I can't comment on the food as I have been twice and each time what I ordered they have not had. Each time stating they did not have the brisket ready to make the dish, yet it is on the breakfast menu and I am showing up at 930. So not like I hit them up at 7am. I had the Chiles Poblanos, which is two poblano peppers filled with cheese and covered with cheese, and rice & beans. Unlike most poblano dinners I've had, this came with sour cream and guacamole, both of which I enjoy. My wife had the kids taco plate, which was just right for her and tasted great. My dinner was hot with a lot of flavor. I need to start cutting the rice & beans from these plates because I never eat them. This is a lot of food, and I finished the leftovers the next day. The salsa here is also very good, and the chips are light and crispy. The atmosphere was pleasant but our server seemed distracted and it took a while to get refills. Apparently she knew the people seated behind us and had a lengthy conversation about a medical procedure. Not pleasant. read more

My husband and I enjoy Sabroso's. The food is good, they are very affordable and they have great specials. One night when my son was with us they gave us free dessert which was red velvet cupcakes with a sour cream icing. They were delicious. We don't drink but for those who do they have a cozy bar. read more

This is only an update because I got our waitresses name wrong. The woman who was very rude and had the worst attitude was named Esme not Teresa. I guess when she rang up our ticket she used Teresa's log in. Teresa has since been so sweet and I feel awful that Esme rang it up under her name so that she got the awful review. I do not retract my review but it was not about Teresa it was about Esme!! read more

Came in for lunch at the new location off the loop and Quaker. Service was good, but the food was really nothing spectacular. They do, however, have good chips and three different types of salsa, so perhaps it's worth a trip for that and some drinks. The habanero salsa offers a slow heat, and the regular salsa tasted good. They also have a green salsa we didn't try. Queso wasn't worth the cost. Relleno was good, although not crunchy like some places. Charro beans weren't great. read more

This used to be a great restaurant but not anymore. when the owner was there it was good but hardly ever see her anymore. We usually eat there twice a week but after tonight never more. Waitress was lazy and spent way too much time in the back, when she occasionally came out we had to call her over to the table for more chips or napkins or to correct things that was wrong with our order. The waitress was rude and her manager was much worse. We have been told they were closed and turned away 30 min or more before their closing time and have seen them do this to at least 4 other couples. There is an abundance of Mexican food places in Lubbock. We for one will never go back to this one. read more

The over all environment is really nice inside. I went last week with some friends and we didn't like our food but I figured I'd give it another try, they have so many options. The second time around was worse. I ordered a fried burrito that is suppose to have a sour cream sauce and when I got my plate it looked like really thick gravy. I still gave it a try and it tasted horrible. I scraped it all off and still tried to eat it, I ended up just having two more bites and asking for my check. I must agree with the reviewers who have slammed the service. If you trawled through Lubbock's sewage system what you'd come up with is the staff at the newer Sabroso. Unbelievable and difficult to explain because the people at the original Sabroso are top-notch. At any rate, the food here is above average but because the workers are such a scummy bunch, I'll never go there again. Incidentally, a friend of mine, who is tolerant to a fault, holds the same opinion of this place as I do. read more

Okay first off this is a brand new Mexican restaurant in Lubbock been open not quite a week yet so take that into consideration as they are still learning. The food is pretty good. The enchilada sauce is just a tad on the salty side in my opinion. Our service was good but the wait on the food was a lot longer than it should have been. I'm sure that will get better because the whole staff seems to be really trying. Sorry no menu photos right now I'll get them next time. The restaurant is open at 7:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. and the bar stays open till midnight 7 days a week. They have a nice selection of standard Mexican food plus Mexican seafood, and even chicken fried steak. We had a long wait for our food so unfortunately you get to see some extra Verde sauce in the pics we couldn't wait to start. read more

I love a good taco, I love a cheap taco. These tacos were definitely decent for the price. Worth it in my opinion. This is where the problem comes in. A slew of disorganized moody servers who don't care to take your order once you've been seated. We all have crap days I understand, I understand things can get busy. But why is this place pull of servers who look like they all had someone piss in their cheerios first thing in the morning? Along with this, the icky atmosphere needs work. My chair? Sticky. The table I was seated at? Had some sort of weird residue on it. Four of us had lunch at 1:00 pm 7-17. There were only 4 small tables with people at the time. We ordered, waiter was very nice. Our order took over 30 minutes. We ran out of chips (kids were starving) and couldn't find our waiter. Finally found him and asked about our food. He said it was ready and coming soon. We continued to wait, by that time everyone had ran out of drinks. Finally got our food and it was good but it took so long. I don't know if we will go back unless their service gets better. We came here with high hopes. The ambiance was inviting with nice booths, tables and decor. The Appetizer of cheesy French fries with chicken and beef was very good. It was served with onion, sour cream and guacamole. We had chips and salsa that was spicy and had a lot of cilantro. I ordered the three cheese enchilada dinner with extra cheese and onion inside. Neither was added to the enchiladas. The red sauce was rather thick and not overly spicy. I had the rice and papas which was mashed potatoes with cheese on top. The potatoes were very thin almost soupy. The Mexican rice was somewhat dry with peas and carrots. Overall it was disappointing. I will try again but not too soon! read more

Second time me and the wife tried this restaurant. The first time we went the wife had a chile rellenó, and I had chicken enchiladas. The wife liked the rellenó but I was disappointed with the enchiladas and what is up with the refried beans, they look and taste old and not refried but reheated. Left most of my food on the plate. The wife wanted to give them another chance so we tried in the evening, I had tacos and the wife had flautas we were both disappointed. Decided to dine at this restaurant with the family. The food overall was terrible at best. No one at the table liked any of the food. Talked to the manager and he stated he would adjust the ticket accordingly. When the server was advised of what the manager had said she stated she didn't know what he had said. The server had stood their the entire time I was talking to the manager. I asked her to call the manager once again. The server came back and said she would take the price of one entree of the ticket. I also asked her what about a child's burger that was brought to the table with the meat patty raw. She stated we should have told her how we wanted it cooked. The server stated it, they had not been open long. We ordered on door dash. The menu said burrito with red sauce and rice and beans. The taco said the same thing. We got a taco that had two bites of meat. Burrito was just the burrito. Reading these reviews you would think this place is horrible... I've eaten here probably 15 times in the last month and a half as it's very close to where I work. I've never been charged for chips and salsa or extra salsa, I've never had disgusting food everything has been exceptionally good for the price... Given that this is a tex mex restaurant. All of the servers and bartenders I have had have been nice and attentive... The restaurant is always been clean unlike some other well-reviewed texmex places in town. And whether it's drinks or food it's going to be very hard to find anything better for your money here in Lubbock. read more

We ate here for the first time yesterday for a Sunday lunch. We were part of a group of five. The service was good... in taking our drink orders, keeping chips on the table, and checking in on us for drinks throughout the meal. The food, however, took way longer than it should have for the number of people in the restaurant (almost empty). When the food arrived, it was cold, and actually not very good. Totally my fault for not price checking first, but for a dozen cheese enchiladas it was $38.99 and for the dozen beef it was $70.00. I didn't realize they charge for adding beef so my bill for 2 dozen enchiladas with a side of rice and beans was a total of $146.90.
