This company has huge customer service issues. In my previous home I had them for 5 years and when…read moreI decided to sell the house thinking the 5 year contract was up, they found a way to say that because I contacted their technician for repairs at some point, the contract got extended for 5 more years, and I couldnt get out, or I would have to pay 2 years of fee to get out. What the hell!!? They said dont worry, we can transfer your service to the new home at no additional cost. $3k later with non-stopping last minute fees, I have a downgraded service and devices from Alarm.com, and got yelled by the technician Scott in my own home for complaining the keypad was crooked. The technician also lost my second keypad in his second visit, and blamed us, so I had to pay $200 for it again. I am trying to call customer service to resolve the issue for months now, and no response, and I am stuck to a ridiculous 5 year contract. I am very fed up with this company after being a customer for more than 5 years. Absolutely unacceptable!

Just yesterday, August 11, 2025, we contacted ADT to add additional services to our monitoring. That is when we found out that this is NOT ADT but Safe Home Security. We never received a copy of the contract until yesterday as well. The only thing we had was the application in which the sales man clearly writes "ADT". We've tried calling Safe Home Security only to be told we are stuck in their 63 month contract and we cannot get out of it. This is Fraud! Had we known (or even received a copy of the signed contract) we would have cancelled immediately.

I'm writing this review because I've seen the other comments regarding difficulty cancelling. I called to cancel and was told to send a cancellation notice in writing which could be done by email. I did that and got an auto reply back seeming to suggest that I need to provide them the new homeowner's details if I was selling, or my account would not be cancelled. I wrote them back and told them that I would not be giving them anyone else's personal details. I asked to please do as instructed and cancel my account as I have no active contract and I'm under no obligation to do anything but inform them I'm cancelling. I then get a regular mail notification saying that I needed to call them regarding my account. Around that time I saw that they had billed me again. Long story short from here. I contacted my bank and put a block on any further payments and requested a refund on the most recent payment that occurred after I cancelled. My bank investigated and I got the refund. I called them again tonight to make sure its cancelled and they say it is. We'll see.

The cost was several thousand $$'s. Ever since we have had nothing but TROUBLE! "Low battery" signals on 2 sensors, "Not under supervision" on a third sensor. Loss of wireless contact on a 4th sensor. Although SHS's warranty covers these problems (for now), each event requires that I take a day off work to stay home and wait for the service tech to come (4 times now over a span of ~8 weeks). Moreover, until the tech can schedule a visit (usually ~1 to 2 weeks), our house has no functional alarm. A further, though admittedly less fatal flaw, is that all the sensors (especially the glass break sensor) are large and ugly. The glass break sensors look like enormous mushrooms growing on the wall! Check out the 2GIG website to see these sensors before committing, and better yet, check out an installer/monitoring company other than SHS.

What began as a positive relationship eventually turned into repeated billing issues, including double charges and unexplained fees that required me to cancel autopay and change my card information. A major concern for future customers: Alarm New England locks their Honeywell Lyric panels with installer codes that they do not provide to the customer, even after the contract is fulfilled and the equipment is fully paid for. When I asked for the installer code, I was told I "did not have access" to it. This effectively prevents you from using your own hardware with another provider. Only after I sent a certified termination letter did the company suddenly reach out, offering to reset the code, but only if I powered the old panel back on, which I had already replaced. Service quality also declined over the years. One simple sensor installation took nearly an entire day, and phone hold times were often 20 minutes or more. I was also quoted an extremely high price for a basic battery replacement, which came with pressure to sign a new multi‑year contract. I have since switched to a local company that provides full access to my system, transparent pricing, and no long‑term contracts. Based on my experience, I would encourage others to research alternatives before committing to Alarm New England.

This time they told us we needed to put in writing. Which we did. They they still charged us for 2 months after our departure. Really? In addition to poor connection service and loss of service multiple times, they kept our money. If you choose to have a monitored service look elsewhere.
