On Friday 5, 2026 Danville store # 786 Pathetic enough for a company that's open to the public to have a 2 1/2 star rating. The company in higher authority, needs to look at that as detrimental, & really look at this as a crisis in changing management practices. I'll go into further details. My elderly client likes to shop here to get her items. To stock up for the week. Since she lives in Blackhawk, she prefers shopping at the Danville Smart & Final store. Every time I go in, there's always conflict & harassment within the store. Among the employees, and even the customers that shop. Completely disrespectful and it takes zero dollars to be decent. Which the majority of humanity fails at doing. There's been a couple of incidents between a supervisor named Natina. Calling out a specific employee named Lina, right in front of my client and I. There was another customer in the back of us when, I did not finish my transaction at the register. Completely unprofessional, the right thing to do is take the employee in a private setting and confront the employee not in front of the customers. Another incident with Natina, when I had asked where the Polish sausages were. She had yelled out, YOU CAN'T SEE them? Pointing RIGHT here. I bypassed and telling her anything that I wanted to tell her. Because I'm not with the drama. But unfortunately, after encounter and encounter, of the disrespect. I want to go above and beyond to report the ladies that work at this company in management. Creating so much havoc. When my client and I shop here. The treatment at the store, with the customers & employees is mind-boggling. If there were no shoppers in the store, that whole company would fall to the ground. Which puts money in their pockets to pay their bills. A customer by the name of Carl Kumar. Had reported the company as well for the harassment and treatment of the customers. Not only the customers but a specific cashier & employee that's been with the company for a really long time. I honestly don't know how management. Lisa and Natina. Go to sleep at night with themselves. They must really not like their life, to treat anybody within indecency. My client sees the harassment in the store as well as other customers and myself. Confronting this issue I brought it to the store manager Lisa's attention. Lisa did not want to hear my side of the story. She had told me that because I had confronted her, that this would fall back on Lina. An employee that's been the company for a long time. I didn't feel like I needed to know that. That's none of my business. My problem is not with Lina. My issue is with Natina. A supervisor that is always harassing the employees and the customers. Lisa not wanting to hear the conflict between the situation. Plus solving the issue at hand. I don't know who put her in charge. She's horrible at doing her job. Management at the store is completely disrespectful. I do not know why Lisa would bring Lina into the equation. Other than Lisa wants Lina to lose her job that & isn't right. Lisa said this because i told her. I will report the situation and issues at hand, to the Higher official. Every job title needs to have conflict resolution management classes, in how to solve an issue among the employees. And no harassment or conflict should be even obligated or facilitated between customers EVER. Natina is right! lol I don't own the company at Smart & Final. Neither does she, but she fails to realize that I am a customer. I will not be going to human resources, for any of the conflict at hand or complaints. Simply because I am not an employee at Smart & Final. I am a customer. Which in retail Customer Service the customer is always right. There's always somebody above somebody else. The messiness at the store is mind-boggling. Not only from the customers disrespect by the management at the store, but also to the employees at conflict. Also I would like to mention the lanes at Smart & Final are not wheelchair accessible. They are so narrow for any kind of disabled person to get through those lines and navigate effectively. Too many things in the aisle, with crowded spaces. I also wanted to bring this up to Lisa's intention, but she did not want to hear what I had to say. Therefore Lisa not handling the conflict at hand. I felt like my only obligation at the time was to contact Danville Police to report this issue. Has a bad attitude, rolls his eyes at customers and makes them (inc me) wait while he slowly unrolls coins or puts paper bags away. Then The female checkers and the other gentleman are really good . Wow. I guess is should have looked at the reviews first. Was running a bit early to a meeting in Danville and always see this store but never went in. Picked up a case of Red Bulls for our office in Pleasanton. They fortunately had it in stock but locked up. Rather than wait in line I noticed checker #5 had nobody and was moving displays. She barked at me to wait in line on aisle 1! African American young lady having a bad morning I guess??? A few minutes passed she got the cabinet keys and helped me, but I still didn't understand the attitude. She opened Fort Knox and I carried the case to number 5 check since she seems to have a bum leg. She mention how much the tax was and I just paid and left. Saying have a nice day since she didn't. The Asian lady with drawn by black permanent marker eye brows is the worst. Very rude and unhelpful with rude comments outbursts right in your face (what's wrong with her ?!) . After i asked for some help which was not provided and i complained to her about it she told me to "shut up", that i am not a customer but Door Dash (i was on a shop and pay errand for a CUSTOMER who paid for her groceries and was waiting for me to get and deliver them to her), then through endless, rude mumblings towards me, i could of sworn she said the word "sh.t" at one point. WOW ! I can't believe they allow such "employees" to work at their store. If it wasn't for my Door Dash gig, i'd never step my foot in this store. This was our first, and probably last time, coming to this Smart & Final. We came at a slower hour on a Monday evening. We enjoyed the selection and competitive pricing offered, however, the service left a lot to be desired. At the register, we left our items in the basket, as we have had other cashiers prefer to have all the items in one place. Our cashier for the evening, Taylor, commented "It's all gotta come out of the basket eventually", unhappy with our choice. Had he asked, we would have rectified our mistake. The second comment came after he asked if we'd like bags. We politely confirmed we would, to which he sighed aloud and said, "Of course". At this point my partner and I were looking at the other guests in line, unsure of what we had done to anger this man. When he fumbled our apples and asked if we wanted them in the bag, I said "whatever would be quickest for you", now trying to leave in a hurry. He replied with a snark "We're WAY past that point now." We hurriedly took our receipt and practically ran out of the store, bewildered at the aggressive interaction we just endured. Since the pandemic started, I've been using Doordash quite a bit from Smart and Final Extra, like once every two weeks or so. I did finally shopped in-person once and I found the store clean, with produce well-organized and fresh. The real reason I like Smart and Final is that many of my favorite items are far less expensive than nearby Safeway: * Horizons DHA Whole Milk for the kiddo - normally under $5/half gallon * Crystal Geyser Bottled Water - my favorite, usually $1 to $1.35/gallon * Bundaberg Diet Ginger Beer - under $7 for 4-pack. * Its It Ice Cream Sandwiches - You can get 3-packs of Mint or Vanilla for under $4, or a 12-pack vanilla for $10 read more

I think that on purpose they put the wrong label in view of a product. If you don't pay attention, you'll be hit at the register like I was. The unfriendly cashier told me to go back and take a picture of what I was talking about and here I am in a motorized disabled cart speeding around the store to take a picture and sure enough another shopper said " they do this on purpose," and she pointed that the price did not match the raspberrlies but rather blackberries. Another cashier came said "well I'll let you have one at 2.99 price but you have to pay 4.99 for the second one fine but when I left looking at my receipt, the original 499 twice still appeared and was not removed. I asked to speak to a manager who did not look the part nor behave like a manager as in "customers always right". Very unpleasant environment.Quite frustrating. read more

I've recently started shopping at this Smart & Final and have found some great deals. The Foster Farms chicken on sale is cheaper than Costco. The produce also has great deals. We get a variety from salad and avocados to Kent mangoes. I also like the frozen scallops. I prefer going through the cashier who seems like a manager. She's super patient. The downside is that the aisles can be narrow but i don't go down all the aisles now that I know the store better. i also prefer Danville to the other locations but wish they still had a location in Dublin. read more

Ok last straw, I'm done. I've tried to be patient and understanding, but the number of times I've gone in here at 5:30pm - prime dinner shopping hour, and seen only TWO check stands open, with looooong lines, is more than I can handle. It's been like this for years. You can see the frustration on people's faces. The only thing keeping people coming here is the relative lack of competition, but I will now drive an extra 5-7 minutes to a competitor in order to not be insulted by management that apparently couldn't give a damn. Really great prices, especially found in all the bay area. I actually feel SMART to shop here. In the old days, S&F was mainly where businesses shopped -- large size goods / commercial grade and packaging. Today, they still have LARGE, but also more normal size for the average consumer. Most importantly, you don't need a membership / resale # to shop here any longer. You won't find a butcher here, but they do have freshly packaged meat. Lots of fresh produce, frozen and refrigerated goods, canned goods, paper goods, and a ton of bottled and packaged items. They even have BOOZE: fine liquors, wine, and beer -- lots of it, actually! Tips: ==== * Bring your own COLD storage bags for the gallons of ice cream you will buy (oh yes you will). The lines may only be 2-7 deep, but your ice cream will melt by the time you get thru and home. This Smart & Final is okay... Doesn't have all the same items as some of the others. Nice layout. Good produce. Good liquor selection. Like other Smart & Final's LINES! and not enough help. The cashier had a problem with bar codes and instead of looking up the item or putting the # of the bar code in, he asked the customers to go grab another item... therefore holding up the LINE even more! Stopped in here to get some basic groceries. Their prices are pretty cheap for the bay area. I got a 10 quart pot to make seafood boil for only $10.99! Everything was pretty organized and easy to find. Overall an okay place to get some necessities. read more

I'm always torn when I go to this store. On one hand, I like the fact that they have some items that you can't find elsewhere. On the other hand, the checkout process... sucks. They seem to always be shorthanded, and I mean always. It's not just a pandemic related excuse. Today there were two checkstands open and probably a total of 18 to 20 people waiting to check out. I always shop here. I didn't realized I haven't written a review. When I moved to this area, I was so excited to find out a Smart and Final opened nearby in Danville! I don't feel like this community really cares for Danville because when I come to Smart and Final, I don't find it crowded like Sprouts and Safeway or busy like Whole Foods. There's always lots of parking spots and parking isn't ever an issue for me. Smart and Final reminds me of a place where businesses come and bulk items. They sell a lot of large items for decent price. If you wanted restaurant style containers or sauce containers, this is your place. It has what restaurants need. I normally come here for any sales I see in the ads. I think the produce can be hit and miss. So far, I have had mostly positive experiences with the produce. I hope this Smart and Final doesn't close down because I know the previous business at this same location closed down, I think? I wasn't here when it happened. This location is somewhat awkward, it's just off the freeway so its convenient but I am not sure how convenient it is for people that live in Danville. Our first time visiting this grocery store and it will be the last. Everyone seemed minding their own business and never acknowledged us as customers. Cold cashier and expensive items with no good quality to justify them. Two items were spoiled with mold and we could only realize it once we opened the packages at home. Smart & Final Extra! is an interesting store to shop in. -long aisles so if u not familiar with store, takes awhile to find items. -checkout isn't that quick, few checkout lines open -not much in bottled microbrews, mostly 6 paks or larger. wine selection, didn't browse yet -no need for "card" for specials. though there may be minimums. buys: sapporo, $2.51 -favorite lager from olde days, seldom drink it anymores. takeouts: -one driveway isn't big enough to allow one car to enter and one car to exit at same time, been that way for decades. it's the driveway closest to S & F. read more

Brand new Smart & Final store just opened up in Danville. It took over a grocery location that has had so many different chains, Albertsons, Lucky and the latest Fresh Choice. The new Smart & Final however is completely redone and is beautiful new store . I went on their Grand Opening and the store is fully stocked. They also sell beer, wine and liquor. The location great for the Danville and San Ramon residents and no longer have to go to Pleasanton S&F anymore. read more

Brand new pseudo-wholesale style market. They offer bulk quantities of some products like paper goods and you can still find single food items. Some offerings include produce, rotisserie chicken, dairy, baked goods, snacks, whiffle ball and bat, industrial style cookware, and candy. They have some restaurant supplies too. Prices on some items are quite competitive. Packaged herbs $1.99. Gilroy garlic about $2.99/small bag. If you don't have a Costco membership this is a good place to one stop shop for booze and soft drinks. Some seasonal items sold out front. This week it was plants and melons. Checkers were efficient enough and had cheery attitudes. I hope they keep it up after grand opening. read more

Like this store. I like going to this store. The location is good - just off the freeway. The people who work here are great. They are always helpful. The prices are good (although you have be a little careful on what you buy). But I give it four stars not five because you can't really go there on Sunday. On Sunday a lot of shelves are empty and they don't restock until Monday. This maybe a left over distribution chain thing left over from Covid and when Gavin Newsom sought to destroy the state economy, but on Sunday the shelves are empty. Friday is good. read more

Everytime I go to this store, they overcharge me on a few items, but that's not even the problem. I went with my daughters and they picked out a couple of snacks near the checkout. We went to pay, I noticed one item was marginally overcharged by $1 or so. I asked the cashier (Asian lady with painted eyebrows) and she started getting defensive. I showed her the price tag since it was literally right next to her and she ripped the price tag off and said no, that's another item. I was like, fine whatever, I'll still take it. Then the store manager walks by and my cashier stopped her and said, this lady wants to buy this candy and wants us to change the price. And the manager gave her and look and said "Why don't you give it to her?" and the manager changed the price for me. I said "No I didn't ask to change the price, I was pointing out that your price sign is wrong." I said this several times and the Asian lady ignored me-- in fact she appeared to ignore everything I said to her. I thought maybe she didn't understand English and said so. Then she got mad and said "I've lived here 30 years and you are just cheap." So rude! I am not racist or anything, in fact I am Asian myself, I truly thought this lady did not understand what I am saying. I've been to a lot of Asian grocery stores where cashier didn't speak much English which was fine. I've never seen such horrible attitude. read more

The blueberries spoil too quickly, and I've bought them on several occasions before moving on to Sprouts or Safeway despite the higher prices. Everything else is good though. Haven't had problems with other produce though. Cheap prices and usually not too long of a line here. Check the expiration dates though. (This entire incident is captured on store's own security cameras and there is a police report on file) Watch your wallets and purses when shopping at this smart and final!!! No it's not outsiders who will steal your valuables but the store managers, Marcey in collaboration with Sam. Yes that's right! Store's own security cameras don't lie. I happened to drop my wallet at this store after I paid for my grocery. An honest citizen found the wallet and without looking at it, he returned and directly handed to Marcey one of the manager at this store. Marcey is captured on cameras taking my wallet to two different locations invisible to store cameras and she tampered with it. I stopped by the store and I was handed an empty wallet where my birth certificate, a sentimental coin and some cash were missing. I spoke to general manager Sam about this incident and Same told me "Danville is a city full of theft and crimes." "Event if you call the police to file a report, they will tell you, you're an idiot too, because they don't have time to investigate some idiot who lost his wallet." Although Sam knew that I was recording him, but he still kept calling me and my friend an idiot for asking about a lost wallet. So, per a customer advise who briefly witnessed the incident, I called the police and told them exactly what Sam said. Next thing I know, three officers from Danville PD showed up and they requested Sam to show them the security cameras' footage. At this point I could see the reaction on Sam's face because he just found out who is the the real idiot. The officers viewed the videos and and said there are two incidents where Marcey takes your wallet and walks to locations invisible to cameras. Unfortunately we can not charge her with anything despite the fact she made the wrong moves because you have no proof of what was in your wallet and what she took from it. Anyway, I called the corporate office and spoke to the district manager Mike and informed him of that I have recordings of Sam as well as a witnesses who heard Sam calling me idiot. Mike promised to investigate the matter and he called me back with an apology on Sam's behalf and said the matter is going to be dealt with the company's HR. I have and will continue to share this review and the video recording of this incident on some Danville city social media pages until I see proper action is taken. Special thanks to Danville PD for taking this matter very seriously, the officers looked at the video footage for over an hour and questioned Sam looked around the store together with Sam. Hi , my name is Christopher G and I was in the store earlier today at the checkout and I overheard the store manager talking to an employee and telling her that she's not to bag customers food. I was appalled when I heard the manner in which he talked to her. He wasn't loud but he was basically putting her down in front of the customers. The lines have always been long there and she has bagged my food before and never had problems with her. She's always polite and courteous. I've been in 3 times and have been impressed by the layout, selections and prices. Aside from normal check out, hadn't had any issues. Today, not so much I bought a managers special for 10 thin cut pork chops. Got home to prep to freeze some individually only to pop the seal and be met with the delightful stench of rotten meat. Ok, stuff happens so back to the store I go. First girl helps me and can smell it from a few feet away. I feel her commiserating with me. She starts the process but needs a mgrs approval. Here comes "Mark" (pretty sure that was his name). I tell him briefly what happened and he responds "no worries" then he hands my refund. Hmmm. "No worries"....Like you're doing me some favor in refunding rotten meat purchased 30 mins earlier? Shouldn't the response be "so sorry about that, we will check the rest of the packages" or " sorry you had to drive back here" or "sorry about that stench" or perhaps dozens of others. Nope, I get "no worries". All businesses make mistakes. It's how they resolve them that really tells you what kind of organization you are dealing with. Girl gets an A for being real and sympathetic. Last time I said I wouldn't be back but I figured I would give 1 more time. Again, I'm in a long line, after 5 calls for a backup cashier, the girl came up and got me out of line, to move me to her line, just to have anyone and everyone else go before me. So even though I was 5 back in first line, everyone from that line left the store before me because she let others come in front of me in the new line. Everyone in all lines were upset and making fun of her awful way of pulling us out of our original lines to put us at the back of a new line. Then she continued to complain to the person in front of me that management is changes and she's scared and not happy. Clearly something has changed and with change, I will change to a new store. This place carries everything a nice supermarket carries and it is laid out better than most of them also. I expected low end items in bulk but was pleasantly surprised they had organic, fresh and relevant food for lower pricing than other markets. But I have been to other Smart & Final stores and this one is by far the nicest one ever made so the 5 stars is only for this store and not a blanket rating for all S&F stores. read more

After shopping mostly at Safeway and sometimes CostCo (for a family of six) I am now a big fan of Smart & Final because: * More conveniently located (and better parking) than CostCo * Competitive pricing relative to Safeway * Clean, well organized store * Larger size bulk packaging for many products * Nice produce * Helpful staff I will probably start using S&F as my "go to" option for more items I buy during the week. read more

I been going to this location for 2 years for a business shopping us i told them I have all my recipes purchases . Today they refused to serve us ,as i don't have my business number I send one of my employees there . I called them to talk with the lady who didn't care . This place is super convenient right off highway 680. It was definitely a blessing for the locals since we are deprived of grocery stores. You can find most ingredients needed here. The produce is not as fresh as I would like. This location has lines all the time. Hiring more employees and have managers on site to help assist the trainees and cashiers would be nice. read more
