Jerk shrimp with rice and peas, Caribbean fries and sweet plantains
    Cathy K.

Heavily debated posting this because I don't want the annoying tiktokers and influencers infiltrating this place as there are not many good Jamaican places nearby. This is the real deal. We stopped by around 8p not too far before closing and sadly most dishes were out but we loved the jerk shrimp and salmon. Sweet plantains were perfect. Rice and peas cooked with love. Backyard is lovely with palms and outfitted with warm lighting and good vibes, felt transported back to our favorite spots in Jamaica.

I went back and caught happy hour. I started with the jerk chicken nachos that were only $6 and a house cocktail, Guava Rita which was half off. Next I had the Flying High ( jungle bird). My entree was the Rasta pasta with oyster mushrooms. They had a few ppl outside dining and just one couple inside. Very chill vibes. The staff is always attentive.

The food is amazing (the main dishes are, not the other options. Ordered the avocado salad - it was underwhelming). Among the main dishes, turkey neck bone dish was the best. You can order 3 side dishes with the main dishes. Go with those - lots of interesting options. The service is slow. You sort of have to accept that - it's is like having your personal chef and it takes time for them to cook. Place is very warm and interesting. Bob Marley mural sets the ambiance.

Man, I was not ready for this place and I mean that in the best way possible! We were greeted and seated quickly, which was a great start. Now, I'll be honest--the food took a little while to come out, but the flavor that followed? 100% worth the wait! I even joked with the owner that I might bring a snack next time just so the wait doesn't inconvenience them, because once that food hits the table, it's go time! Everything was on point from the warm, attentive service to the freshness and bold flavor of every single dish. I had the honey jerk salmon, shrimp curry, jerk chicken, plantain/sweet potato combo, Brussels sprouts, and garlic mashed potatoes. Yes, I went all in and yes, it was amazing. Talk about exceeding expectations. Sheesh! If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and get ready to be impressed.

Oxtails on point! Always friendly in here. The food is always so yummy. If you are a regular the rewards program is great. Altho the oxtails were $35 I had $14 in rewards that reduced the price to $21. The rewards build quickly so be sure to sign up.

Okay visited recently and when I tell you! This food is so damn good. We ordered jerk turkey necks, Rasta pasta and fried fish. Sides; Caribbean fries, dirty rice, Mac and cucumber salad. One I am not a big rice person I INHALED the dirty rice it was incredible! The turkey was cooked to perfection, falling off the bone. The Mac and cheese was pretty close to my mamas. And the salad tasted like an island in a bowl. I cannot recommend this cook, food and restaurant enough. It is Caribbean so do not hold them to whatever schedule you have... they move with the spirit and they are cooking with love so you should not be in a rush.

Everything about this place is amazing! Food, vibe, the staff is cool, decor. It feels very homey! I had no complaint about anything on my plate. As someone who travels often and eats a little everything, everywhere...this Caribbean spot is can't wait to come back and try something new!

This Girley Girl loves authentic Jamaican cuisine! When our Women's Book Club decided to host our meeting here I was excited because it would be my first time dining here. It's has vibrant decor and a casual atmosphere. The owners are a husband and wife team who are hands on. Their names are Shaka and Karon (Chef Kay). Chef Kay prepares the meals fresh while Shaka takes orders and serves. I enjoyed the Jerk Turkey Necks and Nachos. The Jerk Turkey necks is an appetizer, served with 3 large pieces that were seasoned well and tender! The Jerk Nachos were so delicious! I customized mine with chicken breast and added Jerk Shrimp. It's accompanied with a pineapple/avocado pico and Jerk Barbecue Sauce. These are not your "average" nachos and I loved them! The only reason I'm giving them a 4-Star vs. 5-Star is because we had a group of 12 and it took more than an hour once the food began to be served until everyone had their meal. The plates came out one at a time. I will definitely be coming back to dine here, just not with a large group! I enjoyed conversing with Shaka and Chef Kay prior to leaving, this certainly made me feel valued and welcome. I highly recommend you check them out!

The food was amazing. I had the lamb chops and my husband had the turkey necks. Everything was great. Even the sides. We'll be back for sure

Oh man, ever have a meal so fire that words simply won't do it justice so it takes you a few weeks to write a review? That's how I've been with this place. We rolled in for lunch, six stomachs growling, and devoured everything in sight. Cocktails, apps, mains, sides - not a single dud. And then there were the Brussels sprouts. I expected the usual greasy sugary bomb (which has a time and place). But no sir, not these bad boys. Every bite was like a tiny hallelujah chorus for vegetables. The seasoning emphasized the freshness of the sprouts. It wasn't just the food, though. You could tell this chef cared, like he poured his soul into every spice sprinkle and ingredient choice. We even saw him coming back from maybe a grocery run with what can only be described as a farmers' market bounty of fresh produce. The drinks were crafted with the same love, layers of thoughtfully considered flavor. We bathed in sunshine on their gorgeous patio in the backyard, served by the sweetest folks from the chef himself, to the server, to the bussers. The seating was ample there. I left dreaming of return visits, my stomach already plotting its next meal. I cannot emphasize how much you owe it to your tastebuds to go to Afrodisiac. Trust me.

Don't walk, run to this hidden gem. We went around 7pm on a Friday and were seated immediately. Food See below. Service With the exception of how you order, it's the traditional table service. A member of the staff brings out your order, removes dishes, and other requests. You order and pay either via QR code or register. Everyone we interacted with was hospitable. We felt valued. 10/10 Ambiance Small, cute, bright and colorful. The outside patio is really nice, but it was a damp night, so we sat inside. The Jamaican music was on point. 8/10 Lagniappe I like that you have a couple ordering and payment options. We chose the QR code method for both, which was fast and convenient. The other option is the traditional way, which is to order at the register. Jerk turkey necks - 10/10; they've elevated the turkey neck game. Tender, jerky, the sauce. Jerk BBQ shrimp - 10/10; this is a new way of making BBQ shrimp, and I'm here for it. Corn maque choux - 10/10; unlike any corn maque choux I've had. It tasted like crab and corn bisque. Spicy ginger wings - 9/10 Crawfish etouffee fries - 9/10; fried bananas never tasted so good. Hibiscus lemonade - 9/10; yum, more please. Jerk chicken - 9/10; tender, jerky, smoky. Jamaican fried drum - 8/10; the fish was good, but I had drum twice this week, so I was over it. Why did I order it? Sweet potato plantain mash - 8/10; like it sounds, mashed sweet potatoes. Curry shrimp stew - 8/10 Brussel sprouts - 7/10; if Brussel sprouts are on the menu, we're ordering it. These needed more olive oil and salt.

Food was BOMB! The chicken nachos were great and literally stuffed. The jerk Turkey necks with the cabbage and Caribbean fries with the rice... I don't even have words. The jerk turkey necks are nothing to miss out on. Also had the Jamaican fried catfish. The strawberry sidecar was very tasteful! Service was great and everyone was attentive including the owner! Definitely a great food spot in New Orleans! Also had the homemade lemonade.

    Beautiful wall mural.

Service her is top notch! It is truly an experience. Rastas are in full effect. The music, the art work adorning the walls are part of the cultural experience as you dove into their food. I have had jerk chicken but once I ate jerk chicken here, my mind was like," I have never had jerk chicken." THATS HOW GREAT THE JERK CHICKEN IS!! My husband had the goat burger and it was phenomenal! You will not be disappointed going here!

The menu had Jerk chicken, curry chicken, and brown stew chicken. I wish they would have listed the sides on the menu as well, so it wouldn't leave potential customers wondering what comes with the chicken. I planned to get the jerk chicken and my mom was going to get the brown stew chicken. My mother and I aren't eating rice right now, so we asked if we could get a plate without rice and peas and just double the veggies/ greens. He said he did not have enough veggies to do it for two plates. I said okay well if we get one plate can you do it on that one and he said ok. So instead of purchasing two plates we just purchased one jerk chicken plate. The chicken was good and the greens were flavorful. I wish there could've been another veggie offered like cabbage so I could've had cabbage and then greens, but overall I enjoyed the food. Only other tip besides adding the sides to the menu, is that I think they would've benefited from having another staff member. It was only one guy plating the food and taking the money/ orders. There was someone else who would come to refill the food but they didn't help serve.
