Safelite has done a TERRIBLE job with my car. I had the windshield replaced and a week later my entire rear view mirror fell off. Two more visits with services that weren't completed bc they didn't have the materials they needed. On the FOURTH visit they replaced the whole windshield unnecessarily and messed up some sensors and now after their visit today it's almost 10pm and we just noticed the dash lights won't turn off. They messed up the wiring and now my battery will be dead by morning when I'm supposed to leave at 5am for work. This is what they specialize in so I am appalled that this could be such a calamity of errors. I'm sick of rescheduling appointments, driving around with my rear view mirror dangling or missing and now I'll have a dead battery for work in the morning??? Get it together Safelite. I have used Safelite for many years for my auto glass needs. Driving on route 89 every day is a hazard. But after yesterday, I will not be going back to them. I had a chip in my windshield that I needed to get repaired. Went to Safelite, had the work done and left. On the way home, I can see sunlight reflecting from where the chip was. When I pulled over and checked, the chip was still there! The tech had obviously not used enough resin and it did not fill the chip. When I went back to them this morning, the guy tried to convince me that the chip repair was good EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS STILL A CHIP! I will not be going there again and I recommend that you don't either. read more

Despite my misgivings I decided to trust Safelite a second time with a windshield replacement. You see, I was burned a few years ago when they came to where I worked and replaced glass on my Ford Esacape and the upholstery around the glass was never the same. So after a rock hit my windshield and developed a growing crack on my Armada, I did a lot of looking at reviews of glass shops in my area. No shop really stood out and of all the shops, Safelite seemed to dominate the reviews (probably because they are so ubiquitous). So because my insurance seemed to prefer them and they had the best reviews and they had weekend hrs, I selected one that had the best reviews even though it wasn't the closest. I would eventually come to regret that decision. I drove the hr to go see them on a Saturday. They did the job quickly in about an hr and told me not to wash the car. Paid them extra to replace my wiper blades. I leave not noticing the grime on my upholstery thinking everything was great. About a week or so later, I'm driving home and hear a flapping sound outside my roof. I pull over to the side of the highway to find the frame around windshield separating from around the glass. I press it back in and go on home. I try to call Safelite and find myself in the fifth circle of phone tree hell that ultimately ends in my being hung up on. This was all during business hrs mind you. The next day I get a hold of someone and they tell me I have to drive back to do a "warranty claim". I drive back out that weekend and on the way there the frame pops out again flapping in the wind. They see it and tell me it wasn't installed properly and that I have to return after they've had a chance to repurchase the parts. They tape down the flapping frame and tell me I would get all new glass and a new frame. I make it back out again for the 3rd time and they replace only the frame (same glass with the same dead bugs stuck on). Despite all that, the best they could muster was a "Sorry about that." They couldn't even think to comp my wiper blades which showed me how much they really (don't) care. Another sucker sent by their insurance is soon to follow me. I'll let you guess if I would ever let them so much as clean my windshield. read more

The first company I contacted was Safelite. I explain that I was looking for OEM, Not aftermarket due to the Eyesight recalibration that was required, and asked if they might have OEM glass in stock, or could get it. The call center "checked" and said yes they have it! And their hooksett branch would instal in a few days. -spoiler- the call center apparently doesn't listen to details.... I arrive at Hooksett the day before and drop my car off. I ask the blonde haired lady with glasses if she could make sure the work order said OEM. She looks straight down at the work order, points to the word, and reads as I read it upside down: "aftermarket ". I tell her I'm worried that won't work as I've heard (and read online) that Subaru requires OEM glass. She tells me she will step into the shop and confirm, and comes back and tells me the shop says they have no problem with aftermarket glass on Subarus. Okay! You're the glass shop! You should know! So I get notification the next day that the recalibration of the Eyesight worked, and it was all set. I arrive to pick up my car, and the male clerk says "no high powered car washes for 48hrs... oh wait, we didn't do your glass, Nevermind" All they did was recalibrate the existing damaged glass, on a 2022 Subaru with less than 8,000 miles. I ask why they didn't do the glass as that was the main purpose for the appointment. He was immediately defensive and rude and said the work order said nothing about glass replacement. I tried to remain calm and remembered the clerk before pointed out "aftermarket ". I asked the guy if it said anything about aftermarket and he said no, there's no mention of aftermarket or glass replacement. I tell him that the day prior there was a work order that listed aftermarket glass, and the whole point of the appointment was if the glass replaced would be able to be recalibrated with the Eyesight as I thought OEM was required.... Again, a Safelite employee doesn't pay attention to detail, hears "OEM " and starts saying hey, I can get you OEM but it will take some time! I tell him I'm selling the car tomorrow (more so reiterating how much of a monkey wrench in my plans their mistake is) Nevermind the fact that I wasn't insisting on OEM, rather pointing out that the whole question of said appointment was the distortion of the GLASS, and if the new GLASS would allow the eyesight to be recalibrated. The guy told me the work order in front of him was the only piece of paper involving my car (lie), he would not investigate my claim at all, would not offer any help, would not check with the shop if they remember the question coming up the day before, his entire attitude was "here are your keys, go". I asked why they would recalibrate the Eyesight on existing glass and he said "I don't know!!" He was so resistant and defensive and unhelpful I told him I would just come back when the other clerk I worked with was working. I asked him to check with the shop, and I was scrolling through my phone for screen shots of the appointment reminder I got from Safelite and he... and I need to create another paragraph so emphasize: He stuck his finger in the air, twirled it in a circle and said "listen, we can go round in circles all day and it won't change anything ". I've never seen such rude customer service. He did that gesture at least twice, and the kicker is he distracted me from my phone, and I was one screenshot away from proof of "glass replacement and recalibration", but he was so SURE I was wrong, he wouldn't try to look into anything for me. What SHOULD have happened is, he should have checked with the shop, likely would have seen glass there for my car, apologized, brought my car right back in to start the work that was supposed to be done, and let me know the soonest availability of my car with completed glass, regardless of me selling the car the next day. Maybe I could have pushed the sale transaction if needed. But regardless, he was stubborn, gave me an attitude right from the beginning, refused to look into my claim any further and said "look I'm sorry but there nothing I can do for you" To which I said "you're clearly not sorry". He then told me to leave as he was calling the cops. Even this he could not get right, he didn't say leave OR I will call the cops, he said leave because I am calling the cops. I left the office and went back to my car to call my insurance and the Safelite call center, while I awaited the cops. My insurance and the Safelite call center confirmed the work requested was glass replacement, with the necessary Eyesight recalibration. read more

Bait & Switch: Service technician came to do a fill but upon a closer look, the crack was too big so windshield needed to be replaced. He called the office and got a quote for $600 and change. I spoke to the person giving the quote directly - $600 and change. This was all while we were standing in my driveway (Feb 21). We schedule an appointment for the following week. I was called the morning of appointment and was told the windshield that had come in had a crack in it so they had to order another one. Scheduled second appointment for the following week. I then got a call two days prior that the newly ordered windshield still hadn't come in. Four weeks later I got notice that the windshield was finally in and I made an appointment. The appointment showed a cost of $750 which is the amount of my insurance deductible. I called and was told the windshield that was ordered was an OEM and that's why it was well over twice the cost ($1700 vs $600). Not once did anyone ever tell me that the $600+ quote I got was for an after market windshield. And, never once did anyone call to ASK me if I was OK with them ordering an OEM that would end up costing me more (and going through my insurance). The person I spoke to on the phone explained the original quote was for after market and the reason they ordered an OEM was because they couldn't get/find an after market one. I fully understand there are supply chain issues. I also understand this is a new model car. What I take issue with, and what the person I spoke to REFUSED to acknowledge, is that I was quoted one thing, they ordered something different which would cost me more money AND NEVER CONSULTED ME. This person also claimed that none of what I told him was noted in my record so he was "in the dark". #1 - maybe your techs need to make better notes, #2 - be TRANSPARANT with your customers, #3 - auto repair 101 - you may never perform service, order parts, etc that will cost your customers more without consulting them and getting their approval, #4 - when there is an irate customer on the phone the most important thing to say to them is simply, SORRY. I understand what you're saying and I'm sorry for the miscommunication. Even if you don't agree, that frankly doesn't matter. I'm sorry goes a long way. This guy not only refused to say sorry but refused to acknowledge my VERY VALID point. Apologizing and showing a little bit of empathy will diffuse a problem instantly. And the fact that your technician didn't make accurate notes is just not my problem. read more

My insurance company set up the appointment at 2 PM at 2:30 they took my car in at 3 o'clock my car was done A rock hit my windshield earlier that day put about a quarter size crack in it and the technician who was absolutely fantastic (I'm sorry I don't have his name) fixed it and you can't even tell where the damage was. I called for a price on a replacement for he windshield of my 2014 GMC truck. I had to answer a god-awful number of prompts first but figured it would expedite things in the long run. Wrong! I then sat on hold for 15 minutes before a CSR came on the line. I then had to answer all of the same questions I had already entered. It turns out their price was more than twice that of every other glass shop. Then she told me there were other "fees" over the cost I was quoted. One of these "fees" was a disposal fee. I told her my city takes glass at no charge so I would take care of the disposal. She then said I couldn't do that because of federal regulations. No other company ever heard of this federally mandated fee. Wow! If this wasn't a nationally recognized chain I'd swear they were a scam. If I could give zero stars, I would! Safelite damaged my husbands truck (hood, dash, and door) while trying to replace his windshield. He reported the damage and was assured many times that they would take care of it. He presented an estimate for the repair, they acknowledged and agreed, and for 16 weeks "Dan The Manger" in Hooksett failed to respond to every inquiry for an update, as we never received payment for the damages. After many unreturned emails and phone calls, my husband decides to stop in to the Hooksett Safelite to inquire, and guess what...Dan, The Manager was on site and chose to send one of his helpers back out to the waiting area to inform him that, "he will not meet" with him today. He is told to call corporate. Yes he got mad. Yes he raised his voice. Yes he swore. But then asked for a name and number at corporate, and was told "we can't give you that either." So, the damage caused by a Safelite employee from Hooksett in September remains, and we got no help from Dan The Manager, who chose to send a helper to respond to my husband today rather than do his job as a manager and help resolve the issue. Now we deal with corporate, and we all know that goes. Final comments: Horrible leadership, poor example for the employees that witnessed the cowardly act of hiding from a dissatisfied customer, and save yourself the trouble by taking your business elsewhere. read more

I had a hit on my 2018 RAV4 windshield so Ryan came to my house. He was really nice and professional and explained that due to the fact that it has a front camera/radar, windshield needed to be replaced and camera calibrated at their premises. Drove there today and it was supposed to take 90 minutes at least so I brought my laptop to keep teleworking while waiting. Sanford was really professional and pleasing. He explained everything. Surprisingly I got my car back in 45 minutes. They did a great job, everything is perfect. Office personnel were great too. I recommend this place without any regrets. Keep it up. read more

The end product was good but it took two weeks to get it completed. This may have been partially out of their control but they are not great at communicating. I had my windshield replaced on 2/12/16. They installed a windshield with scratches on the inside right in the drivers line of vision. Left glue oozing out from behind the interior A pillars and the j strip molding not in place. They agreed to replace at my place of work on the 17th. The portsmouth location came and replaced the windshield for the second time. This time, the moldings were left popped up along the roofline , more glue oozing from behind the A pillars and damage to my paint on the A pillars. I called the corporate office . Got scheduled to go back to the hooksett location on the 26th. This time , I know have glue on my drivers seat, passage door , dash and a pillars. Still have glue oozing, a nice dent on the A pillar, moldings glued in in an attempt to fix the damage caused previously. Paint Chipped On Both exterior A pillars from them prying the moldings off. Damage to both moldings. I am at the end of my rope with these people. Now they want me to come back , a fourth time , to look at the damage? ? Avoid at all costs. If all you do is windshields and you can't get it right, get out of the business. I am still waiting for a response from corporate. read more

The guys working in the shop and the clerk were friendly and fast, but I have more to tell - I don't even know where to begin. I went to this place because of the glowing reviews, but it was a mistake. I had the front windshield replaced at this location about 6 months ago. The first glass had really bad distortion in the windshield, and it was giving me motion sickness whenever I got in the car. I've had front windshields replaced more than 6 times in my life, and I have never seen any of the glasses come close to the quality of the glass that they used. I mean, how could they not have noticed that distortion (or did they notice it and hope that I wouldn't?) Needless to say, I went straight back to the shop to ask for a different windshield. The distortion was confirmed by 3 of their employees. I was told that John the manager would call me, but no one ever called me for 9 days. I eventually called them to schedule an appointment, and asked them to use the best brand that they have. Things happen, no one's perfect, so I brushed it off as an honest mistake. I had the second windshield put in after about 45 minutes, but that one had distortion in the glass too. Two in a row? Really? I couldn't believe it. I began wondering if they purchase defective windshields from the companies at a much lower price, and charge the customers for the full price of the windshield. I live about 25 min from this location, so I asked them to do a mobile installation for the third windshield that they ordered for me. I met the guy at my apartment, and before I even looked at it, I asked the tech to check it first for distortions. Guess what? He said that the third windshield has distortions too (and I checked it myself to confirm that), and said that he won't even install it because the distortion was as bad as the ones present on the other windshields. Couldn't they have checked before they even came out to do the installation??? At this point, I gave up trying to get another glass from them. I asked the technician who came out to do the mobile installation to let the manager know what's going on, and that I would like to speak to him. He called the manager on the spot, talked to him for about 7 minutes while I was asking I can speak with him at that time. The manager told the tech to tell me that he is busy and that he would call me a few days later. He never ever called me, I called the place twice but John the manager was never there. I don't even know what his voice sounds like, because I never got to spoke with him. I am still stuck with a defective windshield and a bitter feeling about my experience at that place. I should mention that I also called the headquarters, but they weren't able to provide any solution except telling me to reschedule an appointment with them. read more

I had a cracked windshield in early 4/16. My insurance company (Progressive) suggested Safelite. I brought it there and it was done 30 minutes....GREAT. On the way home the adhesive had not set and the windshield was sliding down. I brought it back and they taped it up. Of course it rained that weekend and the shield leaked. It has leaked every rainstorm since. It is a good thing that we are in an extreme drought in NH otherwise I would not know how bad the repair is. Since then, I have brought it back 4X for re-installation or diagnosis. After the last time they said it was probably a coincidental blockage with my trucks drainage holes and wasn't their fault. Justin said he would keep replacing windshields under warranty but I don't have the time and can't afford to keep renting cars so I can work my low-wage temp job which I will lose. read more

I have had several interactions with safelite. To be fair, their technicians were polite. That is the only positive i have. To start a year ago my windsheild was broken. Despite their lovely commercials, no they would actually come out to me. I had to drive to them. Working nights and spending my awake time sitting in a repair shop is not fun. I had my wipers replaced as well but had to have them fixed by my mexhanic since they damaged them Fast forward to vandalism on my side window 6 months ago. Insurance company had me call them over protest. They did in fact come out after 4 days, (had to pay for a rental) unfortunately they brought the wrong size window. I had to extend the rental. (Out of pocket mind you) they rescheduled. Then came back out WITH THE SAME WRONG WINDOW. Fabulous. So now i have another huge crack in my windsheild. Should be covered by warranty i would think. It cracked sitting in my driveway far from the street on Monday night. Scheduled for today. NOPE!! THEY CANCELLED. The earliest they can replace it now is Tuesday. And they cannot tell me if it is covered under the warranty until then. I drive late at night to work. The best the guy could tell me was that the windshield won't actually shatter in my face if i get something on the road. No it will be one big piece in my lap. At 70mph. On the highway. At 1100 at night. So is it covered? We will never know. Granite State Glass was able to schedule me for tomoorow. Thumbs up to them. read more

A few days ago I had my Jeep windshield replaced by Mike from Safelite. The whole process was simplistic from scheduling on the website to the actual delivery and installation of the windshield. A few days in total, and about a 45 minute install at my home. The installer cleaned everything and took the time to undo a mistake by a previous installer rather than compounding matters. I would encourage others to use this service. It was more expensive to have them come to my home, but the time I saved not driving there and waiting around was worth it. My windshield was replace on Dec 18, 2012. They did a great job; it was raining that day and I didn't see any leaks. The guy working the office was informative and explained everything I needed to know. Less than a week later (Xmas eve) the car was totalled in a rear-end collision; so I can't speak to the long term quality of the replacement.
