I attended a friend's wedding at the Headlands Center for the Arts near Sausalito on 4/13/2013. As a former event planner I am critical of every wedding I attend, but I couldn't find a single glitch. I have never been to a better-organized or more smoothly-run wedding. The event clearly reflected the bridal couple's personalities and values, so Rebecca gets big points for executing their vision. I also noted the complete lack of stress among the couple and their close friends and family. Usually someone is running around trying to put out fires, but Rebecca saw to it that the couple and their inner circle were free to enjoy themselves. What a gift! In fact, no one was running around - something always goes wrong at a wedding so I have to assume there were problems, but Rebecca handled them calmly and discreetly. As guests, we were never left confused about what was happening; there was no question about where we should be and when, and no long down time between different elements such as dinner and speeches. Rebecca and her crew were firing on all cylinders. At the end of the night when I finally inquired after the wedding planner, she didn't seem frazzled or fazed in the least despite being at the tail-end of a very long day. I was pleasantly surprised to find that in addition to being great at her job, she's a genuinely approachable, warm, and humble person. Rebecca was an absolutely terrific wedding coordinator...and a constant source of support throughout the year prior to our big day. This review is long overdue, mostly because it's been difficult to write a review worthy of Rebecca -- but here goes. My husband and I were maybe 9 months into our wedding planning process, with that many more months left to go before the big day, when we had to fire our old coordinator for ignoring us for two months, among other things. We were planning a weekend-long wedding at a summer camp in the woods with over 150 of our closest friends and family. Needless to say, we were stressed out. Based on our photographer's recommendation, we reached out to Rebecca, and she immediately put us at ease and invited us to meet with her in person. A few days later, over a shared bottle of wine, she listened to us panic and offered advice, no strings attached -- even if she wasn't the right fit, she would've gladly helped us find someone else. Lucky for us, she was. Rebecca is warm, funny, approachable, and so, so on top of things, no matter how hectic or busy things get. We probably exchanged hundreds of emails between our first meeting in November 2015 and our wedding in August 2016. She had brilliant suggestions for design and decor and she listened to me hem and haw over probably-inconsequential-but-irrationally-important-to-me decisions like our choice of tablecloths. She took over communications with the rest of our vendors so that we wouldn't have to freak out over the final details. She came with us on site visits and had questions about logistics, layouts, etc. prepared that we'd never even considered. She drafted extremely comprehensive timelines for both the months preceding and the day of the wedding. She single-handedly put together our massive rental order. She even calmed me down the morning before the wedding when some of our rehearsal flowers turned out unexpectedly bright and colorful, and I had a bridezilla moment because it wasn't the moody vibe I was going for (I know, I KNOW) -- and then spoke to our florists to make sure the rest of them turned out perfectly. She helped us with absolutely everything and kept us sane. And on the day of the wedding, Rebecca and her assistants made everything happen beautifully, smoothly, and seamlessly -- like magic. They made sure all the deliveries arrived at the correct time and place; they put up all the decorations, displays, and table settings; they directed all the guests and made sure the event flowed perfectly, even when one of our guest shuttles ran 20 minutes late. The day before and the morning of the wedding, I remember multiple guests asking me (a notorious neurotic), "How are you so calm right now?" Easy answer: Rebecca. Rebecca is awesome! Even though that sums it up I am sure you would like to know why? I had a vision and am a pretty crafty girl, but when it came to logistics and coordinating I was a little lost, so we hired Rebecca as our Day of Coordinator and paid for unlimited email before the wedding as well. I remember the first question I asked Rebecca was whether I should pad the time on our invite to make sure people showed up on time. When she informed me that most guests try to be early or at least ontime to weddings and that padding the time would just result in most guests wandering around the venue while we were still getting ready I knew she was my girl. Before the wedding: She always responded to my emails in a timely manner, which is huge! She was also super helpful with all those weird/tough etiquette questions that come up during weddings. Day of: Well, we kind of hit a snag with our shuttle vendors (which we found on our own). If we hadn't had her there to help us work through the situation I would have flipped out...guaranteed. Once the ceremony started everything was smooth sailing and perfect. All the decor was set up just how I envisioned it...even better actually. She added small touches that I hadn't even thought of (i.e. eucalyptus on the wooden menu and chalkboard welcome sign). She is organized, experienced, thoughtful and creative. What more could you ask for? Everything was wonderful. If you're trying to decide whether or not to hire a wedding planner, my advice is simple: DO IT! If it's even remotely possible, hire a wedding planner who will also act as the day-of coordinator; it's worth every penny. Rebecca is the absolute best. She'll help you brainstorm themes and ideas if you're drawing a blank, or she'll help you find the perfect vendors if you know what you want but just can't find it on your own. For example, we knew we wanted something special for our printed materials, but couldn't find the right designer or letterpress studio. A week later, Rebecca has managed to find an amazingly talented artist (who had never even done wedding design before) who created a perfect suite of invitations, envelopes, programs, table numbers, heck, he even created stamps and hang tags for our goodie bags. Similarly, we were having trouble finding the right DJ, and Rebecca went beyond the standard wedding DJ circuit to find us the right person for the job. On the day of the wedding, Rebecca kept everything running smoothly and on time; she wrangled friends and family; kept the bride and groom happy and well-fed; even hung up and broke down the beautiful bistro lights that she rented to us for the venue. I had a great time working as the photographer with Rebecca on a client's wedding. She had everything under control and her team was incredibly efficient with making sure everything turned on a dime. What stood out more than anything was how easy it was to work with Rebecca. She always checked to make sure I was ready before proceeding with any major part of the day. During the event, we had a blackout right before all the dancing. This would have easily derailed most weddings, but she immediately checked in with the client and went to work organizing a back-end up generator to be brought in and stayed beyond the intended finish time to make sure that the clients and their guests got some dancing on! Hiring Rebecca to coordinate/plan our wedding at the 2-month mark was one of the best decisions we made for the wedding. Things were chaotic and overwhelming and she came in and quickly calmed everything and put us at ease. It was great to have an unbiased and experienced professional to run things by to help make decisions (like napkin design, cocktail choices, etc.) and though she was honest she was always respectful of our vision (which she spent hours to understand prior to starting). Rebecca is a goddess. No. seriously. It is true. My husband(!) and I are entirely competent people and were invested in making our wedding a reflection of us. Turns out, this is not so easy. As soon as Rebecca came on board to help us plan, I began to relax and know that our daughter's wedding would be perfect -- and it was! My daughter lives on the East Coast and her work did not permit her much wedding planning time.
