I've been here a couple of times for the filling station. As good as that has been, I expected the same from the store. It met that expectation. Thankfully, shopping with the Club Card is very helpful. I find the prices a bit high, although it isn't that different than Raley's and its sister stores, Bel Air and Nob Hill. It's definitely more expensive than Target on similar items. Thankfully, there are no Super Target stores here for full competition. The self-checkouts are confusing. One had a paper bag over the display (was it ugly?), even though the green light was steady. Another was flashing and an item had been voided but there was no customer or attendant there. I waited for another machine to be vacated. By that point, everything went smoothly, but it seemed that more of the machines could have been working. read more

Bob in the meat department was so helpful. He showed me a better value package of London broil and gave me advice and cut it perfectly for my beef jerky. Other store's butchers left me wishing I'd cut it myself. BTW jerky came out excellent! read more

Good location; easy entrance off the freeway and easy exit. I avoid places that are a headache to get into and out of, and this will not be one of them. Need to fix: there are no street lamps in the parking areas on the sides of the store, only in the front lot. When I left with my mere two shopping bags, I took the bagger up on his offer to help me out to my car, because it was pitch dark where I parked. Need to add: JAMBA JUICE!!!! So disappointed that they didn't bring us a JJ. The employees were all very helpful and very friendly. It was endearing how nobody knew where to find several items on that 2nd day of the store being opened, but they did everything to help out. And one lady even had a stack of maps! Also being the 2nd day, it was a madhouse; people, baskets and children everywhere. But that was completely expected, no deductions for that! There was a sea of gorgeous produce, a Starbucks at the front, which is totally inconvenient. Most Starbucks-in-Safeways are on the side, aka at next to the checkstands, where it's convenient. Up at the front of the store, it's a big jumbled mess, and you can't stop for a coffee in the middle of your shopping. Organic produce is cheaper at Raley's. Several other items are also cheaper at Raley's. There's nothing particularly special about the location, I wasn't as impressed as I had expected to be, and will continue to be primarily a Raley's customer and come over to Safeway for a few items. read more

Do not shop here. The meat goes bad in 2 days, the fruits and veggies are very low quality and regularly are wilted or bruised like crazy.

Super-clean "newish" Safeway store. Great staff - love the really helpful and friendly check-out ladies. Well-stocked, great prices, kinda quick checkout. Never had any issues here... 4 solid stars! I really like Safeway grocery stores...weird? read more

This Safeway used to be my favorite local grocery store. I am proud to support my local stores but to day Camille, the Safeway cashier gave me horrible customer service. I felt they miss treated me and my family. I am very disappointed and no longer come and support them anymore. BTW, I left Safeway and come to Lucky in Hopyard and they gave me so much respect. Good customer service is the best policy for any successful business! read more

I got nothin' but love for Safeway because they are like my go to place for groceries and $6 combo meals. When I don't feel like cooking, I have a tendency to come here and get their combos. It's nice because you can choose one entree (hot or cold) and two sides. I usually get their hot chicken tenders and I gotta say, they are delish! It must be the batter they use to fry the tenders because they have an unforgettable taste that keeps me comin' back for em! It's also nice because I feel like they have healthy sides besides potato salads. This is a clean grocery store and the surrounding stores here seem good as well. By the way, for you Redbox lovers, they have one inside! Also, outside and near the store, they have their own gas station. I would definitely come back to this store! read more

I now buy all of my meat at Lunardi's in Danville. Best meat place in a 20-mile radius.

I use Safeway on line order service for a food delivery. I am so sorry I did, I received many items that were work and a jar of pickles that had been slammed around leaked all over the other items in the bag. The best part was it leaked on my carpet from the front door to my kitchen. I called customer service and I received no help whatsoever. I filled out a comment on line and it gave me the option of receiving an email or telephone call. I selected a call it's been 5 days still have not received anything. Safeway has gone down hill, they treat their customers like crap and act like they are doing you a favor. I do not use yelp unless something is really bad. Thank God they are many other places to shop. I guess either Safeway just doesn't care or the unions of become to strong. read more

Gas station! EV charging station! My wife Arlene says inside it's the best Safeway she's ever seen. The gas station matters greatly because the Safeway claims about gas station savings meant little since we formerly had to go to eastern Livermore to redeem them. From our part of Fremont, this gas station will make the gas station discounts program worth paying attention to. I walked over to the gas station and saw that the gasoline prices were quite reasonable, 3.29, 3.39 and 3.49 as of 8/19/2015. The EV charging station has all 4 charging cords located against the north wall of the Safeway (outside of course) adjacent to the gas station. The cords are not very long; so, should your vehicle have its charging port near the back of your car, plan to back into the stall. I have attached a photo of four vehicles charging at the Charge Point station. Fees as of now were free for the first hour, and then a whopping $5 for subsequent hours. Let's try our best to be considerate of Safeway. The person in the next car sat with the windows up (AC running) and worked on her phone instead of going into the Safeway. I was in my car, and my wife had gone into the Safeway and spent a lot of money. read more

The most clean, beautiful, and well stocked Safeway I've ever been to! Very impressive selection of specialty items too. Wow!

This store is always busy, always clean, and has a nice mix of personable people. Being able to shop, get gas, And a great Pharmacy is such a plus! The Pharmacy has the best prices of any other Pharmacy in Pleasanton. They are happy to let you know the price with and without insurance. It is painless to shop at this Pharmacy, unlike most others in town. They keep in stock what you need, there is no ordering on most items unless it's a speciality item. They are better than the mail order system. Great work Monika! The store is like a small City, but if you are from out of town, and stoping because it's close to the freeway, you won't be disappointed. For such a high trafficked store, they do a great job of keeping it current and a pleasant place to visit. Their flowers are always fresh and I have had some last 2 weeks. I've been coming since they opened, am so glad they are here. read more

This comment is for the young kid behind the counter at Starbucks!!! Horrible horrible customer service. Standing in line waiting to be helped and he didn't even acknowledge me or say hello. Instead, his female blonde coworker walked by and he began to engage conversation with her. Neither said hello to me. The female worker made eye contact with me but didn't say a word. I finally asked the guy if he was open and he said "ready whenever you are" with tone in his voice. So as a customer am I supposed to acknowledge the worker first? I just walked away because I was appalled by the attitude he gave me. I was just waiting for acknowledgement. I literally felt invisible to them. Train your employees customer service skills!!! What a horrible experience. read more

For work I sometimes need to buy floral decorations for my convention booth decorations. I like going to new larger Safeway's because they usually have a great selection. I walked into the side of the store with the floral department. I walked around and didn't find any type of flowers that I liked. I took my cart with me to head back outside to look at the display of other flowers they had lining the front of the store. As I walked to the door the cart completely locked up on me and I couldn't go outside. Even though there was nothing in it. I got so pissed I just left. Don't put items on display outside if you want people to possibly go out and buy them with a cart they got inside. Don't waste my time! read more

It's almost impossible to get a cake in a reasonable amount of time I ordered a cake three days in advance and it took me over an hour to pick it up because there's never anyone in the bakery dept in the afternoon. This is the third time this is happened to me in the last month. Each time I've had to go to the deli or the butcher to ask them to find someone who works in the bakery. I think it's official I've given up on Safeway cakes and it's time to move on after 20 years of purchasing cakes for our family. Plus the parking lot has so many Seagulls that it reminds me of the flea market in San Jose. read more

Had to make a quick grocery run & I knew I'd be picking up my most beloved bagels at Bagel Street Cafe, right across the parking lot, so no brainer..... I really like the layout of this store & everything is so easy to find - not to mention the store is ginormous - they have a nice & big bakery section w/ all kinds of fresh breads ( have yet to try their desserts ) Mom is a huge fan of their fried potatoes & onion rings & they have a lovely selection of almond, coconut, & soy milks, which we both dig I'm also loving their produce selection - fruits are consistently fresh & there is a wide selection of crisp veggies. I also like the growing organic section & prices are better than other groceries that offer organic ( you know who I mean) But for the love of all that is good & delicious, WHY isn't there a larger selection of veggie items??? While there is my all time fav Annies in the freezer cases (but not a lot), seeing Morning Star & like 2 kinds of Boca is pathetic - there is SO much more variety out there. Please consider your vegetarian customers & save us from driving all over creation to pick up onesies & twosies from each grocery store. I'd like you to be my 1-stop shop! Let's see if we can make this happen! read more

The only time I stop by this Safeway is when I am driving on 680 to or from San Jose. I stopped by quite a few times to use their restroom :) The restroom is at the very front entrance near the seating area, so I find it convenient that I do not have to walk all the way to the back of the store. Amazingly the restrooms here are quite clean...Lol :D As for the store I have not actually walked around, but I did buy a bag of chips at the front! There are self check out lanes too :) But based on the front entrance area this store is clean and big :) Also, there's a Safeway gas station, so use your Club card to fill up on gas! I think this is a great store/area for a pit stop :) read more

Rude staff, snobby people, wreckless drivers!! 1) Rude Staff: Okay, I'll be honest, there are some nice staff members here, but I have been treated like a dummy and wow was I heated. Example? Walked to the self check out line with some cherries, put them on the scale/scanner. Before I can even do anything, the lady overseeing all the self check out stands comes over and sarcastically asks me, "do you really think that's going to scan? you need to enter the code." I tell her I knew that and I only sat it down so I can put other items down. This lady scoots me over and starts mumbling and was attempting to look for the "code". I told her I got it and she says, "No, I need to show you the code". After a long day of work, I was this close to socking her in the face. 2) Snobby people: Yes, this is Pleasanton and 99.9% of these people are rude so I guess that's nothing new. 3) Wreckless drivers: With that said (snobby people point), all these mofo rich fellas can't drive for sheeeeeet!!! Example? One time I was sitting in my parked car after coming out of Safeway, this lady pulls up next to me with her SUV. The spot was huge and she had to repark 3 times to be straight. Okay, fine. Then she gets out, smacks her door into my side mirror, looks at me eye to eye, then walks away. REALLY???? DID YOU NOT SEE MY CAR? YOU COULDN'T EVEN NOD TO SAY YOU'RE SORRY OR ANYTHING???? I was going to key her car, but hey what goes around comes around. I guess the wreckless driver part doesn't only apply to Safeway, but to everyone in this parking lot and all of this area. But all in all, this Safeway is just like any other one. Nothing special. read more

the new safeway looks the same as most newer ones except it's larger. counters include starbux, deli, bakery, asian, sandwiches, sushi, bakery, fish and meat, etc. they have literally thousands of items "on sale" (marked down .50 cents) and almost all need a safeway card to get the savings. i usually give them my number which works as well. selves have more higher quality "gourmet" items than older stores. buys: deschutes "fresh hop mirror pond" , 5.99 off $2., 21 oz, .5% -pale ale has light, smooth tarty taste. beer notes: -this safeway has a large supply of 6 paks and 21 oz. micros. This store has been my main squeeze since I started working in the area. I'm here pretty much every other day and never disappointed in produce, stock, employees or lines! I've almost got every aisle locked in my memory but the days I'm at fault, there is always a clerk nearby for a helping hand. I appreciate their bountiful stock of fresh fruit -- especially the grapes, mmm -- and their fully faced aisles of everything I need from soup to bread! No matter what I'm there for it's always a quick in and out with total satisfaction! read more

I went by last night after the gym--and this location is a good 15+ min from my house. I was motivated by the fact that I got mailers for the 'new' Safeway, plus coupons, etc...and if you know me, I love me a good deal. :) Got all excited driving up, sparkling Xmas lights greeted me into the parking entrance. Clean, brand-new carts. Fully stocked and not at all busy. There was a group of gentlemen walking around, analyzing the store, obvious from corporate. I get it, I do this myself...and please, you're in a grocery store. I passed them numerous times and someone could not stop passing gas, disgusting. I couldn't push my cart away fast enough (and no it wasn't me because I just came from the gym. ;p). Standing in line, it LOOKED like the shortest line and some lady was taking forever. Annoying, and the cashier was very apologetic--not her fault, I get it. Well, the dude in front of me felt the need to ask for mgmt to complain....then ask for a DISCOUNT? Dude, you're already at Safeway---its called a club card. Sign up, and use it. OMG, get over it. I'm cheap myself, and even I thought that was crazy. The poor lady cashier looked at him, flabbergasted then paged for a manager, as requested. Good Lord. She was fast and efficient, which made me happy. All in all, I was hoping and expecting a fabulous out of the world experience (like walking into a brand new TARGET ;P), and, really, I'll just take my booty down to Safeway in Dublin--much closer to my house, and its the same damn thing. Live and learn. ;) read more

First let me ask why my phone has no signals at any of the safeways? I always have to walk out to make calls. Anyways this location is fairly new. Very large and clean. They have a large selection of wines, cheese, and flowers. Prices are a little higher but they have everything you need. They have a coffee shop and a smoothie shop inside. They also have a gas station which is at least $0.20 cheaper than other gas stations in Pleasanton. Staff are friendly and you can get help quickly. Pharmacy is large and clean and usually minimal wait. At last again I ask why no signals inside store. As soon as you pass the cash registers your phone just has no bars. read more

Woo, this Safeway is big! it's also well stocked, clean and has a gas station. I prefer this store to the one in Dublin for the selection. Typically, it has the items I'm looking for and it's a quick in or out without terrible lines. Maybe I like this store because I tend to come in the middle of the day doing errands.
