Visited on 3-29-2026 I took my Dad out to lunch for a belated 80th birthday. His older brother & my cousin joined us. This is a perfect example how you have to travel outside your normal area because obviously Egyptian seafood is a big thing in Astoria, Queens. Steinway Street is loaded with many options to have a good meal. Meanwhile, we live in Suffolk County and I have not had the pleasure of enjoying Egyptian seafood anywhere in Nassau or Suffolk. In short. WE LOVED IT! Walking in, we were greeted warmly by the staff. And our waiter was awesome and I believe it was the owner who came to check by the table. He was very funny & personable. They made us feel very welcome there. Like old friends. My uncle & I shared the Seafood combo for 2. A whole lobster, lots of Calamari & Shrimp & a Fish Filet. My Dad had the Butterflied Branzino. Incredible! And my cousin had the Shrimp Scampi with Linguine. All meals were served with a side of brown rice, except my cousin's dish. The salad for the table was crisp & refreshing. And that homemade Pita was delicious! Not just because it was hot. It actually had flavor! Have to go back to try the tagines. I can't stop thinking about their pita bread. So dayum good! Can't wait to go back. 4-5-2026

We wanted to try the same type of restaurant down the street but they didn't open on time, so we gave this one a try and what a pleasant surprise. The personnel working there made us feel right at home with a nice dining area that we were seated at. I had the butterflied grilled Branzino with a special lemon butter sauce that was the best I ever had,excellent. Our party also ordered the seafood combination for two that they said was amazing. It had a whole lobster, shrimp, fish, scallops and calamari. The shrimp scampi I had a taste of was absolutely delicious. The best part is you can choose your own fish or lobster from there fresh seafood counter. I will definitely be going back to try some more of their delicious food on the menu.

Lovely place with lovely people. We walked in on a Friday night at 6pm, and there were tables available with no wait. We ordered the seafood sample for two, and it came with a great assortment of lobster, fillet, scallop, shrimp, and squid. The sauce was delicious and they left the whole lobster so you could scoop the brains out which added even more flavor. Every meal comes with a complementary pita and salad. I also tried the strawberry milk and it was so delicious. Had a great time!

As you can tell from the pics, we absolutely devoured this!!! My favorite was the pita lol along with the calamari and lobster ofc Service was amazing, they were friendly and welcoming and attentive. We visited on a Saturday late afternoon and it was pretty empty but by the time it was 3pm it was starting to get busy and they started playing music. Definitely would recommend the seafood combo for 2 - so much value!! At the end of the meal they even served us dessert that every table got, such a nice touch! I would love to come back and try more

Food: The food is very average here. We came here on a Saturday during lunch time, and the place was pretty empty. The dishes were overall okay but nothing impressive that would make me want to go back. The best thing was the pan seared scallops and fresh bread. The clam dish was extremely salty and not enjoyable. The grilled fish was not that tasty and a bit dry in some parts. The dishes are pretty pricey for what you get. I was overall pretty disappointed in this meal. Service: Service was also just okay. The staff don't really come to check on you throughout the meal. They do add tip to the bill automatically regardless of your party size. Ambiance: The restaurant is a good size and can accommodate both small and large groups. They have outdoor seating as well. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and won't be returning.

Amazing food, would highly recommend coming here if you love fresh seafood. Left full and happy. Will definitely be coming back.

Keep in mind everything is cooked fresh, so it'll take awhile to get your food. They provide salad & khubz (freshly baked): 3/5 Salad- standard, wish they provided dressing Seafood combo for 1 $35: 4/5 Shrimp (5)- pretty good, except 1 was a bit overdone 4/5 Scallop (1)- really good, wish there was more than 1 3/5 Baby squid (2) - decent, except 1 had burnt tentacles 3/5 L squid body- good, but can use a bit more seasoning 2/5 fish- too bland-not enough salt, can use a ton of seasoning 2/5 grilled sea bass $35- too bland-not enough salt, can use more seasoning 3/5 Dessert plate: (on the house for us) Basboussa Baklava Knafeh Standard. Everything wuda been great if it wasn't so sweet. 3/5 service: the owner/manager? was very nice at 1st. He said to ask if we had any questions. I asked what was in the seafood combo & didn't catch what he said twice (fillet), so he got mad & ended up yelling at me the 3rd time, lol. When we asked the price of the fish the 2nd time (cuz we couldn't remember the different prices from the 1st time he informed us), he got a bit annoyed. My dude, some of us are Dorys. Unless we work there, we won't be able to remember the prices you told us several mins ago. When I asked for basboussa to go, he gave us the dessert plate on the house. He also gave my mom & other moms roses for Mother's Day. The other servers were really nice tho.

Food was delicious! The place is small but clean and service is amazing! We really enjoyed everything we ordered. Definitely worth making a trip to Astoria if you don't live close by already.

First time visitor , went for my mom's birthday. First time trying Egyptian food. The service was great, everyone was so friendly. Food was fresh and had great seasonings. Nothing was dry, everything tender and juicy. Octopus was the star of the show! Can't wait to come again

Ok so I've literally been coming here every single Saturday and Sunday for dinner ever since I first tried this restaurant. It's literally the best seafood I've ever had in my life. Doesn't compare to any other spot. If I had one last meal on earth it would be the branzino babaganoush and eggplant here!!! I love how fast the food comes out But my absolute favorite part is that the portions are huge the size of the fish is always generous and much more value compared to anywhere in the city. I always leave full and satisfied I love it so much I've actually thought about moving to Astoria just to be closer to this restaurant

This was a fantastic and authentic meal. Things started out wonderful as we found metered street parking right in front of the restaurant. Sabry's has a very warm and inviting front with ample seating options both outside and indoors. We got a beautiful welcome from the owner Yasser who seated us outside in the sunny and 74 degree gorgeousness. Almost immediately came the glasses of water along with sliced lemon and a smiling waiter with the menus. We opted for three appetizers ( the mixed green salad, the babaganoush and the eggplant in tomato sauce). Babaganouush - well done, bursting w flavor. Mixed salad - fresh, crispy and lovely w lemon. Eggplant - fried n yummy in this nice tomato sauce. The complimentary warm bread basket was timed perfectly with these appetizers. The Sabry's platter ( grilled) with the calamari, salmon and shrimp was simply fantastic. Seasoned so well and a big portion ample for two after the appetizers served with the tasty brown rice. The vibe was just beautiful. The restaurant was packed at 4:45 pm; the energy was good with families enjoying laughs plus some delicious fare. The prices are very good for the quality, the portions and the area. Definitely be back!!!!!

what a hole in the wall place!! people would come and go fast here - food and service was quick. you would go to the seafood counter and choose from the fresh seafood selection there. you can pick as little or as much in whatever combo you'd like! it's awesome to see what you're actually eating and knowing that it's fresh. the seasoning and cooking was PERFECT, super tasty and not too much to overpower the natural tastiness of the fresh fish. we also got an app (dip with pita) which was so worth it!!!! expect to pay for high value seafood but it'll be worth it.

Absolutely delicious sea food in a laid back, friendly atmosphere. Very reasonably priced too. Order the baba ganoush to go with the addicting fresh, hot pita. Choose fresh fish and/ or seafood. We had blackened Bronzino and grilled seafood platter. Besides the bread, the food comes with fresh salad and rice. Try the refreshing hot mint tea. So good! Third time there. Will go back again and again. read more

If there is one thing I feel confident to judge at a restaurant is seafood; growing up in Venice, Italy I had so much delicious seafood in my life and I think I know how it's supposed to be prepared (or at least I know how it should NOT be prepared!). Well, these guys know what they're doing: I've been only once but tried a variety of different dishes and they were all cooked "respectfully", simply bringing out the flavor of the fish without over-thinking. The octopus and the grilled salmon where my favorite dishes.. VERY well cooked!! read more

My boyfriend and I had date night here last weekend. We both loved this place immediately! We sat outside, it was evening and beautiful... We told our waiter that this was our first visit and once he had taken our order he brought us out a sampler of hummus and a few other dips. The bread was incredible! We ordered the seafood sampler for 2, it was loaded with yummy seafood! We also ordered the grilled octopus, def worth trying! This place deserves 5 stars. See you soon! read more

By far the best fish I have ever had! The food here is something that you crave even on a full stomach. The grilled fish is my favorite but we also have tried the mussels, spearings, and BBQ fish, all very good. I know that you get the pita for free with your meal but the homemade pita here makes me drool. I know the service can be a bit slow sometimes but the owner and chef is the main person cooking and if it is a full house then the wait might be longer. Regardless of the wait or service (we didn't have any issues but I can see how service can be lagging), the food is worth the wait for us. I need to go back to try all their menu items! read more

While Mustafa, our waiter, is an enthusiastic host, he's not very good at explaining the terse menu. That a dish came with rice was a surprise; there was no indication of it on the menu, and a side of pasta had been ordered. It's just as well, since they never brought out the pasta (we weren't charged for it). On the plus side, though it wasn't ordered, a large, delicious plate of salad was brought for sharing, along with hot pita. The food is barely average. The steamed muscles appetizer was good, the muscles themselves large and tasty, but the broth they were served in wasn't good. The sauce on the eggplant appetizer tasted like it was out of a jar. The tilapia was tender, but perhaps too tender, bordering on overcooked, and tasted of butter only. It needed the lemon served on the side squeezed over it, and a healthy sprinkling of pepper, to be enjoyable. The brown rice that came with it was nearly flavorless. The calamari was overcooked to the point of being inedible, the pasta was also overcooked, stuck together, and both the calamari and the pasta had almost no flavor. When this was pointed out & the dish sent back barely touched, Mustafa called over Sabry, the owner and evidently the head chef, and he replaced with fresh cooked octopus, but no sides, and we were still charged. The Arabic coffee (that was medium sweet?!) was eh, the baklava just OK; while the pieces served were tiny, they were so intensely sweet that any more would have been too much. The tables are cute but they're the ones you'd find in your better Chinese restaurant (koi and Chinese characters painted on the table tops). Weird to see them here. The wall decorations are attractive but the dining room was quite chilly, and with the wall of windows at the front, I imagine it always is, inside. Two appetizers, two entrees, two desserts and coffees (no other beverages ordered) came to just over $60 before tip, and I definitely don't feel that we got our money's worth. Very congenial staff, but I'd try any of the other middle eastern places on Steinway before I went back. read more

The best seafood in NYC is actually in Queens. You would never know it just walking down Steinway but this place has the best seafood and sides in the US. Fresh, whole fish, perfectly prepared. The best piping hot bread and delicious Hummos I've had as well. Highly recommended. Very nice staff. Owner actively involved making sure everything is perfect. read more

Been hearing about Sabry's for a while but never considered dropping in. Well, I did and the years I spent eating seafood at other places were all wasted because this place is legit Egyptian seafood. Growing up in Egypt, getting so so used to the perfected Egyptian mixture and grilled fish made it harder for me to really enjoy what other seafood places put on my plate. If you want the Mediterranean authenticity mixes, then this is the restaurant to eat at. Never been happier or more satisfied! read more

We visited this restaurant on 11.16.19 & this is my 1st review ever !! The reason I took the time to write this review is because the "Seafood " at this restaurant was AMAZING !! I would venture to say the BEST IN NYC inc Manhattan. I travel around the world for work & have eaten Seafood in most countries, but NOTHING compares to the way the food was a Sabry's !!! My hubby & I ordered the Seafood Combo for 2 - the flavor was delicious - just the right amount of flavor not to overpower the Seafood. The Lobster was the softest I have ever had, the Scallops melted in our mouth , the Shrimp was delightful, the Fish fillet was like butter - every pc of Fish on the platter was cooked to perfection - light, melting soft !!! Our Friends ordered Grilled Fish - they too were delighted with their food. They did not have a Mezze platter which we wanted for an appetizer, but the Chef was so obliging & created one. The Bread which they served was divine - warm, freshly baked , just the right hint of sweetness & fluffy. The price is so affordable for what You get . It was a truly delightful experience - I am so happy to have found this restaurant. A whole lot of appreciation to the Team at Sabry's for the Great Food & Dinner Experience they served up. The freshest seafood in Astoria! Chillest and friendliest staff. Just an amazing ambiance for group of friends. I really loved their grilled octopus. You must try the Egyptian tea with mint leaves with the traditional Arabic desserts:) will come back here more and more often. Truly happy to find this restaurant. Did I mention that this place is soooo affordable considering how fresh and good the seafood here is? read more

The meal starts off with straight out of the oven pita bread-the best. A nice simple salad was next. Then the entree - fish. Fresh well prepared fish. Excellent and plentiful. The service was great, never rushed. Great little place. read more

Good place for seafood. We went with our big family. Staffs are nice. Appetizers are delicious. The seafood soup is amazing! Is called taojin. Only issue I have is with entrees. All of our grilled fishes were burnt. May be it's their style - I don't know. But I will prefer less burnt and less dry. Our bill was somewhere close to 350. read more

Sabry's is easily the best restaurant on Steinway if not the whole Astoria neighborhood. They specialize in seafood and Egyptians definitely know how to make their seafood full of flavor. I've been here countless times and it seems to get better each time. The ambiance is great. It's very humble and well decorated and the staff are kind and attentive; they always make the best recommendations too. The piece that brings it together is the constant music playing in the background from Egypt-nothing beats hearing Om Kosloum while eating food. Plus the tank and fish display is a nice added touch. My go to dishes here are the tajin especially the calamari, the mussels in the white sauce, the grilled bronzeiny, and my favorite is the Shrimp A La Sabry. If you're lucky you might even get a glimpse of Sabry! read more

Amazing place for a family meal! Definitely get the seafood platter for 2 - it was a massive plate full of all kinds of delicious tender seafood (lobster, 2 kinds of fish, octopus, shrimp, scallops) with a light tomato sauce that didn't detract from main flavors of the seafood. Another must-order is the grilled calamari which had such good flavor and was so tender. The bread and eggplant dip was also so fluffy and yummy. Service was so friendly and warm. Highly recommend and will be back! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Astoria. The fish is incredibly fresh (and they'll give recommendations on what you should order!), the delicious bread is baked right before being placed on your table, and the waiters are the nicest in town. Also, it's an incredible deal and you'll eat your fill for $15-20. Can't miss it! read more

This restaurant has perfectly prepared seafood (especially grilled) and very hospitable service. We were 6 people and ordered striped bass, babaghanoush, bronzini, and lemonades. Everything was great - the salt rub on the fish tasted great and the fish itself was of the highest quality! Very authentic, and prices are reasonable considering the great experience. Not very fancy but if you're in the mood for the best authentic food, come here. read more

One of the best seafood meals. Everything was delicious. We had the seafood platter for two, 1 lobster, 3 whole pieces if calamari, talapia fillets, scallops, and shrimp, served with rice. Please ask for a spoon and spoon sauce over the rice it's that yummy. Also the pita is delicious and fresh made. read more

Sabry's deserve beyond five stars.... was susceptible at the beginning reading good/bad reviews but i am glad that i try it. The freshest fish the most flavored ones i've tried them here. From gilled to fried fish you'll love them all. I've never been a fish person until i tried the Sabry's signature style. Even though i live in Brooklyn its absolute worth each mile to get here. The severs are always nice and polite. Definitely i'll be back very soon. read more

Our friends came to Sabry's before and have been raving about how good the food is. We made the drive from NJ for pre game meal. We ordered a few appetizers to share, the small fried fish was a nice treat and the clam in white sauce is out of this world. Everyone in the group ordered a different type of fish to sample, it is so hard to pick a favorite. Everyone at Sabry's is so friendly which takes the experience to a whole new level of excellence!! Definitely worth the drive. read more

Came in today, a Sunday during memorial weekend. Was seated by very polite men as soon as we walked in (I booked a reservation). When seated we were given water, salad and some pita. The salad and pita were great! However, we were never asked if we wanted anything to drink other than water. They did have a small fridge in the back that I assume people just got up and got their own drinks, just an assumption though. I ordered the Sabry Combo which came with Calamari, shrimp and Salmon. My shrimp was cold, salmon was tasty, and calamari was just in-edible. It was so overcooked it was hard to swallow. The wait for the actual entrees were long but the sides made up for it. Overall I would not return. The food was OK, but if you want real tasty seafood, id head over to Astoria seafood for a real treat! read more

We were looking for a good fish place specifically one that can make the best grilled shrimp because I haven't really seen a good place for a grilled shrimp recently and I wanted to try something new so we ask someone in the street and they recommended this place. They're not only have really good bread, but they have the best seafood ever the shrimp amazing. They call one platter the Bolti fish and it's so good! First time I have tried it and I love it! I also love the mixed seafood platter that they recommended! It's so good! The service was fast too and the server took every request I had! I really like the lights and the tvs! I've been to Sabry's twice. It was delicious both times. The wait staff, although very sweet, can be slow The food makes up for it. First of all, most of the patrons are from the Middle East which is always a good sign for a restuarant that serves middle eastern food. Second, their bread is something from another world. It's chewy, it's a little sweet, it's warm. You can't stop eating it. We had an appetizer plate, shrimps in a red sauce and octupus. It was all good. They have big portions so try not to fill up on bread. Also, the place could use a bit of a face lift. It's one of those places that has sticky menus if you get my drift. We are from The Caribbean Island and we love to eat at Sabry's. This is in our opinion one of the Best Middle Eastern Seafood restaurant we've ever eaten at. We love the whole setting of this restaurant. They serve a very special blend tea with fresh mint tea leaves and salad as you wait for your meal to be prepared. We have eaten the grilled octopus, fried and baked red snappers, grilled sea bass, jumbo fried shrimps. The bread is mouth watering to be eaten with a delicious eggplant sauce, fresh squeeze lemonades. We ordered one red snapper and Branzino to be grilled and one babaganoush as appetizer, we looked at the menu and it said clearly the price is $19.99 for each fish and $5 for appetizer , we end up getting a bill of $39 for red snapper and $28 for Branzino TOTAL PRICE $77 just the dam 2 dishes and one appetizer, so asked the server and he said their price changes depends on the fish market ,,,WTF is that means its like buying a stock from a trader,, also the portion for appetizer was too small and the complimentary rice came very oily, will never go back for sure, very disappointing!! read more

I am originally from VA, however, there has not been one time for the last 9 years that I visit NY unless I make a stop at this amazing seafood restaurant. Their food is honestly one of the best I have ever tasted and I am originally an Egyptian/American, and seafood runs in our blood. I live in the neighborhood and I always see it but it was my first time dinning in, my friend had eaten there twice before and suggested I should try it, so glad I did we got salads, branzino and fried fish with rice and French fries!
