Planning a wedding is a uniquely stressful experience. This is even before bringing in family dynamics, managing guests and their expectations, and all of the other things that pop up in between. It makes sense, then, that likely the most important decision outside of choosing each other is choosing your planner. When we first got engaged, we didn't know when, where, or how we were going to get married. All we knew was that we wanted something warm, refined, and full of love. Amrit took that guidance and blew us away with her execution: she created an experience for us and our guests that was a true cross cultural celebration rooted in heritage and hospitality. She helped us host the way our families raised us: food first, love and authenticity without explanation, generosity without performance. This wedding of our dreams could not have been executed by any other team or been possible without Amrit - from finding our venue to managing all of our vendors (and we had a lot - food / beverage, photo, video, rentals, florals, hair / makeup, stationary, henna artists, tabla player, turban tying, horses, favors, etc) to spending time with our family / slotting in seamlessly almost another family member, and most importantly, to me, taking the time to really understand me as a person and my vision. Angella is Wedgewood's preferred florist and she does produce nice work, but unfortunately she was very difficult to work with. Communication was the biggest issue. It often took a long time for her to respond to emails, and when I suggested a phone call or video call to make sure we were aligned on ideas, my request was ignored. She would only communicate via email, which made the planning process frustrating and stressful. I provided clear photos and descriptions of exactly what I wanted. On the day of the wedding, the draping on my ceremony arch was missing. I only found out as I was walking down the aisle. My cake was also nothing like what I had requested; instead, it had random flowers that were never discussed. I expressed how upset I was afterward, but nothing was done to resolve the situation. She actually said that had I let her know while she was on site, she could have fixed it. I didn't have time to look at the ceremony space nor did I know when she was there. I trusted her to do what was discussed. Her explanation for slow responses was that she was busy, which I understand to a point, but I also feel that vendors shouldn't take on more clients than they can reasonably handle. Looking back, had I known how disappointing this experience would be, I would not have gone with the preferred florist and would have gladly paid more for someone who could offer better communication and attention on such an important day.
