Occasion: Buying Produce Probably one of the better Safeway's I've ever been to. It's very clean, but maybe that's because of Bellevue Standards? Will need to re-evaluate , because for the first time in a very long time I handpicked everything fresh and I was in a rush! Maybe I was that lucky that I handpicked everything or maybe they actually had a complete robust selection of fresh produce. Great job today, Safeway! read more

This is my regular grocery store. I love how clean the store is and they have a good selection of organic vegetables, healthy drinks and excellent, excellent wine selection. I have found the wine people to be rather informed on the wines they have as well as many they do not. I love it when folks know what they are talking about. read more

It was total, and I mean TOTAL chaos when I stopped in. I'm not sure why, it was around 4 on Saturday, but for some reason, there were kids running amok, and the volume of the store was really loud. I have a suspicion the noise might be a byproduct of the apartments above the store, but that's just total speculation. I've been shopping at different places over the last few years, Metropolitan Market, Whole Foods, QFC, etc, and after this experience, Safeway didn't show me why it should join the rotation. read more

This company has become so cheap when it comes to customer service! Not even midnight and not human interactions! (Cashiers)They have you doing your own check out! Just to save on labor! I'm gonna have to do my shopping at QFC instead, read more

So I picked up some fabulous organic produce at WF last night but still needed some basics to round out my food supply. I saw this location and heard it was the local place to try. I am in heaven as the 'lucerne' brand of cheese, yogurt, & milk is not sold where I am from and safeway delivered it to me like a gift from, well you know where...yea me. I am sitting here baffled at which yogurt to try first bartlett pear, goji apple, or passion orange guava...help. Good chain, great location! read more

This is my new favorite Safeway on the Eastside and luckily it is very close to my gym. It is definitely the biggest Safeway I've been to and the cleanest. The floral, deli, and wine departments are very nice and have a great selection compared to other stores in the area. The sandwiches, sushi, and deli lunches are great if you forget to pack a lunch for work. You can even grind your own nut butter at this store. My only complaint is that I'm noticing a trend where grocery stores are relying on us to use the self-checkouts which means they only have one or two cashiers. This can be inconvenient because if you use reusable bags or purchase manager specials, an employee has to come approve it at the self-checkout kiosks. Please change this! I find it better to park in the garage beneath the store then deal with hassle of maneuvering through the pedestrian traffic at the entrance of the store. You can end up waiting in your car for awhile. read more

This place rocks! It's been scaled up to include a Starbucks, bigger deli, and huge wine selection with computerized wine selector. Did I mention that it has a nut bar containing different varieties of nuts? Yes, the new Safeway of Bellevue has arrived for upscale shoppers; however, the prices on sale items aren't too bad. Kudos! It's nice getting an Americano at the Starbucks inside and watching some TV on a big 42" LCD or browsing some magazines before wondering around the store to see if there are any goodies to eat. read more

This is one of the nicest Safeway stores I've ever set foot in. Their produce section is so neat and organized. If you've ever watched MTV Cribs and noticed how almost everyone's fridge is organized by brand and type of drink/food, well, that's how it looks here but with fruit and vegetables. The frozen foods section is easy to navigate. Unlike most Safeways that have two or three aisles of frozen stuff, it's just one long aisle with everything. There is also a natural/organic food section but it's probably only about 1/3 the size of the frozen section. My main reason for coming here so often is lunch. Whether you're getting a fresh sandwich made, making your own salad, or getting something from the deli counter, everything is affordable and tasty. For Bellevue, it's pretty difficult to find a filling lunch for under $6-$7 but it's normal here. There is a $6 deal that gives you one hot/cold entree plus two sides. That type of lunch is at least $10-$12 anywhere else. Service is also friendly and helpful. read more

Sherwoodpark Mall safeway As a customer I was very disappointed with this store. Poorly stocked, very crowed rows and lightning is darker than say sobeys read more

Good location, if annoying parking (garage). Large, bright safeway with fair produce and impressive wine sections. The specials are quite good and the gelato bar is a nice addition. I would consider giving this place 4 stars if it weren't for the... LACK OF A PROPER DELI. Still with the pre-sliced meat slapped down onto the scale? Awful! That's a bit of a deal-breaker with me. Sorry Safeway but I won't be here when there are better options close by. read more

This is like the Walmart of Safeways, but bigger!

Our usual grocery shopping place. Decent prices and good quality.

It's a nicer Safeway than some I've been to. The natural foods selection could be bigger, but it's definitely improved since the last time I was there. But be weary of the check-out lines. It can be sooo long and slow, especially if you go after work. I swear every time I go in there, they've only opened up two checkout lines, and everyone is standing in the middle of the store, waiting in line. read more

This Safeway is one of the nice Safeways. It's an average grocery store, what do you expect. Safeway has lots of groceries and stuff to buy that's essential. The inside is cleaner than the other stores I've been too, staff are pretty nice and helpful, fine service, would recommend. read more

I pretty much go to Safeway 5x a week, and I have never, in 9 months, seen more than 4 clerks working the checkout. And about 3/4 of the time, one of the self-checkouts is being used by some moron who needs help from a cashier. But hey, it's cheap, right? read more

Edit: Dutch Crunch rolls did not come to Bellevue. Jackasses. Reverting my rating back down to 3 stars because they did not deliver on their promise. Safeway is a good, better-than-average grocery store. But it also doesn't really have much in the way of variety despite it's size. I'll continue to stop here for convenience because it's on my walk home, but QFC or Whole Foods are the go-to locations when I want anything other than a staple. The vegetable section of Safeway is limited - they get shipments of Chinese and Japanese eggplants every 2-3 weeks. The hell? They also don't respect my desire to eat shrimp that has not basked in the filth-ridden waters of a Thai shrimp farm, or to eat salmon that has not been artificially-colored. The layout is nice, though, and things are easy to find and sometimes they have good prices. ----- Original: DUTCH CRUNCH IS COMING TO BELLEVUE! Everyone else has described all the fancy stuff in this store, and that's fine, but none of that is for me. Twice they have run out of chocolate chunk cookies when I wanted them, and the one time I am inspired to clean, they are out of mop refill things. However, this place is all about customer service, and that is something I've found to be pretty rare. I chatted up the man at the bakery, Bob D, while I was having my "artisan caramelized onion and roasted garlic bread" machine-sliced. "Hey Bob, I've been here 2 and a half years and I can't find dutch crunch rolls anywhere. I walk into a California Safeway and they are everywhere. Bring them to me!" "Sure, I don't know what that is but let me write down your request and I'll see about it with the bakery manager. If you leave your phone number, we'll give you a call" A month passes and I am once again resigned to a world without dutch crunch when the phone rings, and it's Bob. They are bringing dutch crunch bread and sandwich rolls to this location as a pilot in November! So, please voice your support for dutch crunch, and help me live a happier life of sandwich bliss. read more

The upgraded Safeway looked at first glance appealingly dark and edgy. After trying it a few times, I've gone back to the more convenient and friendly QFC nearby, or the Whole Foods. Parking has some odd entrances and driving circuits, and crosses pedestrians' paths nearly every time in an out, a minor but persistent annoyance. People seem in a hurry. Some typical irritations from my last visit - yet another interview of perspective employees at the outdoor table (much turnover?), the nut mix was stale, where's the fancy chocolate section?, LeBron on TV in the Starbucks dissing Cleveland. Bellevue has the flagship QFC up the street, which is where you'll find me. read more

This review is for the Starbucks kiosk in the Safeway at 4th and Bellevue Way in Bellevue. The manager there, David, is super professional, friendly and accommodating. There was a major snow storm, and this was the only Starbucks open in the area. All the others choked, but David showed up and opened the store all by himself. He's great, makes an excellent drink, and keeps the kiosk clean, neat and well stocked. I needed my coffee, couldn't drive because Bellevue can't scrape the streets in a timely manner, and nobody else nearby showed up. read more

The service is great. But the prices on cigarettes are really high !! Just cause it's in downtown bellevue. But, if you go across the street to rite aid there almost $3.00 cheaper. Hmmmm. The best part if this place is I live upstairs so it takes me 2 minutes to get there from my place. I still rent movies from there. Tuesdays they release the new movies. They lose two stars for the cigarettes so if you don't smoke then add two more stars. read more

Whenever I am in need, Safeway has always been there :D This is one of the best supermarkets in Bellevue. Though it does not carry electronics or clothing, all food-related items are aplenty. Their wine collection is amazing. Vegetables/Fruits are fresh. We like the meat too. We have tried the chicken/salmon and prawns here and have had no problems. read more

So I went to Safeway today and had a question about an item and I asked this tall and fair lady who stands next to the self-check out counter. Guess what she answers.."I don't know... For the second time I've stopped in to grab a few things and try to grab some items at the deli. The first time I was seen and ignored until I asked for help and ended up only ordering one item cause it took so long and the guy slapped my deli meat in a bag sloppily not stacked. Second time today I went in again, no one in sight until someone peaked over and again I had to asked to be helped. This time just needed some cheese sliced for burgers. Easy enough right? Wrong... dude asked twice what I wanted and when he finally had it in his hands he wasn't sure what to do with it. I walked away pissed and still needing cheese. I'm not sure why there is a deli department at this location as it is useless. read more

Customer service is bad especially at the Deli counter in the late afternoon. The guy working at the Deli counter today at 6:20pm is the rudest Safeway worker I have ever encountered. He does not greet you, he does not smile, his face is long, he snarls and barks when you ask him a question. This is the second time I had encountered this same rude Deli counter guy. It seems he has the afternoon/evening shift at the Deli counter most days. This guy lets his customers know that he is not happy to serve them. It is a very unpleasant experience for me today. Food selection wise, it is not bad, salad bar is fresh and well stocked. I just hope there will be a different Deli guy the next time I am there read more

This is the best Safeway I've ever been to. It's big, lots of products, friendly staff. The flowers are amazing. Seriously, I've bought roses from other Safeway stores but this store's roses last for a long time!! Not sure who they get their roses from, but they're amazing. I bought a dozen 2 toned roses last week and they're still gorgeous with no signs of fading. read more

Safeway always has great deals for your grocery needs. The store is aesthetically pleasing you can find everything you need. Depending on the time of day, it is not crowded. They have the self-checkout stands for those buying a couple things. The parking can be a hassle when it gets busy, but they do have underground parking as well. There is a Starbucks inside, should you need caffeine to get you through your shopping. All in all, I tend to go to Safeway for the ease of use and the coupon deals they always have going on. read more

I stopped at this store for a few items during my trip. I don't typically review grocery stores, but felt that one was warranted due to their AWESOME in store made tortilla chips and guacamole. Good lord, it's good! Like reallygoodtexmexrestaurantgood. My super picky 5 year old nephew said "those chips are yummy", and I agree. It's worth a trip. Personally, I love Chipotle's chips and guac, and I think Safeway's chips are better, and the guac is probably slightly better than Chipotle's. On a separate note, parking was a breeze and there were plenty of registers open to get in and out. read more

Very upsetting that I stop at this Safeway at 6:40am to pick up a container of Almond Milk. I'm in the ONLY open line at 6:45 and not out of there until 6:57. 8 people in line...most of us with one or two items, on our way to work but waiting for those with a cart full to cash out. When I say the cashier that they need another line open he looks straight at me, with zero expression, and says "not at this time of the morning". What has happened to customer service!!!! read more

What a sad excuse of a chain grocery store. This safeway is lucky that I am consolidating all my bad experiences into 1 yelp review because I feel that if I wrote an entry for every bad experience I've had with them their average rating would simply never recover. 1. I bought a filet of what I thought was decent fish. I drove back home and kept wondering what this one faint odor was from my bag. I decide to season my fish, but as soon as I open my fish it just has a HORRID, PUTRID smell. Really it was palpable and I FELT the smell kind of smack me across the face. I put the fish back in my now radioactive bag and race over to the safeway. Thank God the same clerk was there as she returned my purchase, but really why was this piece of fish there in the first place? REALLY, SAFEWAY? 2. It is 10PM and I want to buy a birthday fifth of patron which is understandably in a locked cabinet. I ask 2 people to open it up but they tell me that only 1 person on the shift has the keys to open up the liquor cabinet, the shift manager in the front. The manager is just standing at the front just watching the clerk do her job. I ask the lady if she could open up the cabinet for me. " its 10'o clock" she says with a patronizing and judgmental tone that really irks me... " Yeah but I just want to buy it for my friend's birthday..." " Yeah sorry but I'm the only one with the keys and I need to do my job up here." This irks me so much because she is really NOT DOING ANYTHING. REALLY LADY? YOU CAN"T MOVE YOUR LAZY SELF NOT 40 FEET just so you can open the cabinet for a SALE?! REALLY?! After trying to reason with the woman that clearly had the IQ of a 5 year old, I decided to go to QFC to buy my alch. I've never come here ever since. EVEN THOUGH THE QFC IS FURTHER, I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN TO THIS SAFEWAY RUN BY MORONS. Really, if I won some competition and I got like a $1000 gift certificate to safeway I would rip it up, frame it, and give it to QFC for some clever marketing (this guy would rather pay to shop here than use a free gift to safeway). read more

I had a very bad experience at the Safeway in Bellevue, WA. I was using the self-service checkout. I needed help because of a coupon. The self-service check-out attendant was chatting to someone at the customer service while me and someone else at another till were waiting. Finally, she came over. After she scanned my item, she was using her staff card to insert it in the coupon slot. I started telling her that she was inserting the wrong coupon in the slot. And she started telling me off and saying that I should not tell her how to do her job. I told her that she was being rude and she started being sarcastic and continued being rude. I have being shopping at this Safeway for 10 years. No more. I am going to go to QFC. I checked her namebadge and it was LaNita or something like that. EXTREMELY RUDE PERSON. read more

As a mom of two young kids, I run all my errands while they're at school. Grocery shopping at this Safeway seems to get worse every single time. Not enough cashiers no matter what time of day. Only one in the mornings, although, self check out is available. I have had enough of the the stares from other customers when I have a full cart of groceries and must "hold up" the line for those who have just a handful of items. Last week, I stopped by around 9:30am. Many empty shelves and usual items were unavailable. I still managed to have a full cart and the dreaded checkout with people huffing and puffing behind me (I don't blame them, really) also, a senior level employee was bad mouthing a manager to a cashier...left bad taste in my mouth...I'll shop elsewhere in the future. read more

oh safeway . . . you so crazy! all of a sudden you think you're a whole foods! anyhow, i was actually hesitant to try the new swanky safeway in downtown bellevue. the old one with the bow like roof has a soft spot in my heart . . .well really all old grungy grocery stores do. i shed a tear when the greenlake albertsons closed. really, i did. so finally, out of desperation for salsa and convenience, i broke down and checked this one out. my biggest concern was parking (i really don't like parking garages). fortunately there was plenty of parking not completely in the garage part and while much of it was underground, there was no fear of me losing my car (fear 1) and it didn't take me forever to get in and out of (fear 2). the produce section (where i attempt to spend most of my money these days) was awesome. huge and full of fun fruits and veggies - all looking mighty fresh and tasty. i will complain about one thing though . . . the damn salsa!! it was the whole the whole reason i went there, and the salsa selection is pitiful for such a huge glitzy grocery. note to safeway: no one likes your crappy safeway select brand salsa that takes up almost the entire section. and i can't believe i just yelped about a grocery store . . . this is what my life has come to. read more

I live above this Safeway, so it doesn't really get much better than that as far as location. In fact, I don't think I've been to any other grocery store since I moved here. It's safe to say I would probably be about 10lbs lighter if I didn't have this pantry/refrigerator/freezer downstairs. The staff is very friendly. The self-checkout lines close when it gets to be pretty late (I'm not sure exactly what time). They are only NOT open for 5 hours of the day. Sometimes they have wine tastings. The only thing I don't like here is the produce. It's hard to find fresh fruits and veggies...often I find things are moldy/rotten if you don't look carefully. So only 4 stars. read more

I used to loath this Safeway, but yesterday, saw some big changes. First, the cashier was fast, helpful, and actually did his job without snark, grief, distractions. Second, the bagger, Zach, bagged my groceries the right way! I was impressed, because it's been years since a bagger (usually the cashier) put my frozen foods together, fruit together, dry goods together, and taking extra care with bread, soft fruits, and eggs. Zack, you're awesome! Third, they finally got the frosting on the cakes right. This location used to cut the buttercream frosting short on sugar, and it was disappointing every time. Seems they started following protocol again, and it's yummy! After 20 years of being a loyal Safeway shopper, I had given up last year, and switched to QFC. But now, I'll give Safeway another shot. (I should also mention that when I used the pharmacy here last year, they were wonderful) read more

The Starbucks kiosk has the worst service. The ladies are rude and short and don't look like they want to be there. The service here is shit. read more

Love the bakery with nice choice of breads and cakes. Deli is quite good. Overall, the store is nice and clean. Parking is easily available. Prices are fair. The Safeway app is really nice, because it gives customized deals. As for store personnel, Poli is the nicest person. He always goes out of the way to provide great customer service. Most other cashiers are nice and friendly. Be prepared for bad and rude behavior from Aziz, if you are 'lucky' enough to run into him. read more

The only reason why this location is a bit more attractive is because it is opened 24hr and cheaper than Freddy's. As far as selections, I think all produces and stocks are fine, expcet the clearance isle. There are a few times that I see broken and opened packages resold there for 50% less. Given that there is a significante loss in value, it might deemed to be a good deal, but as a business, they are bounded to run into losses, and shouldn't make it seem like a deal for the consumers - it's just a minor business ethics downside of the manager's falut. read more
