has fallen off terribly in recent months, and the unwillingness to help customers and open checkstands (1 open checkstand, 10 closed, 27 people in line) is disgusting. bathrooms are dirty, employees are not helpful. but hey, at least you have a big shiny new starbucks taking up half the store. i live 3 blocks away and i will never shop here again. ever. i will drive several miles out of my way to go to winco in kent. you should be ashamed safeway. read more

This used to be a really good store, They had a process called secret shops it was based off, friendliness, smile, addressing customer issues. They no longer have secret shops. A few years ago they stared shaking up the management, The new manager (name withheld) made it her mission to start firing as many of the journeymen workers, with the last few union contracts they started a 2 tear system, meaning all the new employees start at a much lower wage, low top end and reduced benefits. The sacrifice was quality customer service. (hence the reason no more secret shops), when you go from almost 100% to near zero you either improve employee performance or you except your just another mediocre grocery store and enjoy your new found profits from paying less experienced and sometimes as many of the reviews note undesirable employees. I will never again spend my resources there. I highly recommend anyone reading this do the same. read more
