Recently a rock hit my windshield and created a crazy circle crack that was the size of a soft ball at least! There was no way that could be patched, I had to get it the whole thing replaced unfortunately. I've seen a number for the commercials for this company so I figured I'd do the online quote. They accepted my insurance and they came to my home to do it! The technician was very nice, professional and explained to me what he was going to be doing, about how long it would be and went over with me what I needed to refrain from doing for the first 24 hours (basically don't wash the car). I feel like it was a great service and even if I didn't go through the insurance the cost wasn't bad and they had payment options with zero interest so I think that would definitely be valuable to people who have an unexpected expense like I just did. TLDR: Kellen the manager has the absolute worst customer service/management qualities I can describe. He verbally abused and threatened to fire his technician who was assisting me in getting my windshield replaced. They damaged my vehicle, broke my windshield, refused service claiming liability, offered to put myself and everyone on the road a risk with a BS repair (liability be damned), left with my vehicles old windshield broken on my neighbors yard and nothing on the vehicle, then left my vehicle where it is illegal to be operated on public roadways. First off this was a reschedule as the tech the day prior called out sick. No worries I guess, I'll just block out another day of mine to be available. Technician arrived promptly and was kind. He needed to reposition my vehicle to work on the window, proceeded to start the vehicle and held the ignition over and ground the starter against the fly wheel for a solid 10 seconds after it was started causing excessive wear on my starter, then burned out the rear tires on my driveway leaving marks and wear on brand new tires. I was willing to look past all that as accidents happen and he seemed new but friendly. When they removed my window they found far less than 24 square inches of surface rust (removable with steel wool) and the tech informed me that their bond wouldn't stick to rust. That fair! He told me if I was able to grind it to bare metal he would come back out and complete the job. I proceeded to remove the rust (with ease) and had it all ready to go within minutes after being shown the rust. The tech called his manager to confirm he was able to stay (as he was running a little behind) and the manager told me that because there was more than 24 square inches of rust damage (there was less than 13 square inches) they would not replace the windshield, despite me already removing it. This delay in the replacement process took less than 5 minutes start to finish. I informed him (or attempted to) that the rust was removed and there was no longer an issue. I also informed him that his tech was satisfied with the situation and was willing to replace the window at this point. They offered to tape on my old windshield back onto my vehicle (causing massive amounts of liability to me and anyone else on the road for having a non secured window flying off with any turn or brake). When I told him I couldn't drive my truck with no windshield he informed me that it was not illegal to drive with no windshield and I should get over it. The ego on him made him forget that his tech had removed my windshield wipers as well, making my vehicle illegal to be operated on Idaho roads under Idaho code. Kellen then told his tech and myself on speaker phone that if the tech put a windshield on my vehicle the tech would be fired. The manager then hung up the phone on me. This tech had already damaged my starter, my driveway, my old windshield, and my tires, but he was trying his best to work with me and make a satisfied customer. He had broken my old windshield more while taking it off (understandable as he was expecting to place a new one), and told me that he was not able to replace my windshield due to his managers threat. Respecting they did not want to do the work due to "liability" (despite trying to get me to drive a vehicle with a 30lb piece of glass not secured to the car in any way on public roads) I requested the tech call Kellen one more time to communicate to him that they needed to at least put the window back in the way they found it so I can get someone else to work on it and have my vehicle secured. The first works out of Kellen's mouth were "I could not have made myself more clear, we are not putting a windshield over rust that is larger than 24 square inches" (despite there now being no rust over any area). I attempted to tell him I only wanted him to leave the vehicle in the way he found it when he cut me off. Then my father came over my shoulder and informed him this could go to small claims court for their negligence and damage. Kellen then hung up the phone again. The tech then packed up his equipment and left, leaving my old windshield in my neighbors grass, broken far more than when they came to replace it, my windshield wipers under my truck and behind my tires, my vent guards scattered on my driveway, and all the screws placed on the dash of the vehicle with the hood left wide open. They not only damaged my vehicle, but they left it in a state that was wide open to the elements for damage, wide open to theft as there was no front windshield, parked illegally over the sidewalk, and despite Kellen's ignorant and egotistical statement, in a state of disrepair that it is illegal to be operated on public roads so I can't even take it to another shop. Absolute horrible customer service on behalf of Kellen. I feel bad for his technician as he was genuinely trying his best and yet he was threatened with termination. read more

Took them 42 minutes to discover I had aftermarket rims/tires - calls me and won't recalibrate due to liability. Had to make a bunch of calls to get recalibration scheduled somewhere else. Called back to tell them to proceed, and they said they could get it done in the afternoon. Asked why not earlier, as my appointment was at 10 - he said they had someone scheduled at 11. And then he has the balls to ask, "would you like to me to ask that customer to wait?" Last straw - I'm out. Poorly run outfit with terrible customer service. Second time trying to use these guys - never again. There are much better options in the Treasure Valley. read more

Just finished our appointment here and it was awesome. The check-in was so smooth they had the paperwork ready from the time we walked in the office to the time they started on the car was just a few minutes. The windshield looks great. Sofia, the technician was awesome and even cleaned all the other windows while waiting for the windshield repair to settle. Highly recommend this place. They quoted us about 30 to 45 minutes but it was done in 20 minutes. Also, it sent text message updates and even sent an automated receipt at the end via email. I used them in San Diego wanted to use them out here in Boise. First they give you a five hour window to show up for a three hour window repair. Then you wait all day and they don't show up till the end of the window and they expect me to stay home for seven hours. Then when you try to call to talk to someone, you can't get hold of anybody and you get stuck in their convoluted computer system. While waiting for my windshield replacement I was able to watch the wonderful workers converse with other customers, and I was very pleased to see such friendly workers who genuinely cared. Safelite came highly recommended by my family that had great service. So despite the cost being DOUBLE all the other windshield repair places around town, I chose to give them a shot. First I tried calling and you can't get through to a live person. My questions were what makes their process different from the others in town. So I made the appointment, talked to the lady at the front desk and she was so rude and told me she can't speak to other companies. I asked, very politely again, what is SAFELITES process & she said again she can't talk to other companies. So I cut my loses there and asked the technician the same question. He said he wasn't sure why they were so much higher, except since COVID everything has shot up. They do the chip repair (it was smaller than a dime). I go out to look at my windshield and it doesn't look like anything was done. I can still see the chip (and it's right in my line of sight). I go back in, talk to a different technician and his response is it won't spread anymore but it's cosmetic & if it bugs me I can just replace my window. I guess what I was looking for was better customer service. I could have paid half the cost and received the same results. So lesson learned, you don't always get what you pay for and I would much rather go to a business that has better customer service. I've had this store do 2 windshields for me-recently at my house & @ the store in 2021. In the shop was a long wait cause of the computer attached- but home visit was much easier for me. I've had many rock chips fixed on windshields and never had a problem with it cracking further. I got my windshield chip "fixed" from Safelite in March, and the chip has since spread. I understand that things happen, but if it's the exact same chip it would seem to me that the first repair was not successful. They have stated that they do not guarantee chip repairs, so I would have to just purchase a whole new windshield. Maybe I'm missing something but I've never had a chip repair not be successful. UPDATE: Business replied and addressed my concern, which is appreciated. However the issue still remains. I have had at least six or seven windshield chips replaced by companies and not one time have I had it spread. read more

My windshield was destroyed by a rogue goofball while driving past a golf course. Safelite didn't have any appointments for 2 weeks and only had drop off appointments available. I dropped off my vehicle at 9:00 am and it was ready about 3:00 pm. Having them come out is way more convenient, however, I understand why they are so busy and have a 2 week wait. 7.5 hours. I would have been better off having a mobile unit come to my home or office. The manager apologized and explained they got busy.......... hmmmmm......I dropped my car off 30 minutes before they suggested (9:30am). One vehicle was in a bay, the lot was empty. We ran errands, I got my hair cut @ 11am(1 hour for that) came home did the weekend laundry and household chores.. did yard work. At 2:08 pm I received a text that they were starting on my vehicle. I'm thinking, cool... should be ready in an hour... nope.. i wanted to start dinner-- it was 4:20 pm.. had to wait. I finally called the number associated to the store and while I was navigating the automation, the store called me. It was explained that they got busier than expected and they were still calibrating the windshield. I asked if the car was going to be finished by the time they close at 5pm and was told it only needed 10-15 minutes. I'm 10 minutes away so left immediately and got my car. Still a very empty lot and only one vehicle in a bay. I'm not sure why it took 7.75 hours when a mobile service would have been 30 minutes to maybe an hour. I can appreciate being busy, but I feel a first in, first out policy should be a standard with the way they schedule. The manager was extremely polite and I didn't raise a big fuss, but I deal with Less Scwab and Commercial tire which are extremely busy with tires, brakes and inspections and never had them take more than 3 hours for their services. I love my new windshield but this facility needs better scheduling practices. read more

My Jeep had a big rock hit my windshield which left a quarter size large chip. My insurance company referred me to this Safelite location. We made an appointment and what a smooth experience. Our technician, Aaron, was absolutely fantastic. He looked at the chip, explained what he could do, and what it would look like when he was finished (to ensure I was ok with that). 20 minutes later my windshield looked fantastic. I also had my wiper blades replaced and was able to get an old car wash sticker removed (this is no easy feat if you have never tried to remove one). Fantastic customer service and great work! I was referred to Safelite AutoGlass by my insurance when I needed to have the windshield replaced on my car. The appointment was scheduled for July 27th, 2021. A windshield was put on my car but Safelite was unable to calibrate it. I was told a replacement windshield was being ordered and would be installed August 11th, 2021. Today is September 13th, 2021 and the windshield has not been replaced. When I contact the Boise location to find out about the status of the new windshield the person I am referred to talk to is always at lunch no matter what time I call. Evidently they never return from lunch as I do not receive a call back. Eventually I was able to contact a Safelite employee, Jill Hopper, who stated she is a manager. She assured me she would resolve the issue. She even bothered to put her promise in writing as she sent an email stating this. I haven't heard back from her. Extremely poor customer service. I was not happy with my most recent experience. I've used them in the past in other areas. They came out to do the repair and the windshield got several large cracks throughout, they did not have the capability of replacing the windshield for a week, they billed my insurance $80 then wanted to charge me an additional $500 (my deductible) to replace the entire thing. I then took my car to another Boise company that was able to replace my windshield the same day for $264.00 cash price. read more
