Some of the crappy reviews here are STUPID and don't actually reflect this business! This store/range deserves better. We went yesterday just to browse and went back today to rent and range. The staff here is soooo incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. My son, boyfriend, and I had a blast (excuse the pun). Josh, Lorenzo, Dalton, Colton, John...all amazing! We will definitely return. It's honestly so chill and we felt so welcomed. I think we spent 4 or 5 hours there today so we didn't just judge on our personal interactions but we saw the team interacting with everyone. A Matter of Principle: Respect & Great Customer Service Should Never Be Optional October 2025, I visited the Spring Guns & Ammo - Spring, TX location and had a disappointing and uncomfortable experience with an employee named Chase. When I arrived, he and several other employees were gathered behind the counter speaking with two customers. I waited patiently a few feet away, off to the side, so as not to interrupt. After noticing me, he looked over twice and then called out from several feet away, asking if he could help me--without approaching or showing any courtesy. When I explained that I wanted to check on the status of a firearm transfer, he responded with a sarcastic question that repeated what I had just said, seemingly to entertain the group around him. It was clear he was trying to make light of my request in front of others, and I found his behavior disrespectful and humiliating. After I expressed that I was offended, he did apologize and offered to waive the transfer fee. He also offered me a one-day range pass, which I assume is something they normally provide to transfer customers. I declined both offers, as neither addressed the issue or changed how I felt about the encounter. As a 53-year-old African American professional and longtime firearm collector, I've never experienced such unprofessional treatment by any merchant. Respect is the simplest form of professionalism, yet it carries the greatest weight. How a business treats its customers--each and every one--says more about its values than any advertisement ever could. Although I live nearby, I choose not to patronize the Spring location--or any of their stores--as a matter of principle. I share this not out of frustration, but from conviction: every person deserves to be met with courtesy, fairness, and decency. In the absence of those values, both the customer experience and the company's reputation are diminished. I believe that progress begins with reflection. My hope is that Spring Guns & Ammo uses this experience as an opportunity to strengthen the values that truly define great service--respect, humility, and accountability. Those are the qualities that build lasting trust, and trust is the measure of every great business. read more

Shoot your best shot and it will always be bull's eye in your heart!!! ~~~ I have never wielded a gun before; definitely had fun. We took the introductory course. My recommendation for the lecture portion is to split it up a bit. For the semi-automatic gun anatomy and safety handling, we should then go and put our findings to action. Then come back and do the revolver gun anatomy and safety handling and its paired practice. What happened to me was I got confused and totally forgot what to do at the scene because the class was so long! XD read more

Came here religiously every week and even purchased 2 fire arms from them. One day i come in and a guy working the rent cashier area said i would not be able to rent and shoot and when i asked why not he said i had to have my own and cant rent one and shoot (which i had done every single time i came in but this time i came alone without my boyfriend). By my name it's obvious i'm a women. I only wanted to shoot an equalizer to make sure it was what i wanted as my first personal fire arm. I went ahead and purchased one out of spite and went back to the same cashier and he allowed me into the range. 0/10 worst experience. When i called the next day i was informed i do not need to bring my own fire arm to shoot in the range. It was the gentleman with the side part, heavy set, and a longish beard that he probably uses to wipe his greasy gooch. Highly do not recommend. read more

I was just reading some of the reviews, the negative ones. They made me laugh, out loud! One guy complained that he could have bought his gun cheaper elsewhere. Was mad they wouldn't refund the difference. Dude, if you buy gas and drive a few blocks and its cheaper do you go back to the gas station you bought gas at and demand a refund? Or how about you go to HEB then find milk cheaper at SAM's.... do you demand a refund? I buy as much as I can from SGA because they are GOOD, FRIENDLY and Priced Fair. They also support you, prior to and after the sales. I know for a fact! Next: The cry babies (snowflakes).... They claim "they were rude". WTF? Nicest people you could ever meet work there. They are ALWAYS nice!! Maybe, just maybe you ARE the RUDE ONE? NEXT: I got kicked out, never going back. Are you kidding me? If you were asked to leave or were kicked out, just maybe there was a legit reason for your being asked to leave? I see and hear the sales people bend over backwards to help customers.... they did and still do for me! My two cents: Come in with a good attitude. Be ready to enjoy the range... it's nice and fun. We just finished our first lesson with Instructor Alejandra and she was awesome! She was very knowledgeable but most important she was patient and made us feel so comfortable. I really like the way she made safety a priority and took the time to make sure we understood how to practice safe gun habits. My thirteen year old daughter felt so reassured having her support! I would give one star except for the fact that I never made it to the location. I purchased a Groupon for the learn to shoot class as a gift for my mom and I to go to together. I made the reservation for us on a specific day - unfortunately my mom got sick so I called SG&A out of courtesy to let them know we couldn't make it. I asked the man on the phone if he knew when the next class was and he just directed me to look at the website rather than being helpful and looking it up for me. I also knew the Groupon was expiring soon so I asked him kindly if they would be able to honor it for the next class. The man wasn't particularly rude, he told me they would not honor it - which I know is fair but I expect a great business to have better service for its clients. Those two requests were pretty simple in my opinion, and I don't really want to give my money to a business that doesn't cater to customers to the best of their ability. read more

I brought my old rifle in to be cleaned and have them look at the trigger that was locked up. It has been sitting on a shelf for years... when I picked it up, it was only cleaned and I was told they couldn't fix the trigger. With no reason or advice on what to do even though I was assured it was an easy fix. I had no timetable and was willing to spend any amount to fix it. Doesn't really seem like they cared for my business. Like if they had said, it'll be $1000 I would have said cool let's do it, that's how nice and cool I was about my expectations to them. I have been going to SGA for years to use their range. I have enjoyed every visit, and their new electronic check in saves time. If you don't have eye/ear protection, it is available there. Have fired both pistol and AR-15 class weapons there. Not a big fan of going to the aux range, as the anteroom is too small to prep to go onto the range. I have seen some complaints below regarding pricing of weapons. No, SGA is not always the cheapest, but that is on the purchaser for not being a smart shopper. Expecting price matching? Really? To be honest, my only weapons purchase there was a suppressor, which was at market price. They offered to help me set up a NFA Trust, but I already had an attorney prepare one. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a day on the range. read more

I agree with Jackson J. My son and I have been coming to this place since we got to Houston in 2014. We never had an issue until today. The range officer, older gentleman with a ponytail is completely bias. I don't know if it was because I am a women or because my son is 21 but he was on us from the moment we walked in. We know the rules about shotguns and only using slugs but he asked to see all of our ammo. Power hungry prick move. Then, while shooting, he came up behind my son and told him to slow down. Again, my son knows the rules and was waiting an apropriate time between shots. The group two lanes away were rapid firing, and he said nothing. Plus, the man next to us was shooting a rifle that shot 2 rounds at a time and the range guy walked up and started shooting the sh-- with him. Another thing ponytail did, after I was done shooting my carbine, I propped it against the wall and he made a big deal. He said to me "a barrel aiming up is not a great idea. Can you set it on the bench aimed downrange." It was empty, and all the signs litteraly say please keep barrels pointed up. I work in law enforcement and served in the military and I had never run into someone who was such a prick. OK I have, but not in a place I go to relax. I am surprised that a business such as Spring Guns and Ammo would keep a guy like that on the payroll when most of the other employees are so great. Well WE WILL NEVER BE BACK. Last week, my cousins and I decided to enroll on the CHL class for today. We had never been to this range before. Yesterday was the first time visiting this range. It was clean and staff was friendly.Today we attended the class which was taught by Todd. He was knowledgeable and patient. He put out a lot of information which was very helpful in knowing and understanding TX law regarding conceal/open carry. The class was about 5 hrs. long but at no point did I feel that I was bored and clear instructions were provided. If you had questions, he took the time to explain so you could understand the material. He was very helpful with the newbie shooters. Overall, he was a fantastic teacher! Definitely recommend!!
