I had a great experience at the Safelite on south I35 in Austin. I booked the appointment through my insurance app, but I have also used the online booking through their website, and it's equally as easy to use. My appointment was at 9:30, and I arrived at 9:08. The lobby is quiet, no loud TVs blaring. There is water and coffee available. I got a text at 10:08 saying they were starting service on my vehicle, and it was done by 10:45. A lot of people did arrive after me, and I know the wait time is usually 2.5 to 3 hours when they're busy, so that's what I was expecting anyways. Installation so far looks great. There was a little dirt mark on the fabric of the roof on the passenger side. I will update if there are any problems, but overall I am very pleased! read more

What followed was a cycle of complete non‑responsiveness: the "local" number always routed back to the call center, the call center couldn't reach anyone at the shop, emails to the manager went unanswered, and every attempt to get a real update resulted in the same scripted responses with zero actual action. In my experience, the lack of transparency, the unauthorized additional charge, and the inability to reach anyone who could resolve the issue reflect extremely poor customer service practices. I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Safelite. Safelite replaced my windshield on a Friday and placed tape on my vehicle as part of the installation. By the very next day, I could hear air coming through the windshield badly enough that it was obvious something was not right with the installation. Because I am not a windshield technician, I left the tape exactly where Safelite had placed it. I had no way of knowing whether removing it could affect the windshield or whether it was helping hold or protect something after the installation. I contacted Safelite and had them come back out to address the air leak from their original work. When the technician removed the tape that Safelite had applied, the tape pulled paint off my truck. Now Safelite is telling me that the paint damage is my responsibility because Nissan Frontiers allegedly have a known paint issue/class-action lawsuit. That explanation is unacceptable to me. The paint in the areas where Safelite placed the tape was in good condition before the windshield replacement. Safelite chose the tape, Safelite applied the tape, and the damage occurred when Safelite removed it while returning to correct an issue with their original installation. I understand that a company cannot be responsible for every pre-existing problem with a vehicle. However, I do not believe a customer should be expected to absorb the cost of damage caused during a service simply because the company can point to an alleged issue associated with that vehicle model. What makes this even more frustrating is that I was already having to deal with the inconvenience of having Safelite return because the windshield installation was allowing air into the vehicle. Instead of simply getting their original work corrected, I am now left with damaged paint and being told that repairing it is my responsibility. My vehicle did not arrive with missing paint in those areas. It left Safelite's service with missing paint. I expected Safelite to stand behind both its workmanship and any damage caused while performing or correcting that work. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend documenting and photographing your vehicle before having windshield work performed and being extremely cautious about any tape applied to painted surfaces. read more

I went to Safelite on Kramer Ln in Austin to have a very small chip repaired in my windshield. After the repair, the technician told me that the crack had spread during the repair due to the pressure applied. He assured me that he had taken care of it and that it should not be a problem. Unfortunately, about two weeks later, a large crack developed across the windshield, and I ended up needing the entire windshield replaced. Because of this experience, I chose not to return to Safelite for the replacement. I no longer felt comfortable trusting them with another windshield repair. I'm very disappointed that a small chip repair ultimately resulted in needing a full windshield replacement just two weeks later. They messed up my dashboard. When I arrived to pick it up, a chunk of paint was missing off my AMG. Immediately went back inside and told them, and honestly, they didn't seem shocked by it... they had it covered with an air freshener... it was almost like a " hoped you didn't see it" The lady at the front desk was nice enough to come out and entertain me by taking photos, she said that you order the part from Mercedes. I never heard back. I called 4-5x with no return phone call. I went to Safelite in Austin off I35 South to have a very small rock chip filled before it became a problem. I felt like they did it very quickly and within a month it was developing the little spider spread. when I called (which was a death spiral to try to actually get someone on the phone ) to use the warranty that they promote I was told that I would have to replace the windshield and pay the deductible. Extremely Disappointing Customer Service I chose Safelite because of its strong advertising and because my insurance company recommends them. Unfortunately, my first experience has been incredibly disappointing. My windshield replacement was scheduled for July 20 with an appointment window of 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. I work overnight 10-hour shifts, so staying awake during the day was already a significant inconvenience, but I made arrangements to be available. At approximately 2:30 p.m., I called to check on the technician's arrival because I had not received any updates. The representative I spoke with told me she was unable to reach the technician, Lloyd. After waiting longer without any communication, I called again around 4:30 p.m. This time, the representative contacted the shop and was informed that the technician had already left earlier in the day. What is unacceptable is that no one from Safelite contacted me to let me know my appointment would not be completed. I spent the entire day waiting for a service that was never going to happen. There was no phone call, text message, or email explaining the delay or cancellation. I find it hard to understand how a technician can leave for the day without a supervisor ensuring that affected customers are notified or reassigned. The representative offered to reschedule me for Saturday, July 25, but I was going to be out of town, so that was not an option. The entire situation caused me so much stress that my blood pressure increased, I developed a severe headache, and my husband had to take over handling the situation. The appointment was eventually rescheduled for Monday, July 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Unfortunately, this is yet another inconvenience because I will have to remain awake after finishing my overnight shift at 6:00 a.m., rather than getting the rest I need. This experience has shown a complete lack of communication and respect for my time. A simple phone call to let me know the appointment could not be completed would have made a significant difference. Instead, I lost an entire day's sleep and had to rearrange my schedule again. I have requested a callback from the local shop, and I hope someone takes responsibility for what happened. At this point, however, this has been an extremely frustrating experience, and unless Safelite makes a meaningful effort to address this situation, it will likely be my first and last time using their services. because of our insurance we took our model Y to Safelite repair off I 35 in Austin, Texas. Not only did they not align the car properly so that we have it calibrated for full self driving. They also damaged the front camera that's on the windshield by damaging it, stripping off the finish and it appears they tried to glue it back. Now they are forcing us to go back to show them the damage they want the card to drive the car again by themselves. And we are asking them to reimburse us for the money we're gonna have to spend at Tesla to get this fixed. Absolute terrible service. When you get a new car for the first time in your driving life and you get hit by a big ol' rock while just minding your business on IH 35 AND it creates a huuuuuge crack across windshield - what do you do? Well you sing the Safelite jingle you hear on the tv, radio, or social media and you give them a call and make an appointment. Scheduling an appointment on the website was easy as was finding the location closest to me to get quick service for my repair. I had several follow-up communication including email and text messages (if you opt in). I appreciated these reminders because it kept me on time and ready for my appointment. Upon walking in we were greeted immediately by staff and they got us all settled with our appointment. It was communicated to us, in email/texts, and in person that our service would be at least 2-3 hours. Knowing this ahead of time allowed me to plan to go to the nearby Mexican bakery and taqueria (taco spot) to eat breakfast and hang out. I even went back home since we were so close to home. Our service was professional and took less time than they had communicated with us. Within 2 hours we were already heading back to grab the car with our new windshield! We received a text message and a phone call from the shop to inform us that they were ready for us. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) windshield installed and has been fantastic after a week. The calibration on our font camera and lane/driving assist works flawlessly after the install too. We didn't roll out of there with any tape on our windshield either as I thought we would have to. Horrible experience replacing my truck windshield! First try, it leaked. Loud wind when driving. Had to wait a week for a tech to come back and remove the glass and he found a gap not sealed. Then this tech couldn't get the seal in correctly. It was sticking out on the driver side. Had to wait a week for another tech to come and bring the correct seal. 3rd tech came and discovered the wipers had been put on backwards from the previous tech and there was black sealant left on the hood. 4th time they finally installed it correctly but management refused to do anything about the black sealant on my paint. To make the long short. Went to safelite to replace my rear glass last year in September-October and they managed to unplug my side curtain airbag and damage/take wires from the car causing the rear defroster to not work. The Long: In September of 2024 I accidently dropped the gas strut on my car onto the rear glass and caused a large crack that went across the entire surface. I decided to go to the dealership but they were still several weeks out so I went to safelite as it was recommended by some some friends. The price was competitive and the timeline was far better than the dealership so It was a good start but things went downhill quick! First visit was a bust ... literally as the apparently the tech broke the replacement rear glass so the job ended up not being done. After waiting another week and wasting 20 dollars on ubering to the location they finally replaced the rear glass but to my surprise an airbag error popped up on the screen. I went in right away and was told it would reset after driving the car a few miles. It DID NOT. Multiple visits were scheduled again to fix the airbag issue. They finally discovered that during the visit where the panel was replaced the techs in question managed to unplug the airbag and jam the cable down in part of the trim where it couldn't be found. As a nice bonus on this mess the rear glass that I received had waves in it which needed another replacement panel luckily this time a oem panel. Moving forward a few months I thought everything was fine until a few days ago (June 5th) when I in maintenance mode and saw a rear defroster error message. I decided to explore the area and was shocked when I saw the two harness that were suppose to connect the rear defroster to the rest of the car were missing and a part of the radio tuner had its tab bent. I gave safelite multiple opportunities to rectify the issue and at every turn things got worse. The fact they have techs that are willing to play it fast and loose and unplug critical safety systems like airbags is insane. I would go elsewhere if you need to replace glass unless you want a multiple issues popping up down the line. read more

Not only did they install the back windshield improperly the first time causing water to come into my vehicle, the second time they fixed my front windshield and the tape ripped off my paint. I was told to come in for a "warranty" appointment to look at the tape and was told that there was nothing they could do. The technician Michael D. said he instructed to remove the tape after 30 minutes but that is 100% false as it was pouring rain that day and my vehicle wasn't even in my possession until 430 pm that day after being notified the second repair was done at 4 pm. I also have 3 scuff marks on the window that happened when they had to reinstall the window because it wasn't done right the first time. I was told by multiple Safelite customer service reps that I would be reimbursed through their so-called "warranty" system. That was over a month ago. Since then? Crickets. I've been bounced around, given the runaround, and lied to--repeatedly. No check. No confirmation. No accountability. Two stars because they will come to you and booking online was relatively easy. The chip in my windshield was directly in my line of sight. In error, I assumed that if the chip could not be repaired or was not able to be repaired in a manner that would not cause more of a distraction, that the tech would call me & recommend a new windshield. Instead of that happening. I have what looks like elmers glue over the crack. I can't see through it like before it was "repaired". I should have checked Yelp before trusting Safelite with my windshield repair. I also called my insurance company to complain & to ask them to quit paying for work from Safelite. Ps, Yes, I did call the local store and spoke with Susan Franco who told me she understood and would take a look at the pictures I sent her to see if perhaps this was just a sloppy job or something.
