Food is actually good, but not for the prices they're charging. $1.50 to add lettuce and tomatoes to a burger? We waited a half hour for our food and when we got it, it was cold. The red headed manager told us that he would remake, but we didn't want to wait another half hour and he actually actually argued with us that is was the time amount it was. The portions are tiny. The foie gras is on Texas toast, but it must be that everything is bigger in Texas except the toast because it was the smallest portion I've ever seen. The waitress was just wondering around not really waiting on anyone and it took a long while to get her attention and even order. The drinks took 20 minutes each time we ordered. There were fruit flies all over our table, and it's 20 degree out. Less than impressed. There are better burgers out there. Wouldn't waste my time here. read more

My husband and I were very excited to checkout new OTR place! SB has a very nice, OTR-cool vibe. It is comfortable and spacious - which is a welcome alternative to some of the tiny eateries in OTR that get so packed. Right away we noticed some huge booths that would see 6-8 ppl which is just about impossible anywhere else in the neighborhood. All staff were extremely friendly. We were very comfortable. As we were just snacking our way around OTR(which we frequently do), we sat down at the bar- comfortable to eat at, although you probably won't need to eat here if you don't want to, as this is a very large restaurant. The menu is 2/3 cocktails 1/3 food. For a restaurant this size, I felt this ratio should be switched. I wouldn't say this menu screams "diner", as it was missing a nice list of comfort food (expected with a twist in OTR) that one would expect. (Roasted beets sounded good, tartar- not for me on a regular basis unless its sushi). We ended up ordering a burger to share. The burger was a solid GOOD. I wouldn't say excellent (although my husband might) and definitely not the best burger in OTR. Otherwise, the menu had some things I'd like to try, but nothing that made me leave saying "We MUST come back here ASAP to try the .....?". Based on the street cred of the chef, I rated SB 4 stars. Recently, I've had the shrimp cocktail and was pleasantly surprised and the corn beef hash special and it was quite yummy. One of the few late-night locations that makes you feel welcome any time of the night. Fridays and Saturdays they're open until 2:30, a perfect last stop to fill your stomach after a night out. I really enjoyed the Korean Fried Chicken, the sweet and spicy sauce was just the right combination; with an impressive heat after taste that you just wouldn't expect. The Watermelon and Feta salad is a perfect light and delicious dish to enjoy on the outdoor patio! Aside from the delicious food the bar hosts an impressive display of beers and wine on tap, and a knowledgeable bartender staff ready and waiting to mix up a house cocktail or shot. The restaurants reel-to-reel sound system paired with the oddly effective modern acoustic architecture let's you hear the music without being drowned by it. Additionally, when a person is exhausted from a 70 hour work week, sometimes a person locks their keys in their apartment and it's after mid-night and said individual has already tapped out their AAA coverage. Breakfast and brunch are my favorite restaurant meals, and I've eaten breakfast out in the Middle East, Europe East and West, the UK, and all the Americas for nearly 60 years now. Sacred Beast serves THE best plated breakfast and brunch I've ever eaten in a restaurant on any continent. (Restaurants in Istanbul's Moda neighorhood have the best Sunday brunch buffets, hands down.) Everything combines some element of classic with an original twist and a gourmet touch, from the deviled eggs and wedge salad through the diner breakfast and so much more. Today, I had one of their burgers for the first time, the Dirty French, without the cheese because I'm just not one of you Midwesterners who love, love, your cheese (ask for a pizza light on the cheese in this town and it still comes at you with at least a 1/4-inch layer of cheese) and I really wanted to savor the au poivre sauce. The burger had an extra somethin' somethin' from the grill that had us in shock at how good a burger could be, and the caramelized onions and sauce were epic. One of my friends had it with all the cheesy goodness and was also blown away. Since cancer and chemo, I mostly just eat half portions of things, but I wiped that plate clean. My other friend was hoping for more vegetarian options, but loved the diner breakfast without the pork belly. And since we were celebrating, we tried most of the cocktails, and each one was original and fantastic. My favorite is the Mexican Penicillin, with its citrus and chili and that essential basso profundo growl of mezcal -- fabulous. Our server, Alyson, was a wonderful adviser on cocktails and menu items, and Sacred Beast also ticks the box for happy staff. The manager was on the floor and keeping an eye on everything, but not in an unpleasant way. I just won't eat twice at places where the staff are stressed out by management, and you can always tell. I desperately want to like this place. The venue is so cool, the staff is lovely, and the music is banging. The menu reads like a lusty food novel with imaginative creations that just sound delicious. The problem is, the food isn't that good and often tastes bland. Because I really want to like this place, I've been a few times and eventually just decided to stop. First up, the burger. It looked amazing as the servers passed it by, and no question, it is filling. It's just that the meat didn't really have any flavor. And the patties weren't especially juicy or tender. Next up, the pan fried chicken with cucumber dish. The chef raved about this one, so I just knew I'd found "the one," but it, too, was bland - very little salt and not enough curry. Then I had the deviled eggs, which contain a whole bunch of things I love (pickled onion, cracklin, etc). The yolk mixture in the deviled egg was kind of runny and vinegary, once again, disappointing me. I've now given up for now. My husband and I ate here a couple weeks ago. I wanted to write a review but didn't want to write a bad review so I let it go. I was thinking about it today and decided to go ahead and write it. It's a nice place. Good location nice atmosphere and I like that it is family owned. My main problem was the cheeseburger I got. It looked lovely but at least three bite fulls had small chunks of gristle. If there is one thing that makes me feel sick it is a burger with gristle in it. On top of that it just didn't have good flavor. I should have sent it back but didn't want to make a fuss with our nice waiter so I let it go. Not sure if it was just a random burger but i would never get it again and probably wouldn't go back. I think good quality meat is key so you all might want to think about that. read more

I've been anticipating the opening of Sacred Beast since I heard Jeremy was opening a new restaurant. My friends and I came in for lunch and loved everything about it. OTR has needed a spot like this for awhile and they delivered. We went to sacred beast on Mother's Day. They weren't very crowded as the rush had been earlier in the day. We called last minute & they were able to get us a reservation within 45 mins. Yay. They had a ton of fun beers and cocktails to try. I went to the bar as we came in to order while they cleaned off our table , my mom waited to order until we sat down. This is where things started to go south. Our waitress forgot to put in her drink order. She had a peach mimosa that had grapefruit and no peach. It was very sour and not sweet at all. Then came the food. My brother ordered a burger, plain, just cheese with pork belly. They added egg and it had no pork belly. My mom ordered a quinoa bowl with no cucumber, it came with cucumber. This was especially disappointing as we were there for Mother's Day and she can't stand cucumbers. Our server told us the peppers in the quinoa bowl were mildly spicy... they were extremely spicy. She offered to submit the order for a remake but my mom just picked them out. We spent $100 for 4 people to each lunch on a Sunday & 2/4 orders were incorrect & only one person had a drink on the tab besides water. Pretty disappointing. There was no offer to take anything off. To comp anything for the mistakes. It was rather disappointing for the price. The service & attention to detail needs to improve greatly. Cute atmosphere and super friendly staff. Nice selection of wine and drinks. Our only feedback would be to management: please consider either replacing the bathroom doors or installing a curtain over the windows of the bathroom. I'll explain: there's two unisex bathrooms (each with one toilet). The doors of the bathroom each have a fogged window, allowing for passerby's to see the "shadow" or "silhouette" of the person inside of the bathroom.
