I was excited to learn there was a Jamaican restaurant in my neighborhood. I tried it for the first time tonight and everything was fresh and delicious. You walk in and no longer feel like you're in New Orleans, the Jamaican theme was prevalent from the tables to the wall art! The food was authentic and reminded me of my visits to Jamaica! I thoroughly enjoyed the jerk chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. I also really enjoyed the chicken patty, spicy vut flavorful! The service was phenomenal and I will definitely be back!

SO Delicious!!! This is my third time here in a few weeks. Their beef patties are authentic and all the sides are delicious. My husband loves the jerk chicken and brown stewed chicken.

Jerk chicken, Mac & Cheese with spinach. Very good! I'll be back!!!

Place was clean, vibrant decorative murals and the service was good. Food was the BEST Jamaican food I have had in the city in a while!

    jerk chicken and oxtail plate

Genuinely some of the best food i've ever had in my life. Like my life was changed in this establishment. The staff was so sweet and so welcoming and i felt like i was in such a comfortable environment. Everyone should come here and bring their whole family.

Customer service was A1. Steamed cabbage was very tasty, fresh, and crunchy. The macaroni and cheese was very good considering Jamaican spots aren't known for having good Mac and cheese. Jerk chicken was amazing as well and not too spicy. Only complaint was the oxtail. It was decent but wasn't falling off the bone, they were small, and it needed a little more seasoning. Overall this place has good food, spacious, a good vibe and not super expensive.

Food was excellent. Oxtail had great gravy and they were generous with it. Curry sauce was full of flavor. The curry was bold in the best possible way. Rice and peas was the perfect level of moist. Jerk pork was the best roasted pork taste with a jerk that wasn't overly hot. I really like the jerk, some people might want it with more pepper.

Super-friendly staff; delicious, rich, oxtails; flakey meat pies; tender bone-sucking curry goat! I'm headed back only two days later now!!

Definitely an upscale but comfortable vibe here. Our waitress was amazing and I really wish I could remember her name. We had a variety of food and it was literally all just so excellent. Anything and everything we had was just excellent. From the pig ears to the chicken dinner to the dumplings. It was just all amazing. The dumplings are definitely a different take but they were so flavorful! The scallion biscuits were also just so fluffy and we had our choice of different butter to put on them. Literally this is a restaurant to try in New Orleans!

I looked around the completely empty restaurant for a few second and asked if she was sure, and she said yes, you can only sit at the bar. We sat outside as we figured out where to go, and wouldn't you know it, in about the 20 minutes we sat on the bench outside the entrance, maybe a single goddamn person came in. Where are all the people that made them so booked up that they couldn't find a spot for us? Listen, I get it, I showed up on the wrong night, but the place was empty inside, they absolutely had room to seat us, they actively chose not to.

At one point, a completely different waiter had us recite our order again so she could figure out what was supposed to be coming out of the kitchen. - My meal arrived 15-20 minutes after my husband's because of a mix-up in the kitchen. The seating: The booth tables are extremely cramped. My husband and I were seated at a booth that we literally had to squeeze into. The table was so close and high that, as a woman on the Itty Bitty T¡tty Committee, even my chest was practically resting against the table, and it pressed uncomfortably against my diaphragm. For context, I'm a size 16 and my husband is an XL. Yes, we're larger people, but not so large that we shouldn't be able to sit comfortably enough to put our linen napkins on our laps. The configuration was simply uncomfortable. And then there was the food. As someone who has eaten tons of local Haitian food as well as Haitian-American and Haitian-Canadian interpretations of Haitian cuisine, I feel confident in my palate and in my ability to recognize well-executed Haitian food. This was not that. The food was subpar and, frankly, uninspired. I ordered the Joumou Gnocchi, and it was soulless. There was little to no jus (soup/juice), and the gnocchi (which were supposed to be made from squash) were essentially dense shards of dough. They lacked the lightness and tenderness I would expect from properly made gnocchi. There were bits of oxtail in the dish that were actually quite tasty, but they couldn't save the dish as a whole. And again, this was the meal that arrived 15-20 minutes after my husband's because of the kitchen mix-up. My husband ordered the chicken with sòs pwa and legim. They initially brought him griot by mistake. When the correct dish finally arrived, the pwa looked extremely watery, and the chicken looked as though it had been prepared a day or more before and reheated. It had that unmistakable refrigerated-and-reheated appearance and texture rather than looking freshly prepared. I really hate leaving negative reviews, especially when I want to support restaurants serving Afro-Caribbean cuisine. But I also have to be honest about my experience. For someone who isn't familiar with Haitian food, this might pass as a 3-star experience. For me, based on what I experienced that evening, it was closer to 1-2 stars. I was genuinely disappointed. * 1 star for the calm and friendly demeanor of the staff and because they tried. * 1 star for the tasty bits of oxtail and the delicious carrot lime juice.
