This was my 1st time shooting a gun. The staff was very patient, nice, and made me feel comfortable holding something so fierce. My 8 yr old son came and he had a blast "shooting" zombies, and bow n arrows. They taught my son that even though the gun he was holding wasn't a real gun but you should treat it like it is, because you never know. I really appreciated that. This was mine and my sons 1st time at a gun range and I am very pleased with my experience and will be back. I bought a groupon gift $28, for range pkg for two, to husband for Christmas. A Family Emergency out of state came up and wanted to see if I could extend it cause it expires April 15. I didn't expect coupon to expire only 4 months later. They told me to come up there and I will be refunded the purchase amount and I could repurchase another groupon when husband gets back. I went up there and she said with the rental amount $12, lane rental 2 people $35, ear and eye pro $5 each and extra target $1, that I could only get charged $28 when he gets back, I already paid for it. Due to emergency, I thought they would have some compassion and just extend the expiration date. Guess that's to much to ask for. Disappointed in this place already and haven't even gone there yet. read more

We visited on a busy Saturday, browsed the store, got a good look at part the range through the window, and met the owner. Non-member range pricing is competitive, which is very surprising considering the facility is the nicest range I have ever seen. Even with competitive non-member pricing, buying a Gold membership was a no-brainer for me. Laurie guided us through the application process and welcomed us into the Saddle River family. I went today for my first visit as a member and was personally greeted by Laurie! Yep, feels like family. The range area staff members I met today were helpful, professional, and engaging, I plan to be at the range two times per week and will recommend Saddle River Range to family, friends, and students. read more

I absolutely love this place! It's a clean and well-maintained facility with clear rules and procedures. The staff are all extremely friendly and provide information for any questions you may have. Very nice layout, very helpful and polite staff. Gun range is clean does not have that humid/?? Smell and feel to it. In you're lane is a very convenient shelf below the shooters table for the range bag etc. Finally don't have it on the floor where it's in the way. There is a TV monitor next to you so that you can see via a camera you're target. Don't have to keep bringing the target back just to check things. My wife was looking for a Glock 43 Tiffany. They ordered it, did not have to wait long for it to arrive. Took about two weeks to arrive. When on the range she had a small problem and the range assistant was very helpful. I made two attempts to contact customer service. Apparently there are more than one website for Saddle River Range. The fire arms retail store never responded to my emails. After posting a negative review I was contacted immediately by someone at the actual range. They are going to make some changes to the information on the web pages to clarify the contact information. The person that contacted me was very helpful in getting me in touch with someone to help me. I will update the review once I determine what the customer service is like. read more

This place is pretty nice. It is brand new and it is well managed. I go by myself and have a good time. I have never had any problems here but I have seen families having a hard time. I just think they should leave the kids and wife at home when they go to the range... they never look that into it. read more

*1 star only because I can't give no stars...Completely Unprofessional! Took my rifle to them to have a new barrel installed. Paid the $70, picked rifle up a week later. 2 weeks after that, took said rifle to a match, rifle (AR15) would only fire as single shot. Could NOT compete in the match that I bought the rifle for. Dropped the rifle off at another local shop due to being in the vicinity. They diagnosed the problem (canted gas block) immediately. Fixed it and had me on my way in 20 minutes. Rifle functions perfectly. I contacted Doug (manager) @ Saddle River and explained what happened. I asked him for a refund of JUST the repair cost ($38), not the $70 I paid them originally. I paid them good money for services and missed my match and all he would do was give a $20 store credit to a store that just failed at doing a very simple gun barrel swap! Not to mention $20 credit to a store that has the highest prices around is a joke! Told him this was unacceptable, wanted to talk to the owner. Surely he would not let this happen, not over $38. Well, after numerous emails, the owner (Thom) finally called me back. He stated that all he would do was the $20 credit and throw in some range time. At this time I told him never mind. Its the principal of the whole idea of customer service. This is beyond unacceptable. To let a customer walk away from your establishment, after messing up his gun to the point he misses a match and has to take it elsewhere for repair, and then to only offer $20 store credit is deplorable! I will never set foot in this place again and rest assured I will let the multitudes of people I talk to about firearms know exactly how little Saddle River thinks of their customers and the overall ineptitude of the owner, the manager and their gunsmith in services. read more

Pros: Technologically advanced - the gun smith was very helpful. The employees are gun store serious but professional. Clearly a lot of money was spent on the facility. The range venting system works well. Cons: After reading the rules and signing in digitally I inquired about holster practice and advised the staff I was a law enforcement officer. I was told a range officer would be in to holster qualify me. A few minutes later, a range officer "holster qualified" me which consisted of presenting LE credentials or CHL, and my driver's license, filling out a form about what make, model, and calibre gun I carry and what brand of holster I was using. I answered a question about what kind of prior training I had and then the range officer inspected my weapon for functionality (which consisted of him racking the slide a few times and dry firing it), then he visually inspected my holster. I was asked the 4 rules of firearms safety and asked to verbalize how to draw a pistol from a holster. Next I had to demonstrate drawing from the holster and dry firing 10 times followed by demonstrating drawing from the holster and live firing - again 10 times. If you allow a particular gun on the range without an inspection, why does the gun require a function inspection if used with a holster. Does having a holster some how change the application of the firearms safety rules (why quiz a holster shooter about the rules but not quiz non-holster shooters?) What does the holster have to do with the calibre? Is a .40 calibre Glock some how more or less safe than a 9mm Glock once a holster is introduced? We've already established my identity by presenting my driver's license at check-in and re-established it through the presentation of LE credentials or CHL at the firing position so...I'm confused - what does having a driver's license have to do with the safe use of a holster? Ironically, approximately 45 minutes later, I and my date, were politely kicked off the range - not for a safety violation, but for using up my allotted one hour. The range officer graciously allowed us to finish up our last magazine - since, as he volunteered, no one was waiting. Had I known that 10 minutes of my precious 60 (minus set up) would be used getting "holster qualified" I wouldn't have bothered. Also, this range allows rifle shooters on the same deck as pistol shooters. This doesn't really bother me, (although I don't generally see the point of shooting a rifle at 25y and less - its not like any serious CQC training is occurring esp. with those shooting deer rifles) but I did notice some other pistol shooters didn't appreciate the disparate concussion and blast. This range doesn't allow hand loaded ammo (and I don't think they let you pick up your own brass). Bottom Line: If you want to grab a latte and hang out in a gun friendly location, this place is for you. If you want an atypical date-night venue this is absolutely a great place to introduce a girlfriend to shooting. Do you believe in shooting as a martial art? Do you fully anticipate wearing out your recoil spring(s)? Do you keep a spare magazine in your wife's car? If you answered yes to any of these questions, there may be a range better suited for you elsewhere. I really wanted to like this range because it is close to my house. I wouldn't say I had a "bad" experience here, but the policies fell way short of my expectations. For my money, there are other places that assume active duty law enforcement* can safely use a holster, understand separating rifle and pistol shooters is probably a good idea and don't care how long you shoot if no one is waiting. At least now I know what a Guntry Club is and that it's not for me. read more

It's ok, but I'll stick with my usual range. Pros: it's clean and a nice place. They've got a bar with coffee and sandwiches. The target placement machine is high tech and has a digital distance read out. They have a shooting simulator. The staff were friendly. Cons: 1) it's the loudest range I've used. Although they seem to have the usual sound proofing, it's noticeably louder than other ranges, when hearing my own guns and other shooters. Also, they allow rifles to shoot on the same lane as pistols. So, while il shooting my pistol at 10 yards, periodically a deer rifle is blasting in the lane right next to me. It was deafening. 2) The check in was time consuming. I didn't see any signs and so had to wander around until another customer pointed me to where there is a check in desk. Then you have to watch a 2 minute safety video. We couldn't hear over the noise in the store, and it was just basic gun safety, which if you don't know, you don't belong on a range alone. After the video we asked for a lane and were then told to go back to the video system to read and sign the waiver. It was all pretty disorganized. 3) I didn't use the simulator, but watched others. It was pretty cartoonish. Seemed much less real than the one at gander mountain. 3) It is a bit expensive. $33 for two shooters on a lane. May be a good choice for taking a date shooting, or if you really want a panini between rounds, but it's not for me. read more

Great staff and we had a good time. This was my 18 year olds first time firing a gun and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that safety was first. We used the rentals and fired a couple of guns. Can't say enough about the staff and the price was good....plus they don't push the sales side. Try them out. The facility itself was nice, the customer service on the other hand was absolute garbage. I recently separated from the military and had wanted to buy myself a new AR. I stood in front of the counter watching the employees talking to each other for 20 minutes, when I finally was able to wave someone down the "sales person" seemed more preoccupied with his cell phone than making a sale. I'm not worried, I'll more than happily spend my money else where. read more

Had a very good experience at SRR for the License To Carry course. The instructor was very informative and had a impeccable resume. The facility is top notch and I really enjoyed the indoor gun range for the proficiency shooting part of the test. They provided lunch for us and the classroom spacing was great. Did not feel like 24 person classroom. Will return for future gun & ammo purchases. read more

Just got finished playing Archery Tag for the first time and it was a blast! Our 5 and 8 year olds were playing too (no experience) and the people there were so awesome! They played with us the whole time and helped the kids the entire game! Can't wait to go back! Terrific facility and stellar staff. read more

Compared to other ranges around Conroe, this place blows the competition away. The staff was frighteningly helpful and polite, not used to that level of service at a gun store/range. Was a bit disappointed in the number of shooting lanes but we had no problem getting in on a Friday afternoon. Once inside the ventilation was very nice and the AC was blowing. The shooting stalls had the Action Target name on them which is very comforting as they make top notch gear. The noise level was pretty awful but this was to be expected for an indoor range. We were shooting suppressed but a guy next to us was shooting an AR which sounded like a cannon. The ROs were very friendly and meticulously swept up the brass. I also liked the target camera at the 25 yard line. I prefer shooting at an outdoor range but given the chance, I'd probably return to Saddle River Range, especially in the summer. read more

Our group of 6 (ages 10 thru 46) had a FANTASTIC time at the archery range. The folks at Saddle River Range were very gracious and accommodating. My husband called in the early afternoon to see if we could arrange a group lesson. And within a couple of hours of the call, we found ourselves at the archery range all geared and and ready to go. Toby was an excellent teacher; he gave us all some insightful and valuable pointers and kept it fun for the kids - and us! All twelve thumbs enthusiastically up!!! We will definitely return the next time we are in town! read more

My husband and I visited the range with another couple for a date night. Only one person in our group had much experience with firearms, so we were a bit nervous. We had a great experience shooting on the range! All the staff we met were very helpful. Everyone was friendly and patient, including Luke, who helped us decide which pistols to shoot, and Michael, who showed us how to handle the guns and load them. Afterwards we had a nice late lunch in the cafe - which was really good. The building is lovely and the range itself was comfortable and kept at a nice cool temperature. I highly recommend the range for a fun time shooting, even if you have no experience with guns of any kind. The range seems well-run, clean and quite safe. We gave it two big thumbs up. read more

Wow, talk about rude employees and terrible customer service. Been in here many times to do archery and each time the service is bad. Today was the final straw and I will never go back. Very rude person at check in. Everytime I go in I have to give them my info again. Why cant they save my info so I dont have to register each time. Today was the first time I was ever given a target paper, I always just used the one already up. Seems like whenever the employees have a break some of them do archery which I think is great. However today several were congregating back there and would hold up the process with there chit chatting. Very very rude employees. I would advise anyone to never go here. read more

The facility is very nice, clean, and open with an inviting feel. I would've given a much higher rating but unfortunately one staff member ruined my first experience. I went to the store and spoke with a tall white male with tribal tattoos and a human heart tattoo who was working the range at 6:30 on 2/8. I am a woman and it was my first time shooting my brand new 9mm M&P shield. He asked what I was shooting and proceeded to tell me that I'll absolutely hate my new pistol.. very off-putting but luckily I loved my new gun. The same gentleman also spoke with my husband and his friend who are quite experienced with a variety of guns and purposely spoke out against every item they inquired about. He was very condescending during the entire encounter. Cocky & unprofessional. Really disappointing that such a nice place (that I'd normally love to go to) has employed someone with such awful customer focus.. read more

If I could give it no stars I would, let me explain. I just got done building a new AR15 and wanted to brake it in. It was going good when I first got there, 5 rounds, take out the bolt carrier and run a cleaning swab down the barrel. I did this a good three times when a "range officer" came in asking if there was anything wrong. I told him "no", I was seasoning the barrel. There's no sign saying I couldn't AND I wasn't doing anything dangerous. Instead he went and grabbed a tool I DIDN'T need saying this wouldn't damage the barrel and said he didn't see a point in seasoning. This makes my 4th AR15 I've built using the same tools to season with no issues what so ever and instead of going to my normal range I thought it would of been good to try out Saddle River since I've been going there since they first opened and have been a loyal customer since. He came into the range 4 freakin' times to 'watch' and the last brought another person in with him. All he had to do is say I couldn't season/clean but instead he wanted to harass me and try to tell me what to use while doing something I've done countless times. After all of this I will not be spending another dime and WON'T be back. read more
