If I could give below 0 stars I would. This is, by far, the WORST home security company. Our system was installed in 2015 and has been an issue since day 1. We've had 7 "smash and crash" alarms go off at any/all hours of the day/night, resulting in a visit from the police while my children were home alone. Their customer service is HORRID, the technician they sent out to "fix" our system 5 months ago was a nightmare to schedule with and when he did finally show up we found out two days later that he installed it incorrectly (he's since been fired) and we are now dealing with scheduling with another technician. They refuse to let us out of the contract because they claim they are continuing to work with us to recify the issues...which they are not. I've just logged my official complaint with the Connecticut Attorney General in hopes that this will provide some sort of resolution. read more

Their literally thieves. I canceled my service with them by following their procedure of calling them and sending them an email requesting to cancel my service. I even got a letter from them saying they had received my email. But soon after, they withdrew the monthly payment out of my bank account. I had to call my bank and pay 20.00 dollars so my bank could block safe home security from doing it that again the following month. Beware of this company who does not care about customer service. Just look at their reviews on Yelp, which clearly reflect how they conduct business. May be the owner of the company is not aware of the business practices their person in charge conducts. THIEVES. Ironic you have thieves watching over your property. read more

Beware! DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT!! You will not be allowed to cancel your contract! There is a reason they are not a BBB member! Do not ever fall for this scam company. Their representatives tell you what you want to hear and do nothing they say. I asked if what happens when you sell the home - they said you can transfer the contract or take the equipment. I sold the home, left the equipment, the new owner called. They are saying I can't get out of the contract so now they are charging me AND the new owner for the same houses. Scam. Don't ever fall for this. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was told by one representative that my contract had expired and needed to review. I sent in a email request as instructed and DAYS later and after installing ANOTHER company's system I receive a letter (by snail mail) stating that my contract didn't expire for another year. I call the office and almost a WEEK later I receive a call basically saying Oh, WELL!!! They've already gotten their equipment back. This company is a disgrace to the business community. They signed my 87 year old mother into a 5 year 'unbreakable' contract. We have experienced NO benefit from their service. In fact when it was truly needed, it didn't even work! The supposed 'personal alarm' would not go off when she pushed it. To test it, we must call, wait on hold for as long as it takes (never quick), then when it DOES work, the sound of the alarm is excruciating; much more than a little elderly woman can stand. To eliminate this sound, oh, well that takes a 'special setting and a service call.' Okay now she's over 90 and had to move into Assisted Living. Do you think they have any mercy towards her? A big NOPE; they still say she MUST fulfill the contract, though she had to sell her home. I just keep sending their bills back with a curt note expressing my displeasure with their company policy. The one star is for the technician they sent twice to 'fix' the alarm. He seemed to have a heart. read more

Got a random message on alarm system in the middle of the night. Called this morning and talked me through fix, great job. Thank you!

Safe Home Security has been a nightmare. Absolutely no response to my complaint for months. When you call them, you nearly always have to leave a message, and it takes a week or more for them to get back to you. I bought a security video surveillance camera from them in May 2020. It never worked right from the get-go. It would constantly shut down and make no recording clips, always when I needed it most. Three times a technician was sent out to fix it, and several other times I got tech support over the phone and on the website, but it continued to shut down. I was on the phone to them at least twice a month. By September 2020, I finally asked for a refund. Each time they would try to fix it again rather than refunding my money. Each month after that, I demanded a refund, and there was always no response. Now it is Feburary 2021. Last week, I finally got someone on the phone who said I will get a refund, and that a manager would get back to me. Still no one has called a week later, so I called today and there is no record of a refund, and no one knows anything about it. So I am back to Zero. Unfortunately, my general home security system is on a contract with them until June 2021, so I have to keep paying for that. NEVER again will I sign a contract with Safe Home Security! They need to get back to me and be reputable and refund me for the equipment that never worked. They record every telephone conversation, so they know I have been reporting their non-functioning product now for 9 months! read more

If you choose this business to monitor your home security, be careful of any contract that you sign. You'll be locked into the contract for the duration and liable for at least 90% of the full amount if you need to cancel. (unless you cancel within 3 days of signing). Be aware and informed--read the fine print. This business is based back East but they do business in California. read more

It's been over 18 month ago asking you guys to cancel any service with your company. I been receiving many letters from your company to collect the payment. I been paying you for 3 years without any problem, soon you guys offering us free monitoring service everything changed. 3 month paying you without using your service, have to disconnect, that was only options recommended by Police Department . I received over $1500.00 charges between Feb. and April 2016 from City of Fort Lauderdale. I never gave anybody authorization to change my PIN code when police calles every time for false alarm coming up. One of your guys added wrong PIN in the system, causing all this problems since then. Your company sent us 4 times technician to solve this problem with a sensor " back door garage" over 3 month. No luck, every time at the end of day many times hours later alarm came off. What was causing that no idea, you guys are on charge of that, me paying you every time. Many convesastions over the phone and many promises that you guys will refund the charges nothing happened yet, I am still waiting ????? The solutions I had was to call the bank and cancel all future charges. I am very disappointed with your company special with a service you provide it to us. I will have to take a legal action if you don't cancel service right away. read more

DO NOT USE this security company. I signed up with them over six years ago. I signed a 3 year contract and never renewed it because the service was terrible. They has the wrong password and NEVER changed it. So it was complete nightmare. They kept calling me to renew my contract and I let them know that I did not intend to renew. It took a while for me to find a new company and hired them. I then called this company to let them know I no longer needed their services. They initially told me to send a letter and they would "let me know the results." I sent the letter and called back in December because they were still charging me. I was THEN told that I needed to get a letter from my current security company (a buy out letter) and then they would release me. I told them that I WAS NOT under contract and that I would not jump through hoops to cancel this service. The woman told me that "they don't make it easy to cancel." She told me that my contract automatically renewed. I informed her that this is not true as they called me repeatedly over two years trying to get me to renew. I was irate and let her know how I felt. She then was upset that I was upset and transferred me to a manager. I ended up in a voicemail box with zero call back. I have now filed a complaint with the BBB to get help with this. I was able to reverse the December fee and stop any further charges to my bank account. They have now sent me an invoice for $60.00 and stated that they will charge me another $10 if not paid in 60 days. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CANCEL. read more

This company has been a nightmare since they got me on contract. Since they first installed my system I received issues by way of false alarms to the point I finally got a ticket from the police which safe home advised me to complain to the cops, yeah right, like I was gonna tell the cops I am not going to pay their bill. Then sensors started going down and I could never get a technician out to my house for service. As issues arose I requested due to their inability to provide agreed service to let me off the contract with no penalty to which they denied that request and continued billing me. Then as COVID arrived on the scene and financial burdens became a issue for my family and the national and state mandates for companies such as this to release customers from contract if requested came around Safe Home did not flinch and would not cancel my contract. Now as I gave them another chance I set up a appointment along with purchasing 2 sensors for 2 new windows I had installed. So I took the day off work to be home for the appointment and as expected they cancelled the morning of with the attitude of we will reschedule as if my time lost from work is no big deal. Then second appointment after that recent one got confirmed the day before and then the tech cancelled the next day as I was on my way home from work to make the appointment. At this point I do not see how this is not fraud. I need help and have reached out to the Attorney Generals office of Florida as well as the Federal Trade Commission for relief. I am pending there assistance at this time. This whole time I keep requesting from safe home to release me as they continue to deny and wish to just keep setting indefinite appointments to which I am fed up on. Please help. read more

I had this company for years because I missed the auto renew date once (because I was given incorrect info and didn't double check it), then again when they offered me a deal. I'd had such bad customer service, including that "deal" I made that I actually ended up talking to the President of the company when the service rep on the phone told me he "didn't have a supervisor." It was a clear bait and switch. The President honored what the guy had told me initially so we stayed with it. Just multiple issues with equipment and service... When I wanted cameras, I didn't want to go through them. I paid off the rest of my contract in Oct 2019 (paid for a year we weren't going to use) and switched to SimpliSafe. Safe Home kept up the auto calls every few days saying the system wasn't working... duh... and no matter how many times I called, they didn't fix it. I figured after 9/2020 (when the contract was supposed to run out), the calls would stop. NOPE. It is Dec 13th of 2020 and I still get calls from "Aria" telling me my service isn't working... read more

beyond atrocious service! Problems with alarm system - can't get out for a week - ask for a supervisor and sent to 2 different voicemails twice each, with no return calls. read more

This company is totally irresponsible. No service. No backup when needed. They are only interested in extending service. I tried on repeated occasions to have them upgrade my system after getting numerous failure notices on the control board. They never returned a call, never set up an appointment. They were only interested in signing me up for a two year service even though I had been a customer for over 5 years. Finally I told them to cancel the service, after which I continued to get bills and eventually they sent me to collection service. During this time I continued to write them letters and call their customer service. When I called them they would pass me on to a service representative who never answered their phone. I left messages and they never returned my call. Horrible, terrible experience! read more

Worst customer service, total scam artists! They schedule service techs that never show up, ask if you want to upgrade and then tell you that there has been no communication with a system you have been paying for, for almost two months. You leave messages for supervisors and managers that never call back. when you want to cancel, even tho there is no longer a contract, you need to put it in writing because this is considered an emergency service. The irony, my service hasn't been working for two months, so I've been paying for a non working emergency service. They offer a month of free credit because of the inconvenience, again, on a non-working system.....so how are they actually monitoring, or are they only monitoring their bank accounts? Today I receive a call from a service tech wanting to schedule a service appointment, I cancelled the service via email and fax previously, now they are ready to schedule?????? Run far and fast from this company, looking into filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

Never sign a contract with Safe Home Security I signed a 3 year contract and I fulfilled my contract with Safe Home Security. I always paid my bill on time and a year in advanced. I wanted to cancel my contract after the 3 year period because I thought their prices were very high. I contacted Safe Home Security 30 days before the contract expired and told them I would not be renewing my contract with them. They said "they auto renewed me into another 1 year contract without my consent." Nobody ever told me, that I had to cancel my contract 60 days before the contract expired. The only way to get out of this new contract was to buy out the contract at 90%. I bought out my contract because I didn't want to do business with a company that is not honest and has no Integrity!!! I will never do business with Safe Home Security ever again!!! Please stay away from this alarm company. Dennis read more

I signed a contract with Safeguard America and Safe Home Security shortly after my home in Florida was burglarized. Unfortunately I lost my job last year (2013) so I needed to sell my and downsize before I got myself into an even more challenging financial situation. I called Safe Home Security and they told me that in order to cancel my service I needed to send a written 60 day notice and fax them a copy of the settlement documents upon closing. I wrote the letter and faxed the documents as requested the day of closing. I received a couple of invoices and called and wrote the company multiple times explaining that I had cancelled and what I had done. Each employee said they had the documentation and that it should be handled. In January, 2014, months after I had moved I received a letter from the Collection Department saying that I was past due and that they were going to report the history to multiple credit bureaus. I was extremely frustrated because I had followed their instructions to the "T" and had talked to multiple employees. I left a voice mail for the collection rep who had sent me the letter that reflected my frustration. He called me back and even though I was angry, he was the ONLY person who told me that the type of contract that I signed held me responsible for 90% of the contract even though I cancelled my service. Not ONE other person that I talked to prior to me cancelling AND MOVING explained it to me. Now, of course, since I moved months ago I cannot TAKE the system with me and they still want me to pay off the balance. I asked if they would install a system in my NEW RESIDENCE and the only way they would do that is if I signed a NEW 3 year contract. I am still unemployed and looking for a job. I only had unemployement for six months and there is NO WAY that I would possibly pass their screening for a new system, which I have explained to them, but that is the only option they will give me. The Collection rep was trying to give me a discounted pay off but of approx. $1400 but his management refused and is pressuring me to pay over $1700 for SOMETHING THAT I DO NOT HAVE AND CANNOT MOVE TO MY NEW RESIDENCE because their employees did not even tell me that was an option. I would NEVER consider SAFEGUARD AMERICA or SHS (Safe Home Security) as an company to do business with. I am trying to be as responsible as I can be under very challenging and difficult circumstances but this company will NOT show one ounce of compassion or work with me at all! Stay away from them!!! read more

The company is untruthful and not forthcoming in either information or response. I contacted them over 2 years ago for a non functioning motion detector and non functioning door alarm. After 6 or 7 emails I called them and after numerous calls was able to set up a service call. The tech, Chris was very pleasant and quickly discovered the problem and reset my motion detector and we changed the battery, which I had on hand. However the kitchen door alarm was not functioning and he told me the battery needed replacing but he didn't have a battery and would have to return. I attempted to set up an appointment for later in the week , with Chris but he stated that he was going on vacation for 2 weeks and would bring me a new battery when he returned. 2 years and about 12 phone calls later I was able to get a follow up service call and again Chris responded, and replaced the battery in my kitchen door alarm, stating that these batteries last about 8years. I stated at that time that I had been a customer for about 10 years and that perhaps all the batteries should be replaced, he then stated that the batteries last about 10 years. He checked my motion detector and discovered that he had taken it off line on his previous visit and had to reset the entire system. When I asked about the system I was told that even without the motion sensor I was partially protected. I stated yes if a burglar was to come through a door I was protected but had they chosen to come through a window I was not. I called Safe Home Security and was passed off to 5 different people and finally told by a very officious woman that maintainance of my system was my responsibility, not theirs. They stated that their records showed that I have not called for monthly recommended( not mandatory) system checks so the problems with the system were my fault not theirs. I explained that I was not the person who turned off my motion sensor, it was their technician and that it took them 2 years to get me a battery. They again said that the system was working and that I had no validity to my complaint. I said it was akin to having a car with 3 wheels, yes it starts and the radio works but I can't go anywhere. Their system was the same. some things worked but not everything. The motion sensor is the heart of the system, without it you have les than 25% coverage and protection. when I proceeded to explain how difficult it was to get them to respond they just denied that I had even tried. I told them that I had sent in no less that 14 but probably as many as 16 online requests for service. At this point I asked them straight forward how can you fix this problem and they offered me 1 free month of service. This was for 2 documented years of problems but probably as much as 4 years of system malfunctions. I asked for half my money back or 2 years free coverage, at which point they told me straight forward that they were not refunding any money. so I counter offered that I would take 1 years free service or they could just tear up my contract, either one would be suitable for me. That is when they told me that I had signed up for a 5 year extension which I said I never had and asked them to send me a copy of my agreement. Which if I did sign it was not portrayed as an extension to my service so it was obtained fraudulently. I would never recommend this company. Buy your own system and set it up yourself, you get better service and the costs are 2000% less. Biggest scam in America. I contacted BBB and am awaiting their investigation. read more

Dangerous to even consider. Run in the opposite direction. They grossly misrepresent the terms of their agreement. They will assure you (salesperson as well as installer) that you can cancel when you need to by providing written notice and paying for a 30 day period. They employ ambiguous language in their contract which can be interpreted to mean that you owe them for thirty days upon cancellation or that you owe them the full amount of the multi-year contract. Though they have a "cancellation cause" in the contract, even this is deceptive, since there is, in fact, no cancellation whatsoever. However they verbally represent to you (those in the office as well as those in the field) that you can cancel at any time. Once you meet this requirement (written notice and pay 30 days), they continue to bill your credit card. If you cancel the card to which they are billing they immediately report "late pays" to the credit bureaus. Once the contract has expired they turn the account over the a collection agency, further damaging your credit rating. The only way out of the mess is to pay extortion money to the collection agency (which has no concern whatsoever for the fact that you don't owe the money to begin with) and that you are a victim of an unethical scheme. These people are utterly unethical read more

HATE this company. Called 4 months in advance (in June) to have our service cancelled at the end of our contract in October and was told that nothing was required in writing and that the phone call would serve as a notice to not renew. Just got a letter in the mail today that says because we didn't notify them in writing within 60 days, our contract was renewed for another year. BS. Why would you call me asking me to renew if you aren't acknowledging that I stated I was not renewing? SHS contracts out their monitoring to a company called Nationwide somewhere in NY. Read the fine print on your contract! If you're paying SHS for monthly monitoring services, it is still YOUR responsibility to check your system to verify if Nationwide is actually receiving your signals! You can be paying for nothing and NO ONE from SHS nor Nationwide will ever call/check/verify that your signals are truly being received (or) in working order. I recently found out that for the last 8-12months I've been paying SHS the monthly monitoring fee but have had No actual monitoring. So I set up an appt to have a tech come out to fix/check my system in which cost me $100. The tech left my home advising everything is fixed and in working order. Well, it wasn't. Note: Nationwide's system is outdated and has on-going issues with receiving signals from various VoIP Lan lines. The only solution from SHS is to charge more per month and upgrade my panel. SHS is very efficient with collecting their monthly fee, but that's where it basically ENDS! So please know, after you pay them you're on your Own! read more

This is not a Five Star review it is a Negative Five Star review. For the past six months after I found that Safe Home Security was over billing my account I discontinued their ability to electronically remove fund from my checking account. I had them send me a paper bill. Because they did not read the CERTIFIED RETURN RECEIPT letter I sent them notifying that their ability to swipe money from my account was suspended, they tried to bill me for their bank charges. They tried not once, but twice costing them $77.32 in cost. On May of this year I spoke to a representative who credit my account and lowered my bill by $83. Two months later, July of 2018 they sent me a bill trying to claw back those credits. I called and disputed them, now it's August and again Home Safe Security is trying to bill me yet again. Anyone who wants to go with safe home don't. Last January I received a call for coming back to Alliance which I had few years back. They gave me a offer so I sign a contract with them. About 2 weeks after I sign a contract which was for 5 years I got a letter from safe home, I called asking what is this letter about and they said I should contact them with any problem. Long story short I had a problem with my camera they sent me a new one and told me to call when I receive it and they will send someone out to hook it up. I called almost everyday for nearly 2 months and no one every came to hook it up. Every time I called they promised me someone by the end of the day will call you. That was a joke. Finally I said enough and I cancelled I did not care that it was breaking a 5 years contract. Finally I called Alliance who I sign the contract with and ask who is safe home was and they told me that It should have been explain to me from the begin that Alliance and Safe home are sister company and Alliance goes out and set it up and safe home takes over. That is so wrong I was lead to believe I was with Alliance which I had in the pass and had no problems with. You only have 3 days to cancel your contract so when I got the letter from safe home I could not cancel. I went on better business Bureau find out that there is a alert on the company from the Attorney General that this company is breaking their settlement agreement they had back a few years ago. Safe home had to pay over 30,000.00 in restitution and 70,000.00 to the state of Connecticut . Right now I sent a letter to the Attorney General looking for help to get out of this contract. This is their way of getting new customers leading you to believe you are signing with Alliance but you home really is with safe home. read more

We were told by 3 different people they would have to "find" someone to come out and will call us back. Never got those calls back so we would call again. They would promise us someone would be out Friday. Then we're promised someone would call us Monday and come out that day. Never happened. This went on for over 2 weeks. I spoke to someone who claimed to be in charge and told me the soonest they could get someone out would be in 5 days after we have been trying for 2 weeks. I told them no I needed someone sooner since this was their fault. He also informed me it would be $199 after No one else told us about these fees.
