I think Ackert does sloppy work and is dishonest in how they advise and charge customers. I recommend you avoid using them. We had Ackert in to install a light fixture. They installed it noticanly off center in the room and left half the hole from the original light fixture sticking out from beginning the new light fixture. They advised the person at home at the time that this was the only way the light could be mounted in our ceiling because there was not enough wire to allow it to reach the middle of the room. The job looked very bad so i called and spoke to the business owner. He said that way the light was installed was the only way it could be done and the homeowner was fine with it being that way. The home owner did not know that it was done wrong and did not have to be that way. When i suggested a way the light could be installed in center of the room the owner said it could be done that way. He agreed to have the electricians stop by and move the light to the center of the room for free to fix the first sloppy job. He recommended I put in a smoke in detector to cover the first light box they had to leave in the ceiling. The electricians said this was a$30 smoke detector. I agreed to have them move the light and pay for the $30 smoke detector. It took 20 minutes to move the light to the center of the room. Why had it not done that way originally? I don't know. The first time they were here for an hour working and at the end, before leaving, the electricians gave us a $180 bill that was itimized for labor and the multiple parts used. After they did the correction job I asked the electrician to give me the bill so I could pay for the smoke detector. They said the owner was going to "settle up" with me later. I called the company that day to ask how much I owed for the smoke detector and got mo call back. A week after the light fixture was moved to the center of the room I got no return call, but a bill in the mail for $195 for the 20 minute job to move the light and installing the $30 smoke detector! It was not itimized for parts and labor as the first had been. It was a huge bill to correct the sloppy work they had agreed to correct for free. It seemed wrong. I called to say this was not our agreement and am awaiting their response. I will be sending them a check for $30 as agreed and never calling them again. I recommend you don't call them at all. read more

I'm currently disappointed in Ackert Electric and will update this review with a better rating if the problem gets fixed. We have used Ackert for multiple repairs and upgrades around our house and have had good service from them otherwise. However, last night we lost power to our furnace around 9:30. I called Ackert Electric and left a voicemail on Tim Ackert's cell phone which was their emergency line according to the answering machine. We did not get a call back. We called again this morning at 8:00. It is now almost noon and we still have not received a call back. I called a different electrician and they came out and fixed the problem, but I am wondering why should Ackert give out an emergency phone number when they do not answer it. read more

I've used Ackert Electric on a number of occasions in the past. They have never failed to respond promptly and to perform outstanding work. In the past, they have done general electrical work, anything from simple troubleshooting and repairs I couldn't handle myself to complex installations. They installed all the items needed to easily engage a portable 8k generator. Their prices have always been reasonable. Most recently, they did a fair amount of work to install a fair amount of data infrastructure. They handled 12 data drops, installing a new rack for networking equipment into a home office closet, mounting the equipment to the rack, running an appropriate circuit to the rack, and some additional misc. work around the house. All done cleanly, efficiently, and at a fair price. read more

I requested a quote for primarily wiring a generator along with a couple of other replacement/repair jobs via their impressive website on 10/07/2020. The website indicates they would be contacting me "shortly." It is now 10/16 and shortly hasn't come yet. I hear often that we should support our local businessmen who frequently struggle to stay open during times like this. However, it speaks for itself when a simple on-line request is not answered. All the bragging on the website about how wonderful, professional and considerate they are to customers means nothing when the courtesy to return a perspective customer's request becomes too much to ask. If you talk the talk you should walk the walk. I have found another business who IS considerate of their customers. read more

I called and had Ackert out for a routine service - all went went well. They scoped out two other jobs that I needed done, one was for winter heat tape in the gutters, so timing was critical on this and I assured that this would not be a problem. I called on multiple occasions after the initial visit to get my quotes and get scheduled. Left messages with no returned call, eventually WENT into office because of unanswered calls and no returned calls - got put on schedule for work to be done. The week the work was to be done they cancelled the appointment on me. Called multiple times after this practically begging for quote and scheduling... more frustration. Eventually got my quote, but by this time it was too late and I was beyond frustrated. Found another local electrician that was great and got work done in a timely manner. I will never call Ackert again as I lost too much valuable trying to chase them down... Don't waste your time. read more
