We stopped in for a quick hit and run. We needed a few items for a recipe as well as some milk and 1/2 & 1/2. The store was clean with wide aisles, and everything appeared to be well stocked and organized. The checker was friendly and efficient. What more could one want? The majority of our grocery shopping is done at another major chain which used to be local but is now just another cog in a huge corporate entity that doesn't seem to care about it stores, employees or customers. I like the people at the store & the hot food section but disappointed that the whole store only stocked 1 brand of smoked salmon. This was the only one at the store which I bought today but unfortunately it tasted off and looks brown in certain areas. I opened it within 1 hour of buying it and it's well before the stated expiration. I had to throw it away and took these pics to talk to the manager but there's nothing online contact them. Lucky California! Store #708 I just got ripped off about $50 Due to the fact I had no idea about Digital coupons. I did everything I could to save some money. Buy 2 bacon so I did. Buy 3 for $5 cinnamon rolls I did that. The bacon cost me $14 each instead of $7 as advertised there is more don't have the energy to figure this all out. The cinnamon rolls cost me over $22 dollars, not the five as advertised. The Digital coupon is a scam. I am older as is most of their clientele in this community. I go to this Luckys because it's close to my office. I bought a sealed bag of Columbus prosciutto and took it back and had a small bit and it tasted off. The expiration was Jan 2024 and its December 2023 so it wasnt expired. But when opening it all of the prosciutto had mold! I'm so disgusted. The cashier was sweet and offered me a refund right away and the person bagging items took the prosciutto away to the deli. I asked for a manager and he didnt do anything to make the situation better. He offered me another one but all of them looked old. I'm so disgusted that even their cured meats are molding. read more

Great local store with mostly friendly people. Beware of the deli section. There's one woman in charge of the cakes that's awesome but everyone else behind that counter will not be as friendly. I come here sometimes to buy bottled water - 1-gallon Crystal Geyser Spring Water at $0.99 - when I don't feel like a 99 Ranch Run. They seem to have a good variety of beers, and the seafood/meat section looks decent. Compared to Safeway, I seem to have better luck with speedy cashiers every time I shop here. This location would be a great place to open a deli! This deli has the WORST customer service I have ever seen! They ignore you while you stand there waiting. I'm not sure why they even bother having a deli here! I don't even bother looking at the deli here anymore. I have complained to employees and management over the years and nothing changes. So now I drive to Sprouts to a real deli and they sell Boars Head there instead of some knock off brand! This Lucky doesn't even sell Bologna but they sell Mortadella, figure that one out! You know, I didn't notice the fish smell until I walked to the other side of the store to buy my deli treats. So, yeah, you're right Mrs. Tam this place does kind of stink. But the deli was fine. I can be really annoying when I need to be and this was one of those days. I wanted the largest size tub filled half way with Cesar Salad, then half way with Fiesta Chicken Salad. No way, no can do. I had to buy a small size of Fiesta Chicken Salad and the large size filled half way with Cesar Salad so that I could do a little salad shaker thing with the larger tub. It was a good lunch and they use their own rotisserie chicken that is very yummy. I liked this Lucky's food options better than the San Ramon Lucky's. This USED to be the grocery store to go to, now its rotted away to nothingness. Their selection sucks and I treat this place as a convience store, meaning you probably aren't going to find exactly what you want and what they do have is extremely limited. Your best bet is to head over to any of the Safeways in the area as they seem to have the better selection these days. read more

Called this store as I had a question on an item in their ad. The employee who answered said her name is Kathy. She said she's busy with other customers so she can't check the info. I asked for the manager, and she said this person's off today. So I asked for the assistant manager, and Kathy said she will get the person for me. Guess what happened next? Kathy hang up on me!!! Poor customer service!!! By the way, soon after, I called the Dublin store and the employee helped me! She put me on hold while she checked the price, and even gave me the total amount. Kathy should learn good customer service from this employee! read more

I never saw that dude again and everyone here is so consistently pleasant and courteous. They've been renovating it so the inside now matches the great prices. Definitely the best spot for fresh groceries at reasonable prices. Ive never had an issue with food quality here. Line can get a bit long in the day but they are quick to call for backup. I would shop here more often but I'm usually too lazy for anything other than delivery (and my wallet suffers for it) read more

Have never been to a grocery store where every single person was rude and unfriendly. Maybe they are under poor management but it was clear they are all unhappy. First time I've been to a store where the butcher did not want to grind meat for us. The heavy woman who was the butcher clearly did not want to do anything extra. Then the "key holder" Gloria who was ringing us up told us "don't worry the butcher isn't trying to steal meat from you, she can't take it home." Rude!! And very unprofessional! There was one nice lady in the meat department who understood we are a little old school and just wanted our meat grinded. This store really fitted the perception of Danville. Glad I don't live nearby and that is not my neighborhood Lucky's. read more

YUCKY. This place stinks like fish the minute you walk in. The produce is ass and basically, this is a store to stop at due to sheer desperation. Since this is the closest grocery option that is open after 9pm, there is sometimes a need to come here, but I am happy to pay a little more for things at Long's next door which is open till midnight. read more

Like many, I was a DEDICATED customer when Lucky's was at the Diablo Rd. Location. Due to the distance. My family does our grocery shopping at Trader Joe's, and Lunardi's. Today is EASTER SUNDAY, and this downtown location is OPEN with many employees not at home with their families. I was one of only 2 customers in the store, while at least 6 employees were present to greet the customers. 5 STARS for these employees for having the work ethic to report to the job on this Religious Holiday. I appreciated the store being OPEN as I needed 1 item for my ham glaze... but certainly, I would rather do without, than to keep an individual from being with their family on a Holiday. Lucky's / Albertsons - Please think of your hard working employees. We customers only shop on the Holidays,, because the store is OPEN. Note: I work for a retail employer too, We had to work today too, but LIMITED hours. ONE less star - as there were three check stands with a checker and bagger for each present. ALL individuals were cheerful and engaged in conversation,,, I went to Checkstand 1 where I expressed my appreciation for the employees working today. This Lucky looks old and rundown. There's no self checkout so things go slow at checkout.

It's convenient and inexpensive, but one stroll past the meat and fish counter makes me want to only buy things in sealed cans and boxes from here. I don't have super high standards but I really question how sanitary some of the prepared open foods are. I'm sure if there was a problem everyone would know about it, but I really try to avoid it except for canned basics. read more

The "fish" smell reported in other reviews is real, continuous and NOT pleasant. It seems to indicate to me this place doesn't care about their customers. If they did, they'd get it fixed. And fresh fish doesn't stink like this. It really smells like rotted fish. I will not, can not, recommend this place. Or ever shop there again. I was literally chased out by the stink today, and left gagging. I can't imaging bringing home food from this place. Albertsons failed as a business and left Northern California. The supermarkets were sold to a smaller California based grocery chain. This supermarket was renamed back to the original name of Lucky that this store opened under. This store has some good sales and there is a new ad every week. Also there are many unadvertised items for sale. You don't need a club card here. They give the sale prices to everyone. The store is clean and well stocked. I did not notice anything that was out of the ordinary. I spend a lot of time evaluating and scrutinizing supermarkets, so I know a clean one when I see it. They even have self serve coffee for 99 cents a cup. There's also tazo tea if you like. The shopping carts even have cup holders. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They have a service Deli with great made to order sandwiches for only 4.99. There is also a full service meat and seafood counter. There's always plenty of parking and it is never crowded like other supermarkets. There's a Bank of America atm inside. read more

They sell expired fruit bowl even though it said it expires in a week or so. They weren't edible at that time. Cashier kid wanted to see the fruits after I showed receipt and picture of the fruit that went bad. I threw it away since it was slimy and bad taste without knowing he wanted to see it. I barely shop at Luckys, but thought I'd give it a try. Before heading down I decided to call the Meat and Seafood department to see if they had anymore of their bone in ribeye at 5.99/lb per their sale ad. I was connected and the person who answered was so short and curt with me. I first asked if they had the value pack they advertised and before I could finish my sentence said they were out. Ok...I was trying to ask if they knew if they would be getting in another shipment from their purveyors and they cut me off and said they don't know there is a meat shortage. I know there's a meat shortage and grocery stores should know when their next shipments come in and when they come in so my question was not unreasonable to answer or get an answer to. My husband works in the restaurant industry and always knows when he is getting product, what products and when from his purveyors. I'll stick to my normal grocery stores and ordering direct through my husbands purveyors, at least they're polite and willing to have a conversation regarding products they advertise. read more

The butcher counter cooks not only rotisserie chicken, but New York steak and whole Tri-Tip, and puts them in a hot case near the deli. Pretty sure their fried chicken (at the deli) gave my family food poisoning. How naive of me to think it would be similar to Safeway's which (say what you will about grocery store fried chicken) never got us sick! The store itself seems old and oddly placed but I was willing to look past it as it is a convenient stop for me after picking up my daughter from a nearby school. But I have a feeling the food handling by deli employees is not up to par here...will not be going back to the deli, and as one other reviewer put it, I may just stop by for beer if necessary because it's sealed and can't be messed with. read more
