I love Fritai so of course it was one of my stops at French Quarter Fest. I ordered the light and flavorful shrimp pikliz which was so perfectly delicious. My friend had the wings and loved them. I recommend Fritai to everyone visiting the city because the food is sublime and the service is warm and kind. Really such a gem of a restaurant.

We tried almost everything on the menu, and you will not be disappointed

The food is so good the staff is accommodating and kind and the chef is the best! Excellent food and an amazing value. The ambience is very casual, laid-back and family friendly. for the price point and for the feel, this place is an 11 out of 10 This is soul food and you can tell the chef loves his food. It's rare that everything is good. And it's a hole in the wall. it's perfect for a Monday or any day after work except for Tuesday

I don't know if I was just really hungry from walking all day but this was some of the best Haitian food that I have ever had; ever! Everything hit perfectly. The fritai was excellent. It's important to get your namesake dish correct. Their plantain was good. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The pikliz was probably the best that I've ever had. I'm so happy we chose this place. It's on my list of places to revisit in New Orleans.

Ok so we were all super into the crab mac and cheese but then the group of like 20 that ordered ahead of us ALL ORDERED IT AND SOLD THEM OUT. Devastated. Anyways, we pivoted and I got the kabrit. It was so much food but all so good. Also got passionfruit wings although it didn't really taste of passionfruit at all.

One of the few places that was still open late when I was on the hunt for a meal. Was a great hole in the wall surprise. Looked like a comfy Haitian family-run restaurant. Was served quickly by waitress who I believe was the daughter. The coco-lime plantains were slightly sweet and more savory. They were interesting but had no wow factor. The Poul Kreyol's savory and tender chicken mixed well with the rice and beans. It really hit the spot for such a basic meal. Loved it! Would come again

Listeeeeennnnn. I only tried one thing and that is enough to earn 5 stars from me! I had the fish head (redfish) and it was perfectionnnnnnnnnn. I haven't had that quality of redfish in over 20 years and I've had it so many times. It was so light and buttery--grilled to perfection. The essence of the fish really shined through, even with the herbaceous sauce underneath and pikliz. I normally enjoy my fish with a vegetable but this with the white rice was enough. I think this may have been a special, but it was so, so good and worth being a permanent option. Customer service was amazing! Everyone was super friendly. The dining room is on the smaller side but spacious enough to be comfortable.

I'm trying to do better yall . When I tell you I wanted to dive in but I said take photos kia. This was my husband's first time having Haitian food and goat. So I knew we had to come here during our trip to New Orleans for Krewe of Boo. Did I mention I met the chef? Personally asked us how was everything. Words could not describe how I feel about the food. Also, get desert. The creamy sweetness is very complimentary to the savory dish and pikliz. Mmmmm the pikliz, so good. I cannot wait to go back. Wonderful food. Very flavorful without being hot or overwhelming. Many interesting dishes, with the best goat I've had in years. Very good cocktail too. Pleasant environment, no lines.

Great service. Good drinks. Good Haitian comfort food. Loved oxtail nachos. Ambiance good music. Comfortable place

Visiting from California, we were interested in the many online recommendations for this restaurant and it was our first time tasting Haitian cuisine. I booked a dinner reservation on their website and although we were initially interested in taking the trolley system, the uber ride was short and easy to set up from our hotel in the French Quarter. The restaurant entrance is on a corner of two residential streets and the dining area seats plenty of different sized parties as we immediately admired the cozy warm atmosphere from our table in the center of the restaurant. The cocktail menu included unique ingredients not typically found in the many bars we had already visited and I loved the dried sweet plantains in mine! Since our group was used to sharing, we ordered the Super Fritai Platter which was served on a bed of banana leaves. Being Filipino, we were guaranteed to enjoy everything similar to our own traditional dishes, and I found the crispy cuts of goat and both types of plantains delicious.

Went here for a dinner organized by The Food Wellness Equity Collective and the food was simply amazing. Every dish was so flavorful and satisfying. I wish there was one of these in Atlanta!

Always wanted to try Haitian food and this place was the everything was good from the fried pork to the plantain to the rice. And everything had the rite amount of spice to it , Haitian food reminds me of a cross between Spanish and Jamaican cuisine smh , the service was excellent staff was friendly no complaints whatsoever! Pina Coladas aren't usually my brand, but damn Gina...these are good! Hand blended and elevated to creamy perfection (hafta recommend the extra rum floater on top). We tried a Toffee & Tequila drink because the flavor combination won our curiosity (it tasted like an espresso drink which I don't enjoy) but we sure liked the thought. She switched to an off-menu drink the server recommended called a Saturn which was quickly emptied. I had a few bourbon & rum cocktails called the Fancy Bombo - and those got me right. We only wanted a couple of shareable small plates to hold us over so we tried the Crab Croquetas and corn tamal. The croquetas were had a crunchy fried exterior and cheesey crab goodness within. I could've eaten about 82 of them if we didn't have dinner reservations elsewhere a few hours later. The corn tamal was a polenta disc topped with so much deliciousness that had me considering cancelling my other reservations. As good as the food & drink are - the service really seals the deal. Everyone in the place is a foodie and exudes a level of sophistication when you inquire about anything. The staff is quick to engage, explain and recommend when called upon. There is a vibe here that will keep me coming back for more. I will just put this out there for those that may need it (and you know who you are) - if you are intolerant of different lifestyles, sexualities and flamboyance...this IS NOT a place you may care for. Many of the staff is diverse and LGBQT adjacent/forward. Don't misunderstand, this is not a place advertised as anything for a certain type of person or group, but if these things make you uncomfortable - don't ruin it for those of us that support all diversity.

But the overall experience brings it down to 3 stars. Prices feel high for the casual setup, the place looks tired and really needs a thorough cleaning (a deep clean and freshening up the vibe would instantly boost customer enjoyment a ton), and better interaction with guests would make a huge difference -- friendlier service, quicker check-ins, and making people feel truly welcomed would go a long way. As a local I'm still rooting hard for them because the potential is there and the music is solid. spruce up the space, and improve guest interaction and this spot would be packed and loved by everyone.
