I liked that everything wasn't locked up. I wasn't planning on buying anything. My friend wanted to come here to pick up some essentials. While browsing the aisles, the one deal that caught my eye was on the large size of Post Great Grains cereal on sale for $1.99. I thought it was a great price for a big box of cereal and they had different flavors as well so I had to pick up a few boxes. I came here earlier in the day so there wasn't much of a line with one cashier working. It was nice to see another cashier open up when there were three people in line. My cashier was nice and I was out in no time. The best part about this store compared to other CVS was that you didn't have to worry about parking. Plenty of free parking all around since the location was in the El Cerrito Plaza.

In this case, I placed an order on Walgreens.com for 12 items and was willing to pay a shipping charge since there were 12 items and I could spread out the relatively high shipping charge across those items. When the items arrived, guess what? there were only five items - but they still charged me the full shipping charge and cancelled the rest of the order. Had I known that they would do this, I never would have placed the order. I would've placed it from a competing company. When I called Customer Service and asked for a proportional refund of the shipping charge, I was told that there was no way to refund it because I had not ordered enough items to trigger free shipping. They also told me that I had ordered an out of stock item - but there was no way for me to know that I had ordered an out of stock item because the website didn't tell me that the item was out of stock. This seems like a relatively straightforward scam: allow the customer to place an order that cannot possibly be fulfilled, then charge the customer a surcharge which cannot be refunded, then deliver the customer less than what they had ordered and give only a partial refund. When I asked who was responsible on the customer service call, they told me that the items did come from the store so that is why this is the place that is receiving the one star review. But I suspect that the Walgreens e-commerce team is the guilty party here. In any case it looks like my one star review won't do much additional damage to this location since it is already in the dumps on Yelp. If you are a consumer protection advocate or a journalist, feel free to contact me for additional information.

If I ever need to talk to them I "send a message" about that Rx from the CVS app and someone always calls me back, usually within 5 mins, and the longest wait was 30 mins. They're usually really quick to understand and solve any issues too, and the pharmacists I've spoken to are quite personable. After bad experiences with huge impersonal chain pharmacies like big W, I really enjoy this one. Just wish they had a drive through, but I never mind a quick trip though target :)

I decided to get another yesterday before my optometry appointment but when I walked into where the store had been I was surprised to be told they no longer sold assistive devices, that the stores had been closed because of slow sales and were now departments. The nice young women working there had several suggestions for places outside Kaiser to get them. Last night I wondered whether Johnston's in South Berkeley might have them so this morning I called them. They do, but their hours are now 8:30 to 12:00, which doesn't work for me, as I'm up late and sleep late, but I was prepared to suck it up and do it. When I went on Yelp to let them know the new hours, Always Care came up. It's directly across from Picnic and I have driven past it countless times, but it really hadn't registered. I called them and they do have exercise bands, so I decided to stop by today as part of my errands. That's exactly what I did, finding parking right in front. I had stopped by Picnic earlier in my errands and had taken a photo of the storefront from across the street. The door was locked, w/ a sign directing patrons to ring the doorbell, which I did. The owner, Stan, let me in and when he looked down and saw my exercise band in my hand he knew who I was. He brought me a new one, one that was longer and stronger than what I had, which was much sturdier than the bands I had had previously from Kaiser's PT department, so I had assumed mine was about the strongest available. Not the case. So mine has been retired and tomorrow I will start using the new one. If I ever need another assistive device I will most certainly come here. All sales are final, which seems reasonable to me.

I've gotten some prescriptions filled here, including pet prescriptions, filled here for a while…read more This is my preferred Costco so it works out well. They've always seemed to be able to turn my order in a timely manner, no major pharmacy problems. Plus it doesn't hurt that my wife and I are Costco Exec membera together so I think it counts toward our 2% cash back. There have been lines before but nothing too drastic in terms of time waiting to get served. If I'm focused on just getting the prescription and nothing else, the process moves really smooth and I can get out of their quickly, although I need to summon a lot of will power to not buy anything else.
