To give some context, we recently celebrated our son's first birthday (which is a huge event in our culture) and the initial meetings with Erin were spot on. Her ideas, taste and vision were aligned with mine and I was so excited to work with her. After our initial "idea board" meeting I couldn't stop smiling because the details she had said she would bring to the party were so cute and unique and I couldn't wait to see them brought to life on the big day. Throughout the planning process she was extremely responsive, detail oriented, kind and just awesome in all ways. We also threw her the curveball of working with the schedule of two small children with their naps and she approached it with calm and flexibility. I should also mention that I'm an extremely picky and detail oriented person and lets say I put the "A" in type A personality and am a perfectionist so my expectations are always high. Having said this, on the day of the event the party's timeline, vendors, organizational details, logistics went smoothly. However there were a couple of items that we had discussed at the initial "idea board" that didn't happen and unfortunately they were related to significant cultural and family tradition aspects of the event so suffice to say I was saddened and frankly a bit shocked on what had happened. Mind you that the guests had an awesome time and it was a magical party and no one else noticed except mama bear. Usually at this point it would go downhill with most vendors, but I'm someone who likes to ask people "what happened" when things don't go according to expectations so I contacted Erin. First off, I could tell she was deeply affected and saddened and took it to heart that the event had not met my expectations. What I found impressive was her passion and heart in this party was genuine and she took it personally that I wasn't completely happy. Additionally, at no time was she defensive or coming up with excuses. She listened and asked without prompting "what can I do" and understood where I was coming from. We ended up doing a redo of the missing elements and while not a replacement for what I had wished happened at the party, it ended up being perfect. Additionally her professional conduct, authenticity as an overall sweetheart of a person and personal investment in her events speaks volumes. So would I use Erin again? In a heartbeat yes! If it wasn't clear, she has the most amazing style and taste that really is unique and personal. My husband is the rustic, natural type and I'm the whimsical, styled, elegent type and she was able to combine both. I also know that we ALL make "boo boos" for one reason or another and sometimes things happen and I know I wouldn't want to be defined by something that didn't go quite right. I know that Erin has been in this business since 2008 and based on her other reviews and what I did experience from her she is stellar at what she does but as with all things, sometimes something just falls through the crack and in this case it was some elements from our event. And honestly, I think we were that 1 in a million and any and all future events with Erin would be pefect :) But what defines someone to me is how they react/respond when confronted with it and Erin's response couldn't have been better. I have told so many people this by now, but hiring SmittenKiss and Christina was the BEST money we spent on our wedding. I am so serious. I have been to multiple weddings in the past year and not to sound overly smug, but our wedding was by far the most on-time and smoothly run wedding of them all. And one of the biggest contributors to this was Christina. She and her day-of assistant did such a phenomenal job keeping us on schedule and communicating with all the vendors. Multiple times throughout the day our photographers and videographers remarked "I can't believe we're on schedule!!!" And beyond just the task of keeping everything running smoothly on the day, for me the peace of mine of getting to let someone else take over was priceless. I am a VERY Type A person, a massive planner, and a complete control freak. I was able to plan the vast majority of our wedding with my husband without a full-service planner. But 2 months out from the wedding Christina reached out and told me she would be taking over all direct vendor communication from there on out and I didn't realize how much a relief that would be. On the day of my wedding I was able to fully enjoy my wedding and not have to worry about answer questions and directing people. Also, SmittenKiss provided us with a really helpful workbook that broke down seating arrangements, desired photos (though our photo/video company also had one), song list, schedule breakdown, props/items, etc. I already had a massive wedding master spreadsheet, but I still found this really useful. I think with SmittenKiss the best thing is that they're really here to help manage and coordinate your day. A friend of mine lamented to me that for her wedding she wanted a project manager, but got a wedding designer. I wanted a project manager and absolutely got one.

My daughter was dealing with a lot of stress because of her job at the FDA/politics. Also, the three did not like the extra cost of the Wedding Planner & viewing it as a needless expense. Her wedding plans was not her main priority even thought she wanted a 100 person wedding. One thing her and her fiancé agreed on is they wanted to invite pretty much everyone. That of course scared the living daylights out of me since I knew the couple was not rich. I think at one point I even threatened her that I was going to bring 100 McDonald's hamburgers for the reception if she didn't get on the planning. I asked a good friend who is a successful caterer in her own right (40yr +); who could she recommend. I might add that she has worked with many Wedding Planners through out her career. She instantly said without hesitation that Courtney really impressed her. My friend went on to explain about the wedding planning world. It is expensive and items can be recommended pushing the wedding easily out of budget. She liked that Courtney stayed within the wedding budgets. They did spend a little more but it was reasonable. All I knew was Sarah had to schedule/confirm many different moving parts in advance and she was not doing that. Another thing was to not go into debt or have a wedding beyond her means. I first called Courtney and immediately knew she was exactly what my daughter needed. Courtney and my daughter have the same temperament and easy to get along attitude. She gently gave the bride and groom a reality check about the cost of weddings. I called Courtney and immediately found her professional but with a very warm personality; much like my daughter. Also, I liked her enthusiasm about the project. I felt very comfortable confiding sensitive details regarding the wedding. This was a major plus. I set up a three-way call with Courtney, myself and my daughter, Sarah. I introduced them and ended my part of the call. My daughter immediately hired her. My daughter is pretty darn smart. I loved that I could stop pulling my hair out and gnashing my teeth. Courtney would take care of my daughter and I could just have normal stress free conversations again with Sarah. And the most important thing; Eric and Sarah could have the wedding of their dreams close to budget too! I usually talk to my daughter once a week just to chat. She would tell me that Courtney had assignments she and Eric had to accomplish monthly/weekly. Did I mention Courtney is brilliant! It was so amazing that Courtney orchestrated/worked with the venue, the menu and bar, music, fresh flowers and photography. Each one was performed beautifully. Courtney made it so easy because she did all the work. I think the only thing I was asked to do was to provide about 30 songs to the song list, attend the rehearsal dinner and wedding. Of course my wonderful daughter ask for a mother/daughter dance which include a snippet of MJ, Thriller & George Michael, Careless Whisper. Warning: be careful what you tell your 4 yr old; they might remember. Really that was it. I don't know how to describe this absolutely gorgeous & fun wedding. Everyone in the wedding party was stress-free, which is exactly what you wish for. I loved how Courtney would listen to input. We could trust her to tell us the truth on whether it was appropriate or not and we listened to her suggestions. One thing I insisted on was that the bride & groom give her a generous tip. It was obvious that Courtney worked very hard on this wedding and presented an absolute gorgeous event a little over budget. BTW, the tip is non-negotiable but the amount is. I insisted that the tips were good because the wedding was that great. My daughter later told me I was right to insist on a Wedding Planner. I'm still laughing. The bride and groom, the wedding party will remember a perfect & relaxing event. The chamborg bong was an event in it self and everyone should have a very well behaved coyote attending.
