ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY EVER. There is a defect in our alarm system in which the motion detector goes off for no reason. It has been going on for the past 3 months and they refuse to fix it. The alarm has gone off at least 20 times in the middle of the night for no reason. Now the police department is billing us! On top of that, a worker who came in months ago before this problem was extremely racist. He told my father that he doesn't belong in this country and to go back where he came from. Is that what they call customer service? If I could give them a zero I would. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. We will be taking them to court. read more

My 5 year contract ended in March 2012 but when I sent my notice of termination I was told that I need to have given 60 days notice so I now I've been rolled over into another year of terrible service with SHS and must give 60 days notice next year or... guess what? Examples of bad service: too long to list but briefly, multiple days waiting at home for them to arrive and either they never showed up or showed up late. When they did show, they did shoddy work. The equipment used is standard fare for the industry. It works as it is supposed to. That said the rest of the operation sucks! The customer service reps are terrible! I've tried to get my ex-wife's name off my account for about 3 years now. I was told my equipment was equipped with Z-Wave technology and found out afterward that this is an add on after installation. I reluctantly ordered the Z-Wave board after negotiating a decent price and it was to be shipped out. Over two months later after calling in two more times I received it. Pathetic! I will give kudos to the technical guy who came to my house when I had a faulty switch. He was friendly, on-time and meticulous! When the alarm goes off it takes forever for them to contact you. Seriously a burger could have run in, stolen all the small things before anyone even called. By the time the police would actually get here my house could have been emptied. I am not at all impressed with this service. I have about another year and I will be moving on. read more

I wish I could give zero stars to this company. First of all, whatever you do, don't sign a contract with these people. Even if you sell your home you will not be able to discontinue the services. I don't have the option to move my services since we will be renting temporarily until we get our house built. In the two years we have had the service, it's been one thing after another that I had to call customer service for, and they were always uncaring, uncooperative, and one time even sent me the manual to read since they couldn't help me with the issue. NO NO NO!!! After 15 years as a customer - asked to terminate service. We were informed that our contract continued to auto-renew annually and had another nine months or so on it. This DESPITE having been assured that after our initial commitment expired (the "free" equipment) that we were month to month. Then, they offered us what they called a 'settlement' - we could pay almost $400 to settle the account and terminate it now. However, they neglected to tell us that for another $20, the service would continue through January. Some settlement! And, to add insult to injury - we now have to inform them in January that we want to terminate or they will still bill us month to month. Do not sign a contract with these folks - who charge you $30/month to 'monitor' your system. Monitor, as in - wait for the phone to ring when something happens - that's not monitoring in my opinion. read more

After my initial contract was over with this company they made promises about improving their services including the following: - sending a technician to correct existing issues - 3 months service for free - a reduction in the monthly charge After signing the new contract, they charged my bank account twice in a row at the new rate but never applied the three months free offer, a technician was never scheduled to come to my home to correct the issues that I had with their service. I sent them a letter explaining my disappointment and called to leave a message with their sales person several times but the company never fulfilled their obligations. This seems fraudulent to me because their collections department is calling to get money after they never fulfilled their contractual promises. This company is horrible. They don't have online billing, it's impossible to get someone on the phone, and then when I finally did get someone on the phone to cancel service they told me that I couldn't cancel my service because of the contract. I told them I wanted to cancel my service right now and I wasn't interested in waiting for my contract to be up even if that meant paying something. They then told me I needed to send in a letter to do so. I then asked them why I needed to send a letter when I was on the phone right now telling them I wanted to cancel. The guy on the other side of the phone then became irate snappy and was yelling at me "because it's the lawwwwww!!!!!!". Ok so at this point I asked him why he was so angry and why I should know that it's the law that I need to send in a letter saying I want to cancel my service. Anyways it went on like this for a couple of minutes and it got pretty nasty and then he hung up on me. If I could rate them zero I would. I wish I had read all the other horrible reviews first. My story is the same as many other posts: we get woken in the middle of the night, several times a night. SH says they can send a tech in 3 weeks, they cannot service their customers in a timely manner. And yes, from an attorney (me), I believe their cancelation terms to meet the criteria for a legal action in MA under our consumer protection statute, " unfair and deceptive". However, as SH is presently facing a contemp citation in CT for continuing these very practices, I will contact the Attorney General in CT and add my complaint, deceptive cancelation practices, to the suit. It's quite likely SH will eventually get tired of paying damages plus interest for the way they do business. BTW, we were just told by SH they only have 2 techs, both with other jobs, to service all of New England. Pandemic notwithstanding, this isn't what we signed up for. If SH cannot find the workers to properly service their customers, they should allow early cancelation with no penalty. read more

If you are looking for alarm companies do NOT give this 1 a dime! The few times we did need alarm dispatch to check on our property took nearly an hour for them to arrive and we were still charge $57! Getting out of the contract is a joke too. I emailed the company 3 times to cancel and send my final invoice. No reply. They charged my card that month. I called and confirmed account was closed and final invoice was being sent. Told them they no longer had permission to charge my card. Guess what.. a month later they charged my card TWICE and then told me the person I talked to a month before was new and didnt give me correct info aboht getting out of the contract 3 months early. Here we are 1.5 months later and I still don't have the final invoice so I can PAY IT AND BE DONE! That's all I am asking. How difficult should this be? After 6 months of trying to get a smart home which they continually scheduled and no showed, or the first time they actually came out and talked me out of getting it because it was a contractor not an employee. Then they CHARGED me for it ANYWAY even though it was never installed. I had their service for 10 years and never renewed my contract. They wouldn't let me go. They wouldn't even tell the me the payoff for the 'auto-renew' and yet they were still charging me $60 for the upgraded service I never got. I finally saw that there was a pending lawsuit against them for other unethical practices so I filed one in my own state and they is FINALLY when I got free. Seriously STAY away... What a scam, I believe they broke the law in my case. My grandmother started service with them many many years back. She passed away 2 years ago and this company would not cancel the policy even after she was dead??? Her son, who is my step father called them and was told that he was responsible to make her payments until the end of the contract. The contract was not in his name......So this was complete deception and I'm pretty sure an illegal practice. My step father has been making the payment for the last 2 years because he thought they would destroy his credit if he didn't pay them. Shame on him for being so naive. 2 weeks ago, he passed away. I called the company to let them know that not only Grandma, but now her son are both dead!!! They told me that they didn't have a customer on file for the address where the service is located??? Total BS! In any case, I have closed the account that they are auto billing. They will not receive another penny. Looking at all of the other reviews, I doubt there is anything I can do but contact an attorney. However, the account was never in my name.....So I guess there is no recourse. He was unable to resolve the problem but I was charged anyway. They changed there name to either Security Systems Provider or Security Systems Inc. As soon as my contract is up, I'm gone. read more

I've been with this company for a number of years and my experience has been good. Today I had an awful issue where my smoke detector just went off for no reason and it was long while before it was shut off. The dog was petrified and I was very annoyed but as usual the response team called - always a good experience. The rep, Stephanie(?), was absolutely awesome - she was very professional and pleasant. A few hours later I spoke with another rep by the name of Eric and he was professional as well. Don't use this company in Southern California. They installed the system in our house and the system was in "failed communication status" more often than working status. The system could not communicate with their facility. They sent 2 technicians, on two different visits, to fix the problem. Neither one fixed anything and left the house without a solution. They tried to blame the problem on our phone line but we never had a problem with our phone line. I informed the company I wanted to cancel because their product did not work. They said I could not get out of the contract. I stopped paying and they filed a delinquency on my credit file and started harassing me with collection calls. SHS wants you to pay for a service that does not work, wastes your time with service techs that cannot help, and then wants you to pay for the remainder of the contract with no service. I had the system for three years. My alarm went off 5 times in that period and they only responded twice. Thank God nothing happened it was an error, but no phone call and no followup, no dispatch to police. I then decided to cancel it and it was coming due end of May. I called at the beginining of May and they had already renewed my contract. I was told they needed a cancelation in writing 60 days prior. Never got a bill. Was never told about the 60 day notice. Never in 15 months got any communication from them mind you. I just checked Credit Karma and found that my 857 credit score is now 654 with Experian. All these years of A credit ....these unprofessional people made that all go away with their callous attitude. If I could give below 0 stars I would. This is, by far, the WORST home security company. Our system was installed in 2015 and has been an issue since day 1. We've had 7 "smash and crash" alarms go off at any/all hours of the day/night, resulting in a visit from the police while my children were home alone. Their customer service is HORRID, the technician they sent out to "fix" our system 5 months ago was a nightmare to schedule with and when he did finally show up we found out two days later that he installed it incorrectly (he's since been fired) and we are now dealing with scheduling with another technician. They refuse to let us out of the contract because they claim they are continuing to work with us to recify the issues...which they are not. I've just logged my official complaint with the Connecticut Attorney General in hopes that this will provide some sort of resolution. read more

I even got a letter from them saying they had received my email. But soon after, they withdrew the monthly payment out of my bank account. This company is a disgrace to the business community. They signed my 87 year old mother into a 5 year 'unbreakable' contract. We have experienced NO benefit from their service. In fact when it was truly needed, it didn't even work! The supposed 'personal alarm' would not go off when she pushed it. To test it, we must call, wait on hold for as long as it takes (never quick), then when it DOES work, the sound of the alarm is excruciating; much more than a little elderly woman can stand. To eliminate this sound, oh, well that takes a 'special setting and a service call.' Okay now she's over 90 and had to move into Assisted Living. Do you think they have any mercy towards her? A big NOPE; they still say she MUST fulfill the contract, though she had to sell her home. I just keep sending their bills back with a curt note expressing my displeasure with their company policy. Safe Home Security has been a nightmare. Absolutely no response to my complaint for months. When you call them, you nearly always have to leave a message, and it takes a week or more for them to get back to you. I bought a security video surveillance camera from them in May 2020. It never worked right from the get-go. It would constantly shut down and make no recording clips, always when I needed it most. Three times a technician was sent out to fix it, and several other times I got tech support over the phone and on the website, but it continued to shut down. I was on the phone to them at least twice a month. By September 2020, I finally asked for a refund. Each time they would try to fix it again rather than refunding my money. Each month after that, I demanded a refund, and there was always no response. Now it is Feburary 2021. Last week, I finally got someone on the phone who said I will get a refund, and that a manager would get back to me. Still no one has called a week later, so I called today and there is no record of a refund, and no one knows anything about it. So I am back to Zero. Unfortunately, my general home security system is on a contract with them until June 2021, so I have to keep paying for that. NEVER again will I sign a contract with Safe Home Security! They need to get back to me and be reputable and refund me for the equipment that never worked. They record every telephone conversation, so they know I have been reporting their non-functioning product now for 9 months! read more

I contracted with this company for my business, the alarm system went off twice due to street noise, which caused me to incurr fees from the city for dispatching police and false alarms. Safe Home security denied any wrong doing on their equipment, I got stuck paying the city fees and the alarm system. I completly unplugged the alarm so i would not get any more fees from the city. unfortunatly since I signed a contract, I had to continue making payments for a service and equipment I dont't even use.
