Safe Air Fast Environmental (SAFE) is a testing service for asbestos and lead in structures. In our case, they came to our home as directed by Service Master. The tester was well dressed and polite. He took 2-3 samples of the floor tiles and walls. 3-4 hours later we got a positive answer, which led to another removal service. The actual testing was painless, but the resulting billing is nothing but playing tag with them, us, and the insurance company. Their bill for this service? Nearly $600 read more

Experienced mold issue after a water heater leak. Remediation work was in progress and I needed a mold clearance test performed afterwards. Called the office and left 2 voicemails over 2 days. Also left a message via their website on the first day. Finally got a call-back about 2 hours later on the second day. Heide was very helpful in getting an appt set up and emailed me their price sheet as requested. She was very flexible and understanding about the uncertainty of when the remediation would be completed and we tentatively scheduled a testing date. I appreciated how flexible they were with the scheduling. Technician came out around 2:15pm and took samples. He was masked and courteous. I was told I might be lucky enough to receive results that same day as the lab didn't close until 5pm. No results that day (I really didn't expect them same day anyway). However, I didn't receive them the next day either. (Note that I had drywall contractors and plumbers and HVAC personnel tentatively scheduled to work assuming a one day turnaround.) Finally received the results a little before 9am on the second day. Report was well written and straight forward. Review would have been 5 stars had they promptly responded to my initial contact attempts AND received my results the day after testing. read more

Don't hire this company they will waste your time. I called in distress because Myself, wife, and two kids are allergic to mold and we were getting sick in our newly purchased home and wanted professionals to come in and help us identify the source of mold in our home so that we could hire contractors to come in and make proper repairs. I was told I would get 3 air samples, crawl space would be inspected, and state of the art equipment would be used to evaluate our home for mold. It's all a lie if they don't see obvious water marks on your walls or windows they just run air samples and getting those air sample results from them is a challenge all on its own. $450 and all I got was some air samples and a phone call from a guy named Ted asking me what I expected from them. After I let him have it with how we were really relying on them to properly inspect our home so we could no longer wake up with itchy throats, watery eyes, and coughing there remedy was to just refund our money. Thanks for your consideration to my families health we thought we were hiring professionals. If your experiencing similar issues in your home with Mold hire someone else because now I have to wait weeks to get an appointment with another company. read more

I recently discovered that the ventilation system in the home I rent uses materials with asbestos and was extremely shocked and upset by this discovery. The prospect my wife and son breathing asbestos who's affects cannot even be identified for 10-30 years was horrifying. I was referred to Safe Air Fast by an asbestos testing lab which did not actually do their own expert sampling and gathering. I talked to somebody named Ted. Once I got my landlord involved in the process however, Ted became extremely uncooperative with me for some strange reason (mind you it was I that reached out to him for testing), saying that he refused to take me on as a client, that the company policy was to work only with landlord. This seemed strange. But Ok I said, I would get written permission from the landlord. I told Ted that my landlord understood my concerns and was willing to sign off on basically anything. Sounds like a blank check? Yea. Exactly. Why would Ted act as an obstacle? Even once I had it verbally and in writing, this was not good enough. Ted became very rude with me when I even attempted to understand what the real issue was and why he refused to work with me. I am still confused by the whole episode. Suffice to say I have called a few other places since talking to Safe Air Fast, and they have all been more than willing to work with me, without any condition of my landlord's involvement even. I would highly recommend staying away from Safe Air Fast as there are many better options in the SF bay area, unless you like being treated poorly and being talked down to. read more

My business relies on getting fast, reliable testing done all the time. I've probably referred SAFE 20 time and never had a problem. The price for testing is pretty much the same, the difference is customer service. Kathy is the best. I always feel like I'm her priority, she gets to my clients right away and always answers her phone. When I needed a J report on my own house, she had it done immediately. It's not such a big company they can't keep track of where the reports are and yet it's big enough that there is always someone available to go to the job site. Go Kathy!!!! read more

I am a Project Manager for the last three years with a local restoration company and the entire SAFE team has been highly consistent with their dependability, professionalism, and support. The field guys are very knowledgeable and know what they are doing. The whole team's follow-up, is very good too. One of their dedicated and excellent teammates always call you right back, on the rare occasions when miss a call. Our company has grown over the last few years, and it coincides with our strong relationship with SAFE. Regarding some of the negative tenant comments, I advise having your owner or property manager work directly with SAFE as they are ultimately responsible for the property structure and providing a safe place to live. Ted and his crew are very knowledgeable and professional. The appointments are flexible and they show up on time. When needed, they stepped in and provided their expert opinion to make sure the remediation was done correctly. I talked to many other companies (at least 5) and SAF does not use scare tactics to explode the job to more than it really is. He came out as part of an insurance claim, but while he was here we had a few other questions about other possible mold/moisture issues in our house. They took air samples from every room impacted and also outside to use as an independent variable. They arrived on time, were professional and provided the report within 24 hours.
