This review is only for the Safeway Tik Tok Wok Chinese Buffet in the Deli section of the store. I was running an errand near the Blackhawk Safeway Store and decided to see what their Asian Buffet was like. This one differs a bit from the other supermarket Asian Buffets in that you get your own plate and select your own food choices using tongs or ladles to add them to your paper plate. The price is the same as their salad bar - $7.99/lb. In most other stores I've seen, the food is behind the glass case counter and a service person puts your plate/carton together. The pricing at these places where the plate is assembled for you charge by the number of choices you make rather than by the pound. I liked this 'self service' better because you can vary the amounts of each choice you make and it all gets charged at the same rate of $7.99/lb. That mean you have a lot more freedom of choice - a little of this, a lot of that, etc. I made up a carton of 3 items (Orange Chicken, Chicken w/ green beans, Kung Pao Chicken) plus the Chicken Chow Mein. I guess I got a little carried away with the portions. It ended up costing me $13.06. I thought it would be about $10! That's OK because I couldn't eat it all anyway and took about 1/2 of it home for later. The various items were surprisingly good. The green bean tasted fresh/crispy and the chicken pieces were nice and tender with a nice sauce. The two other chicken items were nicely sauced and the ratio of chicken to veggies on the Kung Pao Chicken was excellent. There were a couple of negatives. Chicken was the prevailing protein. It would have been better to have a wider selection other than being almost all chicken-based items. The other negative - no indoor seating. That day was no problem because it was a nice, beautiful, sunny day and I ate my lunch at one of several communal metal umbrella tables and chairs set up just outside the door. All in all, it was pretty good for a supermarket deli offering. Jim

I like this Safeway my favorite place to get vegetables and just found out that they have dry aged steaks can't wait to try them out.

High class prices and foods.....low class customer service!…read moreI drove 50 miles roundtrip from Oakland to their store in Danville on Saturday afternoon to purchase premium sandwiches for a party we were having. At 3PM I attempted to order 6 sandwiches from the deli department....the guy working there said he was out of rolls! What? Out of rolls at only 3PM? How can ANY huge supermarket run out of rolls? So, I went over to their bread department and found some rolls. He then told me he can not use rolls from their own bread dept to make sandwiches. I made it clear to him I was willing to pay extra for the rolls but he said he couldn't do it. So I went and got the store manager on duty, a nice fellow named John. John was very apologetic about having run out of rolls and he also agreed that his staff should have made my sandwiches with bread from the bread department, given they prematurely ran out of rolls. He went over and spoke to the woman behind the deli counter. She told the Manager that they never said they wouldn't make the sandwiches from alternative bread, it was just that I did not say I would be paying extra for that bread! That was not the truth. When I said to her directly you are not speaking truth to your manager and I said do not put words into my mouth, she insisted I never told the guy back there I'd pay extra for the bread! Who needs such confrontations and frustrations over sandwiches after driving 25 miles each way to buy some? I walked out. We will never be shopping at Lunardi's market again. They sure know how to apply excessive high prices to their goods while at the same time not providing any exceptional customer service! That store has some major issues with their staff and attitude problems. This is the fault of upper management not instructing their underlings what a "premium store experience" should feel like. I certainly could have gotten a more customer friendly, positive experiences from any local Dollar Store, compared to the circus I received at Lunardi's Saturday!

Any butcher worth their salt, should know what that is. He huffed and puffed, and said "tell me inches." I told him 1 1/2 inches. He rolled his eyes again and said "there you go buddy!" I told him to forget it. They offer full service butchery, but they will hate you if you ask for anything. If you want that kind of attitude for overpriced choice beef and the same Swift Pork you can get at any grocery store then you will love it here.

Clearly trying to instigate a confrontation, these individuals needed to be addressed. Three people approached store employees and a shrug of the shoulders, and a well they always come back, is not enough. I timed when to leave the store to avoid another confrontation. It was very uncomfortable, felt isolating, and if you read the customers in the store, you can see the annoyance and agitation Created by the two individuals trespassing at your store. Why did it take customers to call the local police to come by and ask them to leave? When I left they had not yet arrived and it had been at least 15 minutes. Do better. You should be the ones calling and you should at least try to have conversation with the customer base to alleviate the unnecessary stress that a few individuals can create. These two were only approaching females and high school males on their lunch break. Do better.

It's located on the borderline of Walnut Creek and Alamo-ish areas, and certainly not in an area most people would be driving by unless you live in this area since it's mostly residential here, or you're driving through Olympic locally for something in that direction that's not the downtown. First things first, it's a small place. It's a local market, so it's not going to be very large. They do have their own parking lot in the front, and there's also plenty of parking in the back as well, so that shouldn't be an issue here even though the store is small. While I've seen some people note this as a Japanese market, it is not. While they carry a small section of Japanese stuff, here, most of the things are very much a Chinese focused type of offerings, from the types of produce, to the packaged stuff here. They'll have some miscellaneous stuff like a section just for pastas and sauces in the right side of the store on a rack, they're mostly a Chinese market. If you need a comparison, they're like a mini 99 Ranch. Price wise, it's about right for this area. If you compare it to other grocery market chains it's definitely not comparable, but for a local market in this area, it's not bad. The fish is indeed on the more expensive side, but it does look pretty fresh at least so there's that. They also have some to-go sushi boxes of stuff. It's nice to see they have a variety of offerings from their sushi to-go options, albeit, not cheap but at least they did look pretty good though. The sashimi boxes looked great because the fish quality appears to be great here. The only thing again, it is a bit pricey for some of these options, so just be aware of that. Green Fish is a nice little market for this area, and certainly will have a variety of things here you may be interested in. Again, it's not a large market, so just be aware of space if they do get busy. The fish counter is literally wedged into the corner of the store, but still offers fresh seafood options for those locally to buy from (albeit a bit pricey). They have offerings of various things akin to 99 Ranch, but certainly more focused on mostly Chinese and Japanese as oppose to Ranch that offers a lot of different Asian brands too. While they have pastas and sauces and stuff, that's basically it for the non-Asian market stuff. This is very much an Asian market. I will definitely want to try out some of those takeout rolls and maybe their sashimi eventually.

The shop ladies were so super friendly and kind. They said we could try any of the balsamic vinegar flavors mixed with sparking water if we wanted to. (But I thought these were only for salads? Not what I thought it would be. It tasted like a soda without all the sugars. It was actually quite refreshing and delightful. I asked what their top 3 flavors were: - Cranberry Pear - Peach - Sicilian Lemon I decided to try Peach. She added sparking water to it. Omg! That was even more delicious. I'm pretty sure any of these flavors will be a hit. Different flavored vinegars and olive oils adorned the walls! Each flavor has a sign with its name, what they are best used for, and what they are best paired with. I wish I could try them all but I can save that for another visit. They also sell pastas, tea towels, little bowls, and other cute things to go with their products. Also found out that Maison Benoit uses their products at their bakery. I never received the text message they promised. I returned on Friday, and once again they couldn't locate my prescription. After more searching, they finally found it -- but they also tried to give me someone else's order at the same time. I had to explain that I only had one prescription and asked them to verify it using my phone number, not just my last name. The entire experience was very unprofessional, disorganized, and frustrating. On top of that, the drive-thru wait was over 20 minutes. For something as important as prescriptions, accuracy and communication should be a priority. This pharmacy seriously needs to improve its customer service and organization.
