Our server, Christopher, was very attentive, suggested wine pairings, and gave us great recommendations. We started with the charbroiled oysters which is a must. They were large and charred to perfection on the outside grill, topped with parm and breadcrumbs. My friends ordered the filet and the gulf fish, and I had the charred cabbage entree, with a French gerwurztraminer blend. The mushrooms with the blue cheese sauce were so rich and delicious! Sweet treats were a no brainer. The blue cheese flan was creamy and decadent. A perfect ending to the meal. This is so far my fave restaurant in New Orleans. It's an honest, no BS creole inspired cuisine. 100% coming back soon!

And yet again, I am so thankful for Yelp steering me in the right direction yet again! A short Uber from the French Quarter brought us to what I believe is such a special hidden gem! The moment you step into Atchafalaya, you realize it. Ambience is amazing, quirky, cool, homey and cozy. Staff is amazing. We sat in our own private room and were treated to a very special delight of a dinner. I tried the incredible fried green tomatoes, the seafood soup (?) and the incredible steak...wow, everything was amazing. And not only did Chef Christopher Lynch come out to say hello to my Autistic son but the owner Tony Tocco did as well and it made his day! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I ordered a glass of fresh ginger ale ($4), gumbo ($8), a fried oyster po'boy ($19), and bread pudding with Jack Daniel's ice cream ($10). You could tell that the ginger ale was made in-house with real ginger. This ain't your Canada Dry, that's for sure! It was a refreshing delight. The gumbo came hot. It was perfectly spiced and rich. The po'boy was also delicious. The oysters were crispy yet so juicy on the inside. And the bread - I don't know what they put in the bread in NOLA, but it's always great and I can never get bread like it in Ohio. Is it something in the water? The bread is so crisp on the outside yet so soft on the inside. The po'boy came dressed with a red remoulade sauce, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. It was also served with an absurd amount of fries. The fries were a bit on the plain side but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a bit of hot sauce and/or ketchup. I ended my meal with some bread pudding, and Lord, what a sweet, decadent ending. It was so rich and warm, and the Jack Daniel's ice cream added a nice cold, not too sweet contrast. My server was great as well. She came to check up on me a couple of times and made sure to keep me hydrated.

This rendition has tomato and potentially heavy cream based on its color and how creamy it was. Full of flavor and shrimp perfectly cooked Red beans n rice (4/5) -- massive serving size, but wish they gave more rice and also cooked the rice a bit more. The beans were super creamy and flavorful, but not overly salty. The split sausage was meaty and flavorful, but the chunks already inside the red beans were dried out Interior is decorated with awesome art and staff are friendly and very proactive. Take a walk on Magazine Street, browse the shops, and then come on in to eat here. This was our last dinner in New Orleans on a five-night trip to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. We were staying in the Garden District of Nola, and decided to try Joey K's. Ambiance is comfortable and casual. The artwork and overall decor is eclectic, original and fun. Service was great! Our waiter doubled as the bartender, yet he never left us wanting. Food here is the real winner, and if it's Southern comfort you want, that's what you'll get. We ordered family style, and our table was covered with food. We had the following spread: 1. Two-piece dark meat fried chicken dinner with two sides -- we picked mashed potatoes and gravy, and cabbage (cooked in bacon drippings...oh my, so good). 2. A bowl of gumbo 3. A fried shrimp Po'Boy 4. Crawfish and corn fritters with spicy powdered sugar and remoulade 5. A side of cornbread (for only $1.50!) My favorite thing was the fried chicken and sides. The cabbage was a vegetable only in the most remote sense of the word due to the bacon it was cooked in, but who cares on vacation? It was scrumptious. The cornbread was hot, moist, not too sweet, and out of this world. Great price point, too! This wound up serving as dessert. I love the fritters, also -- they were perfectly deep fried, and nice and moist on the inside. The Po 'Boy was my least favorite, but that may simply be cuz I was getting full at that point and couldn't handle the bread. All in all, we had a great night on Magazine Stree and a fantasic comfort food meal at Joey K's. The menu is huge -- there's something for everyone here, so come on in and enjoy.
